"Overall, the experience was okay, but there were some disappointments. The salesperson did not seem to know all the details about the vehicle, and we never really had the opportunity to negotiate the price. When we finally mentioned it in the finance office, he seemed very surprised. We were also promised that the vehicle would receive a detailed cleaning before delivery. However, when we picked it up, the interior was not fully cleaned--there were still stains and crumbs inside. The exterior also had spots and marks on the plastic trim around the vehicle. Additionally, we learned that the car had been used by an employee of the dealership. I had my rear license plate stolen. After 2 trips to Ace hdwe., and to one mechanic I still could not get the right screws to fit so that I could transfer my front plate to the rear (as advised by the local police department, until I could get a replacement plate). So on a lark I called Oakbrook Toyota - I have used them in the past and always got good service. I spoke with Anthony in parts, and he sort of chuckled and said come on in - we'll get you the right screws and install them for free. Sure enough, I pulled in, the mechanic was an ace - even chassed the threads. And I drove out with a new license plate holder (and the correct screws) that I will proudly display. read more

I came here 25 days ago for my service maintenance interval (e.g., oil, tire rotation). As I'm checking in, the service employee is looking up my past services. He comments on my car about how great the 4 wheel drive is. They don't make CHRs with 4 wheel drive (let alone AWD). They're all FWD! Also, he says verbatim, "These engines are great and reliable when you take care of them. If you don't, the engine blows up." What the heck, lol. Who tells their customers that?! Cons: Not very friendly, don't greet the customers when entering the service area. In instances where it's your first time, you could have an almost lost filling without direction. I wrote a review before this and realized how much I was convincing myself, hoping Toyota of Oakbrook would make things right, they refused to and want more money, so now here's an honest review. I'll live with what choice I made and this I hope will help others from actually giving this place a thought let alone business. I'm not writing this for retribution, I'm writing this for future possible customers to go somewhere else, and I hope you'll read it as such. I'll start with if you ever shake their hands, or feel a pat on the back, they're looking for your wallet and any loose change they can find. My wife, children, myself and our dog were in a total loss collision on Labor Day weekend, my 2014 Toyota Corolla S was hit from behind, and ran into the back of the car in front of us, we all walked away thankfully. We went looking for a new car and due to my driving mileage of almost 500 miles a week plus our yearly 2 week trip across country we wanted a new car, which would be my first. I'm a 1980s child, and all my car buying experiences maybe I'm foolish to still believe a car is just tool to take on amazing adventures. Most of the dealerships I have ever worked with, while they would argue and haggle with you, at least they would make it pain free. And while I'm clear on dealerships need to make money, my experience is they'll shake you for every last penny they can get. And I'm clear the shortages of 2021/2023 so price are high to begin with, now Toyotas North American president has actually said to "keep inventory low", hence high prices for consumers. Gee wonder which cars they'll be keeping low probably the ones that they don't make much money on like the one I was choosing. So I walked in here being clear I might pay msrp or maybe a bit higher. Charles Barron took 20-30 minutes just to find the damn car, given it was the only one on the lot, I actually had to tell him where to look for the car and guess where it was, it was in the bay in pre-inspection. Not well inspected I might add, they still had the wrapping edge glue around the car, they never wiped it off. (Learned that the night of purchase). Then when I called it to their attention they only cleaned one side, and scratched the front fender which they never fixed. 6 hours I was in the dealership, between negotiating, which they barely budged. Did I mention the air conditioner was busted in the dealership so it was hot to begin with and they offered warm water, very generous of them. Finally we settled on a price, which was about 3 grand over msrp, and Joseph Perry, told me I was wrong on my numbers and I agreed to settle on, "throw in the official Corola car mats, and we'll agree to it" Charles smiled and said "no problem" and we had a deal 2 hours later we signed, you would think one of their add ons would have been done by this time, nope.(the ceramic and interior protection) When we got to six hours at the dealer, aprox the car was finally ready and I was driving out. I spoke to Joseph and Charles and was agreed with Bill Hallom, to order the mats no charge, Joseph even said write it down. We'll here we are 4 weeks later, Charles contacted me at 750 am Sunday morning, to say, "the mats were not included in the purchase but he would talk to someone Monday." That's after weeks of promising me he was taking care of it. That's fine I'm already making arrangements to order oem ones as we speak, and texted Charles as much. Also told him not to contact me anymore. I went there for one service to get an oil change after the first thousand miles since the car was an import it was made in Japan, better to break it in the first thousand hoping to keep it around for 10+ years. Not only did the service advisor tell me I was wrong for wanting an oil change but then wouldn't honor the online price, plus added their 3% credit card fee. l actually had to tell him, "it's my car and my choice" he said, it's "your money" Then matters that I wanted addressed like the scratch on the fender and some chips, he said would be taken care of. Which of course none of the matters are resolved. Also you would think they use official oil from Toyota, aka Mobil, nope they use valvoline. In the end I'll never go back to this dealership or their network, I refuse now to speak with them, and I'm reporting them to Toyota corporate directly, as well as letting Toyota know. In conclusion, Thank you Oakbrook Toyota for ruining my first new car buying experience, all my cars to date were used. Next time I'll buy a Honda. I remember what Joseph said before we agreed to the deal, "think about it, doesn't work, we can depart as friends" Well Joe with you and Charles as friends, I don't need friends, hate to think of wtf enemies would be like with friends like you and your staff. read more

