Mini bbq chicken plate - 1 scoop steamed white rice, fresh cabbage/broccoli, 1 scoop of ono mac salad and sauce.

Take out - staff always welcoming, fast service and tables/seating clean. Saturday hubby was in town and before heading back, he stopped by to get us an early dinner. The mini beef and chicken bbq plates give the right amount of food for the prices. You have a choice of teriyaki or katsu sauces to pour or dip the meat in. The steamed white rice, cabbage and piece of broccoli are fresh. Balancing the total savory experience, adding an ono flare with the creamy mac salad. This is the "best" place in Tucson to eat exceptional island food that reminds us of Hawaii.

This is my second visit. The first time I got a BBQ Combo, it was very good. This time, I got the beef and chicken combo, which was again very good. I know it is traditional to have rice and macaroni, but it is too much starch for me. The orders come with two scoops of rice and one of macaroni. It is a typical fast-food setup. Order/pay at the counter, and they yell out your order. I am sure I'll be back. The food tastes good and is quick.

I'm so glad a Hawaiian BBQ place has opened up in Tucson! With Solid Grindz and Mama's no longer in East Tucson, options have been limited for me, so I was excited to try Oahu Hawaiian BBQ. I ordered the 3-meat plate with chicken, beef, and kalbi ribs, and it was excellent--a nice balance of smoky, sweet, and savory flavors. The meats were tender, flavorful, and not overly heavy, making it a very satisfying meal. I placed my order through DoorDash, and it was ready right on time. The restaurant itself, located in the former Smashburger spot, was very clean and welcoming. Parking can be a little tight since Roadies is in the same shopping center, but it's manageable. Overall, I had a great experience and definitely plan on going back again.

I will start by saying this is more of an Asian influence take on Hawaiian food. The gold standard in Tucson is Solid Grindz, I'm a musubi connoisseur and Oahu Hawaiian bbq missed the mark for sure on those. The rice to meat ratio was off, it's fully wrapped in nori and it's only supposed to be partially wrapped and the flavor is completely off. If you've had legit musubi in Hawaii it's not even remotely close. Let's get to the food, I ordered the combo that has 3 different meats and I will say that it very large portion sizes for sure you can split this with another person easily. The teriyaki chicken was ok, the katsu pork was my favorite and the beef was mid. They do have two sauces and one of them is really good I can't remember the name but it's not the teriyaki sauce. That's literally the only thing that stood out to me. If you've had the teriyaki chicken in the mall this is a very similar vibe vs Hawaiian food.

First time trying this place and it is literally our new favorite! Haven't found a good Hawaiian place in tucson, as my family is native to Hawaii so I know good Hawaiian. I got the combo plate with pork and katsu and they were both delicious. Also tried the short ribs and they are tender with the perfect marinade. Rice was cooked to perfection and the Mac salad is very similar to my grams! Spam musubi was excellent and the spring rolls were decent, not my fave. They also have teriyaki and katsu sauces available by the drink section. Service was super quick. We went on a Monday night about 45 minutes before closing and didn't feel pressured to leave either. It was quiet and we were the only ones there. Returning soon for sure!

I was glad to stumble on this place while at Crossroads. I've spent quite a bit of time in Hawaii and always enjoyed the food especially Kalua pork. I had the kale pork plate that came with rice and a salad. The pork was tender. The salad with dressing provided some flavor and moistness to the pork and it worked well together. They have some Hawaiian soft drinks available as well as the usual sodas. There is seating inside and some outside. You order at the counter and they will bring it to you. I'd go back to try another item. I enjoyed the meal.

To night we had a chance to try this newly open hawaiian restaurant. It wasn't busy, only some tables occupied. Very good and fast service. They have enough menu selections. The food that we ordered was delicious with generous portion & affordable price. I'm glad that we have one more option to dine out.

Did an online pickup. Food was prepared quickly and was waiting for me within 20 minutes for three plates. Pricing is good considering the huge portions. Chicken, Teri beef and Mac salad was decent. I can't say the same about the paper thin and hard chicken katsu. Definitely not "local" but a good attempt. Spam Musubi had sauce on it so either you'd like that or not. I don't. This said it was wrapped with a full half sheet of nori and not the thin band of nori that lets the rice fall out with every bite. Well contained so I appreciate that. That's how we do it!

