A little away from the heart of Norwalk on the way to the Burbs you'll find this nice haven of freshness and farm-to-table smoked goodness. On a crisp early spring evening it was toasty inside, and that smell invited me in. I could imagine pleasant summer nights eating in the outdoor space. Calamari for a starter was excellent, that is after I discovered and ordered Allagash White. This and several interesting choices exist on the drink menu. Now for the main event: I almost chose a flatbread, maybe the mushroom or prosciutto getting the nod of the four which all looked good. My wife would have been torn between the margherita since it has basil or prosciutto with arugula, no on second thought she'd pick the basil every time. But she wasn't here tonight was she.... So on, away from thflatbread, it's down to lamb sausage or grass fed burger (no disrespect to the other strong contenders). Our waiter said the burger was a can't-miss, so who ever wants to miss a "can't"? Not I. This burger was huge and messy like it should be, Gorgonzola the main tasty culprit there, and the cipolloni jam added a nice kick. We also got Brussels which were crispy and sweet. I believe there was also bacon... Also I guess there's emphasis on the "crispy" since they were delayed due to the first attempt being a little too crispy (burned). Worth the wait though. Nice spot, and I'll enjoy a return trip when I can to try out a few other items. read more

Came here on a spur of the moment lunch for a birthday. Everything was great. The waiter was very pleasant and my two LOs (7 & 4) thought he was great. He paid them enough attention to where they felt like they were important and not too much that it was annoying to the adults. (If that makes sense). For the food. Everyone love their meal. I don't review lots of restaurants but I have to give a BIG shout out to Oak + Almond. What a gem!! Farm to table food. We have never been there but the food and service were absolutely SPECTACULAR. We went there for a post wedding reception. Plenty of socially distanced outdoor dining plus inside dining. The inside of the restaurant is also beautiful too. I had to use the bathroom (super clean). The restaurant was clearly marked with red arrows with a path to easily get back to my table. Can't wait to go to Oak and Almond again. You must try this place if you haven't been!!! They are definitely making it work, especially during covid times. Everything was delicious: fried calamari, wings, meatballs, Caesar salad with farm eggs, Mac and cheese, kale salad, homemade fettuccine with bolognese, short rib with CREAMY polenta, and tiramisu. I saw multiple mice on their outdoor patio last time I was there. I mentioned it to the waiter who said, "there's nothing we can do because we're outside". I love the food here and the ambience of the outdoor patio, but this particular waiter was not attentive or friendly, and seeing mice at a food establishment makes me question their cleanliness. read more

We continue to try to be safe but did venture out more this weekend including picking up dinner at O&A. They did an awesome job packing our order for the ride home. Everything was in its own package so that the hot chicken did not wilt the cold arugula and even the crostini's were put in the bread back so as to not get soggy with the burrata. The Chicken Milanese was crunchy and very moist. Lamb burger was an adventurous choice for my daughter- she loved it and I had a pretty big bite as well the burger was juicy and the toppings were great. The Prosciutto and arugula flat bread was perfectly done. The Beet salad was enjoyed by my wife and she said it was fresh and tasty. We really appreciate the care that staff had with our entire order. No mistakes all well packed for the ride home and a great attention to detail. read more

Oak & Almond never disappoints. In fact it exceeds my expectations every time I come here. I always come with friends and family as we love it. But my favorite time is the weekend - best Brunch by far. Amazing Eggs Benedict (the hollandaise sauce is to die for!). However, the bottomless mimosa's help me forget about the week and enjoy my weekend even more! . And the staff here is the best! Having just moved to Norwalk I revisited Oak & Almond twice in the past couple of weeks for lunch and dinner. Both experiences were enjoyable and the food was well prepared and tasty. Service at dinner was a little inconsistent with various people taking the order, bringing the food, etc., so no one person seemed accountable for our table and the staff never returned to check on things or offer additional drinks. Overall though, the quality of the food was excellent. With more attentive service this would be a five-star rating. read more

