Called to see if early check in was possible. They were able to accommodate to noon instead of the usual 3pm. They asked if the second floor was okay and it was for our group. However, I noticed there are stairs only and no elevator so not very ADA friendly if they run out of rooms on the first floor. Overall the room and beds were clean. No bugs. Would stay again. TV with Roku remote and good amount of tv channels, mini fridge and microwave in the room. Would stay here again if in the area.

This is an affordable and clean place to stay right in the heart of Costa Mesa. The staff was very nice and helpful. It definitely isn't the Ritz Carlton, but if that's what you are looking for then go stay at the Ritz. OC hotel is just perfect for the price.

Staff are professional and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Loved the location, near dog park, freeways and OC Fairgrounds. Plenty of places to walk too. They offer a veteran discount, which is always awesome! I'd def recommend this place to friends and family!

NO hospitality at all very cold in terms of the family that works there you can tell it's literally just for the all mighty Dollar there was bugs in my room pillows are so hard couldn't sleep I came early and the asked for a extra $20 in cash because I was there at 12:30 not 3 pm I shows the lady the online pricing was $102 total she was tring to charge me $140 so over all I am not going to stay there again if people only treat you like a number and not a person no good

I did a reservation . So at the time I get there they told me You know what we are sold out. This is not a serious business.

Megan and Rose were very sweet and informative. the bed was sooo comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

I was in Irvine California for a two-day business meeting and my company booked this hotel for us to stay in, and from the outside, I have to say I wasn't very impressed. But once I walked into the room, I have to say I was pleased. Now don't get me wrong we've stayed at nicer locations, but for the price and the distance from the seminar, this is a great place to stay if you're in Costa Mesa. Could it be better? Yeah, but then I just be nitpicking.

Strange red mark, possible blood again.

We got a queen bed room, and there was enough room for a chair however the chair was missing so there's a giant empty space. In that sense, the room could've been more properly furnished, but it was a little bit lacking. Regarding the bed, it was very comfortable, but as I was moving my elbow or my arm around, I was getting skin burns on the sheets. Maybe the sheets could've been finer threads or I don't know maybe I was moving my arms too much. Haha The shower and bathroom was very nice very clean and they had wheelchair accessible seating. The waifu really appreciated the showerhead pressure as the water came out like a jet and it was very nice and refreshing. Overall this was a solid place a solid hotel come check it out.

Honestly, I had no idea this hotel existed until a few months ago when a friend took me nearby to Hanuman for Thai - and I noticed the Ayres Hotel close-by. This is the flagship property of the Ayres hotel chain. It's nice, but not pretentious - a great location close to John Wayne Airport, UCI, Newport Beach/South Orange County. It's also close to the 55 and 405 if you're planning to visit Disneyland. I had a King Bedroom - room 359. Rachel checked me in and was prompt and efficient. Would've been nice to get a floorplan/map - I had no clue the room was right above the reception desk - I ended up moving my car out of the 10-min registration only spot, and drove further into the hotel lot to find an open spot. Then, made my way through the back entrance, taking awhile to find a elevator to the 3rd floor... only to walk all the way back towards the front entrance where my room was. There are two buildings - the main building houses the non-suite rooms, the lobby, business center, mini-store, and the hotel's restaurant - Le Chateau Garden Bistro - which I'll review in the near future. The side building houses all the suites. Both buildings have a pool. While other reviews mention that the hotel is dated - I thought it was tastefully maintained. I've stayed at old hotels - such as the Mark Hopkins up in San Francisco - that hotel had wear and tear being nearly 100 years old https://www.yelp.com/biz/intercontinental-mark-hopkins-san-francisco-san-francisco-4?hrid=aSfI8viZXBAW48GEjn4mVQ . This Ayres spot was kept in great shape. I appreciate all the space that even their non-suite bedroom had. You'll find a lot of things that more modern hotels lack these days - such as a full size tub instead of just a shower. Separate bar area with mini fridge. In-room safe. A bathroom door that closes and locks (looking at you Springhill Suites - with your non-locking, sliding bathroom doors!). The wall AC was noisy, but after awhile, I got used to it - and it actually helped drown out the noise at night since my room was facing busy Bristol Street. It probably would help if the hotel added soundproofing to the rooms facing the main road running alongside the hotel. Other than road noise - I didn't hear many airplanes despite being practically next to John Wayne Airport. It also helps that OC has a air curfew of 11pm. Room wifi was horrible. I couldn't stay on my work's zoom call because the internet kept dropping out. I did a speedtest, and the results were abysmal. Thankfully, I always pack a personal mobile hotspot modem for these reasons when traveling. The lobby is spacious, with plenty of seating. There is a business center with a printer if you need to print your plane tickets, etc. An ATM and brochures rack is near the lobby. There is also a mini-store on-site with self-checkout - good selection of snacks/drinks/ice cream - but just know that you're walking distance to a Shell gas station with food store, and 7-11 is a few steps further down - all walkable from the hotel. The on-site restaurant is Le Chateau Garden Bistro - and makes a great Monte Cristo, which I'll write about in a future review. Parking is $24/night unless its part of your package/promo rate. That can add up quickly. It doesn't make sense to charge so much when you're not nearby to any amusement parks. Overall, a decent hotel stay with some hiccups along the way. Again -more of a 3.5 stars visit instead of 4 stars, but I rounded up since it was closer to 4 stars than 3.

