I came in feeling really vulnerable and honestly a bit scared of the dentist, but from day one I was treated with nothing but respect and given the privacy I'd always wanted in a dental office. All of the dental hygienists are patient and kind, and they truly listen to your concerns (shout out to Jay!). Dr. Shu himself is amazing. He walks you through multiple options and never pressures you into procedures you don't actually need, which I've unfortunately experienced at other dental offices. After many years of being patients at another beloved local, dental practice, we were thrusted into making a difficult decision of staying with a new in-network dental practice or stay with our existing, out-of-network dentist. I originally chose another local dental practice and went there as a new patient, but I just did appreciate how that practice was run. I decided to continue my search. That's when I Yelped and discovered Oak Valley Dental. I called and spoke with Yveth, who I could ascertain was representing how Dr. Romero-Shu runs his practice which shows through all his staff as well: friendly, personable, efficient, knowledgeable. My wife and two sons went before my scheduled appointment. My wife was equally impressed with Yveth and everyone she encountered during her visit. She really liked her hygienist ,Jay and his methodology when he cleaned her teeth. One of my sons also had Jay and like him as well. They all met briefly with Dr. Romero-Shu, who they all like and thought of as very friendly and efficient. During my visit, my hygienist was Caroline, who was also our other son's hygienist. I appreciated her explanation of every step of her initial teeth exam and cleaning as a new patient. I was especially appreciative of her explaining to me, (which has never, by any other dentist or hygienist), that due to certain med(s) I take daily, she was looking for signs of possible adverse side effects that may affect my gums. She also noted in my patient file for all of my future visits, the teeth that are a sensitive to probing. Again, she introduced me to something new: a temporary numbing paste she applied to the affected areas to decrease that "zing" I always got when the metal probe/pick hit those sweet spots on certain teeth. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Yvette is rude, dismissive, and shouldn't have a job. She cut me off multiple times and spoke to me like I didn't matter. when ai called back to ask to speak with a manager, I another young lady hung up on me. Huge shout out to Dr. Romero-Shu at Oak Valley Dental. I had a crown come off recently. I contacted the staff at OVD and they got me right in. After inspecting my crown, Dr. Shu said, "I think we can re-cement it." OVD cleaned it up, tested the fit, and reinstalled it with zero issues. I'm sure most dental offices would have sold me a new crown. As a dental patient, I appreciate the honesty and efficiency that Oak Valley Dental has consistently provided me and my family. Choosing a new dentist is always scary, but once I called Oak Valley Dental and spoke with Yveth, she instantly put me at ease. She was able to get my husband and I in right away, which was great. Once I arrived for my appointment, she welcomed me to the area, made sure to introduce herself and reminded me she was the person that assisted me with my appointment. When I tell you, I have been cheated all my life and quickly realized Oak Valley Dental was different from other dental offices because they make sure you have a dental hygienist clean your teeth. Our Hygienist, Caroline, was amazing and made sure I was at ease while providing my cleaning. She not only provided the best cleaning I have ever had, but she also provided tips to help me improve my dental hygiene. I am profoundly grateful for the additional tips. During my second visit, I paid attention to the conversations around the office and quickly noticed how Yveth treated each patient as if they were the only patient as well as squeezed in emergencies right away! I knew she cares about her patients, and she loves what she does! Dr. Romero-Shu made sure to set expectations on services he provided, which the work he performed was painless. However, what stuck out the most is how patient and dedicated he is to his team. He was teaching one of his staff members how to use the camera and during his teaching he made sure to give her pointers that corelate to the tasks. My plan is to die with my teeth so I've always been a every 6 month girl. I've been coming to Oak Valley Dental for over a year now and I have seen all 3 dental hygienist . Caroline, Jay and CC, in that order. They are all meticulous and take pride in their work. I would be happy going to any of them. Dr Shu is however the most meticulous. I trust him, explicitly. The office is clean and modern. I had to get a crown a while back and he did it right then, no coming back. Oh and the front office, wonderful!! Delta Dental of California referred me to this dentist, the reviews online were promising. When I called I was thrilled to learn they also have late hours because many of us work 9-5 and who wants to take off work for a dentist appointment? Staff was super friendly and the cleaning went great. We did xrays because I was overdue. I knew I had a crown that needed replacement but I didn't say anything, the Dentist noticed immediately and said I had some more time on it but he could fit me in by end of year if I wanted to apply to this year's insurance. His staff promptly did an estimate and gave me several options. At no point did I feel pressure. If anything, I thought the office did an excellent job of explaining to me what my insurance covered, what I had already paid for with my premiums and what I was essentially leaving on the table. Super flexible & kind, I also appreciated the updated technology the office uses. Reminders on apps etc. My appt is next week, if anything changes I'll be sure to update! This post is so long over-due, but if you are looking for not only a great Dentist (Dr. Romero-Shu), but a great Dental-team who are not only knowledgeable in what they do (we've had the pleasure to get acquainted with/seen by Jay, Caroline, CC, Brianna, and Yveth), but also make you feel so welcomed as if you've known them for years, feel like family once you walk in through the doors, and are personable and invested in your care (and not treated like another number, or feel like you are always coming out of pocket for something), then I highly recommend Oak Valley Dental in Menifee to you. My husband and I are originally from out of state, and we were close to just going back to the East Coast to our old dentist since we were having trouble finding a good, personable one out here. Wait...did you hear/read what I just said?! We were close to spending money to travel back to the East Coast just to get our teeth cleaned and all that twice a year because we were having a hard time finding a Dentist who was personable and with integrity out here. Can you imagine how much that costs? Traveling between the West and East Coast is not cheap! We are used to the 'home-town' interaction with our physicians, so moving to CA and not finding a physician who was open to that kind of care was becoming disappointing. Dr. Romero-Shu's flier came to our door a few years ago and we've been with them since. It's important for us to be able to build a re-por with our doctors as we want to have a great doctor/patient relationship with them, which also includes having trust. I had a cavity that they had found, and Dr. Shu not only showed me on the screen what he saw from the x-rays, but he also took time to explain to me what the procedure would be like. Never had a cavity as an adult, so was at first nervous for how the procedure would go, but Dr. Romero-Shu was gentle and had a technique that made the procedure painless. It's so good to have found a Dentist and team who strive to have that 'home-town' feel and interaction with their patients as well. I use to hate coming to the dentist until I started coming here. They are so professional and caring