The Oak + Almond offers Great food and atmosphere. Food is mostly or all farm to table organic products. They're quick to serve and the food is always tasty! But It can be pricey, especially the SPECIALS, so be careful. They can be pricer than the regular menu, they are not at a special price just dinners not on the regular menu. Which in my opinion is Not the meaning of "a special". All of their food is great and a special on their own Why not offer a specials menu on paper so you have your options without the embarrassment of asking for pricing or finding out the surprising price on the check?, like I did. Most of the servers are great, with a few exceptions, who might forget you at times, but the food makes up for it. Busy places can be like that, especially when you have a couple of large tables to attend. If you're not too full from your bread, appetizer and dinner, don't forget desert! They have a great Tiramisu desert to go with your after dinner drink whether it be a cappuccino or espresso martini. If you're interested in eating here on a Friday or Saturday night, I would suggest you make a reservations because seating can become limited at times. So, overall I would love to give them five stars but their 'Surprise Special Pricing Menu', as I call it, is a no, no for any patron especially in this day and age, so I dropped a star. I will still return and suggest you try this restaurant out but be prepared to ask questions. read more

We've been here many times and haven't had bad food or a bad experience. In fact, we had a great brunch a couple of weeks ago with my in-laws, but tonight's dinner definitely brought our opinion down a bit. I will say the food was excellent as always, but this time the experience just wasn't up to par and definitely not what I'm used to from Oak + Almond. I made a reservation that said we were celebrating a birthday and it wasn't acknowledged. We were also sat in a room with a large party with several very loud teenagers when there were plenty of other places that a couple could have been placed. Once the large party finally left, our server was not very attentive. It could be because we said ahead of time we were just doing an appetizer, dessert, and coffee so it wouldn't be a huge check. We wound up with an empty water glasses, and at the end of the meal after waiting nearly 15 minutes after the check was dropped, I had to walk up front to pay - where I saw that our server was sitting at a table with many other staff members just chatting. I know it was the end of the night, but there were still customers at the table. I had an electronic gift card and only after I paid was I informed that I couldn't tip from the balance and I would have to use cash. I had no cash so asked if I could use a credit card - I was told I'd have to be charged for a soda or something then I could tip. Thankfully my husband did have some cash on him to tip for the not so stellar service. We'll be back to give things another chance because we still have some money left on our gift card. Just had lunch at this restaurant. Was pleasantly surprised. Its tucked in next door to the Norwalk DMV. Nice lunch menu. I had the beet salad with shrimp. Nice portion and very fresh. The gentleman sitting next to me had the flat bread that looked absolutely delish. I was served bread with their flavored butter as I waited for my friend. Service was very good and friendly. Nice restaurant with lovely ambiance and a garden in the front visible through a portion of the inside seating. Fireplaces in more than one room added nice cozy touches to seating options. The bolognese pasta was nice with fresh pasta and a dollop of ricotta - would do it again. We also split the pasta which they separately plated for us- which was very nice. We also ordered the rib-eye special which was heavily charred - like strips of burnt black sides and burnt asparagus. The ribeye was also topped with a weird salsa of sorts. It was not a favorite but we are traveling and didn't want to deal with the hassle of sending back with over 5 hrs left in our drive. The signature namesake cocktail was nice but the elderflower fizz was strong and unbalanced. Staff was very nice and attentive. What a beautiful restaurant. Very large, yet cozy inside with great ambient lighting. Everything seems very upscale and fancy but prices are reasonable. The drink menu had nice options between cocktails and wines available by the glass and bottle. There was also a discount of 50% off bottles of wine under $100 when we were there (Sunday night). The menu had lots of great options to choose from. We skipped appetizers, though they did have many to choose from. I had a cavatelli dish with a truffle sauce. It was delicious and definitely something I'd be back again for. My boyfriend had a lamb burger that he was very satisfied with. Service was friendly and attentive. Hubbie asked for medium and came out well done. Potatoes and spinach were well salted Prosciutto wrapped monkfish: first time trying monk fish. Had the scallop texture that was described to me. The outdoor seating is lovely in the summer and fall. They'll put out heat lamps in the fall time. Wine selection is robust. Definitely a great place to celebrate life achievements. Oak + Almond is in the 'fine dining' category for Norwalk, as far as I am concerned. Obviously that may be a different standard than in NYC, for example, but it shouldn't take away from the experience and the food here. The ambiance is quite nice, with lots of windows, an almost rustic feel. The service is better than at a less expensive restaurant, and I would hope for nothing more. One of my favorite things to get at a restaurant like this, when not a steak, is braised short rib. OR, anything braised. This is a slow-cooking process where the connective tissue in a tough cut of meat gets broken down into gelatin, and becomes similar to the consistency of fat. In other words, it makes the meat tender and amazing. This particular dish included 'anson mills polenta, baby carrots, citrus gremolata'. The polenta was creamy, and filling, and the carrots a nice hearty touch. But, it all came together with the gremolata, a fancy word for green sauce. Altogether, a worthwhile dish and visit. I might go back, and try to find that 5-star dish I know they have. :) read more

