Stopped by Buckhorn for the first time for Father's Day lunch. Great joint for pretty good BBQ!…read more Buckhorn is an order at the counter and get a number type place. The line was long when we came in, but moved quickly. The bigger problem is that there aren't nearly enough tables for how many folks were dining in. We did end up finding a table on their patio- which is always a win for our family. For about $70, we got two kids' meals (one slider and one chicken tenders), a shareables order of the tri-tip tacos (that my wife ate as her entree), and a two-protein platter with the pulled pork and tri-tip. They asked how we wanted our tri-tip cooked, and we answered medium, but all of the tri-tip came out well done. The flavors of everything were good, though, and the portions are substantial. The kids' meals are a great value. The two-protein platter was enough for two meals if you wanted it to be. The tacos were filled generously and were very tasty. I enjoyed the coleslaw- though I read some others find it bland. I did not think that at all. I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available at Buckhorn. They have a pump-your-own-sauce station with several types of BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, ketchup, and spicy ranch. Yum! My favorite was the mustard-based BBQ sauce. Overall, I would totally return to Buckhorn. I could probably lean 4 stars here, but I think it's a better spot for BBQ than many others in my area and in the Roseville area that I've tried. It's certainly made my Roseville area visit list.

First off, the format is order at counter and either pick up togo or get a number to have the food brought to you. Inside seating was clean but w a cafeteria vibe. They have what could loosely be described as a bar completely unmanned on a Saturday afternoon. Fortunately we weren't interested that today. So very meh. The service at the counter was very pleasant then you go into make your own sodas. My wife had the tri-tip burger and her tri-tip was grisly. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was Sahara dry. Even generous amounts of bbq sauce couldn't save it. Bbq sauce not bad though. Cole slaw for the sando was also pretty good. The highlight of the visit were the OG fries. Huge plate suitable for sharing across 2-4 people...If we ever went back, it would be for cold beers and sharing a plate of fries....

I usually go for the dirty grilled cheese, always comes out great (tons of meat), looking and tasting delicious. Tonight I made a different choice, thought I'd try a bit healthier option with the meat sampler chicken. Now usually when I have been to bbq spots you get like 1/2 chicken so I was VERY shocked when the smallest piece of sliced chicken breast came out on a little side plate. Was a strange presentation and immediately had me disappointed in my choice. In fairness, the chicken tasted nice, was pretty dry though and barely warm, but good flavor at least (needed sauce so wasn't so dry). It was maybe 4-5 ounces of chicken which seems a bit skimpy for the price. My side salad with blue cheese dressing was good as usual. They should really consider at least more chicken and better plating though! Got my usual, very berry refresher, maybe a new bartender tonight? Wasn't as good as usual, but everyone has an off night. Overall though, love this place, still gave a good rating and of course will be back.

We ordered nachos and side salads to get a feel for the place. The salads were okay, though they were plated in tiny bowls making it impossible to dress/eat without spilling on the table. We decided to ask for larger plates and dump the salads on those instead. The nachos were a gigantic portion with freshly made chips and looked promising. The flavor, however, was lackluster- mostly tasting of oil from the chips and the too thick layer of cheddar cheese. We picked around the plate, but eventually gave up. We won't return, but it seems plenty of others have found something they enjoy from this restaurant.

