Oak Avenue Catering We were guests at Domaine Carneros This past Friday, December 13,2024. Unfortunately our whole meal was lukewarm at best. The ravioli stuffed with butternut squash, less than warm. The New York steak was presented well. But again lukewarm at best. Angela and her team were an absolute pleasure to work with and pulled together a dinner for 165 people that ran absolutely flawlessly - in the middle of a field during a rolling PG&E blackout! Sue the catering captain is on top of everything and runs the event like an absolute pro - as an event planner it makes life so much easier to have someone like her in charge. High quality food, high quality service, high quality business! We hired Oak for our wedding pre-pandemic and had grand plans that they helped us formulate for some great meals. When we decided to have a 10 person gathering with just our immediate family instead of our original plans due to regulation changes and safety, Oak did not bat an eyelash when we asked them if they would still work with our downsized event. They worked with us to deliver a small feast that was SO tasty, and amended the contract so that it wasn't a financial burden. I would have recommended these folks in a second for the quality of their food and service, but they really went above and beyond. When other vendors ran away with our deposit, Oak was so willing to work with us to make the day easier. This is a long overdue review, and thank you to such a great place. read more

BEST HOSPITALITY I HAVE SEEN IN A CATERING COMPANY!! 5 Stars are not given by a true Yelper...Its earned! And I have to admit that all the workers here had truly earned this review! I first found out about Oak Avenue Catering when they catered an event at the Sprint Mountain Winery during the weekend of 9/19/2015 and I was totally impressed. The menu was limited but it was absolutely delicious. The menu for the day was: Two different types of pizzas were made in the pizza oven: ~Margherita pizza: with tomato sauce, Basil, Garlic and Mozzarella ~Mission Fig, Gorgonzola, Mozzarella, Pine nuts and caramelized Onions There was a delicious mixed green salad that was served as well which had summer vegetables, Goat Cheese and champagne Vinaigrette. The cooks made the pizza from scratch everything came out fresh and HOT! This is a fantastic catering company for many different events that are being held as they served tons of different varieties on their menu from appetizers, buffet, brunch, family style food, dinners and many more! Big shout out to the workers that came out that day to make it a special day: Tommy, Kyle, Amelia, Andre and the server Chidto. I will definitely use them in the future! read more

They do everything so carefully & they look like they're having fun while doing it! Their food is so good & when they do the decor it is perfect! They're supervisors are always so helpful & easy to talk to. I know how frustrating it can be for them to stay calm under pressure but they're great. I attended an event at a large winery in Napa a year ago. The food pairings were AMAZING, better than most restaurants I've ever eaten at. there were thai dishes, duck ragout with egg noodles, and so many more I lost track! But what I didn't lose track of was, "who made this food????" I was given the card by the servers, and am very impressed. A catering company called Knickerbockers in St. Helena. Unfortunately, I live a ways away from Napa, or I would definitely have to find an excuse for a party of some sort out my way! Knickerbockers catered our wedding last October (2008) and when I tell you, I think we have never had a better meal, I mean it! We had about 60 guests at a vineyard in Napa and the cheeses (for cocktail hour), the steak, chicken, vegetarian foods - were all fabulous. My husband still raves about the steak he had and we live in New York, home to some of the best steak houses in the country! I have never expected much at a catered event... timing of preparing so many meals (I thought) always ensured that none could be perfect... but they were. Nothing was over or undercooked... the meals were honestly the quality you would expect if you were eating at a fine restaurant... temperature (about which I am very fussy), presentation... all of it! Our wedding cake was spectacular - a carrot cake with white chocolate cream cheese icing - it was fresh and moist - which is next to impossible for a wedding cake, I think. I cannot say enough about Knickerbockers. They VASTLY exceeded my expectations! read more

