I had a sweater dress that I believe was shrunk and when I asked them about it they said they carefully measure everything in advance. However, when I asked for the measurements they refused to provide me with them unless I bring the item back in, which makes it clear they will ensure the measurements of the garment currently match what they are going to say is on file. They were not understanding of the fact that I do not want to take a trip out to them unless I can measure the item in advance and see if it did indeed shrink from what I have on file. The prices are very expensive. When I walked in, it was an odd experience. It was like I was supposed to feel honored that I was having my coat dry cleaned in their establishment. When I picked up my coat and paid my $45 (robbery if you ask me). I informed the worker that it was too much $ for my coat to be cleaned. I've only ever paid $12 to have the same coat cleaned, organic non toxic cleaning and amazing customer service. She replied in a snarky voice " we are a five-star" cleaning service. The establishment does not scream " 5 star". I will never return, a total rip-off. read more

Stopped in as a first time customer today with a bag of maybe 5-6 pieces. The woman at the front was rude about the time frame needed but I still wanted to try out this cleaner given that it's in our neighborhood. She then asked the lady behind me if she was dropping off and started helping her instead. If you plan on using this place, be prepared for interesting service or if you're smart you'll take it to a business that would like new customers. If you're the owner of this place, maybe discuss customer etiquette with your employees. read more

The prices are exorbitant! They lost several of my Husbands shirts. Finally found 2 of the 3 shirts 49 days later. The last shirt they offered to replace. The replacement came in and it was not even close to the original. 5 weeks later they found the shirt. When my Husband picked up the shirt they had the audacity to charge us for the cleaning that was supposed to be complementary due to the almost 3 months of waiting. Customer service is lacking. I never worry about that chemical smell and my sweaters seem to last longer and smell fresher and look better with their products. I took my wedding dress to Oakwood Cleaners to be cleaned and preserved. They did a wonderful job on the dress. They were able to get a large red wine stain out and completely clean the hem. They also showed me exactly how to care for the dress after preservation. It looks beautiful. The only problem I had was with communication. I brought my dress in on August 22 and was told it would be cleaned and preserved by March 15. I made what I thought was a down payment on the dress. It turns out they charged me fully. Due to a snowstorm in Nashville the dress was not ready until April 1. When I came to pick it up, they were unaware that I had wanted the dress preserved. They charged another $130 for the preservation, even though according to documentation I had already requested this service when I initially brought the dress in. Luckily the preservation was ready in one week and there was no confusion when I picked it up for the last time. I would recommend Oakwood Cleaners for the cleaning and preservation. However, I would not recommend them for their business style. read more

I haven't been here, actually, but I just called to try to set up an appointment for my wedding dress alterations, and they said I had to set up an appointment several months in advance (wedding is 1.5 months away which was not early enough, I guess) of the wedding, with a minimum of 3 appointments for fittings. From there the cost is $65/hour, with average total cost of $400. WOAH. I cannot believe this is typical and I just wanted other brides to be aware of this. read more

I needed a dry cleaner that was a) close to my house but not mired in Green Hills traffic and b) could take care of a couple of my most prized items. I read the reviews here and figured, hey, if they can satisfy people getting WEDDING DRESSES cleaned then they surely can do a good job on my red and also my black crushed velvet coats. These coats have not been cleaned in a WHILE let's just say. Not to mention that one had a hole in the seam and the other had a button that needed reaffixing. They fixed the minor things as well as making them look shiny and new again. It may not be the least expensive place but they will take care of your items that you care a lot about and that's worth the extra bucks right there. After so many terrible experiences at dry cleaners, now when I move to a new city, I find the best dry cleaners and take as much of my stuff there as I can afford. I hand wash the rest and hope for the best. In Nashville, all the stars aligned, and I can take all my dry cleaning (which is not a lot) to the best dry cleaners. What happens at the best dry cleaners--Oakwood in this case? You can take delicate garments (even ones that are partly hand sewn), and they won't get refused or ruined. Textured fabrics will not be pressed into oblivion. Belts and buttons will not mysteriously disappear. If you take in clothes with stains, they will not be there when you get them back (unless they are impossible to get out). If you have a hole in a seam, or the hem is coming out, it will be fixed when you get your clothes back. If you accidentally give them machine washables, they will call you and ask what you want them to do with them. If your clothes smell when you take them in, they will not when you get them back (yes, that has happened to me). Crappily patched up holes will not appear on your garments. In fact, no holes will appear in your garments. This place is probably 25% the cost of the equivalent place in DC, which is awesome to me. Still, I'm sure it costs more than other area dry cleaners. They will show you the price list the first time you're there, so you're not surprised when you pick up your stuff. There are a few aspects that I don't love, but not enough to dock a star. First, if there is anything about your garment that they can't fix, it is noted on the item receipt (yes every single garment gets a separate document) and then there's a "defective" tag on the hanger. So if a shirt gets a little worn on the side I wear my bag, the document will say something like, unrepairable wear on left side. So, I just try not to feel bad about the apparently sorry state of my wardrobe and appreciate the information. Second, I tried the free pick-up/drop-off service, but it didn't work out. The great service I experience in the store did not extend to the pick-up/drop-off service. read more

