I had a designer mechanical watch for which the watch crown was missing. Based on these reviews, it was taken to Oaks Jewelers. As the reviews are so good, there was a line inside so I had to wait to drop it off. The family was very nice though. They did not promise the watch could be fixed (if they would be able to place another crown on the very short stick without opening the watch and changing the stick as it was a very expensive designer's watch) but took it and were successful. It cost $25 which I am not sure is much or little but it is definitely less than servicing it at the designer's. And when I picked it up, I believe, there was no line. read more

After shopping around at different places both in stores and online for engagement rings, Melissa simply impressed me right from the start. I never felt pressured and I felt she sincerely wanted the best for me and my budget and sense of style. The best part about going here was the relationship that they already have with many jewelry suppliers. Melissa was able to get samples of several different kinds of diamonds and bands, even ones that I chose online, which would be impossible for any online shopper to do on his/her own. That way I was able to truly compare them in person and ensure the quality was up to my standards, and the prices were within my budget. It was the absolute best of both worlds, where I have the broad selection of the internet, but I also have the ability to see things in person. I know I was a very finicky customer and the process took a long time (months for me to choose just the perfect diamond and band), but Melissa always was happy to help, and always happy to order samples for whatever I needed. I even ordered some custom work on the engagement ring and wedding bands, and she took care of everything beautifully. A family owned business, you don't see much of that anymore. And this has to be one of the friendliest businesses I've shopped at. Well, until a while back anyway...They've always been so nice and helpful even for just a watch battery. But last time, I got into a small argument with the owner, maybe his father I'm not sure. He had replaced batteries in two watches but could only get one to work so he only charged me for one battery (even though he had used two). I just didn't think this was fair and insisted he charge me for two. Nope, he wasn't backing down at all so I finally gave up. I'll be back, nice place. read more

Oaks Jewelers were fantastic to my wife and I while we were shopping for our wedding rings. Neither of us knew what we were doing, and they wound up steering us toward exactly what we both wanted. We were shopping on a budget, and they were patient and helpful with both of us. The experience was so good that we recommended another couple we know to get their wedding rings there, which they did. In fact, my wife's rings were so impressive that last night, as she slept through my birthday dinner at an underground vegan food event in Oakland (a story for another day! blame the jetlag from our honeymoon), a woman next to her woke her up to tell her how beautiful the rings looked!
