Talk about a great place to visit when craving late night food! We went as a big group and were lucky enough to be served by Janet. She was so friendly and super helpful and since we were the only ones in that late she stuck around and had a few laughs with our group. The food was really good too. We ordered a range of food items, from breakfasts to sandwiches. All were prepared fast and were delicious, props to the chef who fed 8 hungry people. When in town, make sure to visit Benny's!

Yikes, this place ranks poorly on my diner list. We were craving brunch food and Benny's seems to be a popular choice. They seemed to suffered from being one of the few restaurants opened during Christmas because they were out of stock on many things. Luckily for us, they had what we wanted. Country Fried Steak Dinner with mashed potato and corn, and Pilly Cheesesteak Melt. The fried steak was mostly breading. The mashed potato was cold, I had to ask them to microwave it a bit. I'm also used to a little more gravy on my steak, so they happily charged me a dollar for extra gravy. The Philly Cheasteak Melt was dry and had no cheese to melt. We had to dip it in ranch to give it some flavor and cover up how dry it was. So overall, I'd avoid. There are many restaurants that can serve you nice brunch food, this is not that place.

Bennys gives me IHOP or Dennys vibes but not as well known. Went in and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our server was very friendly- he allowed us to choose which ever seat we wanted . He took our drink order instantly:-) I ordered the. French toast breakfast with sausage and cheesy eggs my husband ordered the pancake breakfast with bacon. The EGGS WERE DELICIOUS!!!!!! 10/10 everything else was very tasty -- one flaw .. my orange juice tasted nasty but sometimes that happens with certain brands of OJ. Would definitely come back to Bennys

After driving around on a busy Sunday with so many people at Big Bear, we decided on Bennys. There was a wait but it wasn't too long since it was just two of us. We had the iced coffee with cream and it was okay not sweet but nice. I had the country fried steak and my partner had the chilaquiles. I thought the portion of the chilaquiles was small but my partner said it was enough and he enjoyed them. I enjoyed my country fried steak with eggs. The flavor was good but the greatest but it satisfied me. It was busy so many families were there, we enjoyed our time, finished our breakfast and left. I'm not sure if they're usually busy or if it was just a busy weekend but the noise level wasn't too bad. A good diner for breakfast, lunch and dinner if in a jiffy

Wow this place is popular - it was pretty packed on a Saturday morning, had to wait a few minutes to be seated but once we were seated the waitress got us taken care of pretty quickly. This place is your perfect no frills breakfast/brunch spot. The menu is not super extensive but has just about everything you'd expect for a quick casual breakfast. The booths were comfortable and service was great! It would have been nice to see some daily specials or more unique menu items but I'd eat here again!

Debbie was fantastic! The food here is great. The coffee wasn't bad either. I didn't enjoy my first cup so Debbie offered to make another pot despite the first pot being fresh, but her loving kindness did the trick and the second cup was sublime. I had the Benny's French toast and it came decked out with berries, caramel sauce, granola crunchies and whipped cream. Delicious! I couldn't finish it all because the meal also came with hash browns, eggs the way you want, and 2 slices of bacon or 2 sausage links... which Debbie recommended I get one of each after witnessing my indecisiveness. Haha The restaurant has plenty of parking and inside is comfortable with plenty of booth seating and tables for large parties. This wonderful establishment has been around for OVER 30 years and the story behind it is one of Hollywood hero movies. I won't spoil it, BUT I WILL share that the owner worked 4 jobs to get the place up and running after the previous owner bailed on paying the franchise fees owed for the prior named place... which then got everyone fired the less than 2 weeks before Christmas. UGH!!!! In the end, the hero saves the restaurant! Ask Debbie to tell you the story when you go eat there and keep it open for another 30 plus years!!!!

On their Yelp page, dogs allowed but only if it's a service dog. Need to clarify so people know beforehand like we did.

So this is based on false information. We stopped by hoping to have breakfast this morning as the menu looked good and as it was stated on their pages that it's pet friendly. It's a little drive from the village but as it looked good, we didn't mind. Plenty of parking as they had a pretty big parking lot. From there, I did notice that there was no outdoor dining. Maybe they had a back patio of some sort. I walked in, there was no one at the counter when I arrived. Maybe 2 minute later a gentleman came out whom was very sweet. Thought I was needing a table for one. I asked if they were pet friendly and if they had outdoor seating. To which he replied no but and asked if it was a service dog. Mine isn't so basically pets weren't allowed unless it's a service animal. Not anywhere did it mentioned about service animals. It quoted pets welcome on their Yelp and goggle map search. So we left which was a sour taste as it was false information. So it's based on that. Can't report on food as we couldn't try it out. Maybe remove the pet information next time.

