Talk about a vendor who understands the meaning of customer service! Mike and Harbor Construction is it! I won't ever call anyone else. Mike was referred to us by a dear friend and I called about getting our asbestos removed and ducts replaced. I received quotes from multiple vendors, but I was uneasy about all of them. (People trying to take advantage of the lady of the house, but this lady is savvy) Luckily I remembered a friend gushing about their AC installer and was able to get Mike's info from them. Mike was super busy that day, but took the time to talk through things on the phone with me and even came up for a same day consultation where we talked through everything that needed to be done. He was kind, honest, competitive and professional. He made me feel easy about having to spend money on this as it was a large unanticipated cost. The best!! Best customer service, best skilled experienced staff, best product from any contractor I have used on my home remodel. Licensed, bonded, and insured! (Many were not, and the latter is required these days) I have had my new windows and slider years now and wish I would have done sooner. During all the unusual recent rains, storms, and heat the windows and sliders kept our home temperature comfortable (a big temperature difference from previous windows) Also I appreciate the excellent, prompt, caring service that continues even after installation. Months later my large puppy ran through the screen (the screen is see through so my fault for not having puppy gate up) to backyard to chase a cat. I had Harbor Construction install new double-pane windows throughout my house. I shopped around as any good home owner should and found that they were offering to replace all of my windows with good quality Anlin windows at HALF of what the next cheapest contractor. When you shop around, you shouldn't just accept the lowest price, but instead find the one that will provide you with a good price and high quality results. I was very skeptical when I received the quote for hardware and installation but thought I should at least verify that this quote was legit and that I was going to get quality service and installation. Harbor's process was not traditional which raised another red-flag in my head. They would not allow me to have someone verify my measurements before I signed the contract and put money down on the job. I was worried that I would be putting money down on a project where I might have mis-measured the windows and be at fault if any of the measurements were wrong. After talking with the owner, he assured me that that would not be the case and he even took time out of his schedule to come over to my place and reassure me. My wife and I very much appreciated that and decided to move ahead with the installation. If I remember correctly we had 14 windows and 1 sliding glass door to get installed. All of that with the exception of a window and some minor finishing touches were taken care of in the matter of a single day. That one window was not installed because it was slightly off in size and they did not want to install the window even though they could have attempted to modify the house's opening to make it fit which I am grateful for. Also, we were upgraded to the sound package for free which helps reduce the sound transmitting through the windows by making one of the panes of glass thicker. I live in a fairly quiet neighborhood and I am happy to say that I still noticed a difference after they were all installed. Now, that difference isn't night and day, but I am sure anyone that lives in a noisy neighborhood would notice it much more. Overall I am very happy with my decision to move forward with Harbor and the only red flags I had were simply due to how inexpensive the work was in comparison to the competitors. read more

So I do the "bid" thing on Yelp and sure enough, 5 minutes later Mike calls me. I explain I am just looking to get bids for attic insulation and radiant barrier to compare with Home Depot etc. I explained that I got a quote for windows and insulation, but the windows were out of my budget. Mike said he could beat HD's price and provide a better install. I had him come out to confirm the size and price and while he was there, he gave me a quote on the windows as well. Mike provided the most competitive pricing I received and provided a better quality product in both insulation and Anlin windows. 2 days later my insulation was done. Now, SNAFUs happen, every company has them, but what sets Harbor Construction apart is how they take ownership of the SNAFU and very quickly get the right people on the job to resolve the issue. The insulation wasn't up to Mike's standards, so he sent the guys back out to put in more. I had some issues with the paint around the attic access panel and Mike quickly got his guys out to correct the problem, and they left it much better than it was before they got there. I have and will confidently recommend this company and will use them again in the future. read more

