What a difference one individual makes. I wrote a 1-star review of this business on 3/25/16 and would have given zero stars if that were an option, because of an incredibly rude and belligerent driver who apparently wasn't very intelligent either, because he didn't back down even when he saw me taking photos of him, which I posted. But I had another experience with Jerry's Service & Occidental Towing on 1/18/17 and the difference was like night and day. I never got the first guy's name, but the driver on the 18th was named Steve. Not only was he polite, professional, efficient, good-tempered, and friendly, with a good sense of humor, he was even a cat lover. Any man who loves cats is a good man in my book. So because I believe in fair play, I am writing another review. In case anybody wonders why I would hire a company again, after such a bad experience the first time, I should explain I wasn't the one who hired Occidental Towing the first time. It was a company who delivered appliances for Sears, who got their truck stuck in the mud in my front yard when their driver drove off the road. This review is not a correction for my first one. I still stand by the first review. But with this company, it apparently depends on the driver you get. You could consider asking for Steve. Wish I'd gotten the name of the first guy, but you could always say you don't want the guy in the photo! That's assuming he still has a job. read more

This company took care of me royally and pick me up when Yarbrough towing left me stranded. Terry Hansen, saw I had a limp and a crutch and assisted me to get in his tow truck. He was kind and professional. I have never seen anyone get my M5 on the back of a flatbed with kind of procession and grace. Driving northbound on 101, then transitioning to westbound 12 at 6:30PM tonight, I was aggressively tailgated by a driver from this company. Dude, we are on a hairpin curve, I'm following the car in front of me, why are you weaving back and forth ON my bumper like you're going to drive right over me? Once on 12, another car dared to travel in front of this jerk, who turned on his daylight spotlight on the poor motorist. Highway bully at best, highly dangerous at worst. I had to deal with a totally rude, condescending, driver from Occidental Towing. On Sunday April 1 at about 3:46 pm, I called for emergency repair service that I carry with my insurance company. The insurance company were quite polite and dispatched a driver to change my flat tire as I did not have any tools in car. The driver showed up about 45 minutes later as I was told. He did take care of changing the tire,no problem. The problem was his RUDE , SNIPPITY, CONDESCENDING attitude and remarks. He got out of his car, started bitching at me to get in the car,even though the car and myself were well off the road (I had gotten out on the passenger side). I immediately did get in the car, gave him my insurance info, and was quite polite to him. After he replaced my tire with the temporary (donut type) tire, he came up to the passenger side door and said " LOOK AT ME SIR! DON'T DRIVE OVER 50 MILES AN HOUR WITH THIS TEMP TIRE!" (As if I did not know that already-I most certainly did). His tone of voice was totally CONDESCENDING and RUDE. Can you imagine someone starting a conversation with you by saying "LOOK AT ME!" It is the way someone would talk to a misbehaving 5 year old. He was acting more like mean unprofessional bar room bouncer who never quite had the people skills to get hired by a professional security agency. The company does have other good reviews. I hope they can get rid of this bad apple and send him of to some bouncer job where his mean attitude might be desired. read more

I crashed my truck just north of Jenner on Hwy 1. Doug and his tow truck were helping me within 30 minutes. Once we got back to Camp Meeker Jerry himself drove me back to Rohnert Park per his own offer so that I wouldn't be stranded. I also spoke to a couple of mechanics while I was there and everyone was very helpful and friendly. read more

It was dusk at the end of this past Labor Day weekend when my car started losing power and the Check Engine light came on at the edge of Freestone. He made sure that I was safe inside the cab, while he maneuvered my car onto and off of the carrier. I just moved to the area and had pulled into town after dark. I was taking my horses to their new home in Occidental. As I drove down the long dark private road to their new barn, my truck went over a bump and slid into a big ditch. I was stuck. 4WD didn't do a thing. My truck and trailer were both completely stuck, in the dark, in a place I'd never been. I got the horses out and the barn hand helped me take them to their stalls. Once I got them settled I called AAA. Of course the AAA lady had to ask a million questions and it was taking forever. I started to walk back, already frustrated with AAA (and still on the phone with them). A woman from the barn ran up to me and said, hurry, the tow truck is already here. I said to the AAA lady, did you already send a truck? Noooo she said. So, I hung up with her and ran down to find the Occidental Towing guy backed up to my rig, getting things set up. I asked him who called him, he said, oh no one, I saw your hazard lights on and came to investigate. He was my angel that night!!! He quickly, patiently, and professionally pulled both my truck and trailer out of the ditch. He then helped me hook them back up and backed the rig out of the driveway because I was now a bit scared to fall in the ditch again in the dark. I can't recommend Occidental towing enough.
