We went to Oak & Almond for brunch recently and had a solid experience. Their breakfast flatbread (a pizza, really) was tasty, with ample eggs, bacon and potatoes. It did slightly burn my mouth, though. That was entirely my fault. I didn't love the coffee - it was fine, but not as strong as I had hoped. For my meal, I had the eggs benedict with ham, which was good. The hollandaise was almost sweet, which I've never had before and enjoyed. The homemade English muffin was also really good, though slightly too crumbly. With all the food, though, I feel like it wasn't seasoned enough. Every dish could've used more salt, pepper and other spices. Case in point, the hash browns were basted in something resembling hot sauce, but had no real flavor outside of the potato itself. The kids menu also seemed a bit pricey - I think it was $14 for a grilled chicken breast and fries, which feels expensive especially considering other regular menu meals are around $16. The place was also completely packed on Sunday (we had reservations thankfully), so much so that they were turning away people for brunch who were walking in. So get reservations. We must have overstayed our welcome because either the owner or manager came by to essentially ask us to leave since we were there an hour and a half. He probably could have worded it a little more nicely, or at the very least asked us how we liked everything first. I'm not exactly itching to rush back to Oak & Almond but I'd give it another shot for another brunch in the future. Maybe not for dinner though because the menu looks pretty unremarkable. read more

I really do recommend this place to anyone looking for lunch or dinner around Norwalk/Wilton. Year after year, I have never had a negative experience and only have positive things to say. Recently, I stopped by for lunch and their Salmon Tartare was just amazing! It has this fresh lemon taste to it, I could not put it down. I also had the Caesar Salad with Salmon and the Salmon was cooked to perfection. For a drink, I ordered the Black Dahlia. SO GOOD! Another recommendation for anyone looking to try something new. I came here for a business dinner and they put us in a separate room which was nice and spacious. Both the Brussel sprouts and calamari were great, although a slight edge to the veggies for my taste. They usually have a long list of specials and I got one of them. I don't even remember what I got but I remember finishing the plate. I shared the lemon ricotta cheesecake with a colleague and this was good as well although I was so stuffed. read more

We are a party of two and ordered the wood fried chicken wings (my most favorite) - perfectly done with a beautiful sauce flowing around. The lamb burger was good (well done and assorted) and the fries were OK. The desert is also an above average. We have been here several times over the years. The food is always good. The Little Gem Caesar salad was very good. The lettuce was nice and fresh and the dressing very creamy. The organic chicken was tasty, but the spinach was hard to chew and the little potato's didn't have a creaminess and great flavor. They were soft, but not wonderful. My husband had the salmon which he really enjoyed. He ordered it medium rare and it was perfect. The wait staff was very good. They were attentive and helpful. There were a few things I did not like. The restaurant has atmosphere, but it is too dark for someone with poor eye sight. There are too many steps for someone who has difficulty walking. When you come in from the back parking lot, there is a step up to the path (but no curb cut). There are 3 steps once you step into the restaurant. The lighting is quite dark. And, because the restrooms are downstairs, everyone uses the handicap bathroom. There is no clear sign that it should only be used by the elderly and truly handicapped. The other item is the menu. There are way too many items that are spicey. Most of the specials had either jalapeño peppers and/or chili flakes. read more

Wonderful hidden gem! We've past this place so many times and never bothered to stop assuming based on its location it would be noisy or not very busy / popular. Wrong on all assumptions! Based on a recommendation we went for dinner one Friday and had a wonderful time. There is a large welcoming bar for those who fancy a cocktail when you first arrive however we were seated promptly so there was no need. We sat on the patio which is decorated beautifully and makes you feel as though you're sitting in a little village restaurant perhaps in France or Italy. The plants and decor really help to minimize the traffic noise so you hardly even notice it. We tried several appetizers including the chicken wings and prosciutto flatbread and were not disappointed. I will mention the wings are glazed which can make for a sticky mess and makes them a bit tougher to eat as they cool. But still quite tasty. For mains we had the salmon, truffle pasta and a kids burger (which is oddly not offered with cheese). Again, all our dishes were very enjoyable and there wasn't really any complaints. I will say the pasta is delicious but rich so be prepared if you order it. I've already sent other friends there and they've had similar experiences. If you want fresh (farm to table I believe) delicious food and a great atmosphere (and service) definitely add this place to your list. read more

