This morning my car wouldn't start. AAA got to me quickly and confirmed it was the battery but their replacement price was steep. I called AutoZone on Clayton Road and spoke with Jim (store manager) to ask if they install batteries and could test the system to rule out the alternator. He said yes to both. When I arrived, there was a line; I asked for Jim and he helped me choose the right battery for my car and budget. I also picked up new windshield wipers and washer fluid. Jim came outside and, no exaggeration, had the new battery installed in about 10 minutes, popped on the new wipers, and ran a charging-system test. The test result showed alternator was fine; it was just the battery. What I loved: * Clear, honest guidance from Jim (no upsell, just what I needed). * Quick install and system test right there in the lot. * No installation fee for the battery (huge plus compared to other places.) * Convenient location with solid inventory. AAA was helpful for the initial jump/diagnosis, but AutoZone saved the day and my wallet. Big thanks to Jim and the team for turning a stressful morning into an easy fix. I went here for wipers and a battery. The staff were amazing. The guys helped locate the correct wipers for my car and truck. They then helped get the truck ones on for me. Then the manager on a different day helps me get the battery to my car. Super heavy and I had only the use of one hand. I didn't have to ask for help in either of these situations, they offered! What happened to the old manager??? For years I'd go into a fully stocked store with great friendly staff and a manager who would remember her loyal customers by name! Where is Keri these days? You go in now and the line is backed up into the aisles, there is a staffing shortage and prices are wrong I went there for one can of sea foam There were two rows of the product right next to each other (one covered up by a clip strip holding other products and blocking the second row and price tag) The price shown was 10.99 After waiting 10 minutes in line while someone else was calling every autozone from here to Folsom chasing down a battery warranty for a mechanics shop (not even a normal consumer) and a wasted effort at that. So I go to check out and it rings up at $17+ I tell the cashier it's on the shelf with two stacks all the way to the back wall for 10.99 He goes to look and then points to the opposite side of the section after finding and empty spot on the shelf saying it was in the wrong spot blaming the Black Friday crew. I kindly... with what little patience I had left. Tried to explain to him that I didn't stock the shelves. I asked for a price adjustment He refused I asked to talk to a manager and he pointed to the guy who was still calling somewhere in the United States for a warranty claim on a 7 year old battery. He said I'd have to wait another ten minutes I said to him: You have some options Fix the price Or I can call California board if weights and measures to come and audit your whole store. Or I just steal it like everyone else in California does and I'll have no repercussions. He pulled the product back behind the counter as his jaw dropped. I told him i would fix this myself. I went and grabbed another can and tossed $13 on the counter as I walked out. I should have demanded a price match and a discount. But nobody's got time for that when they are paying a mechanic $100 an hour to wait on a 12$ can which has already cost me 20 minutes of my life and money in wages $3.00 is what I wanted. I've spent $3,000 at this place and they wanna make me wait 10 more minutes in addition to standing in their long line.... I don't think so. Your lucky I paid. Bring back keri!!!!! I highly recommend Autozone on Clayton Rd in Concord. I called in and Jacob was very friendly and helpful. He told me to come in to get my battery charged at no charge. He was helpful in getting the battery out and charging it. It was done sooner than the time I was given and he even put it back in for me. I almost never leave reviews unless it's exceptional service or horrible. This is one of those horrible reviews. I came to the counter to ask which size wipers I needed for my car and an older man at the counter acted like he had better things to do. After he rang me up, I then asked if he could test my battery since it had died earlier. He tested it and sad it was bad. I asked if I could get it replaced and he said no. No explanation, no reason why, just straight up no and walked back inside. I had to turn off the engine to test the battery and since it was dead it didn't start again. I asked if I could get a jump and he said no they don't do that. Pretty much the worst service I've gotten anywhere in awhile. So grateful for the warm, kindness, help I received from Cassandra, Garrett and Jacob. I'm a dialysis patient on oxygen and I needed help to get a new battery. I spoke on the phone with Jacob to get information about a new battery and he was super nice and understanding. He gave me the information I needed to know. This was yesterday, Saturday 2/17. I called today Sunday 2/18 to make arrangements for a new battery. I spoke to Cassandra and the information she gave was the same as Jacob. Jacob was off today. I brought my van into Auto Zone and right away they came to help me. Cassandra was with another customer so Garrett helped me. Apparently, I didn't need a new battery. He did a test and found out that it was my alternator that needed to be fixed. I was pretty upset so I sat on the side of my van to gather myself and Cassandra came up to me to check on me. She offered me a drink to feel better. I did. Not only because of the drink but also nice customer care. I felt very relaxed there. They took good care of me. God bless them all. read more

