Was looking for a relatively inexpensive food place that was close to our hotel and I found this place on yelp, and I have to say that it definitely delivered. At first I was a little bit wary that it was in a mall food court, but it's legit. The service was great and they were able to accommodate some special orders. The dining is your typical Mall food court although there is plenty of seating so you should be able to find a spot and enjoy your food. Everything was tasty and it was really plentiful. I was impressed at all the different options and would easily come here again. They also have samples so you can try something before you potentially buy it. Side note, I was impressed at how jumping this mall was. These days a lot of malls are dead, so it was nice to see a mall that was packed like the early '90s! read more

I have been here several times... and am surprised I have not done a review. So here goes... The bbq pork baozi are delicious, and fresh. Past visits verify this. This visit, I ordered the fried chicken and rice plate, and an order of sesame balls. Fried chicken is yummy, tender and juicy. Rice is good, nice and sticky... easy to eat with chopsticks. The order includes a nice portion of pickled Daikon radish, and some made in house Kimchi... both of which are delicious. Very nice service over all... definitely a full meal. Sesame balls... smaller than I am used to, but very tasty. The red bean paste inside is yummy, although I think it needs a bit more paste than they have. Seems skimpy! But worth the price. I stopped by here yesterday with my husband. We were looking for something small to share before going shopping. We stopped to check this place out, and they had samples. Who doesn't like samples?! The employee working was super welcoming, kind, and helpful. He told us about all of the samples, and additional options. We had a type of fried chicken with homemade noodles. It was great to share with my husband. We both enjoyed it. This restaurant is in a mall food court, so there's no real ambiance, and cleanliness is out of their control. So I can't judge either. The food was amazing!!! I got the pork and beef bao buns, the fried and the steamed ones and they were to die for. You can't go wrong with either one honestly. If I HAD to pick one I would pick the beef. On a cold day I would have to recommend the egg drop soup. The broth was so flavorful and had a nice peppery taste. We got take-out from Bao-Ing-Out, and despite the drive home, the food was soooo good! The steamed pork buns were my favorite, followed by the beef dumplings. The dough on the golden fried vegetable buns was well executed, I just wasn't a fan of the vegetable filling. I loved the variety of sauces we got too. I was a bit disappointed to see rice instead of egg drop soup (maybe it's a take-out thing) but the rice was actually really well flavored! Did I mention the packaging was adorable?? There's nothing quite like walking aimlessly around a mall during the holiday season. After getting some good people watching in, and picking up another long sleeve shirt for the winter months, I found myself hungry and wandering toward the food court. I chose Bao-Ing-Out because I'd heard of it before and there wasn't much of a line. The man taking orders was kind and there was very little wait time in between ordering and getting my meal. There's not much you can do about the ambiance of a mall; you either like eating in the food court or you don't. Thankfully, Bao-Ing-Out provides a to-go option for those who'd rather enjoy their food at home, like me. I ordered the steamed curry chicken bao limited time special, which came with egg drop soup, and an order of their homemade veggie noodles, all to-go. The tantalizing smell of soup and curry tortured me all the way home. The steamed curry chicken bao was great and I hope they make it a regular menu item in the future. The curry taste was prominent and the bao were stuffed full of meat. I've had bao at other places that skimp out on filling, so I'm happy to report that Bao-Ing-Out gives you your money's worth. The veggie noodles were sadly underwhelming; the only vegetables were cabbage and green onions. So, while they do offer a vegetarian option, I would not call this place vegetarian "friendly." The noodles themselves were cooked perfectly and I could definitely tell they were made fresh, but I wish there were more veggies. The egg drop soup was actually the best I've ever had. It was so fresh and light and I honestly didn't know egg drop soup could taste like that, so major props! All-in-all, I would eat at Bao-Ing-Out again after another lazy afternoon of being an adult mall-rat, but I'll probably try something else on their menu next time. read more

Maybe not the fanciest eatery in town this excellent dumpling house located in the Valley River Mall food court is just about the best fast food restaurant in Eugene. Great choice if fried and steamed dumplings. Fine soup and fried rice too. Super fast service. And the ability to get a terrific lunch without frills for under $10. read more