Try all the flavors they offer, you're guaranteed to find a favorite. I've ordered bone in and boneless chicken and both are moist, juicy and large portion. Crispy padak (lightly sauced and piled with green onion) and yangnyeom (sticky savory sweet chili) are my favorites. My brothers favorites were the regular crispy and honey butter which to me is reminiscent of kettle corn. We also enjoyed their veggie japchae ($13), kimchi fried rice ($7), and beef gimbap ($10). Their chicken combo meals are a great bargain starting at $14. I usually have leftovers when I get that. Staff at this branch are very nice, politely answered my questions and the restaurant itself is tidy. Building is tucked away in a tiny plaza next to the tokyo cream shop. In about thirty minutes or so after eating I could not finish my entire plate even though the food I ordered tasted super good. If you guys get a chance to meet Kevin as your waiter you will enjoy his service. I got a chance to speak with Galina also. The reason I feel like their cornbread is by far the best is because when I bite into it I just taste deliciousness all around. Last night when I came here I told Kevin I wanted the turkey with trip tip along with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce added as the sides. Whoever made these mashed potatoes really knows what they are doing. A side of mashed potatoes I rate an 11 cornbread 10 for 10 and turkey with tri tip a 10 out of 10. Don't freak out by the looks of their cornbread at first glance, once you try it your going to want to order plenty for everyone. Thanks guys. And the manager credit to you also at Back Forty.

The beef ribs were huge, incredibly tender, and packed with smoky flavor. The pork ribs were the best I've had in a long time--cooked to perfection with just the right amount of bite. The tri-tip was juicy, flavorful, and sliced perfectly. We also shared a baked potato and the mac and cheese, and both were the perfect sides. The atmosphere has a fun country vibe, right down to the cowboy hat-wearing servers. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. We were greeted with a warm welcome as soon as we walked in, and the experience ended with our leftovers boxed up and a genuine invitation to come back again soon. Great barbecue, friendly people, and the kind of hospitality that makes you want to return. We'll definitely be back!

My sister said it gets very busy at dinner time and the wait time can be over an hour. For lunch, it was quite a good deal. AYCE Hotpot, sushi and BBQ for about $30. If you only choose one of the AYCE options, it is about $25 but seems worth it to get the all 3 combo for $30. It does seem that everybody at the table has to choose the same option. Hot pot - You each get your own individual hot pot. There had a pretty good variety of broth flavors to choose from. There is a menu that you can order the meat from. There were 5 of us and we were told we can order 4 meats to share per round. There is a separate area for to grab a tray/bowl and choose your veggies. All in all, I enjoyed the Tonkatsu broth and like the variety of meats and veggies available. Korean BBQ - A bit different in that you do not order at the table. There is an area with small trays of meat available for you to grab and bring back to your table. Good variety. Pork Jowl was my favorite and it's not as common. The only issue is that if your party doesn't communicate, you some how end up grabbing all of the same items! So discuss amongst yourselves or else it might be an overkill. Didn't try the sushi simply because I had some good quality sushi the night before so no need for buffet style sushi. The staff was VERY friendly and efficient. They came by often to check on us, take away dirty plates and to change the grill. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot.

Great patients with the grandparents as they are less adventurous as they took time to explain the process as well as recommending a less "punch you in the face" broths for their individual hotpot. This buffet style was also cool in that all the individual proteins (pre-cooled/seasoned/fully cooked) were individually plated and in little half boxes . Diners take an empty lunch tray, gather what looks good for their liking and return to their table to cook and enjoy. Definitely much more "civilized" . Way better than large sections with multiple tongs encouraging the food savages. Another big plus is the wide selections. For those food influencers...it will be a long running camera shot just to capture the amount of different items. The challenge with this approach tho is that the plates and small food containers can stack up bery quickly and take over much of the real estate on the dining table top. But we were amazed at the team work of the staff to quickly make the needed elbow room. On a busy Saturday night tho, it definitely can still be a bit tricky. The value for the AYCE die hards are definitely there! There are solid options of meats fish and veg. But those fearing AYCE diners can also expect a certain level madness. We saw many unintentional dropping of trays of eager patrons. There were definitely ambitious customers that are stacking their trays sky high. Customers on our visit were generally very cordial to staff and on the couple of "tim.....berssss" we witnessed, the response time to clean up was really impressive! The AYCE masses are hard to please for sure, but it may make a difference to apply some general limit on the individual patrons trays? That may frustrate some hardcore diners but can enhance the experience of others. We will reiterate that the managing team is just doing such a bang up job in hiring a great crew! They all were hustling and we definitely noticed! WTG!!!
