We were able to try to this location again. My family picked it for our Saturday night dinner spot. We arrived earlier before the crowds around 4 pm. Surprised how busy they were for early dinners or maybe others had a late lunch. This time I tried a different sandwich. I think the menu said it had beef brisket, french fried onions, blue cheese and blue cheese spread. Glad it arrived with the spread on the side. But it was very good. I didn't see regular French fries on their menu. We asked after very friendly server said they had regular fries. I already ordered a baked potato. I love most all potatoes. It was very good they did not hold back on the butter and sour cream! I was very happy. Clean restaurant, very friendly servers and everyone enjoyed their meals. Everyone really loved their bread sides. My husband got the banana bread let me try some very good.

Brisket platter, beef ribs platter and the cornbread. Pics of the place as well.

This place is fantastic! The atmosphere is very country like and very cozy. Nice country music. We got seated right away . The waiter was very nice and friendly. The food came very fast and piping HOT. I ordered the cornbread which was fresh from the oven amazing hot. Ordered the lean brisket petite size with garlic mashed potatoes and apple Granny Smith coleslaw . My partner had the beef ribs with fries. I tasted the ribs and of course delicious. Everything was delicious! Can't complain! For sure will be back! The portion size of the food is enough to bring xtra home.

I went here for lunch a weekday. It has the lodge frontier look to it. I was quickly greeted by the staff, as I entered. It was very quiet. There was only one other diner. I was quickly seated. The the waiter was comically over eager. He was like one of the young comedians from the nineties. I asked about the portion sizes and started ordering.. brisket, granny coleslaw, garlic potatoes, corn bread and an iced tea. The waiter did make funny comments while I ordered. I was served relatively quickly. I got the corn bread first, it was not that great. I got my drink next. I then got the main dish. I ordered the larger size, akin to average +. The garlicky goodness from the potatoes hit my nose, mmm. The brisket was in average form, leaning to a roast beef texture. The taste was beefy and good and moist. The provided sauce did not do it for me. The coleslaw was great to balance it out. The staff seemed to be in a hurry, yet were very attentive and friendly. If they tweaked their cook and added offered other sauces they could have a home run.

My plate of ribs. 46 dollars. Rather dry.

I like the atmosphere in this place. Always wanted to try this business. Came here with my wife for dinner. The host and ser er were friendly and helpful. The request for water brought us 2 large mason jars of ice water and a wedge of lemon in each. Nice touch, no need to ask for refills. My wife got the brisket nachos. Plentiful portion, it would be better if the BBQ sauce was on the side as there seemed to be a bit too much of it already on the food. I ordered a full slab of beef ribs, with the thought I would bring some home. They were tasty, and were tender in the middle but too dry and crisp on the outer portion of all of them. (See photo) I included a caesar salad and Mac and cheese as sides. Salad gets 5 stars. Fresh and crispy greens, dressing on the side. Mac and cheese was okay but the macaroni texture was a bit soft for my taste. Wife ordered a house margarita and I had a MaiTai. Margaritas came first. It was way too sour to drink and we sent it back. My drink came 5-7 minutes later. It was okay. Wife did not reorder a drink and they took hers off the bill. Overall not a horrible experience, but I probably will not be back. Really my best advice as a grill master and frequent rib cookoff participant, do not let the ribs dry out!

Came in today with my grandma for lunch. I got the tri tip petite plate and a side salad with a side of ranch dressing and a side of seasonal vegetables and I got some biscuits with butter the food was so good like it always is and I also got an unsweetened iced tea it's always so good just like there food. Our service was very good Glinda our waitress was very nice and helpful and made sure we were well taken care of. As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were welcomed in and also when we were leaving as well the same guy at the front was nice to us. We were also able to seat at the booth table we normally seat at even though they were seating everyone on the other side of the restaurant that was so nice that they did that for us. The restaurant was very clean and even smelled super clean as well. I have been coming here my whole life and I will continue to do so and continue to tell everyone I know about this place. If you haven't been here yet I highly recommend checking it out.

