It's sad to say but the food here is not as enjoyable anymore. We came here for a celebration and we were disappointed to say the least. We did learn that the management changed and they assured us that the recipes were still the same, but you can take it in their food that it is most definitely not. This use to be a go to place when trying to find something to eat without guessing if it was good or not, but we will not be coming back. They also raised their prices and the price doesn't match the flavor unfortunately.

Based on rave reviews, oh how I wanted to love Oakley Tavern as much as others do. First off, to call this restaurant a "tavern" is a bit of a stretch. It's an extremely bright white space with little to no ambiance. Rather, it's pretty sterile looking. The space is functional but don't expect a tavern if you go. Arrived on a Friday night and saw the place was packed. There were two large tables with at least 15 people at each which should have been a sign to come back another time. All the attention of the staff was focused on these two parties. It seemed chaotic at first-no one greeted us and it wasn't clear if you ordered at the counter, seat yourself or wait for a table. We waited a few minutes and then asked a server what to do. She said we could grab a table and she'd bring us menus. That took quite a while but once we got menus and someone to take our order, we settled in and took note that the servers, while harried, were quite nice. Menu is a mix of kabob plates, wraps, salads and wood fired pizzas. A veggie wrap would be a nice option but is not. Might be a nice menu add. I got a veggie pizza on cauliflower crust. Food took quite a while, which we expected on such a busy night but when it finally did arrive, mine came out wrong. They were very kind about it and went to correct it but the wait then doubled. My boyfriend really enjoyed his wrap and waffle fries, while I sat there completely hangry. When mine did arrive back correctly, I will say it was excellent. Nicely flavored sauce, crisp crust and generous on the veggies. We had lots of leftovers. Let's face it, there's not a ton of options out here in East County, so we're always looking to expand our list of go-to restaurants. I really wanted to love Oakley Tavern more. It was good, not great. I would like to come back on a less busy night and see if it's a better experience. People love this place, so maybe it was an off night....

This was our first time here and we decided to give them a try. We ordered three items to share. None of these were amazing. Pizza crust tasted like it was made of frozen dough. Very disappointing, considering Skips is down the street. The soup, seemed to be very popular with other patrons, I found to be very bland. It simply tasted as if something was missing. The wrap was better. It was fresh but did not have any Mediterranean glare to it. It was simply a broiled chicken wrap. Not likely we'll be returning.

Super cute place, very clean! Wonderful flavor in the vegetable house soup. It's loaded with chunks of potato and veggies.. Very nice staff as well. We enjoyed the Fish & Chips, the Chicken Tikka Kabob with side salad for lunch. The servings are large.

So glad we tried Oakley Tavern! We had the combo kabob wrap, the chopped cheese and the chicken tikka masala. They all came with fries. The service was good, drinks were refilled and food came out quick. The side salad my husband got was huge and the ranch tasted homemade. It's a really good mixture of Mediterranean and American food. You don't usually see a chopped cheese on the menu, so my hubby got it. It's basically a chopped up hamburger and they mix it with onions, he added mushrooms and bacon. My daughter raved about the chicken Tikka and my kabob wrap was delicious. So glad we came and we will be back for sure!

Definitely a hidden gem in Oakley. First, I wanna talk about how hospitable and amazing the owners are. They always take care of me and my family when we're over and they definitely do not skimp out on the portions. Their food is always prepared to my liking and I I can't really complain about anything. Recently, I ordered the chopped cheeseburger and I was able to substitute a couple of the ingredients without a problem. The pizza has a nice crunch to it and we always order more than one. The wings and the beer that they provided were just a perfect combination. They have beer on tap, along with some wine. The place is very clean and the bathrooms are checked on regularly. The location is a couple blocks down from City Hall, so please don't miss your chance to take your family to a great place to eat. With a lot of unique and familiar choices, they will always have a repeat customer here.

EXCELLENT customer service. We were visiting the Antioch area and our friends recommended this dog friendly spot. We sat outside under the shade by the door. The owner, without us even having to ask, brought an umbrella to our table. He went over the entire menu with us. Staff was friendly and attentive. My husband is picky but he was impressed with the Chopped Cheese Burger.

