There's super friendly staff working here. There's even a few workers that have been around for the past 20 years. We love to see it. There's a welcoming, local community vibe to this gas station. People stopping by to get gas (or to get their car fixed) know the workers, and vice versa. I recently came here because my driver's side headlight was out and they were able to swap out the bulb and fix the light within 30 minutes. Incredible. During my visit, they noticed I could use some more antifreeze and filled me up without hesitation. How amazing!! I come here for gas all the time and I also to do my annual state inspection here. I've only ever come here for annual car inspections. Been coming here for over 15 years and I don't think anything changed. The same inspector is still nice. And the garage is probably the same condition since I started coming here. There's usually a line of cars ahead of me when I go. Some cars take a while and you'd just have to wait. Otherwise come when they open at 8am. $35 cash only. You get out of your car in front of the station and the inspector drives it into the garage where he checks the tires and lights. In my experience, they do check windshield wipers and they do make you buy a new one if they see streaks on the windshield after wipes. They do lift the car at the sides to check tires. I had the best experience here and I must share! I used to get my car fixed at a massive corporate conglomerate (cough Firestone) and after being told my breaks needed to be flushed several times I had enough of their sh* t. I asked the community on Nextdoor for recommendations and their was an overwhelming response for Sunoco Gas Station. Since it's literally across the street from my house I figured, why not let's see what they are all about. My first reason for praise is that they didn't lie about random repairs. +1 points for not telling me I need a random air filter (cough Firestone). Then, they had my car fixed within hours. They're also open until 9pm so no mad dash to get over there during work hours. Finally, all of the employees are SO kind and personable. They may not know my name but they know I'm "hyuandai" and I liked that. Two additional honorable mentions: 1) I once turned my windshield wipers on knowing damn well they were frozen and stuck to the glass. The gas attendant taped them for me and it was very kind and I've never forgotten. 2) they patched my tire in under 10 minutes and it cost $20. This was a a year ago. Mass conglomerate (cough Firestone) wanted me to spend $120 on a new tire. Their brand, of course. Also, I forgot I already reviewed them before and I am laughing at my amount of beef with Firestone. This place has terrible customer service. I needed to get a safety inspection done for my car as I just switched my insurance from CT to MA. When I told this to the guy in the repair shop he told me to pull up to the garage, which I did. There was a car in there. So he then tells me to turn around and park in front of the garage, which I did, however awkward this was to do in the little space I had. The other car is now ready to pull out. He then tells me to pull ALL THE WAY around the gas station so the car that's in there can get out. At this point I'm not sure what kind of genius operation they were running as I could have deduced that if a car was in the garage I probably shouldn't park in front. Anyway after that introduction, it's finally my turn. After 20 minutes of waiting and 3 opportunities to make the following statement, this half-blind toothless repair guy says flat out "we can't inspect your car." That's all. A little more prompting from me and I finally get the "why" out of him. He tells me that he can't inspect my car with CT plates on it. Fair enough, but I had already explained that I couldn't get my plates off because of a rusted stripped screw so would the shop mind helping me put them on or at least acknowledging that I have them there? Blind guy's response "NO! WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO CHANGE THE LAW?!" What? After about 10 minutes of me explaining and re-explaining why I can't put the MA plates on this guy still has the audacity to antagonize me as the consumer and tell me that I shouldn't be trying to change the law. I'm baffled by his logic. In any event, they get 1 star for poor customer service as there was simply no reason for this guy to antagonize me for "changing the law" when all he needed to say was "I can't do your inspection because of X, Y and Z but here's what I can do for you..." OR "I can't do your inspection because of X, Y and Z but I can tell you who can." That's all. That's customer service. This place is run by a bunch of clowns. read more

I have always had the best experiences at this repair shop! I got my rim changed here because my old rim had white road paint on it. The guys tried everything they could to get the paint off the rim so that I wouldn't have to buy a new one. The paint was stubborn so I had to install the new rim but they were insanely helpful! I just got my oil changed here as well and they got it done in 1 hour. Amazing and friendly guys! read more

