I've been to this store several times over the years, and I've never really had anything bad to say about them. The staff seems helpful and knowledgeable. They have always greeted me when I came in, and they seem to try to judge whether I want their help, or to be left alone to browse. Recently my wife and I bought her some shades here. The person that helped us was very patient, and at the risk of being redundant, helpful. The model that she wanted was the last one, so she got the display. The employee and myself both looked it over for scratches and found none, so we bought them and were happy. However, after wearing them for a short time, my wife noticed that one of the arms was bent differently than the other one, causing the shades to sit asymmetricially on her head. I cleaned and re boxed them, and a few days later I called to see if they had gotten more in stock. They had, so they held a pair for me. I went in and exchanged them with no issues. The person who had helped me the first time saw me (and recognized me :) ), and the person that nice was just as helpful. I don't have a single complaint about the service that I received here. I noticed that several people complained about the prices, suggesting that you buy online to save money. Keep in mind that this IS a Manufacturer run store. They WILL charge MSRP. As well as state tax, as required by law. At least you will have the backing of the 1 year warranty (not so with some online stores), and an easy return policy. Not to mention the chance to try different styles and lens types. read more

Christmas is coming up, so I got my gift shopping started. April assisted me and she was very friendly and open to all my questions. I was very happy with her customer service she provided because she was so approachable. April was also understanding and patient despite that I had my niece along with me who wouldn't stop talking to me, haha. I appreciated her help a lot. However, once I got home, I felt the need to call back the store about the return policy. When I had asked April about the return policy, she had stated that "For returns, you could bring in the receipt no matter how many days had passed." I was very surprised at that only because that is not your typical retail return policy. On top of that, the receipt stated "90 days." Being that this is a Christmas gift, I felt the need to clear this slight miscommunication. So I had call back and Kyle had assisted me. He very thorough with the return policy and helped me understand the details about what I had purchase. Kyle was also patient and friendly. Overall, I had a nice experience with Oakley. I appreciate and thank April and Kyle for their help. I definitely will be coming back for more Oakley goodies :) read more

Wow, impressed with customer service. They really cater to and welcome the local customers which seems to be rare when shopping at Ala Moana these days. Store personnel were really warm and greeting and didn't pressure you at all. They were just there to truly welcome you into their store. Maybe my new Holbrook shades have me a little enamored, but this place rocks. I was helped by a super friendly chick who was more than happy to swap out lenses to find me just the type of custom Oakley specs to meet my fancy. I'm sad that I bought my first pair (well, I didn't buy them....either pair actually....) from the major sunglass store around the island and that I didn't come here first. I tried on so many pairs at other places and just kept shrugging them off. For some reason, when I come into this store, I have my mind set to get a pair of nice, good quality sunglasses, so I'm determined to find a pair I like. This Christmas, I was lucky enough to get my custom Holbrook shades as a gift, since I asked for specifics. I have an Oakley family, so this store is such an essential and definitely a blessing when it's time to get someone a gift. Came in today to purchase a gift for a friend. The guy is a total Oakley fanatic, so it was really hard to figure out what to get him. Then in comes Kyle (a manager I believe), who lets us know that their return policy is a little gnarly - you have to fill out a form apparently. So he suggested a gift card. I realize that seems obvious, but we really appreciated Kyle's honesty in explaining the return policy. Anyway, we pay for the gift card and as we're walking out, my guy spots a pair of sunglasses and tries them on. Kyle sees us talking, and asks if we have questions. Yes - what is the difference between these and these? And WTF is the "Fallout Collection"? And why are non-polarized glasses $220?! Once again, Kyle's honesty wins the day. He explains the difference between the styles, and that the price point is high because it's a new collection. He points out that they have the exact same frames with polarized lenses that are cheaper in another display case. They just don't come in the post-Armageddon "Fallout Collection" colors. My dude had been wanting another pair of Oakleys after his Gascans got stolen a while ago, but he was waiting until he found frames he liked. We found them today and Kyle sealed the deal. He was a nice guy, honest, and not at all pushy. I asked how we could leave a customer service comment about him and he said Yelp! was the way to go. So, if corporate is reading this, please give Kyle a bonus. In sum, great experience today! All the staff were helpful. I've shopped in different Oakley stores on the continent, but this was the best customer service I've ever received at one. read more