Once again they never let you down!!! I started eating the Ceaser Salad before I could get a picture! Hubby did the same with the house salad... a Laguanita and Spiked Lemonade to quench the hot day! Tried to order two pizzas last night, a 14" and a 12" specialty pizza. according to the menu 22.99 and 18.99. When the order was rung up the total was 63.00. We figured we had gotten our order wrong. When we asked, the cashier said that the menu online was out of date and that there was a take out surcharge. We cancelled our order and will never eat there again. It's one of the best Burger combo joints in Delta Bay! This and Falafel Corner. I've eaten here many times. Usually to go. The owners and service are exceptional! I get the Chicken Chapil with a regular beef patty added. The balance is amazing! I know their pizza would be fire. I wish they open 7 days a week. Or a few hours during Monday and Tuesday for sporting events. read more

This spot is open for outdoor dining! Prices were inexpensive, food was made fresh and fast, and customer service was great! Free refills on soft drinks it would have been a 5 star but as we were eating there was a bunch of flies hovering around us which got annoying but overall food was great and the service was great. The food is amazing! Their vegetable soup is so yummy and my daughters favorite is the chicken tika masala. Husband loves the chopped cheese and I really liked the pizza. But what really sets them apart is their TOP NOTCH SERVICE and AMBIANCE. My three year olds had a Netflix movie put on and for any family with young kids, knowing the restaurant encourages kids presence and tries to make it comfortable for you as a parent, is such a gift. Their service is incredible! They cleaned our table before we asked, they offer us soup while we waited, they walked over with cookies when we finished eating, and when they saw my Husband struggle with boxes, they walked over with a bag. The owner and employees are kind and service oriented. Give it a try! read more

Tables were spaced out approximately for Covid and social distancing. You order inside and then seat yourself outside. They have multiple servers to bring the food to your table and also to get you a refill or a to go box. The servers were all nice and helpful and talked to our kids too. The outside patio area is perfect to space everyone out. They have mainly pizza, kaboob's, and wings and burgers. See the menu photos in the other reviews. We will definitely return! read more

Oakley needs a good tavern so I wanted to love this place. It was just meh. The food was good. I had the kabob wrap and I enjoyed the flavors but the chicken was really dry. For a tavern the beer and wine selection were boring offerings found everywhere else. My biggest issues were with the atmosphere. The music was turned down so low that all I could hear was noise in the kitchen. The decor was generic and lifeless. I might try it again but I won't be rushing back. read more

Lots of outdoor seating. Counter service though brought to the table and wait staff checked for refills and cleared plates. Great service and surprisingly great food as well. Most places take a while to get their footing. This place is already rocking, both burger and kabob wrap was above expectations. Waffle fries were a surprise as well. Loved the outdoor seating, hope that sticks around post COVID. read more

Really nice people with great food. Last time I was there couldn't decide what I wanted so ordered two meals to try and boy was that a mistake. Someone needed to roll me out the door. But both dishes were very good but out of the two the Chapli Kabob was my favorite. I felt like I pulled up a chair at my grandmothers table. That home cooked flavor. Rice was perfectly cooked and the meat had such great flavor. read more

This was our first time here and it did not disappoint! Wow, the woman that took our order heard us say that it was our first time here, and sent the owner to walk I through the menu and explain the dishes. We were offered local wine and even a tasting! Great atmosphere, fresh and flavorful food with lots of options. Great for large families. Exceptional flavors and portion sizes. Beer, wine and margaritas. I was amazed at what a cleaned and welcoming environment that was provided by this restaurant in a small town, try the house soup, it's not like anything you've ever tried and the chicken curry is absolutely amazing! If you don't want to have Indian food don't worry they also have a wonderful selection of burgers, pizzas, and beer/ wine!!! Most nights the owner is there working, greeting tables, and running food which is absolutely amazing and shows his commitment to the business! Came in on Friday afternoon and shared a medium pizza. 8 slices was plenty for both of us. We ordered the supreme combo. It was delicious. Pro tip: if you're on main st there is a parking lot just before the Tavern. I missed it the first time. I like this place because of its offerings. They have something for everything. Amazing family owned business Coincidentally the owner is my friends Uncel and this man has always been humble and has had excellent customer service he's been in the food industry for awhile ... his name is Nahim and he always goes the extra mile for his guests at any of his establishments ! Highly recommend we came in with a party of at least 15 the food came out hot and fresh we got the Kebab and chicken combo my husband got the chopped cheese and everyone got a mixture of everything nobody had any complaint it was amazing .... Love it! Will definitely return didn't even know this place existed !!!!! read more