I rarely post on Yelp anymore, but I felt that Oak Avenue was worth it to break my Yelp-silence. I recently got married in Napa and had hired another catering company for our reception. Unfortunately, that company unexpectedly had to close its doors, so we had to find a new caterer about 5 months before our wedding. Oak Avenue came recommended by our wedding planner. They took our original menu from our original caterer and managed to recreate it - possibly even improve upon it. We had opted for 4 different hors d'oeuvres for cocktail our and then a choice between short ribs or halibut for dinner. Everything was incredibly delicious. Guests have been raving about the food we had even weeks after our wedding. The service was fantastic too. Working with the team at Oak Avenue throughout the planning process was smooth and stress free. On the day of the wedding, the service staff was polite, attentive, and really on top of their game. The food was one of the most important elements of our wedding, so I wanted to make sure I had a chance to at least have a bite of everything we had ordered - and I did! While we took photos, a server came down to meet my husband and I and our wedding party and asked for drink orders, and and other servers promptly came down with trays of hors d'oeuvres, drinks and water. And during dinner, while my husband and I went around greeting guests at their tables, the staff politely and discreetly came up to us and told us when our food had been set at our places, so that we knew when to break off and eat. So not only did I actually manage to eat enough at my own wedding, but I was able to enjoy every bite. If you're a foodie bride or groom getting married in the Napa area, I highly recommend Oak Avenue. And even if you're not big on food, go with Oak Avenue anyways - you won't be disappointed by the flavors and the service. read more

Highly recommended for a wedding caterer in Napa Valley! We planned our wedding from Minnesota, so we didn't have a chance to taste the food or the wedding cake - but when the wedding day came, every morsel of food was an enormous, delicious, fabulous success thanks to the incredible team at Oak Avenue Catering in St. Helena. (1) Cocktail hour was beautiful - every item and beverage was yum-yum-yummy. We all had such a wonderful, happy, belly-filling time after the ceremony! If I could just get my hands on one more ahi tuna crisp....I have dreamt of them every day of our honeymoon. (2) The main meal was PERFECTION. Somehow they sent out the best-prepared salmon I've ever had, not just at a wedding, but in any restaurant as well, including the incredible restaurants in Napa. The steak was heart-meltingly good, as well. (3) Wedding cake!! We are nuts about cake, so we ordered 3 wedding cakes (smile). I was a bit nervous ordering the wedding cake through our caterer rather than a specialized bakery, but it was the best decision. Oak Avenue's owner is a pastry chef and it showed. We ordered 3 different flavors and each one was better than the next - superduper moist and they tasted oh-so gourmet. Every guest had a favorite and bless the Oak Avenue team for boxing up the leftover cake for my honey and I to take on our honeymoon. Yes, we ate it all guys... (4) Above all, the best part about working with Oak Avenue was the team. From our incredible and committed event planner Tracy, to the brilliant and kind chefs and staff who made our wedding day happen. Oak Avenue took care of every detail from planning the menu, managing rentals (tables/chairs/etc), setting everything up (like our favors, menus, etc) and turning out delicious Napa food. Everything was beyond perfect when I arrived to walk down the aisle, just as every part of working with Oak Avenue has made my heart go pitter-patter. My daughter was married last weekend in Napa (Sept 12, 2009) and we used Knickerbocker's as our caterer. They were so easy to work with prior to the wedding, very flexible with the menu, and willing to accomodate all of our needs. Joanne, the event planner as well as the entire staff are just really nice people. Chef Shannon put on a feast to die for. We had so many positive comments about the food, service, and how nice the servers treated our guests. I don't think most people expect really fantastic food at a wedding but they got it at ours. I would definitely recommend Knickerbocker's for any event where exceptional food and service is a must! read more