8 oz prime rib tasted smokey but was medium rare and packaged very nicely, ~$23 after tax. 1/2025

For most people, I'd say Back Forty should earn 5 stars. I'm neurodivergent, have a trait, HSP. I process scents and tastes (and sounds and lights) more deeply than most. And I greatly dislike any smoked food. I skipped tri tip because they smoke it. I opted for prime rib. Turns out, it's smoked, too. Or, it has a strong flavor of it. It bothers me a lot. So for that, I'm probably not going to return. However, the building is super fun to enter, inside I like it is nicely lit and decorated. Frances, she was great. The young man answering the phone doesn't have a clue about the menu. When I arrived, there were way too many staff and I'm wondering if any besides the lead really know the menu (weights and how cooked). Not same standards I was raised with and I'm not that old! My recommendation to the company is to place the weights of meat portions on the menu. And mark how it's prepared (smoked, smoke flavoring added, grilled) and cook temperatures available (rare, medium, medium rare, etc) because your employees don't have a clue. The price for my 8 oz prime rib, 2 sides, and bread was quite fair, $23 or so. Bummed that reviews say cornbread isn't good. Frances hinted it's not great, so I said surprise me (I didn't want white bread). The banana bread (no nuts) was delicious but my cornbread craving can never be satiated enough. lol! I loved the fried okra.

Back Forty Texas BBQ did not disappoint! We tried the pulled pork, hot links, salad, potato spuds, and jalapeño poppers--everything was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, flavorful, and had just the right amount of smoky goodness. The jalapeño poppers were a standout, packed with flavor and just the right kick. The only thing we didn't love was the okra, but with everything else being so fantastic, it didn't even matter. Great service, great food, and a great experience. We'll definitely be back! We had Frances for a server and she was really sweet and kind and nice and the whole inside and outside just looks great

    BEST BURGER IN TOWN!

We are regulars here, now. Galinda and Tim have re-mastered the place to include outstanding staff (Kevin should give classes at the local junior college), a great atmosphere , and 14-hour smoked brisket and ribs that melt in your mouth! We have brought friends, family, and business associates and plan to use their amazingly flexible catering skills (parties from 30 to 300) at our next gathering. Most recently, we went and got burgers, just cause we were in the mood. Hands down , the BEST burger around. Truly "cooked to order" (medium rare WAS medium rare) with big slices of tomato and onion and fresh leafy lettuce on a bun that was toasted and actually held together throughout the entire drippy, yummy, juicy burger-eating process. I had yummy Mac & Cheese and my BF had Texas Steak Fries that were really good (I hijacked one or two). This is now our go-too burger place as well as our barbecue must-have joint.

Back Forty Texas BBQ has been one of my absolute favorite BBQ spots in all of California for the past 15 years. My family and I have been loyal customers for over a decade, and we keep coming back because it's just that good. Ever since the Orlov family took over a couple years ago, the restaurant has taken things to an entirely new level. The quality of the food, the attention to detail, and the customer service have all significantly improved. You can really feel the pride and care they put into running this place. The beef brisket is simply incredible...tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Honestly, all of their dishes hit the mark. While takeout is great, I always recommend dining in. The atmosphere of the restaurant, combined with the warm service, makes for a full experience you just can't get from a to-go bag. If you're craving real BBQ, Back Fortu is a must..

Fried picked, pork ribs, brisket all delicious. Bbq sauce on it was amazing as well.

All was amazing. Been 5 years since I've been here. It feels like it had gotten better. No complaints and then servers have been friendly. Absolutely will come again.

    Sliced Tri-tip sandwich
    Matthew K.

Back Forty doesn't play around. You walk in and the smell grabs you by the collar--wood smoke, meat, something sweet and tangy lingering in the air. It's not subtle. It's also not optional. You're eating BBQ now. We got the tri-tip sandwich because obviously. Tender, juicy, kissed with just the right amount of char. The roll held it together like a champ until it didn't, which is when things got spiritual. Saucy fingers. Zero regrets. Chef's kiss doesn't even cover it. Also grabbed the pulled pork potato skins, which are somewhere between appetizer and full-blown life choice. Crispy, cheesy, porky little boats of happiness. Hot enough to hurt your mouth if you're impatient--and I was--but worth it. Now. The garlic mashed potatoes. I don't even know what to say. Those puppies were silky, savory, buttery perfection. Garlic present, but not aggressive. If I had a tub of this at home, I'd skip dinner and just eat it standing at the counter like a goblin. So good. We come here often. This place has its priorities straight.

