On this past Sunday morning, my window regulator decided to die after getting drive up coffee at McDonald's the very second after I lifted the coffee cups out of the drive up window attendants hands as he said "have a wonderful day!" I pressed the button to roll up my window as the rain started to really come down. We had to get on the road because there was a huge storm coming in and my wife and 8 year old had to get back home to the Bay Area. My horror escalated as the reality that my window would not go back up, set in. There were zero chances of finding a mechanic on Sunday morning at 9:23a.m. So, I did what any mechanically ignorant Dad would do, I pulled the cover off the fuse box. No, I didn't have the owners manual with me, that was over 200 miles away in a comfortable garage box. On a fluke I drove over to O'Reilly Auto parts in Gardnerville. The people were very nice and they had the part in stock. Ricardo was especially helpful, that guy is an outstanding human being! This company is absolutely lucky to have someone like him on their payroll. We were in a real jam and he came through and helped out above and beyond. This world needs more people like him. I cannot even tell you how grateful I am for Tony and the closing staff tonight (3/15/2020). Coming from out of town, it started snowing. Prior to the snow, we got chains from a different O'Reilly in another city; however, when we put it on in the snow, it was extremely smaller than it was supposed to be. So our car had to turn back around and went on Yelp when we got signal and tried our best in finding an O'Reilly that was open. Thank goodness that THIS O'Reilly was open with 4 minutes to spare! We jumped out of the car and dashed in; right when we ran in, Tony said "chains"? Haha, like he knew already Tony and the other guy worker (whom of which I did not catch the name that was closing too) helped us out so much. They both came out to look at the tires and knew what chains we needed right off the bat and why the other chains did not work. It was such an amazing and honest service. My recommendation for this specific O'Reilly Auto Store is more than any other car spot place I can say. Hats off to the closing staff and Tony. Your entertainment made our night so much better. Guillermo and Tony hands down best service I have ever received ANYWHERE. I'll start form the beginning. Went to my local oreilly in California 45 mins away from home, thinking I had battery trouble. Tested battery and was sold the wrong battery (terminals were on the wrong sides) had to return to the store after going back home to install, 90 min round trip Received the new battery, installed. Car died within a few days and had to be jumped multiple times a day... Brought car back to said oreilly, tested alternator starter and battery. Battery was put on a charger said I should be good. Still have the dying issue... drove up to Reno for the day, stopped into the Gardnerville oreilly!! We tested the alternator, starter and battery FINALLY told the correct problem! Alternator going bad. Guillermo said don't want to rob you I want to help you. Definitely recommend this store! Thanks guys!! read more

Zeus leads the way with the best customer service in town. I came to the store with my right lamp out on my car and Zeus was quick to help. Not only did he sell me the bulb but he proceeded to put both of them in. When I told him how much I appreciate the great customer service he told me," this is the number one thing he is after for he and his team, is to take good care of the customers." Before I went to O'Reillys I had called their competitor and was told they could not help me install but I could go to the garage next-door for help. I am looking to do business with those that have a neighborly touch and Zeus and his team exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much I will be back again, as the need arises. O'Reilly Auto Parts: August 16, 2014 It was a scene that could have come right out of an old movie. The dead battery that I had just labored to take out of my dead car was in hand, and I was in shock at the price of a replacement battery. I was thinking that $80 would have been a top of the line, but that was about $40 below the entry level... It was surprising to say the least. So the young lady working the counter sees my discomfort and offers to call the shop down the road to see if they have a better price. I accept the offer and she calls. In fact, the battery down the road has a better warranty (two more years) for only $5 more. How do you pass that up? Also, if the battery had been less, they would have price matched it. Customer service is making a comeback, and it is appreciated. I'm a fan of O'Reilly right now. read more

Tony is the man. We were in trouble with the snow and our chains didn't fit when we tried installing them. Luckily we found this O Reilys and met Tony. He helped us out by getting us the right chains, restaurants to eat around the place, and places to stay the night all in 5 minutes before they closed. He was super helpful and funny and made our nights better because it was pretty crappy up to this point. Would definitely recommend the store to everyone out there that needs help with chains and auto parts and make sure to speak with Tony because he's an awesome guy. read more

Woke up while Jeeping near Bridgeport, CA without clutch pressure in my buddy's Jeep. He had this happen once before and a good idea of what was wrong. Limped in Bridgeport in an attempt to buy a new slave cylinder. Only one we could find was at this store. Our first attempt at installing the part was unsuccessful. While my buddy set out on foot to talk to a mechanic, Tony (The Manager?) stopped by the Jeep in the parking lot. He said he was going for lunch and asked if he could pick us up food. He offered us the use of the store's restroom and offered us water. We were able to get the repair done on our second attempt. Tony's kind gesture at a point when we were getting frustrated when our repair wasn't working out was much appreciated. His kindness and commitment to being a good human doesn't go unnoticed. The store was clean and every employee I encountered was polite and helpful. Second attempt at the repair was successful and we were on our way. read more

