For example: Boar's Head provolone was on sale for $6.99/lb -- never have I seen this anywhere! They have a salad bar w/some hot items ($10.99/lb); sandwiches & burgers made-to-order; pizza; sushi. A group of us were wine tasting in the area, and we stopped here to charge our EV and for snacks. This is such a beautiful, clean store. It reminded us of how Whole Foods used to be before the Amazon takeover... original items, good variety, a well-kept store and pretty displays, and many local products. We ordered a variety pack of muffins (Apple spice, marble, orange cranberry and pistachio), a sushi roll, lentil soup, and some other drinks and snacks to share. This store has a good balance of brand-name items (Coca-cola, etc) as well as local, organic or niche products. We didn't try any of the hot food bar but it looked soooooo good... I will come back for the gigantic stuffed artichoke! We loved all of our food... even the sushi was legit! Made fresh in the store every day. I would be here all the time if I lived in the area. Valley Fresh is a welcomed new addition to our area. It fits right in with other higher end supermarkets in the SLO area, like Whole Foods, Lassen's, and Cal Fresh. In fact, some workers from the Pismo Cal Fresh have been rumored to have moved up to this store. Like Cal Fresh, or Lassen's, Valley Fresh Market is also a small local family run chain with only a handful of stores. This is great for the locals since they can offer more customized specially made products, and pivot far faster than corporate behemoths like Whole Foods. I had a nice conversation with the evening manager one night when it was rather late, but very quiet. This was after a friendly store worker actually walked with me to find Chocolate syrup, which was hiding near the ice-cream offerings. I also had a pleasant visit to the Butcher area, and the worker there was really helpful as well. Everyone that I meet that evening was supervise. The new store is fun to shop in since everything is very Fresh and new on the shelves. Here and there one can find bargains, or hard to get items. The stand outs seemed to be the Butcher area, as well as, the Deli area. They do stock fine proteins and even high end Franks, or Aged Prime Beef. The Deli had tasty looking sandwiches, and Eclairs on display as well. I found some things that were hard to find in the SLO area, like some choice canned or bottled high end Seafood, and fresh ground Cashew Butter. The Seafood was even a few dollars cheaper than similar offerings at WF or Cal Fresh. For locals, this place is like a new and upgraded Cal Fresh, but placed near the Northern end of Atascadero. It is nicely located right off the 101, and only one block away from the Grocery Outlet. read more

New Store in Atown! Reminds me of Whole Foods. Located on El Camino and Del Rio, in the new Del Rio project is Valley Fresh! This modern layout grocery store is super clean, spacious, and has a great selection. Love they have more organic products than the rest of the stores, other than Gather. A lot of fresh food. Really loved this store when it opened. Still love their great selections. Lovethe way gluten free items are labeled clearly. Lately though have had not great customer service in the bakery, deli, and checkout. A young bakery person ignored me, chatting with another customer until I gave up. Deli " lost" my order. Checkout person demands my bags before I can get to them ( under the groceries in the cart) and I had to get her to double check prices bc I was being overcharged. Produce is usually great but lately more is yellow and near discard state. I love this store as it has so many pluses, but fear a few things are dragging it down. read more

Fabulous selection of teas, chocolate, veggies, drinks, and meats. The staff is courteous and helpful in locating products. The store is new and ultra modern. I love their sale items. High quality merchandise and good lighting throughout, so you can find items. Shopping carts that actually work properly. Plenty of parking. Someone wanted to buy a cake at night time, when the coffee area was closed. A staff member made sure he was able to access and then buy it. They used team work to get the job done. read more

This place is gouging, and I can prove it. I asked them how much to buy a baked potato at a supermarket cold the guy put it on the scale. Tell me $14 I could not believe my ears. Disappointing first time shopping here. Came in for a weekly special: breakfast sandwich and a coffee for $5.99. It was unclear where to order it, then the deli gave me grief about making one after 10am (it was 10:15 but no where was it posted that the special had a time limit). Then the register rang it up wrong, nearly $4 more. As I was shopping the produce two employees were shit talking about how poorly the store was run. Not a good look! They also bragged about how one of the premade salads was made from ingredients that should have been donated or thrown out but they chose to push it a day or two farther to make some extra money. Doesn't give me much confidence in coming here for anything premade. Yuck. read more

Clean store, a few friendly staff, well-priced prepared foods. However my experience was marred by one of the checkout staff (female-presenting, blonde hair, glasses, middle-aged). After purchasing our lunch for the day, my husband needed to use a restroom, so he kindly went up to her and asked if there was one in the store. At first, she pretended not to understand what he said, then he politely asked again. She did tell him where it was and he walked in that direction. Not sure if she knew I was with him, as I was a couple of tables away. After my husband walked away, she says to a colleague after rolling her eyes, "we really should say we don't have one." And laughed at how many times they get asked. Two things: 1. Maybe have signage so your patrons can wayfind public restrooms more easily. 2. Reinforce good customer service practices and don't be so rude to paying customers. Two fucking stars for this experience. read more

This store is very clean and set up like most stores. They do offer more organic options. In my opinion, I don't think it's any better than other grocery stores product wise. The are also a bit different, because they have a bakery, deli, and sushi section that is has more of a selection then other grocery stores. They also differ because they have ready meals and food that can be purchased and eaten immediately in their dining area. Their prices are about the same. I wouldn't drive out of the way to go there, but if I am in the area, I would shop and eat there. read more