Really good customer services. As we walked in we were immediately greeted. My boyfriend already knew what he needed which was new lenses for an older style glasses and just so happen the employee already knew what he needed when he held up his glasses. He told my boyfriend he had it in stock and immediately took the glasses to clean and offered him options. To trade? To get the new lens because it'll no longer be made? He gave him lessons on how to care for the glasses. It was a smooth process and he ended up getting the new lens and is super happy with his decision. Oakley glasses are such good quality and last forever if you take care of them. This employee was like this with every customer without sounding robotic which I appreciate very much coming from a strong retail background. You don't see a lot of good customer service these days but Oakley has it if you're looking for new Oakley gear! read more

Great visit tonight at Ala Moana store. I spent about an hour searching on the internet earlier in the day and eventually made it Yelp to see what they had to say about the stores in Honolulu. I live 45 minutes from the store, so in store shopping is big deal for me. Not satisfied with what I was finding online at Oakley, but ALL my favorite sunglasses have been Oakley and I needed a replacement pair for active watersports. Decided I would go in and find what I needed and finish the evening off with the Japanese food mall at Ala Moana. It was a good choice. Martin welcomed me as soon as I came in the door. I told him what I was looking for and showed him my old pair of Oakleys that are 6 years old (you can get 25% off if you turn in your old pair)...and we got right to work figuring out options. He built the pair of glasses I needed after we reviewed it on screen. I got the 25% off and he and Yaya helped me out very congenially at the front desk. We talked paddling and aloha, and off I went for Tempura Udon. Saved money, got exactly what I need and want and enjoyed the evening. read more

