Boy, that was a big mistake as the speaker was right there and it was very difficult for me and my wife to carry any kind of conversation. That was mostly my fault and I should have asked to be seated a few tables back. But it was fine as the musician was great the whole night with his soothing voice and relaxing tunes. There were only 2 servers at the time so getting my drink refilled was a little slow. We ordered the fried enoki mushrooms. Not sure where they were going with this dish as enoki mushrooms don't really have any taste to them. Plus it's a little stringy. I thought it was a little oily. Not sure if the oil was hot enough when they fried this, but it was a bit greasy and since it didn't have any taste to it, the tartar sauce pretty much carried the dish. My ribeye, however, was great. It was cooked medium-rare with a lot of mashed potatoes. The peppercorn cream sauce was a nice touch and didn't overshadow the meat. The one thing I would suggest is that the ribeye was on the thin side, so it didn't get that char crispiness that you would be able to get on a thicker steak. Since I asked for it to be medium rare, getting the desired texture would not be possible. I would have liked to be thicker as the bite would be more substantial. I normally associate a thin cut to a cheap or budget steak. Flavor-wise and temp, it was perfect. There was so much mashed potatoes that I ended up leaving half of it on the plate. It's a garlic mash and really tasty. The Osso Buco was tender, fall off the bone. I did, however, find it to be a little too salty though. You also get a lot of Risotto. They do not skimp on portions here. Great find.

Some of the crispness was sacrificed for the sauce, but it was overall still pretty crispy. I loved that they used boneless chicken thigh. I was expecting bones or lots of breading but it actually had a perfect ratio. I wasn't much a fan of the mac salad. It was like a mix of mac and potato salad, but more like a potato salad. I'm not big on potato salad, so that makes sense. My friend's ahi katsu was alright in my opinion. The sauce that's on it was good and enjoyed all the flavors. The tuna was just a bit overcooked to my liking, but idk how else one would make a katsu without overlooking it too much. Maybe bread the fish and freeze it before frying? Idk man, I'm not a chef lol but the tuna would definitely be better if it was less cooked. OVERALL: Honestly, I would still come here again. I still enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty quick. Both items were both worth trying. All the flavors were there and the little things I didn't like were just personal preferences. Its a great place to pick up a lunch plate and enjoy it at the beach.

Don't waste your money. My husband and I were in Kauai on our honeymoon and we were given a gift certificate to Oasis as a wedding gift. The service was terrible from the moment we walked in the door. There was no hostess, so we had to wait for our waitress to pick up the phone and talk to someone for an eternity. Finally somebody noticed we were just standing there and came over to assist us. We were taken to our table (which is the only thing they did right, we asked for a good view when we made the reservation and we got one). So of course our waitress was the one who was too busy to help us. That continued throughout the evening. Their menu is unique and not similar to other restaurants we had visited on the island. So we had a few questions but she wouldn't even look us in the eye when talking to us. Her attention was elsewhere. She even walked away from us when we were trying to ask her a question. So no time for us, but she had plenty of time for the table next to us. She talked to them, loudly, about animal abuse, for an extended period of time. Talk about a mood buster. Our food took forever. They keep saying the chef this, they chef that. Don't be fooled. They make your food in a cook shack by the pool. The menu reads like a bad episode of Chopped. I ended up getting the burger and my husband the steak. Not what we thought we should get, but it sounded edible. I asked for my burger to be medium. I got well done. It was literally half the size of the bun. Tiny, overcooked, flavorless burger, on a giant bun. I've had better fries at McDonald's. My husband's steak was OK, but not worth $30. We had to hunt someone down twice to refill our water glasses. They weren't even busy. When the bill finally came it was $72 for 2 people, no alcohol (we don't drink, but the gift certificate explicitly states that it isn't good for alcohol). We had a certificate for $100. It was our last night and even if we had enjoyed the restaurant we wouldn't have been able to come back. So we asked if we could just leave the rest for gratuity. Way more than what she deserved, but what else were we going to do with it. She very rudely told no, we can't. I asked her why not, because it is not excluded on the gift certificate. She grabbed it out of my hand and went to talk to the manager. Eventually he came back and dropped the gift certificate on our table, he said you have $18 left, so now you have to come back for lunch, and walked off. We were so confused. $18 wasn't the correct balance nor was $10 the right tip for a $72 bill. The entire event took an hour and a half. Ridiculous. If you want a nice dinner in Kapa'a go to the Hukilau Lani 3 min away. Delicious and excellent service. read more