They are great, what more can I say. Each item gets its own bag, high quality work, high quality hangers...they are good! My recommendation; don't use them for your everyday items as they are pricey. I am not saying they are not worth the price but if it is just a regular everyday shirt, slacks or dress you may want to consider another cleaners. I can't speak any higher of this company. I had a nightmare of an experience getting my wedding gown cleaned at another "green" company in Nashville back in 2015. I went to the other company first because they were "green" (I thought they didn't use harsh chemicals, etc) and because they were reasonably priced. When I picked up my gown, I immediately panicked. It was gray and no longer the beautiful white it once was. It looked like it had been dipped in dirty water (come to find out, it had!). And the stains at the bottom were exactly how they were when I dropped the gown off. After two months, the gown started developing yellow spots. I thought my $2500 wedding gown was ruined. That's until I went to Oakwood Cleaners! I was so hesitant because I didn't think anyone could fix it. However, upon talking with Pat, she immediately put me at ease. She is knowledgeable about wedding gowns (accurately estimated the price of mine, asked great questions regarding the material), knowledgeable about the cleaning process (educated me on what this other "green" company likely used on my dress and how the dress was machine cleaned), and was honest about expectations regarding their capabilities. She walked me through how they would treat my dress. They don't use harsh chemicals (while not flaunting this "green" name). They meticulously hand wash all layers paying close attention to stains and also vulnerable areas that may turn over the years. And they take their time (several weeks, which shows the amount of care they give your dress). When I picked up my gown, I was almost in tears. It was the beautiful white it once was, no yellow spots, and the stains on the bottom from my wedding day were gone. Mrs Pat took the time to show me how to care for it in the future, including how to pack it in a safe box with acid-free tissue paper while using gloves and how often I should take it out to check it. Other reviews may have dock them stars because they are pricey. But let me tell you from experience, you get what you pay for. Take them your delicate and sentimental items. Do not chance those to anyone else! Mrs Pat is amazing (I know I've mentioned knowledgeable but did I mention sweet, compassionate, and honest?)! And I wish I knew who actually cleaned my dress. i use Oakwood for all my clothes. I spend a TON of money on clothes and have several of my items ruined at other cleaners. The people at Oakwood not only know dry cleaning but the know the clothes. If they see a Robert Graham label or an Armani label, they know the garment how it was made and what needs to be done to clean it and not ruin the integrity of the garment. Their packaging is second to none. Every garment is packaged to make sure it looks like a million bucks when you wear it. I have tried other dry cleaners but never again. Alright - I get it. They have amazing service! The seamstress was fantastic; my pant hem looked perfect. The clothes came out very nicely, although they didn't tell me they didn't get a stain out completely. Instead, I just paid for it, took it home (assuming it was fixed, since there was no explanation at the store) and saw the faint hint of blue (bled from other shirt I tried to handwash) that they just couldn't get out completely. That's really my only gripe - and even then, I'll probably still wear the shirt, since it is such a minor hint of a stain now. Anyways, the people they are fantastic, and the service is A+, but really, I paid more for some of the dry cleaning than I did for some of the clothes I took in. Not that I don't appreciate a good dry cleaning place, but I'd expect the same service for half the price anywhere else. I'd probably save this kind of spending for a more important event, like a wedding dress or something! NOTE: If you have allergies, or any reactions to dry cleaning products, this place is perfect for you. They use all green products and no dyes, all hypo-allergenic. Absolutely terrible! I took a suit and two blouses in to be cleaned a few months ago. I dropped the garments off on a Monday and told the women working the desk that I had to have them back by Thursday because I had a med school interview in Memphis Friday morning, she assures me that it would not be a problem to have them done by then. Thursday afternoon, however, I received an automated call stating that the suit was ready but the blouses would not be done until the following Monday. I attempted to call the store numerous times but could not get anyone to answer the phone, so I drove over. When I arrived the same women was working the desk, as I inquired about my blouses, reminding her I needed them by that evening, she was very unapologetic and quite rude. I asked if I could just cancel the cleaning for the blouses and have them back, she informed me that they don't clean garments at there location, they send them to a site across town and that even if I drove over there they would not give them to me until the cleaning was complete. I told the women I was very upset, I needed to leave town for my interview and was now going to have to go to the store and try to find a new blouse to wear with my suit. Her response was "Well, there's not really anything we can do so I guess we'll just see you Monday when they're ready." Not having any more time to argue, I paid for the suit and left to frantically find a new blouse. When I finally got home Thursday evening and removed the suit from its garment bag, I was mortified, it was covered in dust and the lapel was ironed crooked! I repressed it myself the best I could and left for my interview. On Monday, when I finally picked the blouses up, they looked absolutely awful! They both have a ruffle collar that was pressed flat in some places and pressed out in others causing it to awkwardly flare in random spots, it makes no sense why someone would press it like that! Despite trying numerous times to fix the collars of the blouses, I have been unable to wear them since. I most definitely would not recommend Oakwood Cleaner to anyone and I take every chance I get to tell people how terrible my experience was. read more

