My dad and I stopped by here after a nice bike ride from Manhattan to Redondo Beach. We got lucky because it just so happened to be happy hour on Sunday when we got here! We just ordered fries, calamari, and a beer. The fries were to die for. I'm a bit obsessed with fries and so is my dad. The calamari was good too; sometimes they can be too breaded, but these weren't. I eat here often, today I have to say I'm quite disappointed. I ordered a BLT and added avocado. In times like when delivery and take out orders are keeping your business Alice; maybe when someone orders avocado on something, try giving them $1.50 (what you charge) worth of avocado. The amount of avocado was pathetic for the price. Also asked for the bacon wells done, the ends of the bacon weren't cooked thoroughly, I had to disassemble my sandwich to recook the bacon. OMG, there are shells on the floor. Is someone going to pick that up? What the hell?! We came here after having dinner at Fish Bar. It's walking distance and more reasonably priced for the drinker in me. We came in (never being here before) and felt pretty welcomed. There were two servers and a bartender. Our drink order was taken right away and promptly served. There were a good amount of TVs on and mirrors that were placed (to probably make the place look larger but also) so that you can see the TV's behind you. I thought that was interesting. This bar was super fun. Our server Erika made sure you we were taken care of. We came out for Karaoke Friday and it was so much fun! Great music, great crowd, it was definitely a locals spot in the best way possible. Bartenders were kind, drinks were great, service was awesome-- especially for how busy they were. Baffling slow-to-non-existent service was frustrating. Only Taco Tuesdays is enough to make me give the place 2-stars or consider going back. I popped in for a quick drink (or 5), some eats, and to root against the Heat in the NBA Finals. Finding a seat wasn't a problem ... although the place was seriously busy. The issue was getting drinks and food. The waitress was nice, friendly, and attractive. She just kept forgetting my orders. 50 minutes before food arrived and 25 minutes with an empty beer glass had me heading to the door, but her smile charmed me to stay (guys are suckers). The bartender was even worse. I sat about 3 feet from the bar. He served the table to my right ... people in front of me ... and the gang to the left, but wouldn't serve me. Why? Not even when I showed him my empty glass. The people next to me arrived 10 minutes after I did, but got drinks 10 minutes earlier. Meanwhile, a pile of friends came in and grabbed a spot at the bar next to me (even taking a seat from my table) and got their food before any of the other tables. I was literally like WTF. Literally. The only redeeming point in OB's Pub favor was trying a pair of the huge $2.75 tacos that are the stars of Taco Tuesdays. They were indeed yummy and gigantic ... almost like open-face burritos. Beef was better than the Carnitas, but not by much. After finishing the tacos and 3 pints of Strand Beach House Amber Ale ($5.50), I headed down the street in search of better service and more drinks to finish my night. read more

Two words: Taco Tuesdays!! I'm not a fan of Mexican food, but this place had some really good tacos. Not to mention for $2 each and they are freakin huge! My buds and I all ordered a round of chicken tacos and margaritas. Tacos came loaded with shredded chicken, lettuce, sour cream and cheese. Impressive. It took me a while to finish it and it was messy, but this is better than Taco Hell. $5 margaritas. How can you beat that? We also watched Obama's acceptance speech which was quite inspiring. Everyone was cheering and clapping.. the energy was great. I'd come back here on Tuesdays just for the tacos. But, no way in hell I'm ever gonna take the 10 taco challenge. read more

Happy hour is a fabulous deal, with appetizers half price and on Wednesday drinks a little bit cheaper until 10. Trivia Wednesday is an added bonus. The wings are big and well priced, but I wish they had more variety of sauces as opposed to the one sauce, which is really more a BBQ sauce than wing sauce. I'm giving this review as if it is a bar and not a restaurant, so keep that in mind. The first thing that surprised me, was that from my bar stool, I could see the ocean. Not a bad view for being a bit of an uphill hike, literally. This is a small dive bar, it has the things you want in your small dive bar. Your regulars, your friendly bartender and some tourists as well. I think this would be a great place to watch a game. All the other reviews talked about peanuts, but sadly there weren't any there for me to consume. This place is like Cheers. Lots of joning by the regulars and I felt fine to jump right in. The area is filled with a bunch of poser restaurants and bars that get overhyped because people are tricked into thinking they are fancy. I wish some of the celeb chef shows would visit them. Anyways, skip them for a second and check out a bar where you can have an ice cold beer. Not a beer. An "ice cold beer". And that has nothing to do with the temperature and everything to do with the wording. read more

