Back in Newmarket! Saw the other reviews so off I went. I got the drunken noodles and steamed dumplings to go. I asked for a little extra heat on my noodles and they made it perfectly. Very generous portion for the price. We found the pad Thai a bit too sweet, other than that we liked it. The drunken noodle needed a bit more flavor- we didn't see any basil which is a bummer. Shhhhh......they don't know what they have in town. From Hawaii to Manhattan I haven't eaten better Thai!!! One menu item in particular to judge a Thai place is the Larb Nua. If they have it try. curry puff is so good. yum salad is great for those who love a little spice and bean thread noodle with veggies. food is flavorful and service from the heart. even though there is no lunch menu, the portions are enough for leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! Basil Leaf is solidly in our rotation of local restaurants and has always been consistent with excellent service and delicious food. We loved loved loved this experience. The food is incredible, service excellent, ambiance casual but clean, and it isn't expensive. We ordered a range of dishes, from Golden Triangle, Fresh Spring Roll, Curry Puffs to Tom Kha Gai, and different entrees that were perfectly seasoned and tasty and everything was served piping hot. The owner was our server, and he was attentive and friendly, and everything was perfectly timed. Dinner selections included Chicken Laarb, Panang Curry Crispy Duck, and Green Curry. The Laarb was served with a fantastic basket of sweet sticky rice. Wish we had some sriracha for it. But everything was so good, we are looking forward to our next visit. We can't wait. The wide noodle dish (forgot the name) was also very good. Good portion sizes and quick service. I will be going back next time I am in the area! My other reviews are semi-satire (I try to spruce it up but I don't lie about how the food is). But this restaurant genuinely blew me away. It is a homey little spot in downtown Newmarket. Let's start with the service. It deserves 5-stars alone. Our waitress and host were both extremely attentive, and it felt like they were our own personal wait staff. It was honestly so great and they make you feel like you're at home. The food was phenomenal. We got the Chicken Wings, Dumplings, Chicken Pad Thai and Combo Meat and Veggie Plate (I forgot the name). They were all delicious in their own right and it was undoubtedly one of the best Asian Restaurants I have ever been to. Didn't give 5 stars because as another reviewer noted, it was somewhat small, not many tables could tell the solo diner next to us was listening to our conversation and also it was a little on the warm side inside. One of the best Thai fast food (take-out) places in the Seacoast! Dishes are cooked in an open kitchen so you watch the entire process from a few feet away. Takeout was ready 7 minutes after ordering. The chef does great prep work and is very efficient. Prices were under $10/each. Dishes can be ordered 1 to 5 stars. 4 stars was VERY spicy!! Great Pad Thai (not too sugary...it's just right). One of the best Masamans I've had in years. The food is on the rich side. Sorry to say but pretty mediocre, overly salty dishes that are an Americanized version of thai. Prices are reasonable but with several authentic thai restaurants down the street in exeter, we will be passing this up after two tries as the food is just okay. Definately would not order the duck as it was super fatty and swimming in sauce, and the Pho was way overly salty. Rice was okay, maybe a tad bland. My friend had Pad Thai which was decent however very little chicken, mostly noodles but flavor was okay. All in all limited choices, not a place we would go out of our way to visit but if the other places were closed maybe. Not horrible, but could be better. Recall it being much better when it first opened and we tried it. New management according to other reviewers has not been for the better perhaps?! read more

So I was saddened when my Dentist's office across the street closed... but a few week's later I saw a coming soon sign for a Thai place. Excellent! I went in over the weekend and they were slammed. I ordered the Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. It was an hour wait, which I gave them the benefit of the doubt due to it being their opening weekend... that is a good problem to have. I left my phone number and asked to be called and in an hour's time I received a call and went back. I went back in on Monday and placed another to go order for some Pho... since they were still very busy I opted for a to go as I would have loved to sit and enjoy my dinner there. I left my phone number again and asked to be called. They were not as busy as the weekend so I thought it would be smooth again. Sadly I never received a call... I did head over after 45 minutes and my food was waiting for me, but it would have been nice if I was called as I do not know how long it was waiting ... I know they are getting their feet and are a great addition but they need to get them fast as the restaurant record for closing / flipping / surviving in Newmarket is a rocky cliff and very unforgiving. "The Good" - The cashier and order taker was very polite and on her game. She was calm under pressure of opening weekend. The servers and staff in the back were busy, smiling but busy. - The Pad Thai was tasty, I did order the chicken Pad Thai and the chicken although good was lacking in number based on the amount of noodles. Yes I know it is a noodle dish and yes it still did not have a lot of chicken. - The Chicken Satay was very good. - The Crab Ragoon are good and on the big side. "The Meh" - The sitting area is tight quartered and if you are claustrophobic you may want to steer clear. If you do not mind hearing the older lady sitting at the table right next to you speak louder than normal - The Pho was OK, and not their specialty, this is a Thai place that has Pho not a Pho restaurant that also serves some Thai dishes. The broth has very little meat (again) in it and the portion needs to be upped in order to get return customers. The plum sauce and / or fish sauce was already mixed in. There were no sauces thrown in the to go portion but I did have some at home. "The Bad" - Nothing bad, they are a great addition and I hope they get their feet and up the meat portions. read more
