I was on a trip from California to Nevada for work and I got a flat tire about 20 miles from my…read moredestination. Unfortunately, these new cars don't come with spare tires so to make a long story short, I had to stop about every 5 miles using a little electric pump to pump up the tire to keep moving. I needed to find a tire store close to where I was headed and I found Big O Tires in Gardnerville NV. I walked into the office and was greeted by Angela Lister I told her what happened and she said "no problem, we got you" A technician named Gauge, promptly came out, looked at the tire, said "yeah I'll be able to plug that" he slowly rolled the car around to the garage and within about 20 minutes had the tire all fixed. The best part of the story is, they didn't even charge me! I walked back to the office and asked Angela if they accepted my fleet management card because it's a company car and she said, with a huge smile on her face, "no charge I wanted to get you back on the road as fast as possible" Wow Amazing service actually does still exist in the world. You just have to be lucky enough to find it like I did. I know Gardnerville is a bit out-of-the-way. Most people reading this will probably never go there but, if you're ever in that area and you need tire service. I would absolutely stop in and talk to Angela, and the team are AMAZING

FELLOW WOMEN: BEWARE OF PREDATORY AUTO REPAIR TACTICS AND FRAUD…read more I'm sharing this because I was nearly scammed out of $4,000 simply because I don't have extensive knowledge about vehicle repairs. At the end of June, I took my truck to Big O Tires for a routine A/C tune-up. Shortly afterward, an employee named Chris called and claimed that my A/C compressor clutch had seized and insisted the repair would cost $4,000. He was incredibly pushy, repeatedly pressuring me to approve the repair and making it sound like there was no other option. He made it sound like he was doing me a favor. Fortunately, my fiancée urged me to get a second opinion before authorizing the work. I took my truck to Silver Star Automotive, where James performed his own inspection. James was honest, kind and incredibly knowledgeable. He explained everything in such a way that I actually understood how a/c works. His diagnosis was completely different. The compressor clutch was NOT seized. The actual issue was a small condenser leak, which he repaired and recharged with refrigerant for under $1,000. If I had trusted the first diagnosis, I would have spent more than $3,000 on a repair that another qualified mechanic determined my truck did not need. Afterward, I learned that Chris had previously served time in prison. I can't say whether that had anything to do with my experience, but knowing that, combined with the intense pressure to approve an unnecessary $4,000 repair, left me deeply disturbed. To every woman--and anyone who isn't familiar with cars--please don't let yourself be pressured into expensive repairs. Get a second opinion. Ask questions. Walk away if someone is trying to rush you into spending thousands of dollars. That second opinion saved me over $3,000. Ladies: you can trust James with Silver Star Automotive

I had a tire blow out yesterday about 20 miles south of Les Schwab in Gardnerville... I had to have…read moremy car towed because a BMW does not have a spare.. The car was towed to Mark Smith Les Schwab in Gardnerville.. I don't expect them to keep the tire in stock so they told me it would be 2 days to get the tire.. They said i can go to get the new tire myself if i wanted the car earlier.. So I drove about 140 miles round trip and brought tire to them the next day.. The people who work there are great, very nice... The first guy told me it would be 60.00 to remove the blown tire and replace with a new one including ballancing and the tire dump fee.. Well I thought this was extremely high... When the work was done they charged me 52.99.. So i got the car back and brought it home... I kept thinking 53.00 is ALOT OF MONEY for the work.. So i called a competitor, just one.. There price was 28.00!! The reason the charge was so hight at Schwabb is because of CORPORATE!! I called the Corporate office and they could not care less..This is not my first time at this store.. They. manage to SCREW UP 3 brake jobs.. One screw up nearly got my wife killed.. The new brakes they put on were the wrong ones.. The brake hose was cut open by the hose rubbing on the inside of the wheel.... So the fluid came out resulting in NO BRAKES!.. Another job they did was on my F250s rear brakes.. They put the adjusters on backwards.. so instead of the brakes expanding while stopping in reverse they were expanding going forwards... They could not fix it so they gave me a refund and told me to take it to the dealer... so i did and Schwabb also broke the emergency brake cable... I would not take my lawn mower to them... I guess Corporated does not know who puts food on their table.... Never again..

I wrote the last review of this Pacific Gasoline station a little less than a year ago, and didn't…read moregive it much thought afterwards. Growing up, my Father and Grandfather owned and operated an APCO station in Estherville, Iowa, hence my tendency to review every gas station I come across. Gasoline is a commodity, so things like price, clean restrooms (as applicable), and convenience are my key interests in what is usually an unremarkable customer experience. Hence, a 3 Star "A-OK" rating is the most common. That's what this Pacific Gasoline Station received then and right now. I have filled up several times since the review, and what I wrote remains true today. So yesterday, I'm attending a Genoa Western Heritage Day event, look at my phone, and see that a comment had been added to my review. I've pasted it in below, and I'll have to say that it's rare to be personally attacked that way for a middle-of-the-road "A-OK" review. Looking at similar (and lower) Yelp reviews, it appears that I'm not the only one in this "owner's" crosshairs, who might not take such realistic comments well. Since this is a self-serve station and he/she isn't normally around to police customer experiences, I'll be sending knowing smiles and optimism his/her way every time I fill up. SMH. "Our business does not cater to the entitlement that you clearly displayed here in your review. Being a customer does not give you a right to patronize businesses because your ego has less than accommodating expectations. All businesses should be vigilant towards narcissistic customers like you. Thank you for saving our customers from the grief you carry around with you by passing on by."