Communication: Incredibly quick response time. We were never pressured into any decision and never felt like we couldn't ask any question. We received a few quotes and Mike was definitely the least pushy. My wife was leaning towards another company until she listened in on a conversation with Mike where (without knowing it) he refuted a claim the competitor made. After the 5 minute call she said, "Well, he definitely comes across as more trustworthy [than them] and he verified my suspicions." To double check the information we called and spoke to the manufacturer who also confirmed everything Mike told us. Meghan handled all of the invoicing expertly. Shortly after signing the contract a representative came by to take exact measurements (I'd previously provided approximate measurements to get the quote). Install: They gave us a date about 5 weeks out and stuck to that exact date and arrived within the time window we were told. I expected it to move but they stuck it. The guys that came to do the install were very polite and professional. They put down tarps to collect any debris and cleaned up afterwards. For 9 windows it took about 6 hours (ish). Afterwards we did a job walk with the foreman, any issues were promptly fixed, and after every nitpicky question was addressed they left. Product: We got double hung Anlin window with Argon gas and upgraded two of them (that get slammed by the sun) to even more efficient options. Sound and insulation have always been an issue with our house so we needed a good product. The previous homeowners had switched out some of the original windows to generic double hung windows; these are better. It's only been 2 days and the sound difference is stunning. We can no longer hear the clack of a skateboard on the sidewalk or the conversations as people walk by, and even the neighborhood fireworks are muted. I work at a green building consulting firm and the engineer who creates all of our energy models (to plan for better efficiency) said these windows were excellent. My 25 yo roof started leaking last year, but i thought it was my window, so i repaired it and this year the leak came through the ceiling light in the dining room. Harbor Construction had great reviews so I contacted them and they determined i needed a full replacement. From the outset Mike was always honest and upfront. I am not a roof expert by any means but he was patient enough to answer all my questions so I would understand what he was going to do. After receiving the initial contract I went to Home Depot to see the type of shingle that he was going to use, I found it was the best one available. He was quick to answer texts and emails and would follow up with me after each phase of the job was completed. This was a huge job for me so obviously I was apprehensive. He made me feel at ease. We changed 15 windows and Anlin Price was the most competitive and with double life time warranty as add-on. And among multiple vendors recommended by Anlin, Mike (Harbor Constructions) matched and went beyond by beating the best quote I received. These guys are a class act. First off, Mike explained how to tell a good contractor from a bad one, even if it meant I ultimately chose someone else. That shows they care about customer satisfaction. Secondly, their communication was easy. Mike or Meghan are easily reachable by text/email and are quick to answer any questions. Thirdly, the price was competitive (aka, slightly cheaper) to rivals without sacrificing product or installation quality. During the first week of August we had all of the windows in our 1972, single-story house replaced by Harbor Construction. Also included were three sets of patio doors of assorted sizes. Most of these had been upgraded to heavy wood frames in the 1980's and I had been told by four other companies that they would be difficult (and costly) to replace. I had already spent a month with these assorted other company representatives measuring & quoting. Thankfully, I contacted Mike at Harbor Construction. The clouds parted & angels sang! Harbor Construction's perfect Yelp reviews drew us to contact them to inquire on their window and roofing services. Mike LaFirst was quick to respond and was flexible with a late appointment time. The initial meet/assessment/estimate was pleasant and enjoyable. My husband and I immediately felt at ease with Mike, as if we were just hanging out with a friend. Mike walked around, took some measurements and sat on our dog hair filled and dog smelly couch and gave us the numbers. Did he have a choice to seat somewhere else? YES!! To start, I have a house with a flat roof that I wanted air-conditioning in. There were no good options. Here is what a contractor should be. Mike is available, attentive, and honest. Moreover, he seems to put the idea of "getting it RIGHT" above profits. I believe (like him) that if a job is done correct, the profits and repeat business will follow. For my A/C and door/window install he was able to beat my other reputable bidders and throw in a few added value items that others would no doubt charge extra for. So I felt I was getting a VALUE by using him. He also has financing options available that I used to help afford the work. And no, he didn't push that predatory financing, I asked HIM for options. I hate it when people PUSH junk financing to boost their profits. He doesn't do that. As a side note, his window order