I was looking for a battery tender on a Sunday for my motorcycle. Most bike shops are closed on Sunday and Monday, and I was going out of town for a week on Monday and didn't want the bike to sit in the heat w/o a charger. Worst customer service I've ever experienced at this store! I was one of only 2 customers in the store. I was overcharged and the cashier (Curtis) was reluctant to confirm; annoyed that he had to do a price check. When I asked for a refund I was told," you gotta wait ". The cashier was more interested in sitting down and looking at his phone, than his work. I can't give any store that sells items like plastic "wheel covers" more than 2 stars...the guys here have rather aggressive sales pitches, MUCH more so than say Napa..I never get any bullshit when I go to Napa. When I walked in I heard one of the guys trying to talk the customer in to buying something so all of his airbags didn't go of..what? Additionally, when I bought a battery the guy convinced me to buy some bullshit I didn't need, grease for the battery terminals and these stupid foam things to put on. After a terrible experience at the monument location, we went to the Clayton location and found the customer service to be excellent. If it weren't for the fact I was in desperate need of a battery ASAP I wouldn't have even gone to another Autozone after how horrible Michael and Kristie treated me at the Monument location! Luckily I ran into Rick at this location who was the complete opposite of the other store. He was so helpful and had awesome customer service skills. He went above and beyond to help me. Horrible store!!! I am an Auto Zone fan! Even own their stock. Auto Zone became the auto parts store dariling with outstanding customer service, and will usually put in batteries and headlight bulbs (at least easy ones) with no problem for you. BUT NOT THIS STORE!!! Some gray haired guy on Sunday, July 24th about 4 p.m. was down right nasty about even helping me find a bulb!!! Pass this store and go to down to O'Reillys--or another one like the one in Pittsburg, which follows the Auto Zone tradition of outstanding customer service! A complaint in this regard will also be filled with Auto Zone corporate, my only regret is that I did not get the employee's name I was so flabbergasted!! read more

It finally happened. My turn signal started making that agitated fast clicking noise and then eventually burned out all together. And my windshield wiper blades had been dull for months. It was time for a trip to the auto parts store. I was not looking forward to it, but, to my surprise, this was an unbelievably pleasant experience. Geoffrey, the store manager, was so helpful. He found the exact parts I needed right away. He showed me a few options in different price ranges and helped me pick out what I could afford. And then he offered to put on the new windshield wiper blades and replace the turn signal bulb. I was out of there in less than 5 minutes. 2 grown men working in store. Why is it that when I come into this store it feels like no one who works there wants to help me? I'm sure that's the case, but that's their personal issue. If I come into a store I expect to be able to walk up to a service desk and have someone keeping an eye out so I don't have to go around the store and hunt them down. It's not that hard. I used to manage more 30 people at a time as an executive chef of a restaurant. I had to watch out for many things while multitasking far more involved scenarios. Get it together people. read more

Came here for a light bulb for my headlight which I ended up getting, replaced it in the parking lot, just to find out MY BATTERY DIED in the autozone parking lot. Went into ask if there's anyway they could jump me and I get a flat "no". Talking to triple A and speaking with the guy who WORKED for autozone said he knew for a fact they have jump boxes. I went back in and asked again and still the manager seemed to make up a lie and turned me down. My 4 visits inside, I felt comfortable asking lots of questions and everyone had answers. They all seem to know what they are doing and care about doing a great job. Ive been a long time, big spending customer.. 2012 i spend over $2,000 at this store.. Due to the newer magager "Geoffery" i will NEVER go to autozone again. I sent a customer there with a parts list, and all parrlt numbers needed. This manager managed to screw up. Charged my customer twice for mobile1 oil. Ordered part numbers i didnt need, that were not on the list. She returned pissed off. On another trip, i asked my customer to order front brake lines. Left and right. Geoffery makes a rude comment, "they're both the same part number, your mechanic should know that, You obviously need a new mechanic." Hey bud dont you dare tell my customer she needs a new mechanic. Thats why your a sales man, and im a tech. I had your job back in high school. On another trip, same customer, Geoffery sells her more wrong parts, and for the second time in 1 week... he charged her twice. He has the worst attitude I have ever seen in customer service. Theres a nice professional young lady at