I gave 2 stars So this review will not be deleted. I gave them a second chance for an oil change. The wait was better but the visit was worse. I left with a list of recommendations totalling almost $3700.00 which I did no need so everyone beware of this dealer. I asked Steve, the service advisor, for an experienced tech.to do the work and inspection on the car.I've been having bad luck with the oil change people breaking things and not filling up the tires and oil level properly. He couldn't accomidate. When the oil change was done he called with the bad news all 4 struts were leaking and needing change, I needed an engine flush and my brake fluid was dark and needed changing. I explained the Brake fluid was changed last year and the Toyota dealer that changed it told me it changed color immediately so go by time not color? I was also always told by them a "flush" wasn't necessary if I changed my oil on time? I told him to just change the oil and give me the quote when I get there. When I got home I looked at my struts to find only the front passenger slightly leaking. I know struts are supposed to be replaced in pairs even if the other is good so I took it to my mechanic. He told me per Toyota that if the vehicle drives fine and the leak hasn't progressed passed the saddle the strut is still considered good. So I only needed a $70 oil change instead of the almost $4000.00 after tax they tried to scare me into spending. Just avoid them and ALWAYS get a second opinion when talking with the service department or anyone there. I've tried twice now out of convenience . No more. I'll just go out of my way to Elmhurst. read more

I would strongly recommend anyone shop elsewhere. Bill Hallom, the sales manager, is unprofessional and allowed his emotions get the best of him today. I was negotiating out the door price. They did not even make any attempts to negotiate and we were only $4k apart on a $60k vehicle. I would've met them in the middle if they handled this in a professional manner. I was very clear about my starting numbers and shared them in writing. If he doesn't understand what OTD means then he shouldn't be in this profession. They did not counter. Bill Hallom shook my hand and said goodbye. As my wife and I were walking away I noticed I did not have my keys for my trade-in. When I asked for them, Bill, who was back at his desk, threw them on the desk towards the salesman and said "I will not work with with anyone twisting s***" from across the room. I called him out on it and he became irate shouting at us as we were walking away with customers and other salesmen watching this fiasco. I was deeply disappointed in my last and final visit to your service department. During a previous visit I was advised that the remedy for one of my vehicles factory recalls was being delayed by Toyota and was advised to return for my routine servicing in a few months when the remedy could also be installed. When I did return for servicing the inspection showed various problems with the suspension and I was advised to get approximately $3000 worth of work done on the automobile's suspension. On that day my car was within the three year warranty. However, the odometer now exceeded the mileage limit for a warranty repair by a few hundred miles or less.(The old three years or 36 thousand miles -- whichever comes first ).I was also advised to replace several tires that would have been be sold to me at a cost of $200 tire. At that time I decided that I would do better by having the services performed and the tires replaced by a highly regarded local auto repair store that I trusted. The cost of services for the mechanical repairs were similar to those charged by your company and they put on some good new tires that cost much less than Toyota's. read more

