Tenderloin and sweet potato fries with bourbon maple mayo
    Deanna A.

Tonight was our first time here and we are already planning a trip back. We were seated right away, waited on immediately by Fonda who was very attentive, friendly and helpful when we were deciding on our selections. My husband ordered a Coors light and I got a Blueberry Lemondrop which was very tasty and arrived quickly. We chose the crispy Cajun alligator and lobster mushrooms as our appetizers and were not disappointed. Our dinners were the Hoosier Pork Tenderloin with sweet potato fries and the surf and turf. The tenderloin was large, well seasoned and my husband enjoyed the toppings it came with. The sweet potato fries had a bourbon maple mayo for dipping... hello my new friend! The Surf and Turf consisted of 3 filet medallions (prepared just as I ordered) and 3 huge seasoned, grilled shrimp. Grilled onions, mushrooms and onion straws on top and I got the whiskey peppercorn cream on the side. Asparagus and smoked Yukon potatoes rounded out the meal. I took a portion of it home along with a slice of pumpkin cheesecake we'll share later. This was a great dinner experience for us from the moment we entered until we got in our car to leave. Every employee we encountered was polite and professional and they worked together seamlessly to ensure things were running smoothly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bathrooms were very clean and the decor was warm and tasteful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can't say enough good about our experience here

Parmesan crusted chicken and carrot cake.

The food was incredible. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken. Family member had the fish and chips. The service was very good. Our food took a little longer than planned and without asking, we were given a free dessert! We honestly didn't even wait that long. Prices are a little on the high side, but I would come back again for the quality of the food and service. Willing to pay a little more when the food is this good! Entire experience was very very good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also appreciated sitting next to the warm fireplace on this cold day![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Off season, obviously, but cozy and friendly atmosphere on a gloomy rainy day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Randomly in the area and decided to stop. Our server was wonderful (wish I could remember her name!) I was. Disappointed they were out of alligator for the tacos, but my wagyu tacos were good. Hubs had fish and chips and was pleased with the portions and flavor. Cheesecake in to go boxes for later at home!

I'm genuinely very surprised at the amount of good reviews this place has! Went here last night for Valentine's Day, so granted, probably one of their busiest days of the year, and they had a reduced menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got seated in the "family" room for some reason, despite being a party of 2, which was very loud and informal for Valentine's Day?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered waters and drinks, and both of our waters had brown stuff in the bottom of the glasses, which is disgusting for an upscale restaurant! (See photo attached)!! Do better! We got rolls as an appetizer, they came with cinnamon butter which was good, but the inside of the rolls were not even warm enough to melt the butter..? Then we waited ~45 mins for the meal to come out. My date ordered the parmesan crusted chicken, which had good flavor but was very dry. I ordered the cavatappi alfredo and added lobster to it (+$9), and when it was brought to our table it had been sitting for so long that all of the noodles on top were completely dry and had no alfredo on them whatsoever. The alfredo sauce literally tasted like milk with a little bit of cheese and entirely sank to the bottom of the plate. Storebought jars of alfredo are better than whatever I got served, especially since half of the pasta had no alfredo at all! I could genuinely have bought better alfredo pasta in the frozen aisle at Walmart. I haven't even mentioned the lobster. I'm not sure what I was doing ordering seafood from a restaurant in Indiana, but I figured their lobster and seafood must be alright since it was in 3 different dishes on the Valentines menu. But this was probably the worst seafood I have ever had. The lobster was so chewy and cold, and had no flavor at all. This was a disgrace. I can't believe we would have this kind of service on Valentine's Day at a restaurant that had seemingly great reviews! As a side note, we did get the chocolate lava cake, which was decent. That's the only thing I would ever consider getting here again.

It's a farm to table restaurant which is a plus for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walk in and you get the rustic feel right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Found the menu to be AMAZING we wanted the Cajun Alligator but they were out so we ordered the Lobster stuffed mushrooms which was an excellent choice. I came for the BREADED PORK TENDERLOIN and let me tell you it did not disappoint at all and a Great value for $14 with homemade pickles and pickled red onions. The Hubby had Wagu Beef Taco's he said the meat melted like butter. It was busy in the bar area but our server Jessica was on point with the care she gave us. Would it be a return trip heck yeah just wish it was closer

I absolutely loved my experience at Oak and Barrel in Monticello! The food presentation was so good, I forgot to take pictures. I got the Parmesan Crusted Chicken and the crème sauce on the chicken made the meal. We have several food restrictions in our family and the chef came out himself to help us know what to order and was happy to make accommodations as needed! We had a great time and will definitely be back!

Fun early dinner! Great grilled tenderloin and refreshing flight!

Amazing early dinner, grilled tenderloin was delicious. Loved brisket egg rolls and the margaritas flight!

Waited hour and a half for our food and my husbands chicken was totally burned. They did not offer to comp anything until my husband pointed out the totally burned chicken and my niece had to leave with her baby without eating since it took so long to get our food

I drove 45 minutes to try this out with a reservation, but they were closed due to a kitchen problem. I would have appreciated a phone call.

We stopped in with a small group (11 of us) around 7:00p on a Friday and secured the last two tables available. The service was a tad slow from the get-go but when our waitress came around for drink orders it was firing it all cylinders! (I wish I could remember her name but she did say her sister owns the place) She was an absolute pro and took care of everything we could've asked for without hesitation. She was a treat! Oh, and I feel like she created their POS system b/c she knew how to make that thing bend to her will! The menu seems small but it is packed with all kinds of things that anyone would be able to find something. I went with the Mango Habanero wings and they were delicious! Someone else went with the Home Run sandwich and raved about it. Needless to say, everyone was more than happy with their orders! The dining room was also a pleasant experience. Not quiet but also not loud, the perfect amount of ambiance to feel like a typical sports bar (with more restaurant feel than bar). There are ample tables of all sizes and plenty of TVs, plus a jukebox (which was turned off for "dinner time", which was perfect). We absolutely loved our experience at Rugie's and cannot wait to return again next time we're in the area.
