5 stars for Car Repairs and State Inspection. I initially went here for State Inspection, but did not pass due to front end shaking. They told me they can do it, but to be safe, I went to a different (my usual) Car Repair shop to get a quote for second opinion diagnosis and repair. Me and my 8 year old little brother got HARASSED. I drove through their gas station (just to get through traffic because my little brother was late to school) And from what i'm guessing is the owner, HIT MY CAR. He punched my car and then started yelling at me. when i asked him why he hit my car, his response was "I can do whatever i want to your car, i can destroy it if i wanted to. This is my property!" All of this because because i drove through their EMPTY gas station. These people treated me awful and my little brother was scared the entire way to school. what an awful way to start a little kids morning. Side note: took a picture of my license plate and said "you'll see what i'll do with this" I would never go to these very rude and quite honestly, nasty people. read more

I get gas here for years. I knew they were great guys but this was outstanding service. My fuel pump in my van was acting up. I called pearl st and they took me right in . they did the job in one day and its a tough one having to drop the gas tank. They drove me home picked me up did fast great service at a really good price.if your in the area call these guys . you wont regrett it. read more

I cannot say enough good things about DJ and the crew at Pearl Street Auto. This is the kind of business you absolutely want to support! Their work is top notch, and they are honest. I started seeing them about a year ago (Nothing serious, I'm married). My CRV has over 240,000 miles on it. I debated trading it in, but I'm confident in DJ and I'm happy I've have stuck with him. I think he's saved me a great deal of money. Also, the gas prices are the most competitive around so it's worth going to them just for that alone. If I can give it a no star I would . I have always gone to this gas station for years , but not anymore . My mom got stuck there after her card wasn't working she explain to charge it as a debit and she will put in her pin . The gentleman that was helping , which by the way was Spanish native , didn't help her and ignore her request. I drove all the way to the gas station in the morning and had him do the transaction as my mother requested. The whole time he was given me attitude and telling me that the card doesn't work . After arguing , he finally pass the card and notice that it was working . I told him , see the card works and if you were to listen to what my mom was trying to explain to you in Spanish you would of know , but you were being a hotshot making yourself look that you were better than my mom only cuz your English is a little better than hers. You disappoint me , have a great day. For me that's a disgrace for another person to be doing that to anybody especially to your own people. Never will I go again , if this is the service you are providing . The problem could of been resolved at that moment if your employee were to listen, and just to be clear she explain to him in English and in Spanish and still he didn't listen . I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!! TJ who is the owner is the greatest, he is basically family at this point. my cousin recommended this place and I know why. TJ is so friend and puts you at ease. he explains everything that he is going to do. He is honest, which is rare is the field and will do everything they can to fix your car. they are fast in their turnaround and TJ will drop you off wherever you need and will come pick you up when your car is done. and of course the prices are great compared to other places. Once you got her TJ will always remember you. He always ask about my job, my family he is super sweet. He make sure that you have your breakfast if you come to him early in the morning, always giving me a granola bar and a bottled water and/or juice. you will not regret taking your car here. I cannot say enough good things about these guys! First, they always come in under what other shops charge or what I see as average for the area online. I've had a variety of work done by them, and they never try to pull a fast one or fix something that isn't really broken. I've even brought my car in and asked them to give it a once-over for any maintenance work that might need to be done, and like most mechanics, I was expecting them to "find" SOMETHING, but nope...they said everything was good and they didn't try to take advantage of me. Second, they go above and beyond constantly. Once, with my dead car parked at my house two blocks away, I gave them my keys, and they walked to my house while I was at work and PUSHED my car to the shop. Not only did they not charge extra for doing that, they charged LESS than any other place would have for the repair itself. More recently, I locked my keys in my car, and the repair guy walked with me back to my car to unlock it and they didn't charge me a dime. And it's not uncommon for TJ (the owner) to say "Oh, we noticed X, Y or Z was a little off, so we took care of that--no charge." These guys understand the concept of good customer service and what it takes to retain a customer base. I will never go anywhere else, and I cannot recommend them enough. If you need ANYTHING done to your car, go there. Ask for TJ. You will not be disappointed, I promise. read more

