After purchasing my new Acura from a different dealer, I was shopping for accessories (sunshade and mats). most dealers wouldn't budge on price, even the one I bought the car from. Thinking my only way save some money was to order online...until I called Keith. He was pleasant and patient over the phone with me and took the time to identify the specific accessories and working with me on a fair purchase price without having to buy online. This may not seem like a big deal or purchase, however it was the level of helpfulness that was unexpected. We have always had a great experience at Oakland Acura when getting our car serviced by Dean, our Service Advisor. Dean is the reason we have been loyal customers of Oakland Acura and why we decided to venture into their sales side. The service experience we have had with Dean was very similar on the Sales side - it was a no pressure environment and the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. I brought it in on 3/27 and they told me my online appointment wasn't valid - even though the shop was basically empty. Fine, whatever. What actually got me was the advice I got after they "inspected" it. The guy told me to drive 30 minutes on the freeway every day to charge the battery. On a brand new car. I did it anyway. Car didn't start the next day. Walked out with a nothing wrong invoice and no explanation. No follow up. Nothing. I've since taken this to Acura Client Relations directly and put them on notice. If it comes to it I'll be filing under California's lemon law - I'm already keeping a record of every incident. This location had a shot to fix a simple problem and chose not to. I was referred to David P. at Oakland Acura by my cousin who leased a vehicle with him. I always prefer word-of-mouth over going in cold with big purchases and transactions, so I proceeded. The sales guy was great. It went downhill from there. I drove out with a slightly used car and they failed to check the battery before I left the dealership. There have been massive problems since: 1. Phone, bluetooth connection is faulty 2. Radio stations switch at random while I'm driving 3. Can't get verbal directions and even the little map is pretty lame 4. Locks only work sometimes 4a. bells ringing randomly 5. Rear space in hatchback is lousy 6. Dashboard is too small 7. Temperature control fluctuates 8. You can hardly get connected to someone who can help and calls are not returned if I have the name of a specific person. In otherwords, you have to beg for service 9. It's a bumpy ride on city streets 10. The team is under 30 years old... maybe that's the problem? 11. Even station owner/manager is difficult to reach and when you do you get lots of questions and defensiveness 12. The sales floor is completely different from the service. What a surprise :( 13. Gas mileage is worst ever. Need to fill up at least 2x a week My next step is to go to corporate consider the lemon law and ask for a refund trade it in and let everyone in my network know to SKIP ACURA I owned an Acura 10 years ago and dealerships and service were fantastic wherever I went. I had such a pleasant experience at Oakland Acura - 10/10 I wanna start by giving Johnny a huge shoutout! He was very kind and professional from the moment we met all they way through to purchase day. Normally buying a car can feel stressful but Johnny made it a comfortable experience. It's refreshing to see a car dealership that is based on hospitality and taking care of their clients. I was looking for a used Acura Integra and after seeing a handleful of good prices on some vehicles I was skeptical of being taken advantage of. I looked at the reviews of all the dealerships and they all looked untrustyworthy except Oakland Acura so I decided to check out this one and I was glad I did. Being a hospitality professional myself (in restaurants at fine dining) I was really shocked to be taken care of as I would a guest in my profession. The staff here, David, Carlos, Ray took care of us on my first day and even on my return visit to install Permaplate, the other technicians and staff were all friendly and helpful. After some conversation I learned it's a family owned dealership with top to bottom hospitality as their core. The staff even gets holidays off (which is the busiest time for dealerships). I bought my car without negotiating (because they don't negotiate price) because the car was already $1500 under market value, and the process was incredibly smooth. The protection plan I purchased for my vehicle included windshield, body, wheel, and key protection with no deductible and full service. All around my experience here has been stellar and has changed my outlook on what car dealerships can and should be. Service Dept: I am so disappointed I have been coming to this service department ever since I purchased my Acura from Oakland Acura in 2018. For the first few years I have had wonderful service. The last 2 or 3 times that I have brought my car in - the person that helped me has been condescending and spoke to me like I was an idiot woman. Yes, I know what a timing belt is - yes I know how important it is to the car. No I am not going to change it at 56k miles. trying to bully me into changing my timing belt before necessary. Another employee noticed and apologized for the person. This has happened the last 2 times I bought my car in for regular service. i will decide when I am going to change my timing belt. Then yesterday I called to set up service and ask about a recall notice that I received and the person that I spoke to was so rude on the phone I was p*ssed. I simply asked how I could tell if there was an issue with my car and if the recall work was required. He replied "Is your check engine light on" I said no. He said " well you don't have a problem" Not the answering I was looking for, I don't want it to get to a point where my check engine light goes on I was trying to be preventative. I tried to ask more questions and the only answer I got is "Is your check engine light on" - Not helpful. I was really trying to hang in there with Oakland because I have had such good service but since it has continued - I have decided that I will take my business to Acura Pleasanton. read more

I have brought in my Acura before and my previous experiences were okay. I get nervous each time because once, a service rep told me I may only receive a ride one way which meant I had to figure out how to return to pick up my car on my own. And this was after I was told when making the appointment I would receive a loaner. According to him, no loaner and only one ride either back home or to pick up but not both. Then after agreeing to a ride home and figuring out how to get back to dealership to pick up my car, he informs me I live beyond the 6 miles radius they will provide rides for. Luckily I was saved by a different service tech who called me an Uber home. I did have to arrange my own way back to pick up my car though. Today, I was helped by Jason. JT is the man! He not only provided me with an Uber both ways, but he greeted me with a smile, was super personable, and just a wonderful service tech to do business with. Stephen super fast and efficient. 60-90 min to replacement one tire and oil changed. So HAPPY! It can be intimidating for a woman to deal with car issues. Every time you walk into auto shop, you're most likely going to be surround by men. They often assume you don't know anything about cars. The price I was quoted reasonable. I really appreciate their honestly. 5 stars for all service staffs. They deserve! Especially a gentleman who helped me. I didn't get his name. I came back on Monday morning for another minor issue which wasn't their fault and took care and didn't charge me for anything. Really good customer service!
