    Shoyu ramen

We've been looking around for a good ramen place ever since moving from southern CA to Eugene last fall. Finally found one, and with great prices, especially for the portion sizes! It's a 25 minute drive for this ramen, but it's MUCH better than anything I've found in Eugene, so I'll willingly make the trek again (and again and again). The tonkotsu broth was a little thinner than I would normally expect, but the menu highlights that it's a pork and chicken broth (possibly to cut down on cost?). Still it was a fairly rich broth that got me most of the way there. The chashu, bamboo, marinated egg, and other toppings were well prepared and hit just right. The shoyu ramen was also really tasty, and tasted closer to what I expected than the tonkotsu broth did.

This place has great food with great customer service. Stopped by on our way to Washington State and we were very glad that we picked this restaurant. One of the best Ramen places I've ever been.

Comfort food at its best. Just a short walk down the street from me. Big city ramen in a small town.

Went with a group of six on a Sunday night. I found the ordering process kind of fun and pretty easy, but I see other reviewers found it difficult and time consuming. My vegetable broth ramen was very flavorful and creamy. More flavorful than the tonkatsu ramen. I enjoyed my $7 small size ramen but it wasn't as memorable as I hope it would be. The broth was just warm and the noodles very hot. The cha siu was good, but not great. Others in my party added mushrooms and garlic chips. I hope that more vegetables would be a default option in the ramen. My friend liked the donburi bowl, if was HUGE for $9. Hope to try the sukiyaki Sunday one day. I liked the long cafeteria style tables in the shop. It felt comfortable and casual. The waitress was friendly and helpful. All our food came out at the appropriate time together. In the end, you pay at the cash register after you're done eating. I am happy to see CG has a ramen shop and hope it improves to be a more memorable experience!

This is a real find. We live in Eugene and have been twice: and we will be back! We had the Tonkotsu ramen on both trips and also had the gyoza on our second visit. Absolutely fantastic. We have lived in many places with good ramen, but this is top notch. The broth just seems to get better with every bite. (Slurp?) Noodles have a nice texture. There's quite a nice selection on the menu board, and we want to come back to try more. Service is super friendly, consistent, and helpful. It's a modest place in a strip mall, but very comfortable. Nice mural on the wall. Fellow patrons have been in good spirits: they know they are in good hands. Wow! (Note: they are planning to move to a new location in Cottage Grove, so check before you head out.)

If you want unbelievably AMAZING ramen, this is your next STOP !!! Very kind and efficient service. Had vegetable broth, add extra noodles, ginger, sh*take mushrooms, and scallions. Wow!!! SUPER AWESOME FLAVORS!!! Run, don't walk

Amazing meal and great service. The boba was excellent too. Very quaint and located in the historic district of cottage grove.

Great place to grab lunch or dinner. Best Ramen in Cottage Grove. Dine in, takeout and on-line orders.

Walked in, stood there, looked around and wasn't sure if we take a seat, wait to be seated or order first. Turned out, it was the latter. Got the butter/corn miso ramen and the chicken karaage curry. They both came out looking amazing. The broth for the ramen was not boiling hot. In fact the pat of butter did not melt. It took a few minutes of me mixing it around to finally make it melt. The corn was not heated up either. It was room temperature. Overall, the corn and butter ramen taste wise was okay. The chashu needed to be marinated and cooked longer for it to be melt in your mouth. Mine was tough. The only thing that saved my dish was the noodles. They used the thicker wavy noodles, which I enjoyed. The chicken karaage curry came out steaming hot. Quite a contrast to the ramen temperature. The karaage was cooked crisp but needed a wee bit of seasoning. The curry itself had a good taste and it reminded us of a local mom and pop place in Kauai.

The giant pieces of fried meat on top of a bowl of noodles sounds good right? I ordered the King Ramen in this anticipation. Unfortunately the soup was bland, the ingredients didn't really work with each other. Meaning kimchi was on for the sake of being on, didn't really add to the flavor. Overall...meh.

Former ramenya chef here:…read more Ojisan may be the best ramen in Eugene. If you like firm noodles like me, they get it right. However, the ramen is TOO expensive! A bowl of ramen should NEVER be more than $10. Yes, I get it it's in Downtown and Eugene is hostile towards all businesses big & small so costs are high and violent drug addicts prowl the streets but still. Lower the price of a BOWL OF SHOYO from near $20. This Post Covid inflation needs to end. 4/5 for best Ramen in Eugene. 0/5 for the outrageous price point.

Overall, I would say that almost everything was really fantastic and we will definitely be back. We ordered three things to share. We got the shoyu ramen (added wakame), the mixed tempura, and the karaage chicken plate. The ramen came out first. The noodles were good, the egg is always a favorite, and we like the bamboo shoots. The broth was way too salty, though, which was the only thing that wasn't up to our standard for the evening and a bit disappointing since we were looking forward to the ramen. The tempura was really fun. We got the mixed plate and liked the variety of veggies that came with it. It also had two rather large shrimp so we were able to cut them and share. It came with two sauces: the traditional tentsuyu sauce and a spicy Mayo. Both were good. While waiting for the karaage, they came out to tell us that they accidentally started making a chicken katsu and gave it to us on the house while we waited for the dish we ordered. What a treat to be able to try another dish and it was delicious as well. It came with the traditional ketchup-based katsu sauce and teriyaki sauce. The chicken was very tender! We got the karaage plate last. It came with rice dusted with furikake, half a ajiamago egg, and a side of mac salad. The mac salad was pretty good overall. They added finely chopped green peppers to it, which aren't always my favorite, but it was still good. The karaage was also tender and came with teriyaki and spicy mayo. The interesting thing about this location is that they share the space with a bar. So there are two sets of staff and two tabs to pay at the end. Everyone was very attentive and helpful so it all worked out smoothly. We were able to get a beer from the bartender that came over to our table and took our order after we ordered our food. Seems like a setup that can work for them and hopefully they can help each other's businesses thrive.
