Stopped by Buckhorn for the first time for Father's Day lunch. Great joint for pretty good BBQ! Buckhorn is an order at the counter and get a number type place. The line was long when we came in, but moved quickly. The bigger problem is that there aren't nearly enough tables for how many folks were dining in. We did end up finding a table on their patio- which is always a win for our family. For about $70, we got two kids' meals (one slider and one chicken tenders), a shareables order of the tri-tip tacos (that my wife ate as her entree), and a two-protein platter with the pulled pork and tri-tip. They asked how we wanted our tri-tip cooked, and we answered medium, but all of the tri-tip came out well done. The flavors of everything were good, though, and the portions are substantial. The kids' meals are a great value. The two-protein platter was enough for two meals if you wanted it to be. The tacos were filled generously and were very tasty. I enjoyed the coleslaw- though I read some others find it bland. I did not think that at all. I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available at Buckhorn. They have a pump-your-own-sauce station with several types of BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, ketchup, and spicy ranch. Yum! My favorite was the mustard-based BBQ sauce. Overall, I would totally return to Buckhorn. I could probably lean 4 stars here, but I think it's a better spot for BBQ than many others in my area and in the Roseville area that I've tried. We love Buckhorn so it was nice to try out this location in Rocklin. We walked in and it wasn't too busy yet. The layout is the same as any location where you order food at the counter, get your number, and wait at table. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice because the indoor space isn't very big. Staff are helpful. They keep everything organized and clear out tables quickly We got the feast for 2 meal and added the garlic fries. It came with choice of 2 meats, 2 sides, salad, and corn bread or rolls. The portions were big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids to eat. They offer different bbq sauces at a self serve station. The food didn't take too long to come out. And we enjoyed everything. We did find the smoked sausage a little spicy for the kids, but they loved the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. We liked this location even if it's a little small. Buckhorn was a pretty decent spot. I came here for lunch one afternoon because I needed to pick things up at Walmart. Once I got there my food was ready, (online) and I was able to sit inside. The customer service at this location is hella good. Legit. They non stopped checked up on me and made sure I was good. I just got the sandwich and soup special with a drink. Came with the mister for lunch on a Friday & there was a good amount of people. We waited for a moment to be helped by a friendly staffer who apologized for the wait. We ordered at the counter, got a number, & then picked a spot to sit. It is a big, airy, bright space from all the windows & natural light. It was clean & well-maintained. Seating options are plentiful at the bar, high tops, tables, booths, & outdoor shaded patio. The music was loud alternative. Three TVs had sports on. Fountain drinks & sauces are self serve. However, I didn't see additional napkins available & they didn't offer wet wipes like I remember at another location I've visited. There are hand sanitizer wall dispensers. Our food was brought to the table quickly by a friendly server, along with utensils & napkins. This place was packed-- barely any seating inside so my boyfriend decided to sit outside and the staff was nice enough to turn the heaters on for us. It was nice being alone outside so we could demolish some ribs with no shame. Our food came in quickly soon after we found our seats. The ribs were thick and tender with some good BBQ flavor. Approx 1:30 after lunch crowd, Tuesday, 4/28/26. I got the Tri Tip Buck with Au Jus. Half the small amount of beef was fat. If they trim in-house, it was a sloppy job. The roll was NOT toasted. The au jus was totally plain. Usually Au Jus tends to be on the salty side. This Au Jus tasted like it came from Campbell's beef broth low or no salt. The side broccoli salad was fine. Just like I make. Husband got the Steak House Burger. He asked for no pink, but got pink. The crispy onion was tasteless and he pushed it off. He also got a side of onion rings. Not great. The Cheesesteak Shop has better onion rings. Having stated all that, we want to return for pulled pork, ribs and such. Hoping for a better experience. Service was good when you flag down someone. About as mediocre as I expected. My fault for spending money here. If you're looking for good bbq- this is not the place, customer service was fine, ambiance is annoyingly modern but it's 2026 that's whatever. My main problem is the food was so lack luster that I opened up yelp and am writing a review. No soul, offensively small portions for a $25 plate, raisins in the coleslaw, in a word the whole experience was... boring. Side note- a BBQ place with no brisket is insane to me but I tried to look past that red flag in hopes there'd be something that would make me be a fan since I'm local to this establishment. 