this location who deserves magager position ahead of this a hole. I never had problem with her. Thanks GEOFFERY im an offical Oreily customer now. On a good note, Geoffery handed another customer of mine $70 change from $100 bill... on a $70 purchase. Hope you made your till right outta pocket. I got a ton of attitude from the girl in the glasses at the register. I went there looking for a lightbulb and when I was asking questions to clarify that we are getting the correct lightbulb for the model of my car, she wouldn't answer them. OK... I checked out the reviews for this particular AutoZone store. Does upper management even look at this stuff? I would be beside myself if my company was portrayed in this horrific light. My daughter lives in the bay area with her father. She is a senior in high school. Her car needed front brakes but the shop made a mistake and ordered rear brakes. She had been waiting a week for the parts. So she called around to find the parts she needed. AutoZone on Clayton Road, Concord, CA was the only parts store that had what she needed in stock. The cost: $40. Child has only $30. She calls her dad in Hawaii and tells him she needs $10. He gives her his cc. She goes to the store and they refuse to take the cc because the card holder is not present. Kid calls mom, that would be moi, and explains the sitch. I call the store. I get Michael on the phone and I explain that I am in Las Vegas and my ex-husband is in Hawaii. I say that I know policy and procedure are important, however, could they make an exception for the $10. Without even breathing he said no. I actually had to ask twice because I thought I heard wrong. So I did what most people would do, I requested to speak to the Manager. His name is Juan Limon. I have other names for him, however, those names would be unsuitable to print. Juan could care less about his customers, his job or his store. He is the epitome of what a manager or even an employee should NOT be. And he is lacking as a human being. It's $10. If I was going to steal from you, it would be a helluva lot more than 10 bucks. Please make an exception. She's a kid! No? OK. It's already 4:15pm. I get online and I can only find the regional office number for Las Vegas. Finding a number period was a nightmare. I call the office and I get lucky!! Maria answered and she was appalled at Juan's behavior and said she was going to contact the Regional Manager for the Concord store, Veronica Alvarez. She said to hang tight and she would handle it. Maria gave me the number to the RO in Cali in case I didn't hear from Ms. Alvarez. Now it's 5:00pm and the kid is getting antsy. Mom, mom, mom, ma, ma you know like that goofy cartoon guy in the commercial... So I tell her, go to the store and wait. But mom... Go to the store I say! She goes to the store. She calls me from the store and says moron's number 1 & 2 will not help her. I said let them know, politely, that Veronica Alvarez, the Regional Manager, was going to contact them and authorize the cc exception. 45 minutes she stands there waiting. Finally, she texts me and says the one guy, I am assuming Michael, NOT the manager, says that he will take the cc from her father because their last name and address are the same. No kidding Dick Tracy. Really? My child has been trying for hours to give you money! You should count your blessings that I am not there. Needless to say, Veronica Alvarez never called me or the store. All this could have been handled a lot differently if the proper people, procedure and attitudes were in place. Juan should never be allowed to work with customers ever for any reason. Worst customer service ever. Like, really, how socially inept can you be. I go here very sparingly, only if I absolutely need to get something for my car at the very moment. If you're not a regular or a female, they'll treat you like an outsider. The atmosphere is cold and unwelcoming...they kind of just stare at you when you walk in, and trust me, it's not a big store by any means. I went in today to pick up some paint and walked up to the register to pay. I asked the employee how he was doing to which he didn't respond. Guess he didn't hear me, I thought. He completed the entire transaction while looking over at his buddies and some semi-attractive lady in a captivated-like trance all while paying absolutely no attention to me. The few words he did say were said in the exact way you DON'T want to talk to customers. I've had previous experience in retail, and this guy definitely did not know what was up. Yeah, morbidly obese-world-of-warcraft-playing dude, I'm talking to you. You're wack, and you just made Autozone on Clayton Road lose a customer permanently. Do everyone around you a favor and learn some customer service skills. Hell, even basic social skills for that matter. If you want to be treated like you're no one, then by all means, go to Autozone. Okay, so I needed to recycle some oil. These guys were awesome! Great customer service! I honestly have never seen anyone get that excited over recycling my oil for me before. I called in first and got a pretty cheerful guy on the phone, when I showed up, the assistant literally snatched the oil from my hands and recycled it. Talk about service. I have shopped here before and have always been happy with the service, but the oil recycling took the cake. I was so impressed that I bought a can of brake cleaner, even though I did not need any. read more