I really wanted to like this place. When I got sat there, there were only 3 tables in our area seated, mine included. Took over 10 minutes just to get asked for water, let alone other drinks and food. Took another probable 20 minutes just to get our drinks, and another HOUR for our food (omelettes). Other tables, meanwhile, had been seated, served, and finished before we could even get our main meals. I have one very strict food restriction and waiter did not get it correct when preparing my food, which isn't too surprising considering he didn't write down any of our orders... easy to forget small details. The Brussels sprouts and shishito peppers were enjoyable. The bread was very tasty. Bloody Mary was delicious. Food was good, overall. Service is slow and terrible and ruins the whole experience, which is a bummer. Hopefully this isn't the norm for them, but a one off for me. read more

Dined at Oak+Almond on a Tuesday evening while in Norwalk for work. The patio lights, soft music, greenery, and lively environment drew me in from the beginning. Ordered the salmon tartare and brussel sprouts for appetizers and they both were good; the salom tartare was a bit too salty for my liking, the brussel sprouts were a good combination of sweet and savory. For my main entree I had the beet and blood orange salad with chicken. The chicken breast was okay but the beet and blood orange with the arugula was delicious! I chomped it down quickly. We had a warm chocolate chip cookie with walnuts and scoop of oreo gelato for dessert; both were good but not great. The atmosphere of Oak+Almond would bring me back! I have come here several times with my family. We came here on this night to celebrate my mom's birthday. We were starving so we grab some apps the brussels sprouts and the charred octopus were actually so amazing. Really loved the yogurt sauce that came with the charred octopus. Their Brussels spots were very good. Could've been a little bit crispier but we enjoyed them. I also ordered the linguine with clams, which was very delicious. A great simple wine sauce with a lot of depth. We have never sat outside before, but the outside seating is absolutely beautiful. It doesn't even feel like you're in Norwalk anymore. Great appetizer, salad, and brunch menu. I usually order the wings, fried calamari, and mac & cheese. Kale and farro salad is also delicious with grilled chicken. I would skip the entrees. Anytime I've ordered I've regretted it. Brunch menu is also good and they have a fairly priced bottomless mimosa. Service is quick depending on whether they're busy or not. I usually get great service and they come around often to check in. During the week it's a really chill place to get dinner and/or drinks. It's packed on weekends but you'll be good with a reservation. Expect to be there for min 1 hour. read more

The pasta was way too creamy and heavy it could've definitely used a different type of vegetable other than mushroom because that was too heavy. It needed peas or asparagus. It was the cavatappi with sausage and mushrooms The pizza was delightful it was sausage burrata and broccoli Rabe, perfect char on it and nice and hot. The ambience was really nice for Valentine's Day weekend they had candles and roses in the middle of the restaurant it was really beautiful. The drinks that we had were also really good I had the oak and almond. And we also had something with tequila I don't remember the name of it. Cute little restaurant. Had a business dinner there and I thought the entire experience was average. Nothing jumped out at me as excellent, and nothing as poor. My kale salad was flavorless (I'm not sure how that is possible given the gobs of goat cheese), but it lacked the right level of zing. The bolognese pasta was also just fine. My husband came here for a work event and raves about the food. He wanted to bring me so we came for dinner on Friday night. We had reservations, otherwise they were making people sit outside. It was too hot for that. We started with the charred octopus, which was delicious. Definitely not something I would have ordered, but my husband insisted and he was right. We also had the mussels, which he really liked, but I didn't. For dinner we had the filet mignon. The meat had no flavor. I was disappointed. Others around us seemed to be as well. I ordered medium rare, which was very rare. The table next to us had to send theirs back, as it was raw. Overall it was a nice evening, but not a $300 meal. read more