Terrible!! I booked a service appointment with them because my truck was malfunctioning and I'm about to go on a trip. This is where I bought the truck. When I took it in the day of the appointment, they said they COULDN'T SERVICE MY VEHICLE! Now a week after I booked the appointment there's no time to find another shop before I have to leave with a malfunctioning truck. I submitted a complaint via their website, and I got nothing but automated responses asking me when I wanted to bring the truck in for service AFTER THEY COLD ME THEY COULDN'T SERVICE MY TRUCK. We agreed on a price to a 2012 Altima but when they went over the extra fees and taxes there was a charge listed for 575.00 for a LoJack device. I told them we didn't want that but they said it's already on the car and it's a mandatory fee. I argued then they should have put that in the price of the car. We got up to leave and the manager came over and lowered the price of the car 575.00 but left the LoJack fee. Earlier of course he professed how transparent there are about everything and showed be the books to sell me on the fact that he was at the lowest he could go on the price of the car. I have had Oakbrook Toyota service my car for years because they seemed reasonably honest to me but I recently had a bad experience. I took my Prius V in for scheduled maintenance. They advised me to replace the PCV valve after inspecting the car. When I asked why, they said that it is an item that has its own maintenance schedule, like an oil change. I checked the manual for my car and it wasn't there. I did a Google search and found no mention of it. I asked if they inspected it to see if it was bad and the service advisor said "no." The long and short of it is that they were trying to get me to authorize an unnecessary a $360 repair by lying to me that it was a scheduled maintenance item. I find being lied to like that to be unacceptable. read more

After 1 test drive and wanting to search more possibilities, an overbearing and obnoxious guy came to start his pressure of selling me the first car. He was way over the top and demeaning when I asked about leasing. He was adamant that it wasn't really an option anymore. Anyway, I walked and drove back to a Mazda dealership and purchased a 2023 CX30. If this jerk had not come over, I would have looked at other Toyota possibilities and may have made a purchase. I guess I should have read the Yelp reviews before I brought my car in for service. I brought my 4Runner to have the rear sway bar repaired. The service department gave me a quote to fix it which I accepted. They even made me pay in advance to order the parts. The day it was to be repaired they called to inform me they forgot to order a part and it would be $300 more. I guess the quote doesn't mean anything. Well I told them no and went and picked up my car. I took it to my local repair shop where they repaired it for half the cost. Oakbrook Toyota never made any attempt to make things right. I've never dealt with more shady people than at Toyota Oakbrook dealership. FIRST, they offered me 4k less on my trade-in than it was worth I must have had a "I'm stupid" sign on my head or something. The salesman Jacob and I reached an agreement on a car this morning over the phone, it was a done deal. I drove 45 mins in from the city and was on my way, Jacob knew this, when your Manager Bill called to inform me the car is being sold to someone else. I was 10 minutes away and I told him that and so did Jacob, who I know wanted to make the sale we worked so hard at negotiating. Bill was so rude and could really care less. I pleaded with him to not sell the car that his salesman Jacob had called me 10 mins prior literally saying it was mine and he was taking it to "be cleaned" so its off the floor. Then got a call back saying it was being sold. I was on my way going as fast as I can (90 on the expressway) BILL DIDNT CARE he said "that's business" WOW!!! I even offered to make a deposit or even pay over the phone and he still said there was nothing he can do. I would rather walk than go into a Bob Rorhman dealership ever again after the experience I had today. ZERO customer service or care. I don't expect much from car dealerships but this was a new low. Was 'greeted' about 2 steps into the sales center and the first thing after hello was, just so you know we are selling all new cars significantly over MSRP. What a predatory practice. I was just actually just investigating what car I wanted to buy ( I had my heart set on a Volkswagen Atlas but after Nurlan had me test drive several Toyotas, I fell in love with everything about the Highlander and after Maher Belkaid, the Used Car Manager gave me a great trade in dollar amount for my Ford Explorer, I could not pass the car up. They had lots of cars to pick from but Nurlan really helped my narrow down the right car for me and my budget and my needs. Took car back to the original Toyota dealership I go to (Mishawaka Indiana) and it was $61 dollars for oil change and fluid refill.