I wasn't sure any of them would ever truly come out, but Pat assured us that they could clean the dress. They didn't return the dress until it was as good as new! I brought my couture wedding gown to Oakwood a few months after my wedding to be cleaned, have a small hole from the bustling repaired, and some bead work secured that had begun to come loose. I was quoted 2 months, my credit card put on file, and assured that it would be done. Today, the scheduled day for my pickup, I was very excited to get my gown back. Upon arriving at the Cool Springs location the girl behind the counter seemed confused that I was there to pick up a gown. She said they didn't have any gowns. I could see it from where I was standing, so she brought it up. I inspected the gown to find that NONE of the promised repairs were done. I was told the manager would call me the next day. After further thought, I returned and asked for my gown back so that I could have the repairs done elsewhere. Low and behold the manager was in. This manager then looked my order up in the computer while looking at the dress and said "There must have been 2 holes as it's marked in the computer as complete." There was only one hole and it wasn't touched. That makes me think the seamstress couldn't find the hole, or didn't want to do it and just marked it complete. Upon asking why the bead work wasn't repaired as promised I was told that bead work is $65/hour and that the girl who promised me that is no longer with them. My phone number is on file with them, and in 2 months they couldn't pick up a phone to tell me this. The manager who I spoke with, Rachel, was very patient and seemed understanding, but I am just not even remotely satisfied with any of the answers or solutions offered to me. In 2 months they couldn't repair a small hole or call me to remedy their employee's misquote. Edited to add: I've spoken with Rhonda who assures me this sort of situation never happens and won't happen again. I've opted to do the repairs on my gown myself. This review is for the woman they've hired to do alterations. Any positive reviews for alterations were based on a seamstress that no longer works for Oakwood Cleaners. They've hired an inexperienced, shoddy seamstress that is out of her league. Run, don't walk and most definitely do not leave any clothes requiring anything more than a basic, uncomplicated hem. Her work was horrendous, I had to argue to get $$ taken off my bill. I took my dress to another tailor who literally ripped out all of her work. I had my wedding gown altered here and was thoroughly impressed with the seamstress, DeNeal. It was a pretty difficult job since I purchased sample dresss that need to be reduced from a size 10 to size 2! DeNeal performed a small miracle on making this dress look like it was crafted just for me. She was patient in answering my questions and made it an enjoyable experience. I give 5 stars to DeNeal, but took one star off from Oakwood since it was a pretty expensive ticket. I guess it is all worth it for a perfect wedding dress! read more

Just say no -- even though cleaning turns out nice, they do not meet commitments as to when things will be due, in general not well run and expect a better business for a VERY VERY expensive process. Alterations at least a month after promised. Ruined buttons on a very expensive jacket, eventually fixed but it took A LONG TIME by which time the time had already passed when I needed to wear jacket. Went in to pick up stuff, asked if I owed anything, was told no, AND THEN THEY SENT ME A BILL. What? IF you need something by an important date, stay clear. read more

Horrible experience! 1) Ripped several custom made shirts of my husband's; 2) promised a prom dress would be cleaned by a certain date for my daughter's prom, and when I went to pick it up, they told me that it was "going to take longer than expected" - they had the dress for a month!; 3) they delivered 6 items to my house (we had the delivery service) that did not belong to me - I called to let them know and they said to leave them out for the delivery person - the clothes sat outside on my front porch for 4 days and no one came, despite me calling several times to let them know they were there; 2 weeks later they called me and asked if I had the items; 4) they lost a pair of custom made pants of my husband's. On top of all of this, they are the most expensive dry cleaner I have ever used - and in this circumstance, you DO NOT get what you pay for. read more