I am dumb but now smarter. I was looking for prescription glasses (not sun glasses) for sporting activities. No thanks nor disrespect to Rec Specs, but I wanted something with a lower "profile." Oakley brand was the defacto choice suggested by all the optometrist shops I visited, and Oakley has an Asian fit option for certain frames. Sure enough, this Asian face needs an Asian fit. I was about to make a purchase at a glasses dealer but was shocked at the price even after a 50% off discount. Dismayed, I went to the Oakley retail store for divination, and there I found it. Sunglass frames are everywhere in the store. A worker saw my bewilderment and came to help out. I asked about the Asian fit frames and he took me to them, right next to Oakley's own **prescription service center**. Say it with me - whaat??? Oakey has their own licensed optician working in-store in a pretty sizeable area near the back of the store. Mitchell was great - courteous, patient, and knowledgable. We went over the pros and cons of the various customizable options. Since we had the vast inventory of the store to use, he could show me all of the available frame colors in the Flak 2.0. Better yet, he said that if I didn't like my color choice, I could bring it back to the store for a different color frame. That took away any fear of making a bad choice (heck, maybe I shoulda chanced that wild carbon fiber printed frame after all). Anyways, in about 2 weeks, I'll be getting my custom order in. The best part is the price. Yes, my overall cost was still on the higher side with the options I picked but a similar setup was about 50% more at other places. So be smart. I hate shopping Bc I hate crowds, and I hate going to Ala Moana even more Bc even parking is annoying, but I had a 10 year old pair of Oakley's and my hair stylist told me they give you $ towards a new pair no matter how old they are. She was right! You can upgrade your Oakley's and receive 25% off your next pair, no matter how old they are! I'm the worst when it comes to sunglasses and eyeglasses. Nothing looks right on my tiny head. Well, the employees in the store were extremely patient with me and we eventually found a pair that didn't look horrible (I think). The other day I came in with my boyfriend to give input on a pair of reading glasses he was looking to get. He came in before but since I was elsewhere, he decided to wait till I could come with him. He was helped by Richard who was just a delight. He was very funny and helpful and very patient. Upon walking into the store, no one greeted us except for Richard.. and he was just coming out of their back room!! I had no idea he was the one that helped the bf previously but extra brownie points!! What's even better was that Richard remembered him as well! He knew what glasses to bring out and the color, extra bp! He even joked around saying that my boyfriend was just raving about how his gf is the light of his life and he can't buy it without my input and how wonderful I was. Funny guy hahaa!! I am glad that Oakley has a brick-and-mortar store in Ala Moana. I can go to the store to try on the different frames, see which ones are comfortable and which ones make me look like Fearless Fly (if you remember him, you're old...if you don't, go and meditate at the oracle of google). I have, in fact, purchased several pairs of sunglasses from this very store. So why the 2 stars, you ask. Well, sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip...must...get...out...of...the...70's... Anyway, I have this pair of sunglasses that I really like. I bought them about 20 months ago because the red iridium lenses are striking. But they aren't dark enough so I also bought a set of black iridium lenses at the same time. Fast forward 20 months. I noticed that the red lenses are bubbling at the bottom edge. Now as I mentioned, the red iridiums aren't very dark so I don't wear them very often. The black iridiums are in the frame probably about 80% of the time. The black iridiums...no bubbling. So I head back to Oakley to see what can be done. I talk to a sales guy and tell him what is happening. He looks at the lenses and says, "They're delaminating. That's what happens when it touches your cheek with all the oils and sweat." Okay, gross. He said, "All of the lenses do that. Usually after about a year." Wait, what?!?! Did he just say Oakley lenses only last a year?! But I keep them immaculately clean, I say. He says, "Well, that's probably why they've lasted more than a year. The only thing you can do is buy new lenses. But we don't have those lenses in stock so you'll have to buy a different one." Okay, my brain is clocking...clocking...that little circle is spinning...I'm trying to take in the fact that he's saying Oakley lenses only last a year...at 100 bucks a pair, not a good bargain for disposable lenses. He says, "The only thing you can do in the future is buy this hydrophobic spray for $20 and use it every time." So this is my fault for not cleaning and spraying them after each use? Are these lenses made out of butterfly wings? I recover and say, I think I'll try a different brand of replacement lenses then, and turn around and start walking away. He says to me as I'm leaving, "You can try, but this happens to all brands of lenses." Uh...yeah, that really happened. My niece was with me and she turned to me and said, "Is he serious?" Of course, what he said makes no sense. I have similar Oakley's way older and they are fine. In fact, this has not happened to ANY of my sunglasses before, Oakley or not. Not even my running glasses, which I sweat all over and just toss in my car. And as I said, I wear the black iridiums way more and they are still, uh, laminated. When in doubt, go corporate. I contacted Oakley directly and told them what the sales guy said. They replied, uh, no. That is not correct. They said all Oakley lenses come with a 2-year warranty. All I have to do is go online and file a claim. So I did just that (which is not so quick...you have to take and upload all these pictures). Within a day, they came back and said the lenses are defective and to send them back for "repair or replacement". So my beautiful red Oakleys are somewhere in Georgia being "repaired or replaced". I just hope the lenses can be replaced because even their website does not sell them (they only have the non-polarized ones, sadly). Did the sales guy mention the 2-year warranty and how to file a claim? Not...one...iridium-coated, polarized peep... Quite the opposite, in fact. He implied that Oakley lenses are so poorly made that I need to replace them every year. So either this guy needs massive amounts of training, or he deliberately misled me just to make a sale. Either way, be very very very (3 verys...you've been warned) careful of what the salespeople in this store tell you. If it sounds fishy, go directly to Oakley. So why 2 stars? I gave them 1 extra star just for being a brick-and-mortar store so I can be touchy-feely with the different styles. I'll go in to try things on, but I'll do my own research and when they ask me if I have any questions, I'll just say, no, thanks, I want information, not misinformation. read more

If they don't have it, no worries, it can be ordered online. It pays to research that particular item and then go to the store to see if it fits your face, just like shoes. PERSCRIPTION OAKLEYS FTW! I am seriously blind without my glasses and when mine were getting warn, I dropped by on my way to lenscrafters and am glad I did! Mitch is the registered optometrist I spoke too and yes, you heard me: This oakley store has a Dedicated Rx guy and fitting counter! Joe took my prescription from my doctor and said it would take 4 weeks to get the coveted Cross-Link switches. (not even available online! ) and only sold in O STORES! In 4 weeks, I had my pair and let me tell you, these guys (shout out to CAM the manager) honor and back there product. Had some issues with wear and tear and even broke the sides and they have honored the warranty and even replaced my sides for free! Great Staff and fantastic RX job on my favorite pair of glasses! They could take some lessons from the Kalakaua location. I know I am a tourist (even though I try to visit once per year) but at this store have never even been acknowledged. The last 3 times I have visited, I went to Oakley at Ala Moana while my wife shopped and in 3 visits not one staff even acknowledged I was there. They seem to have an unwritten rule, no local, no help. My close friend who visits 2-3 times per year couldn't even get help after 10 minutes of waiting at Ala Moana. Naldo is a great worker, I went into the Oakley store and upon entering he greeted and asked me what he could do to help. I ask if it would be possible to change the lenses on my sunglasses because the ones I had were all but up already. He ask me if I wanted to change the lens but get the same color it, polarized or non-polarized. After telling him what I wanted it took less than 5 minute to change my old lenses to new ones, I paid and was on my way, fast and great service. read more