Benny's Family Restaurant not to be confused with Denny's although from what I read, the location used to be a Denny's and if you didn't know any better, it still looks like a Denny's with the exception of the wall decor and TVs. The menu is short and offers many of your breakfast needs. There was a bit of a wait on a Sunday morning, although for a party of 3, we were informed only 30minutes, compared to other locations in the area. There is a lot of staff working and all friendly. They were extremely buys and seemed like a private party in one of the areas. We were sat after getting a text message that our table was ready and, drinks were brought very quickly, as well as our food. We opt for the chicken and waffles with a side of bacon, a French toast menu and Benny's omelet. Our food arrived rather quickly. Unfortunately, my son didn't quite like the chicken breading, or the waffle but ate half of it. The waffle did have a specific flavored taste to it. My French toast was good, the hashbrowns were a little underdone, as i like them crispier, but overall, it was fine. My husband enjoyed his omelet and liked the chicken tenders. Service was great until it was time for the check, but another server ended up clearing our table and then we got our receipt. You do pay in the front. Which is why this is so similar to Denny's, so many similarities. Parking lot is small, so plan accordingly. I've seen many people get dropped off and some waiting a while for a spot.

We had country fried steak and biscuits and gravy.

We had the best server her name is Janet! She is sweet and attentive. The food was great and tasty. The ambiance is low key casual diner. Would highly recommend. Would definitely come back.

She talked to another patron that was inside finishing their meal and then she proceeded to lock another door and then I knocked on the window and she looked at me and said we're closed and I said it's not 6 o'clock yet and she looked at me and said "oh well now". There were a a handful of people waiting to be seated when we arrived and the couple before us were seated at the last outdoor patio table available. The hostess told us that we could go upstairs to the bar area and sit anywhere we wanted and a server would be with us directly. So that's what we did. As a side note, the whole vibe of the restaurant was very comfortable and the building itself is pretty remarkable. Water and menus were delivered within minutes of us selecting our table, and our waitress Victoria maintained that same level of attentiveness the whole time we were there. The biggest shortcoming of so many restaurants in and around Big Bear is the bar and their specialty drinks. But this place just slam dunked on every other restaurant we've ever tried over the years - and not just for the drinks. I love a good old fashioned but until last night, every place I'd been to served their old fashioned in a glass full of ice like I was getting a soda at a fast food drive through. Not here. A proper big block ice cube made the "Maple old fashioned" (hands down) the best drink I've ever had. (I think they've got like 7 or 8 different varieties of the old fashioned and I will definitely be back to try them.) Our potato skins appetizer was on another level and that was before our entrees even arrived. My beef dip sandwich was perfect as was wifey's chicken Scaloppini. The timing of food arriving and the periodic check-ins from our waitress was flawless. We spoke briefly with the bartender, Doug (who may or may not have been one of the owners) to express how much we enjoyed our drinks and dinner. The hallmark of a well-run restaurant is that everyone who works there conducts themselves like it's their name on the sign out front. That's exactly what we got from everyone involved. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen staff deserves a Michelin star rating. The rest of the staff is equally impressive. I can't say enough about this place. Excellent drinks, excellent food and dynamite service. If you want a top-notch dining experience in Big Bear, this should be your first and only choice. From now on, it'll be mine.

Our "table is ready" text finally arrived 53 minutes after we joined the waitlist. If the real wait is an hour, just say an hour. At least then we could have taken our dog for a hike, grabbed lunch somewhere else, and possibly returned in time for our table.

Then, while waiting for the check, I made the mistake of reading the one-star reviews. Now I *had* to leave one. Yes, the food isn't served at lightning speed. Ours wasn't either. And you know what? It was worth every minute. This is a small, family-run restaurant--not a corporate chain with an army of cooks hidden behind swinging kitchen doors. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, tasted homemade, and arrived hot and fresh. The staff was warm, welcoming, and working incredibly hard. As a bonus, they're genuinely dog-friendly. We were able to enjoy breakfast with our pup on the patio, and they even have a dog menu. That's not just "dogs allowed"--that's a business that goes the extra mile. Somewhere along the way we've confused "not instant" with "bad service." We expect fresh, made-to-order food from small businesses to appear with fast-food timing, then punish them when it doesn't. Patience has become a lost art. If you're in a hurry, there are plenty of drive-thrus. If you want an outstanding breakfast, friendly people, a place that welcomes your dog as warmly as it welcomes you, and food that's worth waiting for, Broadway Cafe is absolutely deserving of its reputation. Perhaps unorganized in the kitchen or slow in production. This isn't merely just waiting but the fact that your own staff told us different wait times. We did wait. We waited according to your instructions and schedule. We were told many different wait times every time we followed up and asked. The time kept getting longer and longer when there were no other parties waiting but us. First we were told 30mins, then literally minutes later it changed. Then an additional 20mins added. Then, 30. Then we waited, and it changed again. They kept telling us it would be longer and longer. Why would the time go backwards? A small gilled cheese sandwich for an hour? One order. You can ask any business owner or any place outside of your small town that it is a ridiculous wait time for a customer to wait for that long for one small sandwich. Instead of arguing back with your customers, a decent thing to do would have been to apologize and just have accommodated the sandwich just for having us almost an hour of waiting without even getting in. A true business owner wouldn't have responded in how you did. Not only horrible service, but bad ownership practices so I see where it reflects poorly.
