The service and ambiance and general feel of the restaurant were amazing, but I was hoping that the food would've been a little better, the sautéed corn was over cooked and dry, and my chicken cordon blu was chewy and needed a bit more salt. What a GREAT restaurant! From the moment I stepped into this cozy and top-rated restaurant, I felt very important as a customer. The waiter Michael was attentive and very friendly. And Sly, the hostess, was quite hospitable. I thoroughly enjoyed the Alaskan salmon, which was very flaky and delicious. Then there were the roasted brussel sprouts - savory and crunchy. Horrible service. The musician they have playing is like a bad American Idol audition tape - loud and obnoxious, with torturing noises claiming to be singing. I'm not a fan of this place at all. And make sure you avoid the server Tyler at all costs. If he isn't fired yet by the time you visit since he certainly doesn't want to be there, Tyler is probably the worst server I've ever dealt with so make sure to avoid him. Dude is a total clown. The place is so poorly managed it's unreal. We arrive and there is a server (not Tyler but just another unprofessional and rude employee) yelling at the hostess for over seating her area - which might be true but no place for that in front of customers. Then the absolute clown Tyler comes by our table throwing the drink coasters at us like frisbees and quickly leaving without asking for our drinks. Then another 20 minutes passes without a single request for drinks from this muppet baby looking dude. So we decide to complain and then the biggest clown of them all - the manager comes out as we are getting up to leave. We had no interest in staying at that point given the horrible service, but even the manager was completely useless and unapologetic. We are certainly never coming back and will make sure everyone we know will never come to this terrible restaurant with horrible service and management. There are plenty of other awesome restaurants in the village - do yourself a favor, go somewhere else! read more

Love the ambience at this place. Such a beautiful spot in the heart of big Bear Village. Also the service is on point! Our host was so incredibly friendly. He was actually working on his birthday. We were there to celebrate a birthday too and he couldn't have been more accommodating. While the food did not blow my mind, you could really taste the quality of the ingredients. Took my family with two small children here twice already. I have no idea why this place is listed as 'not kid friendly'! So many of the staff stopped by to greet the kids. The food has been great both times. We are here for 5 more days and I plan to come at least once more. My kids liked the chicken kids meal, husband enjoyed the boneless wings and the ribs dinner. I enjoyed the Spinach Strawberry Avocado salad. Happy to have this place next door to where we are staying for the week! I would recommend for families, absolutely! read more

I'm so happy this beautiful building is being put to good use! My parents go here often since it opened and always told me how amazing the food and service is. I went last night with them and everything tasted so fresh and delicious! We finished all our food it was that delicious! Plus our server Katelyn was the BOMB! Since I'm on the keto diet she was able to point me in the right direction on some tasty keto friendly dishes. It is pricey but for the food its well worth it. We came to dinner after scrolling thru Yelp. This place looked great, great ambiance and food. We were first greeted by a lady with no smile, she did hold the door open for our group of 11 though. We were then told to go to the front desk to be seated. When we asked for a table of 11 we were rudely advised that their "big" table was already booked and basically to go eat somewhere else. I wanted this place to be great but I felt something was lacking. I'm not sure if it's the menu or the fact that everything on there made me want to eat it and gain 15 pounds! The cocktails were good and the happy hour is decent but not great only $1.00 off cocktails. We ate here twice during a weekend trip because they have the best calamari I've ever had. It's something to return for, which is why we did. The service was bad, borderline terrible, both times. We spent 2.5 hours there for dinner, not on our terms. We had an expecting mother whom they gave a hard time about making a virgin version of a signature cocktail and charged her the full cocktail price even without alcohol. Ordered takeout, the food was exactly as advertised. The only place in Big Bear that makes garlic bread that I enjoy instead of tossing into the trash. Mac & cheese with sausage was fantastic, the filet mignon was perfectly cooked, the lobster & butter were great, and the sliders and appetizers all fantastic as well. Didn't have room to try even a bite of the chicken that was ordered but it looked & smelled delicious as well. We went to Oakside for a semi-fancy dinner on a Friday night. The wait was about 30 minutes, but there are plenty of shops in the village to walk around a browse while you wait. We got some beers and they had a great variety on tap. The food was a bit hit or miss. the Buffalo Chicken Tater Tots were not warm all the way through and chicken was dry, the Fish and Chips was really great, except the first round of Brussel Sprouts were not cooked all the way. The manager was really great and got us new Brussel Sprouts and comped the tots. If you have room for dessert, the Blueberry Cobbler Cheesecake is absolutely delicious! All in all, a good place to eat. read more