100% will not be coming back, if you want a boring, run of the mill, lifeless corporate bbq place then Buckhorn BBQ + Grill is the place for you. 2 kids picking dinner...between buckhorn bbq and in-n-out across the street...some back and forth, but ended up at buckhorn...a line to the counter to order...menu above the wall...at the counter and placing orders...was difficult finding stuff for the kids...staff quickly taking out a kids menu...they should post it above with the regular menu...cancelling my order and starting from scratch...hamburger slider with tater tots $9...another hamburger with sweet potato fries $9...full roadhouse salad $12.40...order of mini churros $10 for dessert...taking number stand to self-seating tables....one of the restaurant having self-serve fountain drink machines...quite the variety of drinks available...a sauce bar next to the fountains with quite a variety of sauces...busy evening and food coming out slowly and delivered to the table...kids loved the burgers, tater tots and sweet potato fries...finished clean... the roadhouse salad was good, but little overdressed and a mountain of fried onion strings...probably ask for the dressing on the side...fried onions is probably not the healthiest topping for a salad....still good overall...churros came out last and definitely fresh and piping hot...so good...about $50 for a full salad and 2 kids burger meals... read more

I've reviewed here before, but I thought I'd give a quick update... I took my mom out for a quick light dinner and we decided to come here. It's rapidly becoming one of my "go to" spots. It's conveniently located for me, has plenty of options of food I like. The more I come here, the more I notice little things that tell me the place is well managed. It's well staffed... the staff are friendly, helpful and respectful. They seem happy... which, honestly, stands out against some other restaurants these days. They all seem to be pulling their weight and looking out for things they can do to improve the overall situation... the customer experience... keeping the place clean, etc. Something as simple as picking up a napkin off the floor - I can think of numerous other places I've been where I've watched staff walk past something on the floor numerous times. I also happened to see goals listed on a whiteboard in a back room when someone came through a door - again, a nod to management, who obviously discusses these things with the whole staff and it shows... they all work as a team. Came in for lunch. It was our first time there but had to try it since it smelled so good. We signed up for the rewards. It is free and on our next visit we get a free order of burnt ends. We ordered and ate there. It was on the weekend and lunch rush so it was a bit busy and a little hard to get a table since you seat yourself. They do have a little bar area to sit and outside seating as well. Everyone was very pleasant and nice. You get your own drinks and condiments and wait for them to bring your food. This was my first meal at a Buckhorn's and it was delicious! I had the tri-tip sandwich with fries. The bun is fresh and buttery, the caramelized onions were perfect, and the fries were perfectly crispy. But my favourite was the horseradish sauce!!! It was the PERFECT complement to the tender beef. Food is still great, trip-tip, garlic mashed, rolls, but the reason for the bad rating is because of the sauce. What happened? They used to have an in-house spicy BBQ sauce and switched to what is essentially a pre-packaged "Sweet Baby Ray's" style sweet BBQ sauce that comes in cups like a fast food restaurant. We've actually been going to this location since it opened over 5 years ago. I've only been to the Roseville, Galleria before this. Rocklin is so easy to maneuver compared to the Galleria. The food at Rocklin is consistently great. We usually get the Tri-tip sandwiches and split a side. We like it rare and they've never faulted. There is nothing I can recommend to make this sandwich better. This week we ordered the Piggy Tuesday Deal for 2. The deal is pulled pork, a massive sausage and 1/2 a rack of baby back ribs. We chose Apple slaw, Macaroni & cheese with cornbread. They provided ample horseradish and BBQ sauce. Went here our first time with my wife, mother and 2 Grandsons. The restaurant was very busy. Good Sign. The menu is decent they have a lot of choices several soft drink choices. My wife had the Lettuce wrap burger 4/5, I ordered the Roadhouse Bleu. Mom Had the Buckhorn burger both grandsons had the hamburger sliders. All the burgers were sizeable but your are going to pay for it. We ordered a side of the potato waffle fries 4/5 which were good. My burger had little if any Blue Cheese on it but it was decent 3/5. The other burgers were decent 4/5. Our bill for the 5 of us was just under $100. Will i go back maybe but I won't be in any rush. read more

