Purchases a 5 gallon container of oil and was told I could simply fill the same container back up with the used oil and bring it back for recycling. Sounds great! A few days later was told by another employee that they can't accept used oil in an oil container. That it needed to be in a different (clear) plastic container. So they're idea of "Green" is purchasing yet another plastic single use product? No offer to provide anything and not willing to recycle it. On 3/2/22 I went in As usual to buy oil and oil filter to change to my car . I talk to a young lady who went over and grab the items that I need it in cash me out. Upon taking my car to the shop to get it serviced I was told by the tech that the oil filter that I was given is not the correct size. when I tried to return that oil filter to the O'Reillys I purchased it at.I was told that I could not be helped because the part number on the receipt was wrong and was not the same product number that was given to me I let the cashier No that was the main reason I am returning the part because it does not fit you gave me the wrong part I should not have to deal with rude employees that do not know how to help customers correctly read more

This particular store is clueless. I was looking for a windshield screen for my wife's new car. I called the O'Reilly store on 2nd street in San Rafael and a helpful young lady advised me to bring the car when you come. I realized after that there was a store slightly closer on Francisco West so I went there first. The attendant at this store had no clue why I needed my car there. I told him what the gal at the other store suggested and he still didn't have a clue. It turns out that they come in two sizes, depending on the height of the windshield. I came to this location yesterday and needed my battery tested but I was told that it has to be charged first then it gets tested which takes an hour as most people know so I waited the hour just to come back in for them just to tell me the battery is bad. Having no choice I purchased a new one as I was told that if I purchase a new battery they will waive the $18 charging fee ( which I did not originally ask for) so I paid for it, installed it myself and went home but the next day I noticed that according to their website if I recycle a old battery core I should receive a $10 gift card even if not purchased from O'Reilly. So I called twice with no answer so I decided to take a chance and go out of my way to walk in to get my $10 credit. After I was waiting 8-10 minutes a worker and manager pass me by 5-6 times then decided to help a Latino customer ahead of me when he/she just got there. So I raised my arms up asking why he didn't help me only to be spoken to in Spanish. So he says to me " I need eh, the core battery" which I replied to "you already have it since I bought a new battery yesterday" he looked at the receipt and said "come back at 5pm and speak to Marcos since he helped you" I do not live in this city so I was not going to wait 1.5 hours so he offered the manager Pedro to come help me, when he finally came to me 5 minutes later he made sure to prep talk in Spanish as to why I've been waiting and what I needed. Then he comes to me and basically tells me "that's it right there" pointing at the receipt. "They charged you $18 and took it out" then walks away. What does a battery charging fee have to do with a battery core recycling credit? I was trying to show him the websites policy on my phone but he made sure to avoid me at all cost and help anyone else possible so I decided to leave and not escalate the situation and write this master piece up. He was acting as if the $10 gift card is coming from his pockets. Worst customer service (unless you speak Spanish you'll probably think it's cinco stars) I am Not surprised to see all the negative reviews. I also had to keep my trash and throw it elsewhere due to lack of trash bids outside. Worst customer service ever. I went in the store at 8am, the one worker was talking to a friend , I waited for them to finish and asked kindly if they do battery testing. Cashier replied yes but she is the only one in the store and the only other worker is driving and has "a lot " to do today, it would be a 30min wait time. I told her I can wait as long as she needed , to take her time because I understand being understaffed. She denied and said I should try somewhere else. I have always received great, non-sexist treatment here as opposed to the other auto parts chain. Everyone is always super helpful, they are relaxed and suggest ways of saving money. I just recently went in with my teenage daughter to get a lot of parts and fluids for her older car. Came in to buy something and after waiting 5 minutes in line I get up to the register and the phone rings. Instead of putting whoever it was on hold, Luis decided to proceed to help the customer on the phone while I was standing in front of him at the register. I found this to be extremely rude. He had already began to ring me up when he answered the phone and helped someone else. I stood in front of him for another few minutes while customers behind me were helped ahead of me. If you've already began to help a customer you don't start helping others you should concentrate on giving customer service to one person at a time or at least put them on hold. read more

It's usually a 4/5, people are literally just there to check you out, but will point if you ask where something is, with a flat facial expression But I'm giving this review 5 stars because Gary makes my experience a 15/10. Really funny and personal guy. If he's working, he says hi when I walk in and asks if he can help me. I told him I'd be right there because I knew where I was headed. Returned to him with two products, and he explained me the different uses between the two so I knew what I should walk home with. I told him about my project and he also had great advice and tells good jokes. Had a similar experience the next time I came in while he was working. I had someone else help me today who was also very nice, but I didn't catch his name. I feel in a business like this, it's up to the people to make the experience good, and Gary does just that. read more

Our car battery died over the weekend. After jump starting and recharging the battery, we brought it in for an evaluation. After a 1 hour diagnostic, we were told the battery was completely dead. The person at O'Reilly's commented that we actually had the incorrect battery for our car. Purchased a $200 battery replacement. Seemed fishy that a dealer would sell us a car with an incorrect battery (car was purchased new from the dealer and had only been serviced by the dealer). So we brought our battery to the dealer for a second, much shorter 15 minute diagnostic test. Turns out the battery was fine and the dealer charged it up for us for free. O'Reilly's refunded us and took the new battery back but it is very sketchy that they told us the battery was dead when it was fine. And also strange that they claimed we had the wrong type of battery. That was a red flag. I would not recommend this business based on our experience here. Had we not taken the battery for a second opinion, we would have been scammed by O'Reilly's. read more

I discovered that my headlight was out when it turned dusk, and Google directed me to the closest auto parts store, Napa Auto Parts, but the road was closed so I turned around and discovered that Google did not take me to the nearest auto parts store as there was one I had just passed: O'Reillys. Now I cannot compare stores since I never made it to Napa AP. The manager at O'Reillys was so friendly and helpful. He told me the part number and even with a line of customers, he quickly walked me back to the aisle and showed me vs letting me hunt for it myself. I was HIS CUSTOMER at the register and he was going to give me first class service no matter how long the line. Frankly, I was mildly inconvenienced by the little bit of wait, but when I got the service I got, I suddenly didn't care that I had to wait anymore! Then he offered me tools to fix my headlight, and I offered to leave my credit card as collateral, but he waived my card away and said "wait." He quickly came back with some paper towels and said "your hands will probably get dirty so you can wipe them with these." How about that? Then he came out to see how I was doing! And when I was finished he said, "restroom is for employees only but your hands got so dirty. Youre very welcome to go back and wash your hands if you'd like.". Maybe Napa AP is the a premiere Disney wonderland of Auto Parts, I don't think I'll ever know. If in the area, I know where I'll be going back. Totally sold! 10 star review if I could. read more

If I could give zero star, I would. My husband went in . Saw a deal advertised price. They said we had wrong filter . Adjusted filter . Then, they still didn't give price. Then, their excuse was it doesn't apply to that car. There was nothing listed about certain cars . First price over 50 . Second price 40 something. Advertised price 33.99. They refused to adjust to advertised price of 33.99. Same thing happened a few weeks ago. They over charged us serpentine belt. Price was too high. We ended up going to Napa auto parts. Customer service was excellent and price cheaper than o'reily. On more than one occasion , they took Spanish speaking customers in front of us. Overall place is a scam. Our mechanic said o'reilly parts are inferior but this is beyond ridiculous. Pedro has the worst customer service. He shouldn't be in sales period. read more
