I've enjoyed and have also been a wine club member at many of the wineries in the Temecula Valley over the years. We went to Oak Mountain for the tour and check it out. The tour was interesting and the place was novel and we did sample a few surprisingly good reds. Once the tour was over, we decided to join the wine club and since we like tasting at least once a week, we'd add this place to our list. Bad decision. Poor service, midweek tastings end at somewhere between 4 and 5 PM (we can't quite figure it out since we've gone at 4:30 PM and had no problem, at 4:00 and was told they'd serve us one tasting but they were already closed - posted business hours until 5:00. And have gone at almost 5:00 and no problem) The wines are okay, nothing spectacular and while we were encouraged from our initial visit, we are finding they all have a similar mediocrity to them. The disappointing part is the fair to poor service we've received throughout. With all the competition from other wineries that offer superior wines and far better service, I'm just waiting for the wine club membership period to expire and spend more time where my patronage might be better appreciated. I've been told the food is quite good and trust the sources whom had given their recommendations but I'll never find out as I'm over this place. Wine cave shmave. Adios!! read more

Bought a Groupon for a cave wine tour that my husband and I took this past Saturday for our anniversary. What a blast! Our guide Judy was an absolute gem. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable about the history of Oak Mountain Winery and the wine making process, but she makes the whole experience fun start to finish. The tour gives you a brief walk of the grounds, finished by a sit down with a small cheese & meat platter to pair with your wine tastings. It was just the right amount of everything, and at the Groupon price it was such a bargain! Highly recommend taking the cave tour at Oak Mountain, especially the morning tour before it gets crowded with tour buses, and requesting Judy as your guide. You won't be disappointed! read more

I made reservations days in advance for 7/25 in the cave and when we arrived it was clear they had a private event going on. It was never mentioned in the booking process or when we arrived that this would be an issue. Once we arrived it was clear the winery was overwhelmed by the private party. We saw our sever once in the hour we were there. Not to mention I went up to the bar to close out and expressed my frustration and no one even apologized or tried to make it better. I'm not blaming anyone but if you are understaffed (like everyone else is) don't take reservations as our time here was absolutely effected by the fact that there was a private party. read more

We were on the lookout for another winery to become members at and Oak Mountain seemed the perfect choice! I was really excited to try this place because I read the reviews and the venue looked beautiful. My husband and I went to the tasting room and ordered two tastings from the friendly worker behind the counter. We came on a Sunday so we expected it to be busy and noticed it was a full bar. There were two servers and both seemed very busy, multi tasking between tastings, people purchasing wines, and people purchasing new tastings. All this happened during our first pour, so it was pretty hectic. Our experience started to go sour when an obnoxious guy, who was part of a group of ten people cut this lady behind me who was waiting for a spot at the bar, started barking at the servers asking how they will get served and when they will get served. I thought to myself, "Privileged people at their finest". Both servers looking visibly stressed kindly informed them that they could head to the other tasting room, but they refused. Our tasting was constantly interrupted by the "leader" of the group of 10, squeezing in finding a spot for himself, asking constant questions, demanding all 10 glasses be filled at once since he found one spot on the bar. That spot happened to luckily be by us. He asked us to scoot over since he needed room for his four people, so we were over the tasting by this point and moved over so they could enjoy their wine loudly. I had four tokens left and my husband 3. The second server came up to us and we told him that we would just to top off our drinks with the rest of the tokens. He ended up giving us one pour total each on 7 tokens total, he knew it was 7 tokens because he grabbed them all! I had 3 ounces total for my 6 tokens which seemed unfair for what I paid for. At this point we were extremely annoyed at the ambiance, the disorganization and at our treatment so we just left to go to the restaurant since we heard nice things about it. We needed to leave the chaos of the tasting room so we took our one ounce pour, headed to "the cave". The cave was nice, busy, but less crowded. We were quickly seated and our waitress took our order. We ordered the chimichurri fries, the hand cut pasta, and the burger protein style with a side of cauliflower soup and ordered the cheesecake ahead of time. I asked for water refills about three times, since my water was empty for long periods of time, but she seemed busy so I took that in to consideration. We started off with the fries which I thought were flavorful crispy, seasoned well with nice chunks of steak. Our main dishes were a bit disappointing. My pasta was pretty bland, the chicken pieces were too large and a bit dry. My husbands burger suffered from lack of seasonings. His soup on the other hand was overly seasoned and too salty, as if you poured salt on your tongue. What I ended up doing was pouring some of the soup on my chicken since it was saucy, and it gave my pasta the flavor and seasoning it needed. We ended with the dessert. The dessert is what saved this review from being a one star because the cheesecake in itself is a five star cheesecake! It was perfectly textured, the flavor was tasty and not overly sweet at all, with just the right amount of strawberries and the cookie crumbles were delicious. Overall we had such a bad experience in the tasting room, not only by our fellow customers, but from the staff. We understand it was very busy, but we were polite and patient and still felt mistreated. The food dishes I'm sure are fantastic, but some of our choices proved otherwise. I wanted to love this place, but I can't subject myself to experience a day like that again seeing as there are a ton of great wineries near by and we are members at many who treat us very well. read more