So I used to love this place until I almost lost my life on the highway yesterday. Thankfully I was a couple smiles away from the exit I needed to get off. So here goes the story: I'm 02/28/17 I caught a flat on my tire, the tire was still on the rim to preserve the rim from being damage and also I was lucky that when I caught a flat tire I was only 30 seconds from Pearl street auto. I felt lucky because I always go to them for gas and that was my #1 gas station to go to honestly. I went there and told them if they have an extra tire that I can buy off them for my car. The manager said he would look and surprisingly he did have a tire for me. They put on the tire and I was on the go to me next destination. I paid $75 for this tire, T.J said it was new but used a bit. The next morning I had class and as I'm about to get into my car I checked my wheels and for some reason I felt like my front left tire(the tire that caught the flat) was a different size from my other tires, but I just let it slide maybe I was just thinking too much. I got to school just find even though I did here a weird noise with the car but I let it go. Classes ended and I go to Umass Boston mind you. I get on the highway to get back to Somerville and before I hit the Zaykem bridge there's a tunnel (I forgot the name). Before I hit that tunnel as I'm driving at normal speed (around 3 so that's neat to traffic hour) all of a sudden I hear a *flap flap flap* but I keep driving. A minute later my steering wheel starts trembling. I don't know what's wrong with my car at this point but my mindset is not to pull over on the highway. Instead to get off the at the closest Somerville exit. So I keep driving, then all of sudden my car steer to the left very fast almost out of control, NOW I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG. My left front tire that pearl street auto gave me blew out, it ripped about. THANKFULLY I was about 2 miles away from the Somerville exit. I kept driving toward the exit holding to dear life my steering wheel holding it straight instead of going to the left. Honestly driving that car for two miles was a mission. So much was happening. I pull over and I see my left front tire (the one pearl street gave me) and it was all ripped apart . I was so mad cause T.J had told me it was close to new and I felt as if he lied because I'm a young woman and thought he could play me. He gave me a cheap tire and due to that tire I could have lost my life on the highway or even worse ruin someone else's. I called triple A to send my car and I to pearl street because they're damn well going to give me a new tire that is ordered from another company. Also due to my tire ripping apart I cracked my rim, which is even MORE MONEY!!!!! They just made my car worse . IM NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN EVEN FOR GAS, they obviously don't care about the safety of their costumers. My car broke down on Route 3 during rush hour. I didn't know what to do other than calling AAA. Then I called Gloucester Taxi for suggestion. Their cars are repaired at this shop. The toll truck tolled me all the way from Lowell back to Gloucester to Pearl Street Auto. The guys changed the battery, reprogrammed the system, and even tested it on the highway before handed it to me. Love this place!! read more

Turns out they've been putting the wrong weight oil in my wife's car. It gunked up a couple of solenoid valves which meant it couldn't pass inspection. That was a multi-hundred dollar repair. Not going back. read more

I've been getting my gas at this service station for the last few months while staying at Cambridge, love the fact that its full service and they put in my gas even in a blizzard. Just last week they filled up my gas and after driving couple of hundred miles my engine light went on and when I looked in to the reason for it I saw that my gas cap was not closed. It was not even cold outside for the friendly attendant to have done this. I took my car to the dealer and they wanted to charge me close to $200 in order to see why! Of course I did not spent such a money since my car is only few months old and drove another 1000 miles and it adjusted itself. read more

Have always got gas at this station, as it's usually the cheapest in the area and the attendants are always friendly. 2 weeks ago my car broke down in Salem and I had to drop it off at the BP on Jackson St. Turns out the owners are cousins. The cashier from Salem unknowingly charged me more than I was quoted. The owner at the Salem shop called me to tell me they over charged me and I could pick up the difference at the Somerville shop. I've never enjoyed having a mechanic owe me money! read more

these guys are awesome. we've taken our subaru here for everything. we will drive out of our way on empty to get to pearl street for gas. the guys are always super helpful, and they will always make time if you need an oil change or inspection sticker quick. they've replaced my headlights a couple of times at no extra charge (i had the bulbs, just didn't have the proper tool to get to the light). they're just overall good dudes and run a really great shop. that said, i prob won't be buying tires from them any time soon with the stories on here lol read more

Highly recommended for auto repair work, just ask for TJ who's the owner. My Toyota needed a new clutch and I got 3 other quotes for $1,000+ and TJ charged me $600 and did the work in half the time the other shops wanted. They also have ridiculously low gas prices. And it's full-serve. read more

I filled out my gas and the attendant told me it was $10. I gave him a $20 bill but he never gave me $10 back. I waited a couple of minutes and he claimed I only gave him $10. I took $40 out of the ATM machine and I only had $20 left in my wallet. He showed me the $20 bills he got from other customers and he said I never gave him. I don't know what he did but he tried to cheat me out of $10. I don't mind giving him a $1 tip but not $10 for $10 gas! I was ready to call the police but reluctantly he gave me $10 back. It was a wrinkly $10 bill that he claimed I gave him which was never mine. He told me never to come back but I wouldn't go back since he tried to cheat me out of $10.00. The Police or IRS should check them out of their practice of cheating customers. It was a very bad experience and learned to pay for gas with credit cards from now on.
