My husband and I stayed at the Grand Geneva and dined at the Chophouse for dinner. For starters, it's great to have high-quality restaurants onsite so that we don't have to venture out for meals, it made it feel more all-inclusive just getting to stay on the resort property. It's your standard steak house vibes in terms of ambiance - classic decor with a lot of leather. They have lovely floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course and we were lucky enough to be seated right next to them so we had a view. There was a mix of dress wear, some people coming right from a round of golf and others more dressed up, it's definitely 'higher end' feel. Our waitress was lovely, very informative and patient when it came to food & wine selection (a really great wine menu!). We ordered Oyster Rockefeller, the steak special and the scallop meal. The Rockefellers were delicious, it's always one of my favorite things to order! The scallops were cooked nicely, but the dish overall was lacking some flavor. Thankfully it had the pancetta in in it which helped elevate the meal. The steak was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavorful. Had a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night. They were quite busy. Beautiful space. Not overly noisy. We were staying at the resort so we saved this dinner for our last night. I'm glad it was so good! We started with the meatballs. The cheese included is Parmesan not mozzarella. For dinner he had a ribeye and I ordered the lamb chops. We also got the king crab Mac and cheese. I'm not a huge fan of mac & cheese, but I do like crab so I had a few bites of that, but I wouldn't order it myself. My lamb chops were amazing. I would order those again for sure. Work took me to Grand Geneva Resort and Spa this week. Craving for steak, checked out Chophouse. Atmosphere was very romantic with a perfect lighting overseeing the Lake. My server was Danielle, she was awesome and make good recommendations. Started with Lobster Bisque, wished the serving was bigger, LOL. Wagyu was only 6oz but packed with flavor and instantly melts in your mouth, followed by Foie Gras, which was amazing and very fatty. Not your everyday meal but it was so good. This was a birthday celebration for our mom and my brother. It was "meh". We were there August 2nd and it was a beautiful evening, the restaurant was busy but my brother and I had never been. I thought the design of the hotel was really nice and I loved the look of the restaurant. Our service staff was Rebecca, she was awesome. Very knowledgeable of the menu, friendly and sweet. Give her a raise, I have read many great reviews and she was fantastic. This place should not be called a chop house, I have been to several, mostly Chicago. A chop house will bring out your choices of steak, this way you can clearly see what you are eating and for the prices of the steak on the menu is absolutely ridiculous. My brother ordered the ribeye and it looked like flank steak and it was grilled for $70.00, not very good. A steak should be sizzling on the dish with garlic butter when it's presented to you. These prices are Chicago prices??? Why? The cocktails were overpriced. My mom had the lamb chops, excellent, I had the branzino filled with crab, very good. Also tried the fried burrata, that was delicious and the lobster bisque was so amazing. The Geneva Chophouse positions itself as a high-end steakhouse in the mold of Morton's, Del Frisco's and Capital Grill, which are all steakhouses I've been too. The Geneva Chophouse fell well short. Here's 5 reasons why. 1. Hot. The outside temperature was in the 90s. The temperature in the restaurant was in the upper 80s as the air conditioning was not working. This should never happen in a high-end restaurant or resort. 2. Not hot. A $78 bone-in ribeye should be sizzling as it arrives at the table. My steak was warm. I dare not send it back as it might take 20 minutes for it to return after the rest of our party had finished eating. My wife's halibut was also served warm. 3. Service. The restaurant was understaffed. A server should arrive in 2-3 minutes instead of 10. Water service should begin immediately. In total, we were there for 2.5 hours. Our first cocktail took 15 minutes to arrive. 4. Expensive. The bill for our party of 6 was $1,100 or about $185/person. That's worth it for an excellent meal and experience. This fell far short. 5. Ambience. We were seated next to the kitchen with heavy traffic walking by our table all evening long. The best restaurants are fanatical about service, the quality of the food and the total restaurant experience. The Geneva Chophouse is none of these, which suggests that management is satisfied with mediocrity. read more