Staff were polite, but the store clearly needs better training and coordination. I went in to return an item I didn't need. There was only one checkout open, while three other employees stood nearby chatting. At one point, four of us were waiting in line. Suddenly, the two people behind me disappeared -- apparently another register had opened -- but no one came over to call the next customer, which is usually standard practice. When I finally reached the counter, the cashier was unable to process my return. Her supervisor came over several times to scan a badge but didn't step in to assist, as she seemed preoccupied with her phone. Eventually, the cashier gave up trying to process everything together, returned the items separately, and handed me a mix of notes and coins. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and unnecessarily frustrating. read more

Amazing new addition to Atascadero. This store is extremely unique with items you won't find anywhere else, their meat department has specialty cuts that you'd come to expect from a local butcher. Every isle will intrigue you as you discover numerous interesting items you won't find at any other grocery store. The store is clean and they play great music as well. They have a huge deli, bakery and coffee Shop ( where they roast their own beans!!) you're in a pinch and need to grab a quick lunch or dinner. A shot out to Katherine as well!! First time shopping in our new Valley Fresh Market today in Aratascadero. Beautiful store. Very clean and well stocked. Personnel were friendly and helpful. The deli and bakery are incredible. I could just stop by there to eat and nothing else. From fresh sushi , poke bowls and baked chicken and pastas. Too much food to list and they all looked and smelled wonderful. Only issue that prohibited me from giving it 5 stars was their pricing. On an average their everyday items like bread, eggs and milk etc... their prices were higher than every other store that I shop at in the area. As an example a loaf of Dave's Killer bread is 6.29 at Smart & Final but at Valley Fresh it was 7.49. I'll probably stopped by if I want some sushi, baked chicken or fresh baked pastries but until their prices are competitive I'll buy my groceries elsewhere. read more

Last weekend my husband and I were in the area for a wedding. We live on the east coast and were looking forward to the wedding and touring wine country. Wanting a light dinner we got soup and salad for my husband and salad for me. The next day my husband had food poisoning. You are probably wondering how we know it came from here. Up to this point we had eaten the same things either the exception of the lentil soup, I only had salad. Well needless to say he was unable to enjoy the wedding or able to go wine tasting. I didn't see one vegan premade option, and I was excited to check out the salad bar, and the only fresh veggies were literally raw white onions, and tomatoes and lettuce. The clerk at checkout was excellent! But, the female box person was terrible. I asked her about the price for a watermelon and she gave ma a sarcastic look. The display for the watermelons didn't have a price for them. She was walking by me getting a price check on a product for another customer. I picked up a watermelon and took it to the checkout. The clerk told me the price by scanning the code. I later told the female box person the price. She mumbled something that I didn't understand. I don't know if she was having a bad day but don't take it out on the customer. The only mistake I made was not getting her name. Nice clean store, fully stocked. I had two problems. I asked one employee near the bakery/deli who I asked to get something out of the bakery display case. He just shined me on like I wasn't even there. Absolutely no response. The second one was I asked the butcher for 2 of the ham and cheese stuffed chicken breasts. When I got home over 75 miles away I found out that I got 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts. Most of the employees are friendly but these two are not customer friendly. read more

Bakery Review: Again, a labeling issue. The bakery has free samples of their muffins. Delicious however, when I wanted to buy the one I sampled, they did not know which muffin flavor it was. The four pack of muffins did not have the muffin type written on it. So, they guessed and silly me, bought it, It was the wrong one, I tried it in the store. They replaced it with a different muffin which I took home. The next morning, I realized it was a blueberry muffin! I dislike blueberry muffins and never would have bought one. I haven't shopped the whole store, but I have gone to the coffee bar. And it's wonderful. They are fast, their coffee is spot on and the woman named Janet is who waited on me. She is so sweet, not to mention fast, and my drink is perfect every time. They can make any kind of coffee drink you prefer. They even roast their own coffee beans right there in the store. Also I want to mention their breakfast burritos special that includes a coffee for way cheap in price but not quality or quantity. I can't finish the burrito. Got some clam chowder here when I was charging my car. Turned out with severe food poisoning. Was vomiting and having diarrhea all night.

Had an overall good experience, many varieties of good cheeses, many choices of things I've never seen in other grocery store's. The meat department was very busy, but they were fast, and friendly. The bakery had some scrumptious cakes, pastries, and breads. The Produce department was clean and fresh looking, can't say the same for other places. The deli seemed to be busy, but after getting dirty looks from a blonde haired man there, I decided to put only 3 stars. Blonde hair, blonde beard, rude as hell. Normally store's have people with good customer service skills, so having someone so rude in a position that's half customer service is disturbing. Made me not want anything to with the Deli in Valley Fresh. Maybe management isn't away that some of their employees are turning customer's away mean mugging them. If this changes, I will gladly edit my review to 5 STARS!! read more

Why don't all the employees working in the Deli Dept wear hair coverings as specified in CA Health & Safety Code 113969!!! Every time I go to the Deli 1 or 2 employees are working with unpackaged food....making sandwiches, cutting meat or filling serve your self containers. Why????