Oakleys. I love them. Best sunglasses in my opinion. High Definition Optics for the win. This store. I hate it. I've been to other Oakley stores both on the island and the mainland and sorry to say but this one has the worst customer service of them all. Here's why. Do you know what a "kiosk" is? It is a touchscreen, similar to an ipad/android tablet that lets you search for items, surf the net, etc..You can see them at some hospitals, Hard Rock in Waikiki has a cool one, and you can also find them at Target for Baby Registries. Well this store has what LOOKS LIKE a kiosk. It has this enticing display to customize your own lenses. Wow! Really? Okay. So I start using what sure looks like a kiosk. It is 2012 and we are in the touchscreen age right? So, as I'm using the kiosk, one of the male workers says, "Can I help you?" Me: "Yeah, I want to make a pair of sunglasses" Dude: "Well, this is for STAFF ONLY". He said that in the most rude tone of voice you can imagine. Like I stole his bike or something. He then proceeds to point to this centimeter-high font label that is below a 36" inch flat panel kiosk. He doesn't ask me if he can help me after that he just walks away completely ignoring me. I own several pairs of oakleys. I'll probably buy several more. What I WON'T DO is ever shop at this location again. I'd buy "FOAKLEYS" from the vendors in the mall before I purchase anything to support that store. There is a review from a lady who mentioned using the kiosk. Looks like nothing has changed at this store. Oakley Ala Moana. You're horrible. Work on your attitude. You are probably missing out on thousands of dollars a day because of "dude". read more

Its seems like Oakley Staff don't like smiling much ...especially the Manager...kinda shady if you ask me... Sold me some glass but gave me the demo frame and did it right in front of me... at Least I seen him pull out a new lense because I almost said no way...I was suprise Managers do that...he probably would have some explanation but he sure didnt' explain anything to me... Went into the store on Friday just to browse around. We ended up being helped by Stephen and he is an amazing employee and salesman. My bf is kind of picky so we turned down a lot of the items that he showed us, but he was great and kept asking us questions and showing us multiple times. We ended up buy a few things and was very happy with what we chose. Poor customer service. I walk in with anticipation of spending at the minimum $150 and not one of the 5 salespeople including the manager greets or ask if I need assistance. I browsed around for 15 minutes and was never approached. Finally I had to search for someone to assist me with a price check on a pair of golf shoes. I walked out empty handed because the salesperson was not enthusiastic about making a sale when the store was slow at 1:00pm in the afternoon. The company need to hire mystery shoppers to evaluate the help they hire and put the sales staff on commission. That would make them more hungry to make a sale! read more

I used to go to Lenscrafters, but my Ray Ban did not last for more than 2 years, and obviously they don't have the best customer service. My old glasses broke and the paint start peeling off, so I went to Oakley. Michael is amazing, he was being very helpful and he is a super nice guy. His service was exceed my expectation. I have been here a few times. A couple times I have gone in with my friend Kyle had helped us but was rather touchy but helpful. But when I had gone in a couple times last week Kyle and a few of the male employees were huddled up in the front none of them greeted us but instead talked story amongst each other. When I had walked to the back of the store the two female workers one with purple hair and the other had glasses kindly greeted me and asked if I needed any assistance. I went to the Oakley store in lieu of buying a pair at another retailer because you can customize the glasses exactly how you want them, I was willing to pay the extra $30 for this option. I wanted to surprise my husband with a pair and after making my selection on the computer thing I printed it and a second later the manager of the store grabbed the slip out of my hand asking if I was gonna get it. Without waiting for me to answer he exclaimed "You shouldn't have done that! You just removed those items from my inventory, you shouldn't have done that! This is a tool that WE use to help YOU!" Embarrassed, I left the store and cried silently outside (mind you that I'm 5 months pregnant and super sensitive). Later, my husband called the store to confront the manager and he was in no way apologetic or sympathetic. He merely said that he was doing "this" for 32 years "brother" and that I shouldn't have printed out the slip of I wasn't gonna purchase the glasses. Bottom line: Brother, if you've been doing this for 32 years you should have a PhD in awesome customer service. It's a shame that I can't write this review without a star rating.
