This great restaurant easily and graciously accommodated 7 of us coming in on a Sunday night after a concert. The bread (and butter!) provided were incredible and we couldn't get enough. My wife and I tried their eponymous house cocktail and their Martinez, and both were delicious. The food was all wonderful, although the burger bun was on the dry side. Most importantly, my wife left her water bottle behind, a fact we realized when we were already halfway back to NYC. She called, and the owner was very helpful and mailed it to us. Thank you! I've been to Oak and Almond for lunch a bunch of times, but recently went in for dinner. Lunch is always great there. The service, ambiance, decor, location is great. I had a Caesar salad and an appetizer for dinner. The Caesar salad is always very fresh, however it had way too much grated cheese on it. It was over power and dried out the salad. My friend had the 'seafood salad' special and he wasn't impressed. Barely finished his meal. I was kind of disappointed because I go there so often and it's always great. Either way, 4 stars for all of my past experiences and the consistently great hospitality. read more

Just had the octopus and a salad at the bar. Sadly the service was not so hot. It took the bartender a while to get to me (and it wasn't too busy when I arrived) and then he didn't get my "dressing on the side" right- salad was over-dressed too. The food was fine... Excellent wine list and craft IPAs. Love the new heated, tented terrace which allows for distancing and lots of light in the early evening. I recently enjoyed both a delicious lunch and dinner at Oak + Almond. The food is fresh and creatively prepared. The salmon tartare, burrata, and roasted Brussel sprouts are great starters; We had the tender short ribs with creamy polenta --delicious; the linguini with clams --perfectly cooked. For dessert we had tiramisu--fresh and full of flavor. The staff is experienced and professional. Plenty of parking, too. read more

Been here a few times, my boyfriend lives in the area. There is no denying it's very pretty inside, but the service is always terrible, because of the open kitchen you can see when the chef is on his iphone or at the front making a phone call and the food is actually disgusting. We tried a few things a few times but the last straw was shrimp + grits - it was a grease bowl and the shrimp did not taste or smell fresh. It went right back to the kitchen only to be told by the server that they chef said the shrimp we fine and I was wrong?! never again. read more

I came to Oak + Almond to celebrate my friend Martina's birthday last Saturday and was pretty impressed by the food and ambiance of this restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and features a great menu and wine list. Since it was a rainy evening, we were sat at a booth inside near the open kitchen which was great. However, the ceiling was dripping and a towel was placed by our feet the entire meal. I would have thought they would have brought us an appetizer or something to apologize for the inconvenience, but nothing. Now to the meal: To start, we shared octopus and olives, and then shared 4 main courses - 2 fettucini alfredos, salmon and shortrib. The shortrib was exceptional while the pastas were just a-okay. We also had 2 bottles of wine. I told the restaurant it was my friends birthday and they actually had the nerve to charge us for the dessert after spending so much on the rest of the meal. Only was here once and will return next time I am in town without doubt. The charred octopus, a favorite food choice of mine, was perfectly prepared and was an exceptionally large portion. Tough dish to get right, they sure did it right this night! Went with the steak and potatoes, another hit. Charred to perfection and pink in the middle, just the right amount of season with a generous portion of potato. Had the pleasure of attending a birthday party in the banquet room at Oak and Almond last night. On the whole, flavors were amazing but everything was a little colder than it should have been. The bread had a good crust and texture, with a hint of rosemary and salt. My pork meatball appetizer was also delicious and I loved the chunky tomato sauce they were covered in. The grilled skirt steak entree came with a lovely panzanella tomato salad that brought back memories of my Italian grandmas summer garden salad. There were more than 30 people to serve at once. I will have to come back with my boyfriend to see if the food is hot when only two people receive it at a time. Our two waitresses were very attentive and kudos to the restaurant for accommodating splitting the checks 20 ways. After dinner we moved from the wood clad banquet room to the cave like den of the bar. A decent selection of beer on tap. I came here for a bridal shower and the decor, service, and food were all wonderful. This is an amazing place to have a gathering. The outdoor area is quaint. The inside is rustic and smells of their wood burning oven. I enjoyed their calamari, meatballs, and Margherita pizza. The wood roasted organic salmon with farro was also excellent. read more

Met with my Fairfield county gals for Brunch on a Sunday. Had been there when it was Tuscan Oven a long time ago. Decor is nice kind of Industrial/stylish but still warm & inviting. We did bottomless OJ mimosas for $10 which was fine though after an hour we had to flag servers down for refillsand there was a secret mimosa going around not offered to us that was Cranberry & champagne - letting you know if you want to ask for it. Food was very good and I thought reasonable. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich - very yummy. The mac and cheese with duck confit starter was very good but would have been better with out the duck . Shrimp flatbread had too much sweet balsamic glaze, Eggs benny on biscuits with smoked salmon was good too. I will definitely be back - good menu options, food was tasty and ample, good pricing and during brunch $5 bloody Marys, $10 all you can drink mimosas and 50% off bottles of wine. I was in town for a wedding and it was next door. We got drinks, appetizers, then a main course. After dinner we all guessed what the yelp rating would be for this place. Everyone was guessing 4.5 stars. We were shocked to see the low rating. The food was incredible. The service needed improvement. My advice to yelp people, come here and enjoy the food, acknowledge you may have some awkward service. To the restaurant: talk to your service staff, encourage them to be more outgoing, it will go a long way. I would def eat here again. read more

