Fries were perfect amount of crispy with a soft bite inside, not over salted or greasy - just perfection. Reuben was soooooo good for a diner, like I didn't have that high hopes for it but so glad it was better than expected. Soup was fresh and I'll likely be ordering the soup every time I come back. I got steak and eggs and my boyfriend got eggs, turkey bacon, and French fries! We were very pleased with the service. Our waitress was super quick and attentive. Very happy. Got delivery twice this week. Food got here still warm and within 30 minutes of my order. (They said delivery within an hour.) Deluxe cheese burger was a little under cooked for MW but still very good. Large portion of food. Great onion rings. Chocolate shake was delicious. They remembered all my special requests. I live two blocks away. I figured I would go here and give them a break. Local business and all. So, I was told 35 minute wait for a table. All older people but everyone looked happy and two people I spoke to while waiting said they are regulars. Please note, they didnt say the food was good, just that they are regular customers. So we got seated and ordered. Three orders came out but not my cousins. As we finished the food, we finally got the waitress to come over and ask what happened and where is the food. She tell us she only got three orders, not a fourth. We were livid. The food wasnt good at all. The service, terrible. Worse then that is we waited for a seat for so long for NOTHING. Shame on them! So, after about three weeks, my mom and I decided to go back here because it was early and not too many people here. We figured maybe it will be better because they could concentrate on us and we would get better food and service. NOT THE CASE AT ALL! Food was much worse. Overcooked and took forever. The staff seemed to forget us here. I ran out of soda about 30 minutes and asked three people for a refill. Finally, the bus boy (I think) brought one over. I felt like he spit in it! A total waste. My husband and I have been regulars of this small local diner for many years now. Oftentimes, it's a 5-star experience but once in a while it's a 3-star experience, thus my 4-star rating. I would say that overall, I recommend the Oasis Diner but you need to know a couple of small things that certainly can be irksome, sort of like a dysfunctional family...full of love and annoyances both at the same time! The really good: their prices are very reasonable, their menu is classic and complete, their service is pretty good, the staff and owners are very friendly, the portions are hugely generous, and most of their dishes are quite delicious. The annoying: they can be inconsistent with providing the things that are supposed to be served with your dish. For example, and my husband has tested this out...their hamburger deluxe has been served on numerous occasions without the requisite onion rings. What...no rings? When we ask, they dutifully bring them to our table, and they will even bring extra ones too, but who wants to have to ask? We think that sometimes they do this on purpose just to scrimp here and there on cost, but it's a very bad practice, if true. Another similar situation, although this is supposed to be a value-added, complimentary thing, is that sometimes they bring out the mini-muffins, and sometimes they don't, but if you ask, they bring them to you. My husband loves those muffins. If you are going to do this for your customers, be consistent. Don't get us used to something and then forget to follow through on it the next time. Recently, I ordered a California Wrap, one of their BEST offerings...so delicious indeed. However, it was served without the featured item, avocados, the thing that makes it a California Wrap! When I asked the waiter, he told me they didn't have any ripe avocados. Duh...tell me this BEFORE I order. Of course, in the end, they always try hard to make things right when they screw up, which is what makes them so endearing and such a local favorite. I recommend the following dishes: Oasis Omelette, Chicken Souvlaki Platter, California Wrap, Broiled Salmon, Pork Chops (ask for garlic sauce and they are extra tasty). I love it here! The owner and his children are really nice. Pete (the owner) always greets me with a handshake or a hug. Some of the wait staff are on point, some not so much. A rare experience. I diner (there are fewer and fewer) with good food (even more rare). Late night driving around and came to the diner. Had a roast beef panini that was excellent. Was training in the area for my job and happen to stumble upon this diner which seems to be a local favorite among the Brooklynites! I can see why, place was super clean, excellent friendly service by all the waitresses and a gracious owner that was on top of things overseeing everything during a busy school graduation week, we were fortunate off to get a good table and our food came out really quick, came here three days in