Cool little vintage drive up looking restaurant. The peaks of the roof are pizza slices. Painted windows of food. Walk in, limited places to sit but didn't matter to us because we were picking up. Cool looking buff Italian guy greeted us, we paid for our 3 pies and were smooth sailing , good service. We got one plain, one pepperoni, and one guseuppe. We needed to try something different. The outer crust was crisp, under carriage had a nice charcoal flavor. The plain and pepperoni pies didn't flop but our guseuppe did. Price to pay for a more topping pizza. I'd say very good, we did choose to go here bc of a review we saw on another pizza joint saying the pizza down the road at Oakwood was better. They were right! New Jersey has some fantastic pizza and Oakwood's Point Pizza definitely has some great pizza, as well. The service here is friendly and engaging and the price point is good. In addition to their pizza, they also make an incredible Italian hot dog. If you are unfamiliar with an Italian hot dog, it is a staple of northern New Jersey originating in Newark, New Jersey and is hot dogs, fried potatoes, onions and peppers in pizza bread. It is truly amazing and showcases that Jersey really has the best hot dogs (sorry Chicago and New York). Oakwood's Point Pizza has a no-frills ambiance that makes it comfortable and fitting for a pizzeria. There is nothing fancy about pizza and is best eaten in humble surroundings. I was just in there and forced to listen to one of the employees, a 31-year-old, who made it very loud and clear that he was 31 years old, speaking about the issues "the majority of America" has with transgender people a la C. Kirk. I happened to be with one of my youth clients, so we quickly finished and left as we were both uncomfortable with the unprofessional and transphobic conversation happening right next to us. Please make sure when you spend your money, you have some idea where that money goes. Once you invested into any type of business by purchasing their products, you're potentially supporting their political beliefs. Also, the pizza is MEH. Try Bacoli in Lakewood. I heard about this place in a post from my friend Cheryl Pizzichillo. She mentioned the Newark style Italian Hot Dog. I'm always looking for a good one down here in Ocean County. Chomp was good but they're gone. Big Dogs Cafe is now in that spot but I won't pay $15 plus for a sandwich using tiny Sabretts. La Madre Maria serves one but uses even smaller Sabretts. Oakwood Pizza is about a 25-30 minute drive from me but I called ahead to make sure they would be serving an Italian Hot Dog and to confirm that it would be on pizza bread. Cheryl said in her post that it comes on pizza bread but I've found that a lot of pizzerias that serve an IHD alternate between pizza bread and sub rolls because unlike a place specializing in this sandwich, a pizzeria can't always determine demand. Many either run out when demand is high, forcing them to use the bread they make subs with, or have to throw out pizza bread when it gets old due to low demand. I learned that they had fresh pizza bread and used Best's hot dogs which I prefer to Sabrett. It makes a big difference to me. The better Italian Hot Dog joints like Jimmy Buffs, Tommy's, Big Blues, and Dickie Dees use Best's. So I left with high hopes. Oakwood's Point Pizza makes a great Italian Hot Dog. It is better than any I've had down here and in the same class as Buffs,Tommy's, and Big Blues. It's that good. The pizza bread is fresh and made in house. The dogs are Best's and fried perfectly. Although you can't see them, the peppers are soft like I prefer. And no one gives you more. There were a ton in there. The potatoes were in chunks and also plentiful. Delicious and hot. And a great value today considering inflation. Under $10 while everyone else is over, averaging between $11 and $15. A top notch Italian Hot Dog offering quality, quantity, and value. I placed an order for the delivery the next day, pre-paid with my credit card. The delivery was 25 minutes late, and they said it wasn't paid for. An epic fail on their part. When I called to inquire about The error the female employee was downright RUDE. I called the next day to speak to the manager, and the employee in the background was badmouthing me. We ordered dinner a few nights ago from Oakwood. I ordered a large plain pie and two Leonardos. For some reason, after ownership changed from Lenny's, I stopped going. The Leonardos were good, just not the same as the original Leo. The pizza was outstanding. read more

Carmelo & Giuseppe you ROCK! So, we're here here in town on vacay, asking the townies to recommend who makes the best pizza and then called in a delivery order of Grandma Pizza and a cheesesteak jr. OMG. Loved the square pizza with tender dough, whole milk mozzarella, pesto drizzle and just enough chunky tomatoes to make me happy. Nice balance of ingredients and cooked just right. And the cheesesteak was huge for the medium, 10" full of great flavor. No doubt we'll be customers as long as we visit this shore area. We look forward to trying other specialties from your menu! I loved the old Lenny's, but Pudgy's gave me indigaestion, so I was curious to see where it rates on the Point Pleasant Pizza Patheon now. Let notice be served, they are the new boss.