Catering for 75 in Roseville . Roseville on October 19?

Most definitely , ask to speak to the catering manager , Galina

Do they take reservations? Should we worry about it for a group of eight?

Has there been a recent change in ownership or management?

I contacted the owner about 2 years ago explaining, I had enjoyed the restaurant many times and brought groups... However I noticed the business rating with Yelp had taken quite a dip. I explained I would like to bring a group and wanted to know if…

Servers are friendly but a little less punctual than I'd expect for a surf-and-turf style restaurant. Apps were very good, balanced, delicious and paired well w/ the meal. Portions were decent. I ordered the Thai Noodle Wagyu sirloin salad & my steak was very tough & gristly plus a little too rare than I liked so I shared a few of those pieces with my wife. She also agreed gristly which is a big no-no for her too. My wife had the salmon over rice & broccolini which she paid extra bc she's not a fan of cooked spinach. Her plate was very hot which kept her salmon warm to eat which was a huge plus. She definitely needed the steak knife to cut the broccolini. She was much happier with her dish more so than I was with my dish. But she felt her salmon wasn't too memorable taste wise. Our server was great & the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. We sat in a booth in the back of the restaurant. I doubt if we would return though.

Absolutely Outstanding -- One of the Best Steakhouses I've Been To!…read more I have eaten at a lot of great steakhouses over the years, and I don't say this lightly: Sutter Street Steakhouse in Folsom is easily one of the better steakhouses I've experienced. I had the ribeye with a lobster tail, baked potato, and mushrooms, and the entire meal was absolutely incredible. The ribeye was tender, juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The lobster tail was excellent, the mushrooms were a perfect complement to the steak, and everything was prepared beautifully. What impressed me just as much as the food was the service. We didn't have reservations and ended up eating at the bar, but that turned out to be a great experience. Our bartender was amazing--attentive, professional, personable, and on top of everything. The service was truly second to none. I've eaten at many excellent steakhouses, and Cowboy Star in San Diego has long been one of my favorites. Sutter Street Steakhouse is right there with it. That is a huge compliment coming from me. For this level of food, service, and overall experience, I thought the price was very reasonable. It's certainly not an inexpensive dinner, but for the quality you receive, it is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend Sutter Street Steakhouse for an anniversary, birthday, date night, special occasion, or simply when you want an exceptional steak. One piece of advice: MAKE RESERVATIONS! We were fortunate to get seats at the bar, but this place gets busy--and after eating here, I completely understand why. Five stars without hesitation. Sutter Street Steakhouse has earned a place on my list of favorite steakhouses, and I will absolutely be back.

This was my first experience at a place like this! We enjoyed perfectly cooked calamari as an appetizer, served within minutes of ordering but later, we had a tender petite filet with cheddar potatoes from the special of the day and a delicious 9-ounce prosciutto-wrapped black cod. It came out cold, not warm! Otherwise, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The only major downside this evening was that after ordering, the wait for our main course took over an hour to reach our table. We even saw a few tables arrive after us, get served, eat, and leave before we did. We basically arrived and were seated by 5:30 pm. After ordering our food almost right away, it wasn't until around 7:00 pm that the main course arrived, so after dinner, we left around 8 pm. Yikes. Because of that, I'm not sure I would choose this place again because the service is unpredictable, especially with the higher-than-usual prices, or I'd visit on a Friday evening again unless we had plenty of time to kill. I think our waitress felt bad! She was really sweet, apologetic, and trying to smooth things over, though! Other than that, I would say, make reservations way ahead, as they send a helpful text to confirm you are still coming. Dress up a bit, too!

The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit.

Out of those items the ribeye was our favorite, the least favorite was the mac. I ordered a cocktail and they definitely do not skimp on the liquor. I definitely want to try more of the menu. I've heard the burger is delicious, and the brunch menu looks super appealing.
