My 2001, 330i BMW coolant light came on. You need to wait 24 hours for a cold engine to refill the coolant. Being a senior citizen and not knowing what kind of coolant to use, I viewed You tube, Amazon, etc. It's confusing because new BMW's use 50/50. The old ones need 100% coolant. Angel, the sales associate was great. His boss recommended 2 different ones, but Angel recommended the 100%. Being handicapped he placed the coolant in the engine for me. Needed wipers for my car. The Sales Associate spent 25 minutes scouring the store looking for the right wipers, tested several on my car to make sure she found exactly what I needed, and made sure to get me signed up for the warranty that came with them. Excellent customer service and very helpful. Been here a couple times prior to this visit and they were good, but this service was simply great. The wipers I bought are pricey but you get what you pay for, and I won't have to replace these new ones for quite some time. read more

Dear Volvo, You've forced me to review this Kragen Auto Parts because you've failed me. Actually, I should address this review to my Mom whose car she poorly takes care of and hands off to me. The service here is good. After asking numerous question about fluids I finally had one person come to my car to help me find out which fluids I absolutely need. I'm a newb to taking care of cars. My dear old grandfather would maintain the tire pressure, get the car serviced, check to see if there's oil, etc. Well it was never my car, I just borrowed it and that is the excuse I am sticking with. I was in this store about a month ago for the first time and was waited on by a phenomenal young woman who knew as much about auto parts as any of her male counterparts. I had watched her help another woman, by literally doing the physical work of connecting two ill fitting parts that the customer, admittedly, couldn't do herself. When I went up to the counter with about six different products, asking her which she would recommend, she honestly told me none of them, suggesting another one that I bought. Yesterday, I got into a jam that happens frequently with woman and their cars. I had an oil change done at a shop I was not familiar with. Terrible experience. When I left the place, I noticed my engine light was on. It had NOT been on prior to getting the oil change. I went back within the hour and the guy was insisting I needed a diagnostic at $150 to determine the problem. He also insisted the light had been on when I drove in, although he hadn't been there at that time. I knew I wouldn't get anywhere with him and was angered at the duplicity of this set up. Got two additional quotes for diagnostics over the next few hours, ranging from $95 to $165. What a scam this was proving to be for what I felt sure was nothing serious. I'm new to the area, didn't have anyone I could call for help and in a stroke of pure luck, ended up calling this girl at Kragen who had waited on me over a month ago. Fortunately, she answered. When I told her my story, she immediately called her mechanic and sent me over there (Luis of Peruva Auto Repairs) on Verdi in San Rafael. He was wonderful. Diagnosed the problem in minutes. The gas cap was mysteriously loose -- that gas cap should not have been touched and I will never believe it was a coincidence. He did not charge me, He was ethical, honest and trustworthy. And Genevieve, that extraordinary girl at Kragen's deserves all the credit. I ardently believe in publicizing great service and good deeds and this young woman deserves all the praise I am giving her. She honestly felt compassion for my dilemma and did something about it. I will be forever in her gratitude for that simple act of kindness, which is so uncommon these days. I hope this shop recognizes what they have in an employee like her. I came in to pick up my tire chains that I purchased at their other San Rafael store, but this place had it in stock. The guy looked at my receipt, gave me the chains, and moved on to the next person. No real customer service. I think the only thing he said to me was - "Chains are non-refundable." I went there because my son wanted me to pick up something for my car. He wrote down everything on a piece of paper. I waited at least 15 minutes for someone to help me and when he finally came he did not know what the part was. I left with a bad taste about their competence and knowledge. read more

I bought a starter and starter relay on one day, found I didn't need them, returned them on the same day. You managed to tap my account for the full price that day BUT IT TOOK YOU 2 FULL DAYS TO CREDIT MY ACCOUNT FOR THE RETURN. So, thanks to you, I overdrew my account and was charged a $20 fee for covering my bad checks. O'Reilly sucks and will never see another dime of my money. You have no regard for your customers. I went there last week to purchase a replacement light bulb for my headlight. This location had a much better selection than other stores. The service was friendly. They had all 3 cashier stands open so there was no wait. This is the second time I've been to this location, and both times I've found what I needed and had good service. read more

Pretty polite staff on the phone, and they usually have what you need there for most cars.

They're your typical auto parts place. The staff isn't very helpful or knowledgeable, but what else is new about that. They recycle your old motor oil free, so that is super cool, and their prices are pretty much what you'd expect. Beware of their weird parking lot though, you'll see what I mean. read more

So I had a little fender bender at the gym the other day and backed into a SUV which really sucked but luckily i just cracked a hole in the bumper. The impact was strong enough that it burned out my rear right turn signal which in turn threw off my hazards and made it dangerous on the road. I went into this kragen just because the dodge dealership had closed. Yomara was super nice and did a really good job fixing it. Not only did they let me take the light out and fix it first but she even did it for me. Who says women can't fix cars. Her customer service was awesome and you would think me being a guy and a huge car junkie that I would be able to do it myself. Because of Yomara now i know how. Thats why I love american cars. I was able to fix my crown vic myself too because it was a ford. You ever need excellent service and knowledgable staff, totally go here. I live in novato but prefer to go to san rafael just because of the service. Because i got excellent service I ended up buying my neon some more accessories. read more

The parts and customer services at O'Reilly Kragen in San Rafael are above and beyond. The windsheild wiper blades prices are cheaper than everywhere else that I looked. Plus, the sales associate, Genevieve, helped me put them on. When we had trouble with the rear blade, another sales associate, Oscar, was happy to help also. I highly recommend this store! read more