I never thought there'd be a day where I was giving a 5-star review to a restaurant in the VRC food court...but here we are. Yes, Boaing Out I thought was that good, and I really don't give out too many 5* reviews. Their ordering is a little confusing at first but the friendly people at the counter will be more than happy to help. I really REALLY think this place needs a brick and mortar but until then I will be more than happy to revisit what was previously McDonalds when I was growing up. Anyway, they offer free samples. Take advantage of that, not just because they're free, but I wouldn't have ordered what I ordered had I not tasted it first. They also explain what it is and how they differ from other menu items. Highlights: Goldenfried Bao was awesome. I think we got ours with beef. Scallion pancake. Just get this. It's like a burrito but the tortilla is a scallion pancake. We got one with pork belly and one with chicken and I'd highly recommend the pork belly. Lastly, the fried chicken. Again, just get it. You won't have any regrets. Yum! I was pleasantly surprised by Bao-ing-Out. Not because the food doesn't look good or because of reviews, but because I ordered it from DoorDash and had no idea it was coming from the food court at the mall. And no offense to the mall food, it just wasn't what I would expect. It was so good, like should have been at a sit down restaurant type of good. I ordered a half size of the steamed bao and the chicken and noodles. The bag of stuff I received included those two items, plus two to-go coffee cups and multiple sauces. The coffee cups had the egg flower/drop soup (fairly bland) and the delicious sauce for the noodles. The service sizes were large, definitely just get half the bao unless you're sharing with more than 2 people. The bao were perfect, light bun with flavor and great meaty flavor inside. I didn't realize the chicken in the noodle dish was deep fried but that's ok (would have preferred grilled). But there is a lot in there and it was all good. I have been going to this mall my entire life. I worked there all through high school. I have 4 kids that have been going through their lives. Never have I been more impressed with a food court until this last year. It's so awesome to see it taken over by mostly local mom and pop type places and so many international options. Bao-ing Out is so fun and tasty. My son usually goes to the Mexican place (their food is also great) and I come here. He tried some of my food last time and will be ordering here next time. Tried this with my boyfriend yesterday, we just got the 8pc bao to share, comes with egg flower soup or rice for $15.95. Very affordable especially for how big the baos are. We got them steamed, they were very filling and pretty good. My boyfriend really enjoyed them, I liked them but I think I just prefer soup dumplings in general, maybe 1 day they will sell some too, since they are a bao and dumpling place. For a mall food court option this was pretty good! I wouldn't say they were the best baos in Eugene. But for an inexpensive and tasty vegetarian meal while shopping at Valley River, this place is a home run. For less than $10 you can get 3 Bao, a side, and a soup. That's a lot! The wait was pretty long though. I wonder if that was because I ordered them pan fried. The next time I find myself here I will order them just steamed and see if that would reduce the wait time. I get embarrassed when I go into a food place and they recognize me by how frequently I've ordered food from them. I've bypassed this with Bao-ing Out by ordering sometimes at the counter, but then ordering mostly from food delivery services so they can't see my face because the amount of food I eat from them is actually embarrassing. It's amazing to me that they're in a mall food court, and I'm happy that they're in the mall because my family and I go often but I'd really expect food of this caliber to be in a stand alone restaurant. My go-to order is a small order of pan-fried pork bao buns and three beef dumplings, also pan-fried. The small order of bao comes with egg drop soup (delicious). They also give you radish kimchi, not a huge fan of the texture but the taste is good. What's cool about Bao-Ing out is that a lot of times, they have samples on their counter which reminds me of Costco, so I like that as well! Don't skip out on this place, the counter is nice and clean, you can see them cooking the food on what looks to be traditional-ish cookware and they're happy to answer any questions you have! read more

First time trying. Spring rolls- filling was bland and was cooked to death. I think it was once cabbage and a few strands of carrot. Pork dumplings ordered pork and pan fry- received beef but they were pan fried. Half were without seasonings the other half were where all the seasonings ended up. Pork noodles there was pork but I received 3 half golf ball sized macerated noodles with some non- clumped and macerated noodles. Tastes bland bland so bland. How is it possible? including the egg drop soup was the blandest food I have ever had. There were 5 different sauces. The soy was watered down as was the chili oil. The mayo one is a completely a head scratcher! I had to raid my fridge to try and doctor this huge disappointed but... nothing to save this less than fresh disaster. This is a restaurant in the food court at Valley River Mall in Eugene, Oregon. The staff was so courteous and explained several of the menu options that were low calorie for my calorie range. They told me which options were vegetarian and which options were deep-fried and high calorie intake. They gave me a free sample to show me how delicious a bao pork dumpling is. I'm definitely taking my husband back for the vegetable rolls, fried pork dumpling and steamed pork dumplings for me. The prices were extremely affordable. The staff was nice and friendly and offered lots of help to me. You can actually purchase any item they sell for one dollar separately. That way you can try a little of everything and not be stuck with six pieces of something you do not like. I love this feature about this restaurant. I like a lot of variety and to try things out. Definitely if you're on the fence try the pork steamed dumpling if you're watching your weight, and if not, the fried pork dumpling, I hear is even better! The only reason the atmosphere got three stars out of five is because you are in a mall food court. It was loud & very, very busy due to the holiday season. A customer ahead of me ordered some hard boiled eggs that weren't on the menu and they looked soooooooo good. The customer said they used to be on the menu but not anymore but she could still order them. My only negative really was that it was hard to understand how to order. I personally found the menu, confusing, basically you order the bow or the Dumpling and there are three ways. Each of those are served. When you order those it comes with a cup of soup and it's about $10. I didn't want the soup, but it was in the bag. Great packaging and I would go back. read more

This is a vegetarian review: it's just okay. The filling in the bao buns is just all spinach. It's so much spinach that it was hard to eat a whole one. Pretty dry, I was hoping for more sauce (and to get the strong spinach taste outta my mouth). I wouldn't go back as a vegetarian, no good options. However, I really enjoyed the appeal of this place.