We walked in with no expectations, and was blown away. You can't tell by the outside or the name, but this is an authentic kebab house with wood fired pizza. It's a fusion of Middle Eastern and European cuisine. Turkish pizza, burgers, wraps,, chicken tikka masala, gyro fries, and did I mention Kebabs!!! They have a Full bar and they even have indoor and outdoor seating. This will be a top spot in the Brentwood and Oakley area as soon as word gets out about how great the food and service was. read more

I love this place. I started going when the opened in the pandemic. I go any where from once week to 3 times a week. We have family parties there all the time. The chicken is the best. Weather you get the kabob, or the crispy sandwich or even the tica masala, they are all great. read more

Everyone should support this local business! This is our new favorite spot in Oakley! The food is delicious, the service is outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable. We ordered: - Large Specialty Pizza 1/2 Tavern Special & 1/2 Hawaiian BBQ - Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings - Vegetarian Plate (Potato Curry with rice and a piece pita bread) - Combo Plate (chicken and steak kabobs) EVERYTHING was delicious!!! The kabob meats were very well marinated & not over cooked or dry, even the chicken was very juicy. The ambiance is very family-friendly & they even have a seating area outside that is pet-friendly. The Owner works as hard as his staff and is constantly making rounds to make sure his customers are taken care off. The best surprise is their freshly baked cookies that they hand out to their customers when they're done with their meals! Highly recommend this spot, it won't disappoint!!! read more

I finally decided to give Oakley Tavern a chance after hearing such great recommendations. I ordered a Chapli Kabob Burger with waffle fries and a coke as well as a Chopped Cheese Burger. I had just paid for a to go order, and as I was walking away, I was told they were out of the Beef for my Chapli Kabob Burger so I decided I wanted to try the Mushroom Swiss Burger instead. The Mushroom Swiss Burger was a couple dollars extra, but the staff was so nice they ended up accommodating it and also threw in a free chocolate mousse cake. Both burgers were full of flavor and delicious. The restaurant was very clean and quick. The staff provided excellent customer service. I'll definitely stop by again! read more

I ended up pretty torn between 2 and 3 stars, but since they're brand new and I got my order to go, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now. I tried the crispy chicken sandwich, loaded fries, and 6-piece bone-in wings. The crispy chicken sandwich was unfortunately the biggest letdown. The chicken was very dry, the toppings were cut unevenly, and it was packed in the same box as the loaded fries which made the bun soggy by the time I got home. It completely fell apart while eating it. I only had about a 7 minute drive, so it was disappointing how quickly it lost all structure. It also was not an actual chicken filet, just two chicken tenders on a bun, which made it even harder to eat since the tenders kept sliding out. You end up fighting the sandwich the whole time. I'd skip this one. The loaded fries were also not great. Since I ordered online through DoorDash, the sandwich combo didn't let me choose the fry type, so it came with the standard fries by default. They were soggy, bland, and honestly tasted like frozen fries. The chopped chicken on top was also very dry, which didn't help. The 6-piece bone-in wings were probably the best part of the meal. I got lemon pepper and the flavor itself was actually pretty solid. The wings were juicy, which was a nice surprise after how dry everything else was. My only complaint was that they were much greasier than expected. It seemed like they were tossed in some kind of buttery sauce instead of a more traditional dry lemon pepper seasoning, so they lost that crispy texture I usually want from lemon pepper wings. Still, the flavor was good. Minor personal complaint, but out of 6 wings I only got 1 flat, which was a little disappointing since I'm definitely a flats person. Overall, I really wanted this to be better. Maybe I just picked the wrong items, and maybe a different wing flavor or the boneless would be a better move. Since they're so new, I'm hoping they just need a little time to fine tune things and get more consistent. I'd be open to giving them another shot down the line, but after this first visit I'd definitely be a little more selective with what I order next time.

Management should address phone use during work hours, having appropriate conversations at work, and ensure all staff members contribute during busy periods.

Local residents Naim Zalmaiyar and Gail and Christian Knight have now joined forces for the business, which features upscale, pub-style cuisine, wine, champagne, a selection of over ten local beers on tap and a variety of other amenities. Zalmaiyar previously owned or operated a Mountain Mike's Pizza restaurant and four Subway sandwich shops, and the Knights have 20 years of real estate experience as members of the family business, Oakley's Morning Star Properties. This is my go-to spot on late nights after the kid's games. After their games the kids are hangry and tired. So, the fact that they know my kids and make them feel so welcome is great.