Don't be scared away by the banner sign! Came for a Sunday dinner with the children (ages 6-13) and left extremely happy. The kids meals looked and tasted amazing, not an afterthought like some restaurants treat the kids meal. Our main courses were wonderful. Service was excellent! Ambiance and venue is fantastic. Service so far ilia mediocre. You would think that they are all crying about being closed that to be open with COVID service would be impeccable. But the power outage from the storm has not helped and it is packed. Took us 20 mins to get a waiter to take our order that we flagged down. We sat down and the table was not set or cleaned Covid wise. Busboy was great and cleaned our table super well when we asked and filled out waters 3 times! Wtg for our food and were told by our waiter that the kitchen is swamped but they are at 25% to 50% capacity. Oysters were fantastic. Salads were great. Had the grilled octopus appetizer and wood fired salmon for the main dish. The food was prepared well. Our waiter was very busy outside and toward the end of our dinner I slipped over to find someone to tell our waiter we wanted to order the flourless chocolate cake with a birthday candle for our friend. Turned out to be a nice surprise. Ordered cappuccinos and finished the evening. Cost around $90 each with the tip. Nice place. read more

I've been here a few times in the past but I've just moved back from Denver and I met up with some friends for an early dinner. We got in right as they were opening and were promptly seated. One of our party was familiar with a bottle discount they offer on Sunday's so we asked our server just to be sure, he was a bit out of the loop and said he doesn't usually work the weekends. After checking he came back and told us it was 50% off bottles over or under a certain price (can't remember but it was a great deal vs buying glasses). We ordered the crispy calamari and some oysters to get us started. The calamari was crispy and not oily, the sauce that came with it (chipotle mayo) was delicious as well and complimented the lightness of the breading well. We split a half dozen oysters and they were all clean, not a ton of sand/grit and the vinegar with red onion they are served with makes for a nice shot when mixed with the briny oysters. For main course I was tempted by the lamb burger but ultimately went with the duck special. The dish consisted of sous-vide duck legs served over a bed of fig jelly and green beans and garnished with arugula. The duck wasn't as tender as I had anticipated, but the combination of the greens with the duck and fig jelly was pleasant and light. Overall a nice dish, nothing mind-blowing. For desert we split the bread pudding and tiramisu. I'm not a huge fan of bread pudding and this dish didn't make me a believer. It felt more like a piece of coffee cake covered in a thick sugary sauce. I personally opted for the tiramisu as this is my favorite desert hands down. This was the best part of the meal. It certainly ended things on the right note. Fluffy marscapone accompanied with lightly soaked lady fingers that remained airy and moist while still delivering a bit of espresso and alcohol on the finish without overpowering the more delicate flavors. Overall it was an enjoyable meal. The restaurant was not too crowded inside where we were sitting and we were able to take more time than we should have at our table without being bothered. This is restaurant week. My coworkers And I decided to give the restaurant a try. From the moment we entered we didn't feel the service was very good. The front desk did not want to share the restaurant week menu with us and when we got to the table we had asked for the menu from the server. I've eaten here twice now, once for a business meeting over lunch a few months ago and again for dinner on a Friday night. I scheduled a reservation for my Friday night dinner because I know it can get crowded. We arrived about 5-10 minutes early and were seated right away. The service was prompt and within just a few minutes we had ordered drinks and had bread brought to our table. The grass-fed burger is easily the best hamburger I've ever had, though I tend to eat at cheaper places so the $17 price tag was a bit much in my opinion. My boyfriend had the salmon and commented that it was less than he expected for the price, but that it tasted fantastic and had a nice texture. The atmosphere is nice and for some reason I just love the aesthetic of the cutting board serving as a plate that the burger is served on - it just fits right in with the mesh of upscale but rustic feel the restaurant has going for it. Overall the price is going to make this a "special occasion" place for me but the food is fantastic and I can't wait to eat here again. read more

Visited friends in Stamford and they took us here for brunch on a Sunday. They had only good things to say about the restuarant, but unfortunately my experience was not so great. I ordered the fritata and it was as if the chef had dropped an entire salt shaker in the dish. I am known for not liking salt but even my salt indulgent companions agreed it was very heavy on the salt. I normally would have sent it back but it took them a long time to even get the meal to the table so I just had a few bites and gave up. I did share a ricotta and lemon pancake, but I thought they were not that fluffy and dried out. I will say that the decor was nice and we did have the fungi Flatbread which was great. Just the extra salt and dried out pancakes have turned my stomach. read more

Went to Oak + Almond this weekend for the first time and it was better than I ever expected!! We heard about this resaturant from another couple that we know that comes here regularly. Me and my husband asked to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day and the hostess was extremely accommodating to our needs. We shared the burrata and salmon tartar as an appetizer and it was amazing we almost forgot to leave room for our entree. As an entree I got the bolognese which is a meal that everyone needs to try. Finally dessert! By this time in the night we were both already so full but the restaurant had just redone their entire dessert menu so we had to order one of the new desserts and it was worth it! Let me start by saying the ambiance and restaurant is gorgeous. However I have a few complaints I must address. I made reservations for myself and my date. When we arrived they pushed us to sit inside even though almost everyone else at the restaurant was outside - fine, not a huge deal if they didn't want to overload the patio. However, for the next hour I watched 16 (yes, I counted) other couples get seated outside, with and without reservations. Not one other party was denied the opportunity to go out on the patio. While the inside was host to myself and my date, and two families with children. We couldn't help but feel as if for some reason we were denied access to the beautiful patio. This wouldn't have been the biggest issue but then our food ended up being subpar. The lobster ravioli was hard to the bite as if not cooked fully. Our appetizer we had was great though and our server was very nice and friendly. All in all I would like to give this place another shot someday as it may have been an off night for them. However, the mediocre entrees and strange decision to not allow us outside left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. read more