I think I asked for regular ranch or mayo. I can't remember. They didn't put much on to even notice. The cripsy part of the breading had a lot of pepper. I forgot to ask if seasoning was in the breading. The chicken seemed more like a patty then a whole piece of chicken. As a vegetarian, Buckhorn is not high on my list of dining options. But, my boyfriend is a big fan and loves their salmon platter so once in a while, I'll agree to dine at one of their locations. They do have salads and make a surprisingly good black bean veggie burger. This location in Rocklin is in a large plaza with ample parking and some shops to wander to before or after eating. We'd stopped here on the way home from a hike and arrived around 4. It was pretty empty between lunch and dinner but by 4:45, the place was filling up. Went here on a Sunday night. The line was fairly long but moves quickly. The gal taking the orders was very friendly and efficient. Food: Excellent - my salad was fresh and they don't skimp on the toppings. I didn't order meat but my family enjoyed their trip-tip, pulled pork and chicken. The onion rings were very crispy and I would definitely order those again. Drinks: They have beer and wine, but the only hard alcohol they have are pre-mixed drinks. My husband enjoyed his IPA! We ordered the crispy chicken salad, which is maybe one of my favorite salads of all time. The ratio of chicken to salad is just right, and the dressing is my favorite salad dressing. It's a little creamy and lemony. I liked the avocados and tomatoes too. Our other order was the two item bbq: ribs and tri tip, with mac and cheese, corn bread, and onion rings on the side. This is similar to my review of Buckhorn in Vacaville. I have loved BH for decades and glad to see they have grown to many locations including this one. Never knew it was here until this past weekend. It is located near Green Acres in the same shopping center. There are many choices on their menu from sandwiches to salads that would have something for everyone. I always get the tri-tip buck. Meat is tender and flavorful without any needed sauces although they have many! I really like the chipotle ranch that the other location did not. The onion straws are amazing! Prices are a little high ($20 pp for a meal combo) but you always get quality food. Heck, I have spent that at fast food without the satisfaction so its worth it. All the employees were friendly. The inside is clean, although a bit chilly. Glad I brought a jacket. Only eh thing was that they advertised a blackberry lemonade mocktail that was right up hubs alley and was shocked to find that it was $7.50! It was so not worth it. I was thinking $5 and even then, not worth it. The berries were frozen so it was more of a decoration because it was not edible and it came in a small glass. They do have a wonderful selection of lemonades in the fountain drink area for less that is much better. read more

From when we walked in everyone seemed nice and had a smile for the most part and I think because one of the gals was busy the manager may have helped us and was very patient since it was our first time here. Food was absolutely delicious . We had a platter of tri tip , corn bread and some sweet potatoes fries and regular fries! I'd definitely get the regular fries next time ! Their sauces are so good too ! The bbq and the chipotle ranch are to die for! Very happy with the service and everything was SO clean! The cleanest restaurant I've ever been to. I've always been a fan of Buckhorn's, whether at the mall or Midtown or in Folsom. I had yet to discover this location in Rocklin but now we're regulars! So yeah, I'm on a diet and I need to eat meat! As far as restaurants or fast food, my options are slim! I thought of Buckhorns and although it's been a good minute, I remembered how good they were! I order their Tri Tip by the pound and I kinda cheated by ordering the beans and salad! But it was all so worth it! lol Their bbq beans are so good! I love that they added lima beans. Since we don't frequent Buckhorns often, on my first visit at this location, the cashier added me to a loyalty app. I thought it might be worth it since we're on a diet of eating meat. I came back within a week and we ordered the Tri Tip, bc it was so damn good! I tell Taylor the cashier I have a Rewards App and she tells me I get a free offer of Tri Tip bites! GTFO!