a row and got the California chicken wrap which was very delicious with the honey mustard house dressing on the side, super tasty fries also!, The next day I got a Greek Panini which was equally as delicious! It really wasn't Panini bread but a flat toasted roll LOL but still very edible! The Greek dressing on the side was to die for! The third day I got just a BLT which was very yummy! Great crispy bacon! W Fresh tomatoes and lettuce, prices are very fair as well, each day they gave us complementary mini muffins which tasted like they just came out of the oven! What I love most about here isn't the food necessarily (though it is fairly tasty and affordable...there are a lot of great breakfast combos that will leave you stuffed and happy for under $10). There are also free mini muffins for every table, and the coffee is good. What's really nice is the sentiment of neighborliness that money cannot buy other establishments. Other restaurants try to evoke that priceless homey feeling through decor, but it's the real deal here. It's probably because Marine Park is one of those rare Brooklyn neighborhoods that isn't gentrified and most folks wouldn't go out of their way to come here. We chatted with the guys sitting at the counter who worked at a local butcher. Other folks were talking about the nice lady down the street who passed away. There are plenty of locals who are regulars and it's definitely a place that embraces that kind of culture. As a born and bred Brooklynite, it was comforting. I have been going to the Oasis Diner for a long time now (yes, I've been around for all the name changes too) and I have to admit, it's not until recently that I can say their food is better than your average diner. What really had me coming back was the service, and the Americana feeling that you get there. The food has always been good (specifically their wraps), but like I said, it was no different than what you could get anywhere else. However, they have really stepped up their game. Their burgers are always juicy and cooked exactly to order. The wraps are a generous size and equally as delicious as their burgers. And their dinner specials are insane, considering how much food you get for such a good price. Oh, and their triple decker sandwiches...to die for! I've tried a wide variety of things from the Oasis menu, but it wasn't until this past Sunday that I felt compelled to write a review. I have to say, if their steak and eggs was the last meal I ever ate, I would die a happy person. Never mind the perfectly seasoned home fries (which is always hard to come by, because they are either always too salty or not salty enough in other places), but the steak itself was out of this world. I don't know how to describe how perfectly well it was cooked...nice and dark on the outside and pink and juicy on the inside. It's the kind of stuff you see on TV. The flavor was subtle but so effective. It was probably seasoned with no more than salt and pepper, but it was bursting at the seams with yummy goodness. Finally! After weeks of looking, I have finally found a place along my bike route that knows how to make a good omelet and home fries without them being dry. Wait, let me back up a minute... For the past six weeks or so, my biking partner and I have been looking for a decent place to have breakfast as we are finishing the final leg of our long ride (usually 25 miles or so). We have been to three other places, all of which made tasteless omelets and dry home fries, accompanied by horrible service. This time we took a chance and selected the Oasis Diner and was pleasantly surprised. My friend had the Farmers Omelet and I had the Mediterranean Omelet (and added gyro meat, which I recommend). I chose french fries, which were tasty and crispy; my friend said the home fries were cooked to perfection (i.e. they had taste and were not dry). HOWEVER - to go with all this good food was our waitress Cathy, who was very kind and attentive, despite the fact that it was busy. She also brought me an extra plate of tasty muffins, and I am ashamed to say that I ate them all. I will be seeing Cathy and Oasis Diner again real soon. read more

Walked in here right after landing at JFK at about 8am on a Wednesday. Place wasn't too packed so my party of three was sat quickly. Our server was very nice and sweet. She quickly brought us coffee and OJ. I ordered the eggs with a side of corned beef hash. Others at my table ordered the simple two eggs and potatoes. Our food came out quickly but I wasn't a huge fan of the corned beef. I don't know if it was me, or if it was the food. My eggs were just fine and the potatoes were great too. My dad (who is a chef) said the corned beef was canned which is probably why it wasn't so great. I don't know for sure. A new extended seating area has been built which is really nice and helps out when the place gets crowded. The bathroom can be a little dirty around the afternoon lunch rush.