Did not listen to what I wanted. They all must be blind or super mean because they convinced me to resin good teeth to make them look the same yellow color. Now im sitting here with a good tooth that has a nasty colored resin. When I mentioned why are they not white (because I had previously mentioned my goal was white teeth) they told me i should have told them that in the beginning, WHICH I DID. Maybe if someone was paying attention to their clients instead of flirting around with his employees, i wouldnt be redoing my implant for a 3rd time!!! Also when redoing my implant they installed a new implant on a cracked post. So I had an infection in my face. That caused me to go see the ER, when I went back, i think they quoted me like $4k for the tooth they messed up on (only costs them $20 to make a 3d tooth, how much ever for the new post) when it was their fault, they should have noticed my post had a crack in it! Moral is, I walked in with a beautiful smile just needing a deep clean, and a crown fixed, and walked away with a deep infection, no deep clean, yellow resin teeth on good teeth, and felt defeated. I hate this place. You guys are definitely in it for the money and not the respect of helping people. read more

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Experience!!! Please check out Oak Valley Dental. Dr Marcelo Romero-Shu (Private practice, not a dental farm) located right off Newport Rd in Menifee. Easy parking, looks like you entered an apartment complex but you're in the right place. (Look for the big fountain in front of the entrance). This dental office has top of the line high tech equipment. Very clean and the staff are all genuinely kind! My first visit was an exam, treatment planning and a complete cleaning. My second visit was for 2 crowns. The scanner created my crowns (no plaster molds to bite down on). Porcelain/ceramic crowns were done SAME DAY while I waited. I was told the visit would take 2- 2 1/2 hrs total and that's exactly how long I was there. They offer TV, headset or whatever you need to be comfortable while you wait. No temporary crown and return visit needed. My crowns are very comfortable. Perfect!!! I love this office and I strongly recommend Oak Vally Dental!!! read more

I am so thankful I took the advice of some community members to call Oak Valley Dental. I was in a state of emergency with intense tooth pain that had me heading to the emergency room if I didn't get help immediately. The office manager answered and though Dr. Shu was out on emergency, she went over what they could do to get me immediate relief and really treated me not like just another patient. I was able to go the weekend without pain and just had my root canal done today. Dr Shu was so kind and explained in detail what we'd be doing step by step. I had as many breaks as needed and even got a visual walk through from start to finish after my procedure was done which was very cool to see. Dr. Romero is by far one of the best Dentist I have ever gone to. When he does his work in your mouth he is telling you what he is doing and makes you feel comfortable. People kept telling me a root canal was going to hurt bad. Dr. Romero was awesome, the root canal did not hurt one bit. The staff is super cool and they make you feel welcomed and take good care of you as a patient. If you haven't been to a dentist in a while and are afraid of what the dentist will say. I recommend Dr. Romero. He will tell you what needs to be done but won't make you feel bad like other dentists in the area. read more