Classic New England restaurant as soon as you walk in, it's warm and cozy. I came here for Sunday brunch after hearing good reviews about this place. The place was crowded, and they had just opened a few minutes ago. Luckyly we had reservations, so we were seated right away. They have some of the typical brunch staples, like bottomless mimosas, bloody Marie's, and other drinks on their menu. The menus were already on the table so we started by ordering drinks and array of appetizers and the main meals. It was quite a few of us, and I'm not covering every dish. Nice decor and it looks like a good place for groups. I've been twice now and while the food was decent(when I actually received it) it certainly didn't come at a reasonable price. The first time I came was for brunch. Everything was good, but nothing was amazing. That said, our server forgot about us for a while and I went a good 15+ minutes without a drink. I had the croque madame which was fine, but I've certainly had better and my lady friend just had a salad. Both of our cocktails were tasty, but like I said, I had to wait quite a while on my second one. I didn't want to leave a negative review just based on one visit, so I didn't. Then came this week when I went to my first "patio happy hour". It is a beautiful patio, minus the road noise. Some great prices on drinks and some amazing sounding bites. I ordered a beer and some wings. I then drank my beer slowly. I then ordered another beer while glaring at the bartender because it was taking to long on the food. I drank half of that beer to see him finally go back and check to see what was going on only to have him tell me that they didn't have wings, LOL! A little bit late to be telling me this now..... He comped my 2nd beer, which is good as I only ordered it because my wings were taking so slow, but I'm not sure how they could take that long to not realize that they don't have wings. It isn't that big of a happy hour menu, you'd think they discuss those kind of things before the shift started as I showed up right at the beginning of happy hour. If a group wants to go, I'll go again, but plenty of other places I'd like to try first before going back. read more

Oak and almond has a warm, inviting atmosphere and waitstaff that truly care about your meal and experience. Our cocktails were fantastic, one of the best parts of the meal actually! The Black Dahlia cocktail mirrored a cosmopolitan with tequila and the Moscow mule was perfect. We started our evening with the beet salad which was delicious, though could have used more balsamic. Our pasta dishes were cooked well, though I also found the norcina to be slightly bland, and could have benefitted from some more seasoning and flavor. Danny made this experience a memorable one. All selections from appetizers to main course were truly well-made and very tasty. My fiancé enjoyed the bottomless mimosas while I delighted in some Aged Hemingway Daquiris and Espresso Martinis. We started off with some calamari and wood fired chicken wings which where extremely tasty! Our entrees included the grass fed burgers and wood roasted salmon (not pictured). Oak and Almond is a favorite locally. We probably dine there once a week and the food and staff never disappoint. While we usually go as a couple, we recently dined with 12 including three toddlers. The staff was patient and engaging. It was a busy place but we never felt rushed. You might be surprised to find such a beautifully appointed restaurant with exceptional food right next to the Norwalk DMV! We were! Don't hesitate to go!