This place has horrible customer service and the young Kid working the full service area is a crook. He stood there filling my tank, talking on the phone and handed me a receipt. When I turned the car on, my needle didn't move. He screamed at me, made me drive around the block and when I returned to prove he put no gas in, he tried to claim I was trying to get free gas. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and had him put more gas in, if the needle didn't move, I'd know it was my car. He filled the tank and there was no problem with my car but with their system. He refused to look further into the issue and the connection of the hose to my car. He just chatted on his cellphone, interrupting my sentences and didn't care that he was completely ripping me off. When I asked to speak to a manager, He also claimed to own the place. He's a crook and they don't deserve business. I've been there 100 times for gas and never has the needle in my car not moved. He then proceeded to pull out a calculator and try to tell me because I'm a woman I couldn't do basic math. There's plenty of gas stations around, skip this place if you don't want to get ripped off on a Sunday morning. read more

I am not sure what other people are seeing in this place. Maybe they are girls so they got treated better. The reason I said that was there aren't a standard price for anything beside the gas, and this didn't come from me. It is from the kid who works at the counter. I just got a oil changes from that place, it costs me $34, just the oil and the filter. And let me tell you this, it was $26 3 month ago, and $24 6 month ago. When I mentioned in passive the price is keep increasing. The kid told me this :It is all depends on the mood of the manager, there isn't a fixed price, he just write down whatever he feels like it. And I forgot to mentioned, they quoted me for a bal joint replacement that cost "somewhere between 200, 300 or maybe $500" That is the exact quote from the dude who works there. I got it done somewhere else, it costed me $214. Well, I will tell you this Manager of Sunoco, you just lost a customer. I am taking my business somewhere else, and warning everyone I know about this place. by the way, I am spending $50 on gas every week, and you are not getting a single penny from that as well even you are on my way home. read more

So I took my girlfriend's car to this place for a standard oil change. I get there and there's one car in front of me getting an oil change. I ask how long it takes them to do an oil change, and the guy tells me 15 min. Fine. So 30 minutes later i notice that the car sitting in the garage for the oil change has been off the lift for 15 min and is just sitting there with the hood up. I ask the guy who was actually doing the work what was going on, as i didn't see why that car was still sitting in there if it didn't need to be on the lift. The guy then tells me he'll take the car out and i can pull mine in. Great... but why did i need to ask for this? Who knows how long i would have been sitting there if i hadn't asked. Anyway, i finally get her Jeep in the door and the oil change takes another 30 minutes, so now i've been there over an hour. I prepay the $35 b/c i was sitting there with nothing better to do anyway. Finally the car is done. As i get in the car and start to pull out of the garage, the first guy (who seemed to be either the owner or manager) walks behind my car and up to my window, and says "I need 5 more dollars." "Are you serious?" "Yes, I'm serious. Your car has big engine, needed an extra quart of oil." "You're serious? I don't even have cash, you're going to charge my card another $5?" So this jackass takes my card and charges me another $5. This is why I get my car serviced at the same place everytime by people i trust, so I don't have to put up with this nonsense. I only went to this gas station b/c it's right near my barber shop. I will NEVER go here again, and this is my warning to anyone else considering this place. This place is one of the best places I have been to service my car. My car died right in front of the garage door. They had to push it in. then an hour later he called me and explained very carefully what was wrong and what he would do. I have a Volkswagon beetle that I take care of, but it just breaks down, because it is a Volkswagon beetle. It needed a timing belt and a water pump. He did for a great cost and he threw in an oil change and an engine flush. And he finished it in one day. The car has not run this great in a while. I highly recommend going to this repair shop. The staff was antagonistic, rude and incompetant - I'm talking about you, Raul - and didn't seem to realize there are other service stations around that I would happily bring my business to. I left after a misunderstanding led to a berating from customer service expert Raul, who probably didnt realize his name was on his shirt and that when you treat someone like garbage, they are highly likely to share their experience with others. You've heard of HYFR? This place is the embodiment of HYFN. I was charged approximately $50 for an oil change. Why? Because 1) I was given synthetic oil without being asked, and 2) because I'm a white girl. Yup, I said it. I think they racially profiled me and assumed that I could and would pay for it...which I did, but not without telling them off. When I received the bill (from an employee who happened to be of Middle Eastern descent) I said "What the hell is this? I didn't ask for synthetic". He replied "No? Well, I apologize, he should have told you", and proceeded to expound upon the virtues of synthetic oil. Unapologetically I interrupted him, saying "right, whatever. I didn't ask for this. I have to leave because I'm in a hurry, but I didn't like this, and I am not happy. I don't want to argue with you about the price, but this was not fair and I will not return". He apologized again; I'm pretty sure he tried to convince me to give him my email so that he could email me a coupon, and I'm 100% sure that he attempted to tell me about how f***ing great synthetic is...bro...I do not give a flip! I will learn better time management, go to the Toyota dealer, use either a coupon or my feminine wiles to get a $19.95 oil change and write a poor review of this place. I smite thee, oh sh***y-a** Sunoco of Newtonville. There is no need to have your car serviced here; there are plenty of other fair and straight-forward mechanics in the area. read more