Our visit was very disappointing. We sat on the outside patio area in front of the tasting room where food is served. We sat for 30 minutes before having someone actually come over and wait on us. We had to flag down the server to ask for a wine list and water. When he finally came back we asked for a bottle of wine that was one the menu and he said they didn't have that one. We (my friend and I) asked for a taste of the only white wine they had. He came back about 10 minutes later with only one glass with just a sip in it for one person. Then, he left again and didn't even ask us what we wanted. We flagged him down again and told him we'd like a bottle, and he came back with that another 10 minutes later. My other friend at the table ordered a bowl of ice cream and that took about 25 minutes after we asked about it. After awhile, we ordered two servings of french fries and that took about 35 minutes. I went inside to ask when we would get the orders and the server said, in a bit, the kitchen is backed up. I said "ok, but it has been a long time". Finally, our fries came out and they were cold! I took my serving inside and said, "please take these off of my bill, they are cold". He then grabbed the bowl from me and walked off with an attitude. No apologies, no updates during our time there. I had a lovely day planned in my head as I have been there before and really like the winery. However, this server was awful! I will probably not go back. read more

Wow! There isn't enough time or space to write how wonderful my wedding was at Oak Mountain Winery. Rony, the on site coordinator, is truly amazing! She was such a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. From giving recommendations on vendors, to her organization skills, to smoothing over anything that went wrong so that my wife and I didn't even notice...we are so appreciative! The wine for the wedding was a great selection. All of our guests had something they loved. The food selections were delicious! All of our guests were generously fed and said they loved the dishes. The cave was incredible for the party. We were able to keep the party going past the noise ordinance! It was a major plus! Also, as a lesbian couple, it was important to us that we got married somewhere that was LGTBQ friendly. They made us feel so welcome! You wouldn't believe me if I said she had only been working there for two weeks!! She was amazing and I would recommend her. We're not wine experts by any means, but the 5 stars are for The Cave, the wine tour, and our guide, Judy. We've only heard about The Cave, and decided to come here with relatives from out-of-town to try the wine-tasting tour. Our guide was Judy, who provided the best tour experience that was very informative, educational, and humorous. As long as Judy is around, we'd definitely come back again, as well as recommend the tour to friends who've never done a wine-tasting tour. Parking wasn't a problem (we arrived at 11am Sunday), but it was packed when we left at 2pm. So arrive early and beat the rush. The winery is tucked away in an area not too far off the main road of wineries, and is up on a hill that had a nice view of the surrounding area, and had a constant cool breeze flowing through (it's March 20). First, the winery is beautiful and well worth a stop at. We had a great time at the restaurant and then quickly decided to become members and taste in the wine cave. Everything surrounding our experience in the winery was amazing. I think I spent close to $300 dollars on food and wine. After becoming wine club members, my experience has not been so great. I initially called the wine club members number and left a voicemail regarding my shipment. One of the bottles had been overheated in delivery and the cork was sticking out of the bottle. I left three voicemails. No one returned my call. Then I emailed Shalyn Williams and Travis (both listed as contacts on the wine members section of the website) on two separate emails about this and no one responded to me. I would advise heavily on not becoming a wine club member. This is horrible customer service. read more

Our tour guide, Kathie, was so knowledgeable and educational!! We loved her personality and her presentation! We learned so much about the whole wine making process! This is the only place in Southern CA that has a cave to age their wines!! Their wine club is free to join and you get to choose which wines you want. First off, the property is beautiful, breathtaking views of all the mountains and wineries in the area. My friend and I arrived early, so we each had a glass on their cute little patio area. Our tour guide Sharon was fantastic. She was so knowledgeable and a pleasure to take the tour with. We sampled about 6 wines, and it was also great that halfway through she allowed you to decide if you wanted to sample more reds or whites. Apparently this place is the only vineyard that has a cave, so that was really neat to tour that. We had purchased a Groupon (actually everyone on the tour did!) so we received a cute little cheese/meat plate at the end of our tour as well. I brought my parents here for their first winery experience last Sunday. The winery was very easy to find and there was plenty of parking. I had a Groupon deal, and they were very organized in how they separated and gathered people together for the tour. Kathy was our guide and expert viticulturist and we learned a lot from her throughout the experience, about drinking wine, winemaking, and about the property overall. The selection of wines for tasting was pretty good (considering I don't have a taste for red wines in general), the best being the Pinotage, which I purchased a bottle of for my father before we left. THE BEST VENUE EVER! We had such an amazing experience that I don't even know where to begin with this review... Oak Mountain's wedding and event manager is Rony and we could not have even DREAMED of a better person to help us through this crazy process. We toured countless venues in Temecula and ultimately chose Oak Mountain because of this woman. Obviously, the views are unbeatable, and everyone loved the wine as well. We had major problems with our marriage license after the wedding (our officiant spilled on it and crossed something out, then smudged it again when he was sent the new license to fix the error) and Rony helped with the entire process of getting this worked out. She also picked up our desserts on the day of the wedding, coordinated all our vendors in advance, and just went above and beyond what a typical wedding and event planner for a venue would do. We didn't hire a wedding planner, and this was a destination wedding for us, and Rony stepped up to the plate to help with absolutely everything from day 1 - not just the week of the wedding. She was always available and would get back to us immediately when we had questions - even if these questions were completely unrelated to the venue. I could go on forever, but I'll wrap it up. Choose Oak Mountain as your venue if you want the BEST service and most beautiful views. read more