Lets just say the hostess was the highlight of the evening. Friendly, happy, and a warm greeting. She should look for a better paying job because she is worth every penny. Now to the rest of the story .. It was my wife's birthday and my wife is not big on the celebratory thing so I just looked up reviews for a simple, casual place on the ocean and put a request for special seating in the reservation. The hostess gave my wife a "happy birthday" greeting and seating us with a ocean view table. The hostess should run this restaurant as it would be a vast improvement to the leadership and other employees working there. The other nice part of the evening is we were given complimentary drinks by the bartender in recognition of her birthday. Nice touch and I suspect it was worked behind the scenes by our hostess because our waitress was completely disorganized because anything beyond looking for her pen and order taking pad would be too much multi taking. Emily explained the catch of the day and other details and we enjoyed our complimentary cocktails and then it went quickly down hill from there. - Our ordered round of cocktails didn't show up for 15 minutes. When they arrived, my mai tai was basically 80% melted ice because it was sitting so long and my wife martini was warm. - Appetizer fish carpaccio on bruschetta was over salted and overwhelmed with onion. Fish was not fresh and the over seasoning was most likely from lack of freshness. - Main dishes arrived and we had no utensils and had to wait for them while the cool ocean breeze cooled our swordfish and steak and sides down. - had a bread order that didn't show up until eating half way through our main dishes. - The local cut of steak was almost inedible with the amount of fat in it. The swordfish was good. - saw our waitress so infrequently, didn't bother to complain as we simply wanted to get out of there because it was just a complete circus of poor restaurant management (the manager was as disorganized as the server). - ended up tipping 20 bucks for a $120 bill. We normally tip 20% or more but just could not do it as we felt 100 of the 120 was a complete throw away. PLEASE give the whole $20 to the hostess. Please go here for the drinks and view only at the bar to guarantee a fresh drink and until the manager gets replaced and manages/trains the staff better - and stick with the grilled fish and hope it is fresh. Our experience was made even more memorable thanks to our super friendly and helpful server, Henry, whose warmth and attentiveness added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening. And let's not forget about the breathtaking view of the ocean, which provided the perfect backdrop to our meal, enhancing the overall ambiance of the restaurant. We initially planned to celebrate my sister's golden 30th birthday at 1Kitchen Hanalei Bay, but after experiencing the culinary delight at Oasis, we canceled that reservation without hesitation and can't wait to celebrate here instead. Holy moly! This place rocks! We were pretty blown away by the priciness at first (we somehow spent $185 in a blink!), but I have to say it really was worth it. I definitely got lost twice trying to find the restaurant, so it really felt like stumbling upon an oasis through the desert of hotel rooms and hallways. It really is a great ambiance there on the ocean, though, even though it was pouring out. The wait staff was very friendly and extremely attentive, though all the tables and bar seats were taken. They were almost too attentive with clearing our dishes as we abashedly were trying to covertly lick the plates without other diners noticing! That never happens to me, I always feel like I can never finish my food, but I guess with tapas style, that wouldnt happen due to small portions. We ordered the shrimp cakes (which we couldn't stop exclaiming to each other how amazing they were after EVERY SINGLE BITE), the chef's delightful twist on caprese salad, the tenderloin (omg so good), the lamb, and the falafel. We also had a pleasant conversation with the manager about the food and alcohol on the menu. He was more than happy to explain everything to us, and we were eager to hear it. I love how they have the "typical" beer, then when you read Goethe menu, you see the "atypical" beer. We both were like huh, how refreshing. This place is a pre-pandemic fave. I went in with a few friends, it was packed. I was a little worried that it was going to be a frantic evening with everyone running around. Every place seems to be billowing over with hungry, angry, Tourists. Thankfully we got a table outside so we could face the ocean and enjoy the view. The server was someone I hadn't seen there before Covid, she must be new, but she got to our table within the first five minutes, greeted us and took our drink order. She took a moment to explain they were very busy and it may take a little longer than usual, which I thought was nice. It makes such a difference. The drinks came and there it was...delicious. I've lived here for years, I don't drink Mai Tais...but here I do. Usually just one, because they're so dang good. We ordered a couple burgers and salads. Again, our server apologized that they were very busy and it may take a bit longer than usual. Honestly, I get it, they looked swamped. It made me really glad I wasn't in the restaurant business. We had a few more drinks and caught up. When everything came out, it looked good and it was just as delicious as I remembered it. I stayed at this resort and had a great time with my family. We decided to go to this restaurant for a few cocktails on the night we got there. It was a good experience although kind of pricey. I'm fine with expensive cocktails. The bartender named John if that is his real name? Made us delicious drinks. A few nights later my wife and brother wanted to go back for a few drinks. My wife was covering her drinks. The bill was 39.50 she handed John, if that even is his real name three 20s. She wanted change so she could leave him a tip. He then pulled some cash from his tip jar and gave her 8.00 in change instead of the 20.50 he owed her. My wife was a little buzzed and about to leave the last 8.00 as his tip not realizing that he stole 12.50 already. I put the 8.00 in her purse and we left. I visited Kauai for the first time in October and i wish I would have discovered Oasis sooner in my trip. We went for appetizers and cocktails just before dinner. When we got there they informed us that dinner reservations were totally booked how ever they offer at able for us to use for an hour before the reservation was scheduled. Totally nice. We ended up ordering some of the freshest red snapper crudo, truffle fries, and beautiful cocktails. Oh and my dad ended up ordering the happy hour steak special which was AMAZING! We were all blown away by the flavor, presentation, and views this place has to offer. I will definitely be back and would recommend this amazing beautiful setting in the town of Kapaa! read more

We chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary, and it surpassed our expectations. The soup was a delight, creamy and bursting with flavor. The pork chop was expertly cooked, complemented by the outstanding squash grating, beet cream, and vegetables. The Filet mignon melted in our mouths, accompanied by delicious mashed potatoes. The cocktails were perfectly balanced, and the wine pairings were impeccable. Special thanks to our server, Rian, and the manager, also named Rian, for their exceptional service. We had an excellent experience at the Oasis. After reading many reviews we thought we'd give it a try and were not disappointed. The food was excellent along with the view and environment. My wife and I both had fish we were familiar with but never prepared as good as this. Yes it is pricey, but not more than expected. Can't say enough good things about the customer service too. The host worked hard to find us a nice table and our waiter was very attentive, friendly and helpful. Not something we'd do every night, but a great place to celebrate. Oasis is by far the finest restaurant on the east side. The food is excellent (you must try the burger; it's the best on the island), most ingredients are locally grown/raised. Creative menu, unique cocktails, and you can't beat the location, on a beach, fresh breeze, pleasant ambience, and excellent service. If it's a bit chilly (around February), they'll give you a shawl. Had multiple interactions at several levels from management to bar tenders to bussers and each one had the same attitude-the customer is not important and as a staff they will "do what pleases them, not the customer". They promote happy hour but we we went tonight the staff was so rude and said everything is full and will be for the night. Why promote something so much if you can't accommodate people?!?! My sister wanted to go back and try again but after the staff was rude I won't go back ever!! They should really rethink the "happy hour". read more

Went for drinks ended up with a smart-a$$ punk kid of a "manager" who's daddy probably owned the place being very rude to me and my wife along with other family members for wanting to change out a chair! Jo our server was amazing! She knows the menu in and out and would come and check in very often! The portions are a little small for the happy hour and early menus, but most was delicious. Fresh fish is the way to go! Beautiful view, live music and wonderful location. We would go back! read more

We had an amazing time, the manager was funny and accommodating! We came in 2 hours before our reservation, they sat us within 10 mins. The manager is soo handsome, he's kinda hard to look at for too long. We will be back and I hope he always touches our table. read more

Hukilau mixed grill ($49): 7/10, the sauce was delicious and trying the various fish was fun. Fish were cooked well and not too dry. The one on the far right was my favorite. Nairabi ($48): 6/10, the crust was excellent but I did not like the pumpkin curry sauce. The marlin actually tasted better when I mixed it with the sauce of the mixed grill. They are farther down the road, about 15 minutes from Hanalei Bay, and while you have to cross more than a few one-way bridges, it's totally worth it. Gaia has an incredible location with beautiful ocean views. The staff was very welcoming to us. And there was plenty of parking. I think the decor is beautiful as well, lots of wood paneling and beautiful hand painted murals. A part of me wants this to be a secret spot forever, but they're so amazing, I want everyone to support them as well. They're definitely worth the drive!

Anyway, I was hoping for a sunset dinner with my wife but no direct view in early June of the sunset. Couldn't get through on the website to check on reservations, but they got us in quick. In front of the stage with live music (note: my experience in Kauai is that live music is played too loud, but I'm used to yelling to talk at this point.) No menus were available initially, but one came for us to share. I will say staff are eager to please. We were strayed reasonably quick and wait staff offered many suggestions. All drinks are Mocktails and other drinks, we ordered iced tea and lemonade. Placed food order and went out back to check out the patio area and "future" bar area. Drinks turned out to be "organic" canned drinks, (later we learned no refills). It took about 18 minutes for my Huli Chicken to arrive, we shared and took our time. Took another 18 minutes for next order to arrive and last of order soon after. Service, well we never saw staff again until we were long done with food. Only one time did we get a water refill. When plates were cleared, we were quickly offered a dessert. We did say we were ready for the bill, but it was a wait before another staff came to check on us. This is when we found out no refills and canned drinks. They did offer drinks to go but we declined, paid and left...disappointed. Last note, they may be a little too dog friendly. I love dogs, however, I think there are FDA and state rules against non-service dogs in the indoor seating area. There was a little verbal scrap between two dogs beside us. Not my place, but there is a nice outdoor area that the dogs may like more. Anyway, I do think they have potential. The atmosphere is trendy and going for a little upscale. They just need to bump up service, also maybe some QR menus may help when the liquor license comes through. Good luck and keep trying to please! They are about four months into this and food was good and unique. Bacon pineapple was good, Huli Chicken was good. The coconut onion could use something more, like caramelizing first or IDK.