It is cute, with a great pool, places to walk to, super comfortable rooms and a very nice TV. It is near the Newport Harbor and there is a lot to do there. For the price this place is perfect. Located across the highway from Newport Harbor, you can walk to several restaurants and resorts. Depending on how far you would like to walk, you can walk to beautiful Balboa Island. It was a 7 mile walk to, from and around the island. I don't know if the hotel has been renovated recently but it was the nicest Holiday Inn Express we have ever stayed at over the years. You can't tell from the outside as it does look older. We arrived at 4:00pm and our room was ready. The front desk staff we felt with over the two days we were here were very friendly. The lobby and dining area were bright and spacious. Although they serve breakfast, we didn't have a chance to take advantage of this amenity. There is a beverage cooler and a small market for snacks. There is also a small outdoor pool where several people were enjoying the water. Our room was located on the 2nd floor next to the elevator but we never heard the elevator, only people getting on/off as there is a tile floor. The room was clean and nice. Coffee, refrigerator, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, etc. A lighted mirror which was very nice. The shower was bright and looked new. Sitting area, desk and a bench in the room. We thought it was great. A little lower priced than most hotels in the area and was nicer than some of the more expensive hotels.

However, if you're a light sleeper like me, there is a specific way to play your stay here to get the best of both worlds: luxury and silence. The Room Strategy (3rd Floor Corner): We requested the quietest spot possible and were placed in a corner room on the 3rd floor, right across from the executive boardroom, which is a small meeting space. While the view was not anything to write home about because it was partially obscured by the "tent" structure near the pool, the tradeoff was perfect. Being at the far end of the hallway meant almost zero foot traffic. You can occasionally hear a faint toilet flush from a neighbor, but otherwise, it was impressively still. The room itself was surprisingly spacious for two queen beds. It honestly felt like a wheelchair-accessible layout in terms of floor real estate, even though the bathroom was standard. It was cozy, impeccably clean, and lived up to the Westin reputation for comfort. The Amenities and Vibe: The Pool: It is rare to find a hotel pool that goes down to 9 feet deep! It was kept at a perfect, cool lukewarm temperature. As a pro tip, grab a seat by the top part of the waterfall as it creates a great atmosphere. Service: I have to echo what others have said about the staff. The concierge was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating, which is impressive considering how busy they were for the holiday. Location: You really are just a block away from South Coast Plaza. It is a very short and pleasant walk to some of the best shopping and dining in Orange County. Verdict: If you want the convenience of being near the mall but are worried about the noise of a busy hotel, ask for a corner room near the meeting spaces. It is the ultimate quiet sanctuary hack. I will definitely be staying here again!

Today is the second official written complaint to…read moremanagement I had to give and the result from her was retaliation, worse service, lying, and refusing to get the manager stating she's the manager so I'm documenting it this time so that internal and external can see. I urge them to review the audio and video from both occurances. I am a Hilton Diamond Member and have stayed at this property multiple times. I had yet another very concerning experience with Victoria at check-in today. This is the second time I have encountered significant customer service issues with Victoria. During check-in, I was attempting to access a billed-to-company reservation through Conferma. Rather than assisting in locating the authorization, Victoria repeatedly told me to determine where the authorization had been sent. That's not my job but I explained that my travel company indicated it had been sent to either the General Manager and/or Director of Sales email address. Instead of helping resolve the issue, I was instructed to pay the full room, tax, plus $75 incidentals or contact my corporate office, corporate travel department, and the travel management company while waiting in the lobby. When I asked for her name, she stated that her name was Victoria but advised that anyone following up should speak with Jacob because she was leaving for the day. While I was contacting my company and travel agency, Victoria called my name. I asked whether the authorization email had just arrived because the timing seemed unusually fast. She declined to answer my question and would not acknowledge me until I approached the desk again later. At that point, she advised that the authorization had actually been received the entire time and was sitting in the Front Office email inbox. When I expressed frustration that I had been sent on a lengthy process despite the authorization already being available, I felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. I also advised her that ignoring a guest's questions and refusing to communicate is not appropriate customer service. She responded that she was not obligated to have a conversation with me from a distance. I further explained that I have experienced similar difficulties with her during a prior stay. She stated that she had only been at the property for two weeks and dismissed me again. I didn't ask her tenure. I'm telling her I already had a problem with her. Period. (And that was another lie from Victoria because my 1st written complaint about her was over two weeks ago). Regardless of her tenure, this is the second interaction I have had with her that I found unnecessarily difficult, dismissive, and unprofessional. I respectfully request that management review the audio and video from the front desk during my check-in today, as I believe it will accurately reflect the interaction and my concerns about Victoria AGAIN.