i have been taking my car(s) here for the last 5 years. mike is a great mechanic who always takes time to explain to me exactly what he is going to do, and i have never had to wait longer than a day to get my car back. they even did some light body work for my old subaru front end - nothing fancy but it looked a hell of a lot better and they didnt charge me a dime for that. one of the younger guys who works here has also helped me with some easy stuff (changing a tire, fixing and changing out my wiper blades) at no charge and with a huge smile. i go here for all my service and inspection needs. they are quick, friendly and very reliable. i will never take my car anywhere else while i am living in the boston area. I give these guys 5 stars just based on their ability to give me an inspection sticker in less than 8 minutes. Now, I know this might not technically be a good thing, but I've always found the whole inspection process once a year to be a huge hassle. I've been here three times and twice it was done in under 5-10 minutes and the most recent time I ran next door to Dunks, grabbed a coffee, and as soon as I got back my car was outside waiting for me. Also, they do inspections on Saturdays from 8-4:30PM. Cool! read more

This is place is simply amazing. Took my Honda to the dealership to get an emissions test done. Turns out the muffler's jacked up somehow... ie $29 emissions test is now only completable if I pay $1000. So upon a friends suggestion I took it over to these guys. $260 covered muffler, labor & emissions test. Plus all of 2 hours passed between calling over to see if they could take me, and me driving away. P.S. they're "waiting room" is the swankest Dunkin's I've ever been to, right next door. I'm talking a Dunkin Donuts with leather arm chairs and a large screen tv. read more

Worst customer service and business practices I've encountered in my life. Went to go get my car filled here. Give the attendant my card and cleary tell him to fill it with $10 of regular. He nods and a few minutes later gives back my card and says "OK" as if its alright to leave. As I start to drive off, the pump is STILL in my car and gas spills everywhere. Regardless, I brush off the incident and the attendant proceeds to finish pumping. After driving down the road less than a mile I realize that he had completely filled my tank which amounted to $35 over what I was expecting, effectively overdrawing my checking account. I come back and explain what had happened and the attendant "claimed" he had asked me twice to confirm that I said to fill up the tank, while the manager crudely explained to me that since my card was already charged there was nothing they could really do about it. This would have been aggregious enough, but as to add insult to injury to a young black man, the manager proposed that I work the pumps for a few hours to pay off the excess amount and the damage done to the pump. There was no damage to the pump. Overall -3/10 would never recommend doing business with these RACIST churlish swine. read more

I do know that if people are rude to him, he will be rude in kind..but if u are friendly and coureous, he is more than willing to assist you in the most efficient and friendly manner !! There is a mechanic named William who is very good and can tell you a great deal about your car and do the diagnostics and repair. WARNING: There is a person names Mike, who gets my vote for the WORST person to ever interact with the public. He is an older man who is rude, angry, belligerant, hateful and just plain horrible. The owner who can usually be found in the office does not interact with the public so much and if you have a complaint..he ofter avoids dealing with the person and runs away somewhere. He usually asks the horrible old man to do his dirty work! So if you are going for inspection. Talk to Raul.this place is great and if you need a repair..talk directly to William.