We went here in Cinco de Mayo with some friends and had a great time. They had some happy hour beer specials, which were nice. M-F they also have happy hour appetizers, which are half off. The food was good (loved the guac!), our service was good, and I like how you can help yourself to peanuts and just swipe the shells onto the floor :) I think we'll definitely come back during the week to try the apps happy hour, too! There is a metered parking garage right across the street so that's a plus! There are plenty of TV's to watch games..I believe they show the European soccer games here as well. This was my second time here this week and I love this place. I have had the mozzarella sticks and potato skins and think that the potato skins are better. The mozzarella sticks had a seasoning on them that I thought was just ok. The servings for both were plentiful and enough to share with at least one other person. I have also had the 36th Street burger and the French Dip. The 36th Street is a burger with a fried egg on top. This was a great, but very filling meal. The French Dip was one of the better ones that I have had. The beef reminded me of Philippe's and tasted very good. I had the regular fries with the burger and steak fries with the sandwich. Though I'm a big fan of steak fries, these weren't to my liking. The fries are cut very very thick and I think I'll stick to the regular ones. The person that I ate with had the chicken stir fry and is unwilling to try anything else because of how great it was. This place has a great ambiance, cold beers, and a friendly staff. I have planned enough future meals for at least 3-4 more trips. read more

This is a peanuts on the floor, unpretentious, friendly neighborhood bar and was a major contributing factor for my new location when i moved from DTLA a few months ago. We stop in almost nightly. Great locals (especially wed night trivia), great vibe and some surprisingly impressive karaoke on Fridays (except the guy that just stands there and shouts the lyrics at the microphone, but he's my roommate so what are you gonna do?) Honestly, going with a 4 1/2, just tough to give any establishment a 5, but this joint is close. Wife and I just finished our 25th anniversary cruise and needed a place to burn 4 hours prior to LAX. Of the several establishments we reviewed (that were open before 10 AM.....), we opted for OB's on a beautiful Friday morning. Started with a solid omelet, finished with Friday's Special Fish & Chips with chowder. Couple of beers, ciders, G & T's (we just got off a cruise, couldn't stop cold turkey quite yet), and after it was all said and done, we realized we had found the exact place we were looking for this morning. Where do I even begin, the lady at the front was the rudest person I've ever met. My friend and I who were definitely 21+ come in, and the lady says "we are not going to serve you" without even looking at our IDs. It honestly felt like racial discrimination the fact she wouldn't even look at our ids. Then her friends like guys she's pregnant, that's not an excuse to treat us like we aren't even. Talk about a dive bar! Came here for a friend's birthday, she comes here all the time and they definitely treat their customers well! The place was packed on a Friday night and the game was also going on. They have peanuts to eat while you wait, you can just chuck on the floor. They have a decent bar, but the different types of alcohol are limited. As mentioned before, since my friend comes here a lot, we received great service! A few free birthday mixed shots! We ended up ordering their salsa and guacamole, which was very good! In addition, I ended up ordering the "tacos." Might I explain that the tacos are actually one tortilla folded in half! This is definitely a dish that you can share. They are extremely nice and were willing to split the bill any which way we needed! A nice surprise here, saw the Surfer guy from TMZ hanging out... random! Also if you come here, parking is a pain! There are metered parking, so keep watch on that, depending on what time you decide to get there. Overall, I had a great time here. Decent dive bar that caught our eye one night while walking to Sharkeez so we decided to hit up OB's. Place is small and cozy, plenty of flat screens, but only about 12-15 tables plus the bar. They had a small space where a duo was playing a few songs. Not a bad place, we didn't try the food but it looked like your normal bar food. Maybe for a dive bar - just to get drinks - this place is a solid 3 stars... BUT the taco Tuesday gets a solid 1 star. The tacos are disgusting. Cheap and large sure, but these are nasty nasty gringo tacos. I ordered the fish taco and veggie taco. Fish Taco - stanky fish. Really it smelled. Between the stale packaged tortilla were chunks of old fish...I think some sprinkled lettuce and that's it. I drowned mine in salsa and chowed down. Never again. Been going here for a few years now, when we get tired of the old El Segundo haunts:) I have had a few bad service situations. Definitely try to avoid the busy weekend nights, as the cute servers are either flirting or just not paying enough attention to get a refill on my drink/beer. This place gets 5 stars for one main reason, they are the best damn local bar restaurant in this city. Their food is pretty good, it's not life changing or anything, but its good food. And there's a little bit of something for everybody, even you weirdo vegetarians. And the people are nice, but sometimes they're not. But the reality is this place is 5 stars because everybody there is just kind of having fun. It's a fun place to be. There are peanuts everywhere, football's on Tv, and maybe the news, and another sport. And everybody's watching the game and talking; the crew is, the customers are, it's just a really good vibe. To be honest, I think they forgot to bring out my girlfriends order. But we all just kind of laughed about it. Like it's a really chill vibe. And we still left a fat tip.