AVOID! Staff was telling people that despite having reservations, tables not ready and multiple people already waiting. People were very unhappy with this, including us. Staff loudly discussed amongst themselves that they get yelled at every night because tables are never ready at reservation times. I am asking my employer to avoid any retreats here in the future. Pork chop was out of this world! The accompanying potatoes were scrumptious. The dinner rolls came with a brush of butter on top. Delicious. The lobster bisque was very thin and it only had two pieces of lobster in it. Danielle, our server asked how it was so I showed her and she agreed with me. She sent the manager Carl over and he also agreed with me and offered to take it off the bill or replace it . On his recommendation, I replaced it with dates wrapped in bacon, his favorite. And they were fantastic! The wedge salad was very good, loved the dressing, but the vegetables, etc., were on the plate, displayed separately, and I found that tricky to mix it all up with my salad. I would've preferred bacon instead of pork belly. But that could just be me. Took a piece of cheesecake home and that too was dreamy. Surprisingly, they did not have Coca-Cola on the premises so a Jack and Coke or a rum & Coke were totally out. And we all know that Pepsi is not the same as Coke. That was very disappointing. When my husband has a cocktail, which is rare, that's his go-to drink. The prosecco I ordered was not available, but Danielle suggested another and it was delicious. So no problem there. The view from the dining room, where we sat, was incredible, truly a "Grand View". This place is so huge that it was difficult to find where the restaurant was in the complex. None of the signs listed either restaurant. That was very frustrating. Once we walked into the main lobby, we had to wait to talk someone behind the desk to ask for further directions. It would have been helpful to have a sign displaying which direction to go. In conclusion, we would've given this a five star review had it been easier to locate, that the runny soup wouldn't have been served to anyone, and that they did not have Coke. Once I notified the waitress I was vegan she let me know of several sides that could be made vegan as well as the vegan entree option available. We had a reservation, we called to confirm it. We were unable to get ahold of anyone and finally spoke with Jennifer, a resort operator. She was kind enough to make sure that the reservation we thought we had we did. Once coming back from being on hold she confirmed with us we had a table. She apologized for the confusion and informed us that desert was on them this evening. Upon arrival we were seated at a very nice table near the window, once seated a young lady approached us and dropped off an envelope. The front of the envelope had our name hand written on it. Inside the envelope was a very thoughtful hand written note as well as two gift cards for a complimentary drink or desert. Jennifer is GOLD. Now to the food, we both had amazing meals: we had the Delmonico ribeye steak (cooked perfectly), wonderful seared scallops with a delicious mushroom risotto and a side of lobster Mac n cheese as our side which was nice and not too rich. Both Andy and Owen were very welcoming, leading to some really enjoyable conversations about food and wine. I know it's a steak house but the Branzino is pretty fantastic as it's topped with crab, spinach, lemon, and butter. Great flavors! The Delmonico Ribeye was perfectly done and had such a nice presentation. Brussels (that honey on top! Yum!) and the Crab/lobster Mac were great sides. This was our first and last time visiting the Geneva chophouse. I booked a stay here two months before we came. When I called to make reservations for this past weekend back in December, the person taking the reservation asked if we had a table preference. We did not so she suggested a corner table by the fire place. On a quick side note we did not book a stay and come here for Valentine's Day, we came to celebrate both mine and my husbands birthdays. Come February 15 we check in for our reservation and are placed in the middle of the dining room in a half circle booth. Then there is a prefixed menu placed in front of us. When the waitress came we asked her if we get to order off of the regular menu and she said no they were only offering this menu because of Valentine's Day. We were never informed that they were only offering this menu nor did it say anything on the website and it wasn't told to me when I made the reservations back in December. The menu was 6 small courses with wine pairings, neither myself or my husband drink wine. Although the food that was served was good, it was also not one of the items my husband and I were looking forward to ordering. I was extremely mad and disappointed that we were not informed of this menu because we would have went somewhere else for dinner. They of course were not going to make us stay but 6pm on the Saturday of Valentine's Day weekend.....where else were we going to go? It was also disappointing that management put their staff in that position. The waitress said every table she had that night were not aware of this and there were even tables being sat and then getting up and leaving once they found out you couldn't order off of the regular menu. I wish I knew where they were going instead because we would have followed them. To top it off, not that our server wasn't worth a 20% tip but when we got our bill there was a 20% "large party gratuity" charge when it was just the 2 of us that ate and we were not aware that would be added to the bill either. I really wanted to like this place and no matter how good our server Korin was and the food that we had was decent, I was just unhappy with 2 months of planning was not worth it. The steak was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning. The bernaise, which was served on the side had a weird taste. Almost lemony and slightly sweet. The crab was a crab cake, which was just ok. We came here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. They had a nice booth all set up for us, and our server congratulated us right as we sat, I was very pleasantly surprised. Darlene was very hospitable and kind, she was very patient with us and suggested different things we may like. The restaurant is gorgeous and cozy. One piece of feedback that I would like to provide is - please take Foie Gras off the menu, as it is an especially cruel practice in which they shove a device into a duck to force feed/fatten them up for their liver, so humans can consume it. read more

What an amazing dining experience. We had the opportunity to sit inside near the window with a beautiful view on to the Lake. Much better view than the other Italian restaurant at the resort, Ristorante Brissago. Our waitress was knowledgeable about every dish and wine we had questions about. For an appetizer we had the bacon wrapped dates. They were sweet and salty, and the bacon was smoked amazing. We split the Chophouse Salad it was very good. We also had the French Onion Soup, it was amazing. The Gruyere cheese was amazing and set the ton for the whole dish. It's a heavy soap so if getting steak be sure to split this dish. My entree was the wagyu steak. It was a Manhattan cut. It was shaped like a filet and had the texture of a sirloin. The steak was a Australian A8 steak. It was pretty tender, not as tender as I expected wagyu to be but the flavor....oh the flavor. It was my first time eating waygu, it was unlike any steak I have ever had before. I got it done medium rare, and it's the first time I wish I had a steak more rare. The more I got to the center the better the flavor. They seared the outside of the steak to make a crust and I had almost wish they hadn't because the flavor rare was so good. My wife had the Delmonico Ripeye. It was juicy and flavorful, the best Ripeye I have ever had. So good and tender and fatty. I was eating Waygu wanting another bite of Ripeye (I need to find a waygu Ripeye) We finished with the triple chocolate cake. It was amazing unlike most triple chocolate cakes that are so rich they have the dark chocolate bitterness. This was was instead smooth and silky. I would have had more if I didn't have a rich wagyu steak right before it. Overall an amazing experience, but be ready to pay for it. read more

The rest of the food on our $280, anniversary tab was an ABSOLUTE ZERO! Let's start with the watered down lobster bisque. THE ABSOLUTE worst I've ever tasted. It was completely watered down with two bits of lobster total. TWO! The $29 DRY, king crab mac and cheese was another disaster. Kraft mac and cheese would have been more mouthwatering! This EXPENSIVE DISH CAME COMPLETE WITH 1-2 bits of king crab, was bland, without any flavor whatsoever! Finally, the Amish chicken was a tremendous disappointment with its baby chick like features. This restaurant was not worth it. I'm sorry I left Chicago to go to this mediocre chop house, passing hundreds on my way there! NEVER AGAIN! Don't waste your time and money!