Stopped here after playing pinball at Roadie's. Got a couple dishes to go, and the portions were amazing!! Once I got home I tried each dish, and I have to say....most excellent. I personally like a bit less sauce, but I will make that clear next visit. The musubi was completely wrapped in nori, and I have not seen that before. It was good, but different. Solid Grindz has been my go to, but they are closed quite a bit, and I was skeptical of another Hawaiian place having good food. This place is a solid "good". The inside is rather plain, but the people behind the counter are friendly. Worth a visit!

Quick service with hot, tasty & generous servings. Good for a couple meals! I've been here several times & it is a consistent value & very tasty.

I probably should have taken a photo myself, but forgot, so this is from the first image that can be found if you google, "musubi".

I have eaten here twice and both times I enjoyed the food. My birthplace is in Hawaii (Oahu) and whenever I can get a taste of the homeland here in the desert, memories are stirred. On my first visit, I tried the plate lunch with barbecue chicken. It was good eats, and the serving-size proportions were filling. I realize that every cook will put their own personal touches on the dishes they create, so even though it was not an exact match to how the food that is served in Hawaii tastes (at least, for me), echos and reverberations of the dishes that can be found in Hawaii are defiantly present . On my second visit, I was only seeking a snack to hold me over till dinner. I therefore went for the spam musubi option. I would be getting food that is similar in size and shape as two decks of cards. Spam musibi occupies a special place in my heart, as it exemplifies the food of my childhood. It is also a perfect example of how foods from all corners of the world have come to Hawaii and have been blended. I'm no musubi snob, but I found the musubi here to be really good. The cashier girl was overly kinda and brought to my table. It was steaming hot (too hot to touch at first, but that didn't stop me, and I went in--risking the loss of finger tips to 1st degree burns.) Patience is a virtue, but when it comes to musubi, each moment away from the tastebuds is an eternity. Sitting upon the rectangular block of sticky rice was a teriyaki-glazed slice of grilled spam. Making musubi is exceptionally simple (just a few ingredients) but man, do they come together well. The final ingredient needed is the Nori (it's a sheet of dried sea-weed). It adds just the perfect amount of saltiness. Now, if you happen to be reading this and the words, "Spam" or "sea-weed" or even "sticky-rice" are deal breakers... I think you should reconsider. The combination of flavors comes together like mixed-race person and creates something exceptionally beautiful. After peeling off the saran-wrap that encapsulates the dish while it waits for an "in the know" customer to order it, steam rose from the two slabs of this mid-pacific delicacy. I cautiously bit into the first portion, and it was as if my mom had just brought it over from the electric stove that she used to cook on when I was 8 years old in Kaneohee. Memories did stir. If you never have tried it, this is a good place to start your journey into Musubi--*and other mixed-race blended foods of Hawaii. If you do go, for about $6.00 you will get one small slab for you and one for a good friend or family member who wants to adventure-forth with their taste buds. Finally, there are a large number of options of local-style foods to choose here, so I am gonna come back and give them a try. But, while I was there on this second trip, I noticed a family that my spidey-senses told me had a Hawaii-connection. I boldly approached them and my hunch was confirmed. After a little chit chat about how we came to end up in Tucson, they shared that the "grinds" was, "cherrah" and "broke da mout. " (Those are examples of the local pidgin English that is used in the islands. Grinds is "Food" and "Cherrah" and "broke da mout" mean "Good" or "Yummy!" (full disclosure: I had not heard, "Cherrah" before that day. ) I could tell this family didn't use pidgin normally and thst they were being playful and "leaned into" it as a way to share a little aloha.

Authentic menu, good prices! Really enjoyed the food - generous serving size, flavorful kalua pork wo being too salty, just right, crispy katsu, fresh rice and, of course, delish Mac salad! Would order a quart if I could! Overall, nice service, self served sauces (the way to do it!!) Only gripe was there wasn't a spicy sauce for us non traditional spice lovers. I used to live in Hawaii & I miss the island food (and everything!!) So if you haven't tried Hawaiian food (think ultimate comfort food) try some! They've got something for everyone. If you already love the cuisine, give this place a try - writing this made my tastebuds decide we must eat there again - TODAY. Get in my belly!

I've passed this place for a few months and I've been meaning to try it. I finally decided to Pop in here on a Friday evening. It was a bit hard to find parking since they share a parking lot with roadies. Staff was nice and helpful with the menu. I got the Hawaiian barbecue chicken plate. It came with rice, macaroni, salad, and veggies. Food was very bland (meat, veggies and macaroni salad) No seasoning on anything. But Next to the fountain drinks, they have Katsu and teriyaki sauces that you can use. I got the Lilikoi passion can drink (passion fruit juice drink). I have been to several Hawaiian bbq places here and this one was very bland

I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.