I called in to see whether they might stock a motorcycle battery without much expectation. Not only did they have the relevant battery in stock, but the price was awesome and they accepted the old onerather than charge a fee which Walmart does. I suspected my battery needed to be changed. A really friendly young man tested the battery and it did need to be replaced. He put a new one in for me. I also needed a new back windshield wiper. He ordered it and I came back. The other employees equally as friendly took the time to figure out how my car's mechanism released it and replaced it. I had switched to oreillys from AutoZone due to quality prefrencess but I had purchased a co2 sensor socket (PL) brand from oreillys and it broke on me so I took it in for a exchange right, well I had lost the receipt and my phone# had changed. The people are nice, but I've been here multiple times and have received the wrong part every single time. My husband is half way through changing out breaks right now and guess what!? Wrong parts. They even have the correct ones in stock and made us wait a day for the wrong ones haha. I've had my car since 2010, so I'm pretty clear in words when I say make and model, engine type etc.. plus the car is sitting out front every time.. I'm over it. Maybe ask for someone who knows what they are doing when you go in. We will be avoiding from now on. read more

Specifically, Tony shared his knowledge and took the extra time to make sure I successfully repaired the a/c in my truck, got the parts I needed and most importantly did not waste time or money on parts I did not need. On Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 7:45 I went to O'Reilly Store in Gardnerville(89410) to buy a new headlight. I pull up and at this time there was not one customer in the store. I walk in and a heavy-set man was sitting on the counter next to the register closest to the door. He had dark hair and short trimmed beard. An older man with more grey hair was at the other register in a light blue button-up shirt. A woman was in behind the counter with very dark hair and glasses. I said hello and they said Hi back. I said I need a new headlight. I had a headlight out and wanted to see if it was in my history so I could get the same one. Well, the grey-haired man looked it up and said there was no history. I said maybe it was under a friends name from the Shingle Springs Ca. He said he couldn't pull up California's info. He proceeded to tell me there is only a 1-year warranty on them. I didn't really care I just wanted some light so I wouldn't get pulled over and get a ticket. It had been snowing earlier and its hard to see, especially if the snow got on my lights. I said ok, I wanted the same light because I got the wrong one last time and one was brighter so I didn't want that to happen again. I asked if there was a way to tell? He asked for my car info, which was a 2006 Toyota Hybrid. He looked it up and said it was a particular one and I said ok, but it needs to be the halogen one. Then the man sitting on the counter tells me I need to buy two so the brightness is the same. I said no, I want one and they are spendy so then he said buy two and save the other. I said I just want one. Back to the grey hair man, he brings me two kinds of bulbs. I didn't know which one, it had been 2 years since I bought them and he couldn't bring up my info. So I go out to my car and pop the hood to see what is was. I take my phone camera and flash because it was dark out to take a picture of the brand and code. I could not quite see what it was. So I go back inside and ask is there a way to tell? The grey hair guy was definitely by this time not trying to help. He said, " I don't know and I'm not going to change your bulb for you, you should go to Auto Zone, they will do that for you." I said what? "I don't want you to change it for me and I didn't ask you to change it for me. I just want a new bulb and Id take it home and when my son gets home from work he would change it for me." I did say that I thought that was an ass thing to say to your customer and your service skills are suck. I thought that was very assuming of him and rude. He seemed to be getting a kick out of talking to me like that almost like he was showing off in front of the other employees. I called later to talk to him and said that he was condescending and rude to me. He was the one who answered and I said to him, he was not helping me, but purposely making this difficult to make me feel incompetent. I went to Auto Zone and they helped me figure out what bulb to get. They were very very helpful and changed the bulb out for me and also checked my battery too. I left both employees $5 each because I told them first thing I didn't need them to change the bulb, I will take it home. They insisted to help. So the lazy grey-haired man and the man sitting on the counter where definitely not an asset to your business. The woman with glasses down from the counter was probably so embarrassed. If the grey-haired man would have said to take out the bulb I would have done that, but anyway, I know a lot of you have had good service at O' Reilly and I had in the past, but this was definitely not this mans good night. This morning I picked up two batteries from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Fearing my truck would not restart, I left it running; paid my bill, and Trevor, of O'Reilly, helped me load the new batteries. I then went home to tackle the project of installing them. Throughout the past year, though, several health issues have taken a serious toll on my ability to do things I once could. I opened the hood of my truck and immediately knew I could not perform the task-at-hand. I called O'Reilly and asked if I could pay them to install the batteries I just purchased. Trevor said, "bring your truck down and we will install them for you." They did just that! Trevor installed the new batteries quickly, professionally, and cheerfully. He had to step inside the store a couple of times to assist other patrons, but returned to the 25 degrees outside and finished the job in less than an hour. He refused to take any money from me.
