I had not been here in years. Decided to stop here to pick up food to take to the hospital for my family. Everything was great! Chicken wrap, chicken soup, BLT, all great. Both meals and service were pretty good. I love the environment and how homey and diner-ish it feels. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is slightly better than what you would expect out of a typical diner. The pricing is cheap and the area it is located in attracts many in the neighborhood which is a good thing. We we're in Marine Park handling some family affairs and this was the closet diner to our hotel. My wife was here earlier in the summer and ranted and raved about how good it was. I was skeptical... We first went for breakfast and the service was friendly and kind and my bacon egg and cheese on a roll was great! I ordered a side of home fries but they forgot which was no biggie, my wife has plenty. Soon after the server realized it was missing and after apologizing, took it off the bill. Pretty good I'd say. Next visit was for lunch the next day. Again the service was excellent and the food came quickly. I ordered the gyro platter and let me tell you the portions are huuuge!! It tasted great and I couldn't finish it. Lunch was a success. We came again a couple days later for breakfast with a friend and I ordered the challah French toast. Again another winner and they kept the coffee cup full. We even had to wait for our friend for about 30 minutes but they never rushed us and let us stay as long as we liked. Another great experience. Our FOURTH trip in a week was our final meal. And although the kitchen was a little backed up the service was still great. I ordered a fish sandwich and it was twice as long as the roll. But someone at our table ordered a 16 oz steak and let me tell you...the steak didn't fit on the plate!! An enormous portion and we were all impressed. Maybe after expanding, Fivo a.k.a Oasis doesn't care. I ordered a veggie burger deluxe. I didn't want fries so I requested a side salad. I was told it will be $2.50 extra. I asked what comes in the salad and I was informed that it will be the same lettuce (soggy iceberg) and tomato (one slice on the burger) that was already on the plate and nothing more. WHAT!?!? No parking area here, and smaller and less crowded than the Floridian, which is down the street. However, the food is all better/higher quality, and the staff is all super nice. Our waitress was great (I felt like she could read my mind!) because since I've been laying off the dairy and have a strict diet she helped me order my lunch. I ordered the pastrami omelet and that was big and delicious. Coffee was good. No dairy-free options for milk, so I had it black. Service was good and we got our food in a timely fashion. This restaurant USE TO BE GREAT. Now it's crap and I blame the latest owners. I ordered 2 scrambled soft eggs platter and a large coffee. The darn thing came to 18 bucks. For that price I got a platter with runny eggs and grits. It was so runny I had to cook it. If I wanted to cook, I WOULDN'T HAVE ORDERED. Not wanting to deal with the back and forth, I decided not to call and complain. I simply won't order from them anymore. They have always been better at in restaurant service vs. delivery but now I feel they just decided to not care at all about how they treat people who orders for delivery but they had no problem adding a $2 surcharge. (I haven't even eaten yet and I am already recommending this place and writing a review!) It looks small from outside but there is tons of seating inside and it is bustling and clearly a local favorite with a dedicated following! (I grew up in Brooklyn and the feel in here is exactly what I remember from my many diner experiences in the borough - wonderful!) Service was stellar - my order was taken quickly and the waitstaff was happy to accommodate my request for only onion rings (no french fries) with my burger deluxe. Food arrived promptly and was delicious (onion rings were hot and exactly what I was craving). Great service from Theresa even though the place was packed from graduations and large tables she was waiting on she maintained her professionalism and had such a great personality. I ordered an egg white omelette with Swiss cheese and mushroom, it was amazing and so big I couldn't even finish it. I asked for well done home fries and that is exactly what I got along with 2 butterflied turkey sausages. My mom ordered a waffle which she enjoyed and scrambled eggs. We left full and happy. I had a Thanksgiving dinner, which was tasty, but the portion was too small. They did not give any coleslaw, pickle, or any salads on the table prior to the meal being served, which I found unusual.