turnaround time was the fastest I'd ever seen for custom made windows. We had 32 windows replaced with Anlin Windows by Harbor Construction in April. We chose them as had gotten two other quotes for the same windows that were quite a bit higher, plus Mike La First was incredibly patient with me as I tried to make decisions on whether to pull a city permit (we did), get window grids (no), use fire-safe glass (no except where required), & get our HOA approval. I also added additional windows to our original quote in order to make sure all of our front windows matched and Mike was great in working with me on the price for the add'l windows. Once the windows came in, the installation was scheduled quickly, and all 32 windows were efficiently replaced within two days by a great crew. They look great! Harbor Construction is a 5 star company from top to bottom. They installed my Anlin windows in July of 2022. Here are some important points about this company/experience: 1) we had 28 total replacement windows installed - 25 windows and 3 sliding glass doors. Big job. 2) Mike (the owner) met with us first to discuss the project and provide an estimate. KEY: Mike took all the time in the world to answer all our questions. He was professional, patience, and helpful with options and ideas. BIG KEY: Mike's price was substantially lower than two other window companies (including American Vision Windows). 3) Mitch is the owner's right hand man...and what a gem! Mitch came out to measure and mark each window. But he did so much more. Since Mitch was a window installer for many years, he had great answers for every question/issue. What a kind, professional, and helpful man. 4) Carlos (aka Bisquit) and his crew came out to install the windows. This three man crew took three (3) full days to complete the job. They never hurried. This crew was the epitome of politeness and respect for us and our house. Carlos may be the "king" of window installers in Orange County. 5) Mike called the first day of installation to inquire about the crew and be sure we were satisfied. 6) about 2 weeks after installation, we noticed a clicking noise with one window when opening/closing. I called Mitch and he made arrangements to come right out and make a small adjustment, fixing the issue. Last points: 1) this company diligently ensures absolute customer satisfaction. We felt like they were FAMILY, not some guys trying to make a buck. 2) you will not find a lower price from reputable Anlin certified window installers. 3) BE SURE to cover ALL furniture anywhere near the windows during installation...it can be a bit messy. 4) they reiterated their commitment to come out for ANY problems in the future (Anlin windows have the best lifetime warranty in the business). This company deserves 5 stars hands down...Mike responded to our request for a quote very quickly. He came over and quoted us cheaper than EVERY QUOTE that was given to us (which was 5 to be exact). His offer also included much more than other companies (ex: security locks; automatic locks; etc.) Mike informed us that the windows would take 10 DAYS to order! Which was HALF the time of any other company we spoke to! Installation took 1 day, and Mike's team was very friendly and got the job done in a few hours. They replaced 5 windows and 1 sliding door. They cleaned up after themselves, leaving everything like they weren't even there! It's only been a few days since the installation and I already notice the difference! Our home is much cooler now! Also, one of my favorite parts about the windows is that they are TINTED!!! They have a slight tint which is a great way to keep the heat out. Do it now! Harbor Construction made it so easy to replace those old windows and sliding doors that I wish I would have done years before! Some of the positives: Licensed. Bonded. Insured. Quality product Anlin made in California (not overseas as others). Professional. Experienced installation team. Great customer service and follow through! Good value. Our home now has much better temperature and sound control. Love the easy glide of the windows and slider too. From the knowledgeable information from Mike, Mitch, and Meghan to coordinate to Eddie and Carlos who installed the many windows and slider, total professionalism and expertise. Remember you get what you pay for! (There were some less expensive quotes but they were not licensed or insured (and regulations require one to use licensed contractors if supplies and labor is more than $500 or else fine) and the product was from overseas so with supply chain and liability issues other quotes were not a smart choice. Some quotes were much higher.) Harbor's quote was fair and good value as having licensed, bonded, insured, experienced staff, great customer care, and quality California local product Anlin with warranty was a priority. The installation crew has been part of the team for years so were experienced and clearly knew what they were doing and made sure all windows sealed well to prevent mold, etc. Very happy with our choice and have recommended Harbor Construction to others. Our black retrofit windows by Anlin are amazing! Mike is professional with good customer service and great follow up.