The food at Oak and Almond was just absolutely stunning. Let me tell y'all what we got - 1) Pork and Ricotta Meatballs: a mixture of pork and veal and ricotta meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce. The meatballs were so tender but not dry. Really good! The sauce was my favorite !! 2) Wood fired chicken wings: chicken wings in a honey glaze sauce and scallions. Surprisingly, not too sweet at all! And the wings were cooked to perfection. The char on the wings were 3) Salmon Tartare: salmon tartare with crispy bread. The bread could have been a bit more toasty. My fiancée says that it would have been nice if they added an element like onions to cut through some of the flavor and dimension. 4) Caesar salad with salmon for me and Caesar salad with chicken for my fiancée. Both were fire let's start with the protein - the chicken was charred to perfection and juicy. The salmon was cooked perfection. Had a crisp on the top and juicy, flakyness in the center. The salad - my gosh. The Caesar dressing was ultra cream. The pecorino cheese was the perfect add on. And the bacon was incredibly crispy. Hands down, the best Caesar salad I have ever had. And the egg!! Oh my gosh. The soft boiled egg. Who would have thought this would be a good add to the Caesar salad?? So creative! Overall - great experience, great food. Service was extremely slow. We waited almost 25 mins for someone to come to our table. After waiting a waiter comes and takes our order for appetizers and he never returns. Ordered mussels and fries . Mussels came no fries until later. I'm not sure if they forgot about our table or what. I had to go to the bartender and request that he come take the rest of our order . Once the bartender took over our table, things were a bit more smoother. The food was alright. Everything was just a drag. I chose the clams and linguini pasta, the rest of the table chose salmon, chicken, and the short rib. Overall it was a disappointment especially Bc it was my Moms bday. This place has typical high end new american food. The menu has all the classics for this genre - "wood roasted" this and "grass fed" that, served in a club style airy dining space. It nicely fills a food void for this area that is mostly fast-casual restaurants, pizza places, and pubs. There is ample parking. The outdoor dining area and bar are nice, except there is lots of traffic noise from the 7 connector. It's a safe spot to go if you want a nice upscale meal, but the ambiance is a bit lacking outdoors. Despite the uninspired menu, food has never disappointed. We especially enjoy their brunch. read more

Oak + Almond provided the perfect dining atmosphere for a mini reunion with some college girlfriends. Easy to find and plenty of parking, this restaurant is tucked away far away enough from the busy road it's off of to provide a relaxing, lovely experience. We sat outside on their beautiful patio with large umbrellas to shade us from the sun. Their brunch menu was filled with a variety of options, making the decision of what to order tough. The wait staff was helpful in being the deciding vote between the two dishes I was eyeing. We started with appetizers of Mussels and brussels sprouts; both did not disappoint! For my entree, I ordered the shrimp and burrata flatbread that was topped with broccoli rabe pesto and hazelnuts. The portion size was generous, and the combination of the creaminess and freshness of the pesto and crunch of the hazelnuts made this dish one I will remember and want again! A bonus to their brunch menu was an option to order bottomless mimosas for $12 or $6 bloody Mary's. I had the Bloody Mary which had the perfect level of spice! The mimosas stayed flowing but ordering a second Bloody Mary did pose a challenge, having to ask several times before it was brought to the table. The ambiance in this restaurant was very inviting and I loved the look of it. I ordered one of the specials which was a seafood combo of salmon, ahi tuna and halibut over a bed of spinach. The seasoning was pretty basic, seemed like only salt and pepper. The ahi tuna, I was told would only be seared lightly but I received it cooked fully and a bit dry. It was an ok entree, my other choice to order would've been the ribeye which I wish I had ordered instead. I ordered an elderberry cocktail which I thought would come much more fancier than how it actually came. It was basically a Tito's and soda with a touch of berry flavor. This was my first time dining here after always passing it on my way to work. There is enough parking so you don't have to worry about that. The service is great from the host to the wait staff. I got the Bees Knees gin drink and it was so refreshing. Honestly, it was prepared pretty well compared to other versions i have tried elsewhere. I got the cavatelli dish was was so delicious with mushrooms and pieces of sausage. I would say if you're coming with just one other person then try to request sitting away from the 2 tops by the window. It was chilly there but other tables were taken. Partially my fault since I asked for not too rare in the middle, since usually it is at other places. So it was too well done and not as tender as it could have been. But the flavor was there. The parmesan fries were good. Very good, fresh, soft rosemary bread came with the meal. The beet arugula salad was delicious. Very fresh greens, beets and oranges. Though the portion was pretty TINY for 14 bucks! Would have preferred it with goat cheese instead of the blah ricotta salata... Perhaps would ask for it next time.
