Shasta roll with krab salad, shrimp and squid tempura, smoked salmon, scallops and avocado topped with masago. We both ate it and took 1/4 home! It was flavorful and delicious! If you're ever in the Roseburg area please try this Korean owned sushi restaurant! One star off for 45 min wait as there was a large group that ordered right before us. My sister and I were coming back down from Seattle and decided to stop by this place for a quick late lunch. They serve both Japanese and Korean dishes. The staff had a thick accent so it was hard to understand at times, but we made it work. Prices are a little on the higher side. I got their beef bbq which came out to $19.99. Not a bad portion size but it lacked flavor and it definitely didn't taste fresh. We also got one of their new items on the menu, which was tteokbokki, it was really good but portion was small! Don't let the exterior fool you... don't sleep on Ami! Adam our server, along with the rest of the wait staff were super friendly and hospitable. I've wanted to try this place forever but was never near here when they open at 5. Finally, trying it for lunch today. Their thing is huge rolls and nigiri. I've read you can ask for normal size-I would definitely do that. We had a salmon nigiri to start. It's always a litmus test for quality. The pieces were extremely large-3 bites for me. The flavor was really good. The chicken teriyaki bento boxes were good. There was a salad, California roll, gyoza, tempura, and rice. The salad was excellent, the California roll has real crab, tempura and gyoza were very good, too. The chicken teriyaki was not grilled and was ok. Service is excellent and ambiance is good. My family and I love Ami Japanese Restaurant. They have the best salmon sushi rolls in Roseburg!!! Their portions are generous and fresh. We also get their Tonkatsu ramen and it is delicious. My husband and I crave their salmon roll and we go about once a week to enjoy their good food. They also have a few Korean dishes on their menu which we thought was pretty good. I NEEDED SUUUUU-SHIIII!!!! Three months after my move to Glide, Oregon (a beautiful place boasting many characters, including now, me), I was feeling fit and feisty. And needing a sushi fix. I'd been doing a lot of cooking; it seemed only fair. Now, Roseburg doesn't have a lot of choices for the sushi fan. Glide, where I actually live, has none. This part of the state is more of a burger and steak reality, I've been discovering. So I was very happy to discover Ami Sushi and Korean Bar-be-cue in the cute little downtown area. I decided to give it a try. I hunted down the menu on-line (thank you to their web designer for recognizing that might be helpful), and phoned in my order. The woman who took my call was pleasant and professional. "20 minutes", they told me. Which is almost as long as it takes to drive into Roseburg from my riverside habitat. But I wanted sushi. It was late afternoon, clear skies. I did the drive. The outside of the building has had some wear but the inside of the restaurant is very clean, nice and homey. I look forward to being able to enjoy a meal in there one day. The sushi chef is experienced. I recognize the knife skills of a pro when I see them. Not having had sushi in over three months made me greedy. I also had no idea how frickin' HUGE their rolls are. I ordered too much. Two rolls: an avocado and a local handroll concoction with fresh tuna and yet more avocado (I like it and it's heart healthy so, you know, no judgements. Please.). Also, two orders of fresh salmon nigiri. The fish was fresh. Nice surprise. Normal sized nigiri. Decent rice, not too sweet. The hand roll of fresh tuna and avocado, was very, very good. The other roll, as I've said, was massive. I guess in Douglas County bigger is better. I detest the fake krab places use as their filler and this was no exception. After I'd pulled the foul stuff out, the roll was quite tasty. And no, I couldn't eat everything. I took the rest home and chowed down later for my dinner. There are lots of photos on the walls of regulars, folks who have been coming here for years. My friend and I decided to check this place out as our girl's Valentine date together. As a girl who likes sushi but do not consider myself a sushi connoisseur I consider this a good place to get sushi and will definitely go back. They have two separate dining rooms and when we arrived the first dining room seemed full with the limited capacity during Covid. We were taken to the second dining room which we had all to ourselves. I ordered the Vegas roll which is a cooked roll with cream cheese, crab and avocado Topped with eel sauce. My non-sushi friend had the shrimp Yakisoba. We both enjoyed our lunch although my friend thought the Yakisoba was a bit too salty. We Both ordered the green tea and were given a generous carafe full Which afforded us several small cup Fulls ( 6 oz) a piece. This place is very reasonable. The tea was a total of $4, Vegas roll $12 and shrimp yakisoba $15. This sushi roll is Generous in size and my friend got a to go box for her leftovers. Our waitress was very courteous; when she brought our bill told, she us To take our time and not rush. There's finally real ramen in town, Roseburg! And it's good! It's here at your local (and only) sushi restaurant. Here is my ramen essentials breakdown: Broth Available in the typical 3 flavors: soy sauce, salt, and miso. I don't know if they make their own broth base or if it is genuine tonkotsu, but the miso broth was flavorful and not too salty. Noodles They're thick and wavy, which is how I like them! They were light brown instead of yellow, so perhaps whole wheat. I don't know if they are housemade either. Chashu This one is housemade, and it was better than I expected. They obviously have knowledge of how chashu is traditionally made. There were some fatty parts that were unchewable, but overall, it was very good. Toppings It comes with corn, spring onion, bean sprouts, and seasoned bamboo shoots, which were all good. Unfortunately, NO hard or softboiled egg, marinated or otherwise. Other Notes There is no spicy option, so to make your ramen spicy, then you'll have to do it yourself by paying $1.00 for a side or sriracha. You'll have to pay for any other sauces or minor customizations too. They nickel-and-dime pretty hard. Although I think they are overpriced, both the ramen and sushi are good quality and definitely satisfying. read more

I moved here from Seattle ( great city for sushi) and bought a California roll to go. My initial experience wasn't good because the rolls were (huge) mostly rice. I learned from a review on Yelp that you can request 'bite size' rolls which are what I'm use to coming from Seattle. The 'bite size' sushi rolls are the normal size that most people are use to. This is the best sushi (if you order bite size) in Roseburg and very good. The decor at Ami is old but clean. Sakura Sushi is the other option for sushi but I feel like the restaurant is on the dirty side. They never changed the carpet from the previous restaurant ( I haven't been there for several month so the carpet may have been replaced) and it looks really dirty. This place was recommended by a local resident. We arrived about a quarter to 8pm and were told that we needed to put in our order quickly because they were closing soon even though it didn't close til 9pm. The sushi came out about 15 mins later but the rest of our order didn't arrive til almost 8:20 only to be told they no longer had spoons for us to use for our Udon noodle soup. We made it work. My son who normally eats all his sushi left some behind. It didn't look appetizing. Well, the next day he had food poisoning and I had a bad stomach ache which caused us to delay our travels back home. Needless to say we won't be going back next time we are in town. read more

This is the 2nd time I've been here. This place is dirty, dusty, and smells just as bad. The rolls are HUGE! You'd think that would be a good thing, but you have to cut them to even pick them up let alone fit in your mouth. I ordered a roll with spicy tuna and was completely confused as to why it was stuffed with eggs (tobiko or masago). I asked the waitress my my spicy tuna was eggs and she said "that's how we do our spicy tuna- we scrape the tuna, add eggs and then make it spicy." Just a filler to make the tuna go farther.