The service in the upstairs bar was horrible. It took 25 min the get a drink. Ridiculous! The server had no sense of urgency and was super sticky sweet (fake)and made no apologies for the delays in getting drinks or food. Most of the time the servers were all in the corner chatting. I realize they are just starting out but they really need a floating manager to oversee operations if they want to provide good customer service. Get some better servers and I will give back and give it another try. read more

I just want to give the Oakside a good review right now because the last time I was there I lost my bag and I called them and they seemed to be really apathetic to my cause and I thought that was the end of it and I thought "Well, my bag's gone forever. It didn't have anything of value in. My meds to help an old lady not die too soon and some makeup. In the end I got really b***** about them not caring and it turned out not only did they go check it out but they went and got video footage and they got video footage of me walking out with this bag on my shoulder. So I stole my own bag from the oak ridge and then bitched about them losing it LOL. I'm a complete idiot and I want to say so publicly. And this probably won't be the first time I screw up something. No I have still not found the damn bag. But now we all know it's my fault!!! LOL In any case, I want to say that the management was very nice to follow through and at least give me a clue as to that the bag wasn't left there at their place. I really do like their Brussels they're just fantastic. And I think their salads are pretty fantastic too. And their hamburgers are incredible and we've been going to this place for over 5 years now. The food was amazing, but the staff made our day! We were welcomed in by owner Mike and found our way to their awesome patio with umbrellas, fire pit, great tunes and ambiance. Our servers Danny and Michael were on it and kept our drinks full and food coming... we enjoyed the cowboy bites, Caesar salads, sliders, and loaded tots. Our party of 4 enjoyed it all! Eric kept our table clean and water glasses full and was bonus to our experience... we absolutely loved him(and his red, white and blue;)! Thank you for making our day Oakside. Tried this place out since it looked like a nice place and is literally next to my timeshare.. anyways my experience here was not good at all. It started with the hostess who could just not get it right with us. We arrived and put ourselves on the wait list for 4. In the meantime we headed upstairs for a drink while we waited on our table. 30 mins later the pager goes off and we head down but turns out the hostess put us down for 2. So we are put back on the waiting list and head back up, however this time we were told that if we found a booth upstairs we can order food there and not have to wait on the table below which wait time was around an hour now. So 30 mins later we find a booth and we decide to cancel our table downstairs. When the server comes by and takes our drink order(20 mins later) she tells us on weekends they do not take menu orders. Of course at this point we are upset. Basically 2 run arounds all night and hour and a half later still cannot order. So we head down and all were told is "sorry thay was my mistake I can put you back on the wait list". I was heated at this point but luckily the manager i'm assuming says we can eat up there. If it wasn't because wait times everywhere would be long at that hour we would have left. So instead we ordered food and just went on with our night. The food was good not great, drinks were watered down, and our server did pretty good with us despite all the trouble downstairs. I highly doubt I'll come back and I definitely wouldn't recommend the place to anyone just for the fact that no one tried to correct the situation. read more

Came in on a busy Monday, all tables were taken. Quick to accommodate and cleaned a table that just left for us, looked like the manager personally did it. Our server was busy but gave us great service, very charming. Our dinner was delicious. I ordered the sea scallops w pea orzo. It was Perfectly done. My fiance had the ribeye and was as well cooked perfectly. My martinis were delicious, good quality as you can taste fresh juice and muddles fruit. My daughter had fun as well. My husband took me to Oakside for my birthday, and it was wonderful! From the ease of making the reservation on Yelp, to the courteous welcome and seating by the host, I can honestly say I had a fabulous birthday! As a vegetarian, I was pleased with the numerous offerings. I ordered the meatless chicken teriyaki bowl, along with a side of the homemade macaroni and cheese. My husband ordered the salmon and asked them to reduce the spicy-ness (I LOVE when you can have your food the way you want it!). We both loved our meals. I was so full that I had to take the mac and cheese home and eat it for breakfast the next morning (it was yummy!). The service was excellent, and I will definitely be dining there again. Absoulutly perfect! The service was wonderful, Tony and Elizabeth were amazing. Wonderful margaritas, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The bruschetta was a little different than what we were used to, but it was so tasty and the pesto sauce was great. The salad was crisp and cold, and we left very happy.