Knickerbockers made a delicious menu for our wedding, and were willing to customize dishes to our liking. They are very flexible in what you want to do with the menu, and any alterations you want to make. The food was very well made, and the staff professional. They provided servers to pour wine, distribute the food, and cut the rest of the cake. We were very impressed with the staff and the quality of the food. The tasting session also went very well, and they were able to tell us where their ingredients come from, which I appreciated. Knickerbocker's also provided silverware, plates, and glasses. We used Oak Avenue Catering for a family pizza party at Whitehall Lane Winery, St. Helena, on 09/28/17. OAK AVENUE WAS PERFECTION! Working with John Diba prior was great, with Oak Avenue showing flexibility and creativity at every turn. At the event, the huge wood-fired oven was positioned at the entrance of the garden and garnered big "OH!s" from the guests. Oak Avenue staff was in place when I arrived 1-1/2 hours prior to the event. All staff immediately were of help in every way, thinking of everything that could contribute to the evening - including offering gluten-free and vegetarian pizzas which I had not requested. (Special thanks to the wonderful Fran!) The food was fresh and delicious. We had so many, many compliments on the pizza - some saying it was among the best pizza that they had ever had. And the smiles and happy, positive energy coming from all the Oak Avenue staff just took their contributions to the successful evening over the top. Knickerbockers provided a PERFECT experience for our wedding, which took place on June 21, 2011. My husband and I could not be happier with the service they provided. Our review is based on the following criteria that we felt was important in selecting a vendor for this most important aspect of our wedding: quality of food, customer service/professionalism and flexibility. Flexibility- Knickerbockers was willing to go "above and beyond" to work with us and my multiple food allergies. The chef introduced himself during our tasting and explained in great detail where the ingredients came from and took the time to assure us they checked each of the ingredients for allergens. They were more than willing and happy to work with us and our concerns. Additionally, they were willing to listen and be open to our critiques of each of the dishes, however minor. Quality of Food- During the tasting, the food was all amazing! At the wedding, the food was hot and the meats, seafood and vegetables were perfectly cooked, something that's hard to come by with standard wedding fare. Additionally, the portions were generous, a very important component for our group, which included big eaters. Overall, the five-course sit down dinner with wine pairing was paired perfectly with each of the components complimenting one another, thanks to their assistance. Our guests cannot stop talking about how wonderful the food was and how impressed they were by it, as were we! Customer Service/Professionalism- A final component that makes Knickerbockers stand above the rest...It is so nice to work with nice people who answer all of your questions, respond to your emails and phone calls and do so in a timely manner. What a difference this makes! People who care about what they do and pay attention to detail like Knickerbockers staff does takes away a lot of stress and makes the planning process so much easier. It is hard to find people with these general courtesies, and Knickerbockers does not fail to deliver in this area either. We love you Knickerbockers! read more

Oak Avenue Catering provided the food and service at Silverado Vineyards for our 50th Anniversary Party. The food was absolutely wonderful -- our guests were delighted! We especially recommend the salad of seared sea scallops and raw tuscan kale, with apples, fennel, endive, radish, hazelnuts, pecorino cheese and calbrian chiles! From appetizers to dessert, every course of the meal was delicious. The service, led by Sue, was attentive and excellent. Oak Avenue Catering (formerly known as Knickerbocker's) provided 5-star service, excellent attention to detail and not to mention the gourmet, quintessential Napa Valley cuisine for our recent wedding in St. Helena! We feel very lucky to have had them cater our wedding, as they don't do many (they are quite popular in the valley - book well in advance). The owners, Chris & Shannon Kelly, really worked with us on our budget, and John Diba, the manager, was great with follow up and very patient with our last minute adjustments. Everyone raved about the food and how their team was able to pull off such a gourmet dinner for 105 people in the middle of a vineyard on a mountain with scarce electricity! Additionally, they staffed the event just right and no one was ever waiting for a drink to be refilled or wondering where their plate was. We served a mozzarella/tomato starter, had a chicken, short rib (boneless) and vegetarian dish. Chris made us a beautiful cake with lemon custard, cream cheese filling and a champagne infused buttercream frosting. My only regret is not taking the time to eat my entire plate! Good thing I sampled everything at our tasting and I'm already looking forward to enjoying more cake at our one-year anniversary. Absolutely a 5-star experience and meal. I cannot say enough good things about their work. From the moment I contacted them to get a quote, until the last dish was cleared, they delivered at an exceptional level. Our sales associate, Angela, responded to my request for information within hours and continued to be both responsive and highly professional throughout the process. She helped us customize the menu for our event and provided insights and advice that went well beyond the role of just a catering company. The food for the evening was delicious and the professionalism of the staff on site was off the charts. They arrived early, helped set everything up in a positive, efficient manner, and served both the food and wine beautifully.
