We were several hundred miles from home when our truck broke down leaving us in a picturesque but very remote part of the California coast. A state park employee working in the area told us to, "make sure you get Occidental Towing" when AAA answers your call. We did as suggested and we were very much relieved when Anthony hooked us up and towed us back towards the mechanic shop. Not just one shop, but it had to have been at least six mechanics we had him drag us to or try to call. Each place was either too busy or seemingly uninterested in replacing a water pump on a Chevy P/U. Anthony didn't have to go the extra mile in putting up with our misery but he went far beyond what we expected or had even hoped. When one shop would turn us down he was there with another useful idea, another suggestion, another anecdote to keep us plugging away on the positive side of that day. Eventually, through Anthony's suggestions and by other mechanics referrals were were able to get to a shop and get repairs started. I've been towed before. Its usually a miserable experience and this had all the makings of a WTF kind of day. But with Anthony's help and positive outlook we made it and it turned out not to be so bad after all. Attempted to rely on Occidental towing. Called my roadside assistance and they found this company on their list of outside providers. I paid an out of pocket fee to the Allstate rep in order to cover the extra amount needed, or so I was told. The driver arrived early, without any warning that he was even on his way. Comments like, "You're not coming with the tow, are you?", only drove home an unprofessional, surly attitude. As I prepared to make my vehicle more accessible for the tow, the driver surprised me by stating that I also had to pay an extra $80 fee. Totally shocked, I mentioned that Allstate did not give any indication that there would be ANY more out of pocket fees. "Mr. Congeniality" called his home base and they confirmed. At that point, I said that I cannot pay out of pocket and the driver complained that Allstate and I were "wasting his time". Maybe they take care of their AAA members a little better. Obviously, if you have some other roadside assistance, they could care less. I was told that Allstate won't be using them as an outside provider. So if you have Esurance especially, and they send this company as an outside provider, be prepared to get gouged or stranded. read more

Last night I found myself stranded at Bodega head with a flat tire and no spare. Amazingly I had cell phone service and thankfully my roadside assistance was connected to Occidental towing. I thought I would've been stranded for hours but it took him 15 minutes to get there and not only did he help me with my incapacitated vehicle but he helped me get home. In the past when I used my roadside assistance through USAA I had been not so satisfied but I am glad that in West County Occidental towing has the contract I feel a lot safer in my piece of crap car now. read more

Occidental towing responded to a motorcycle tow with incapable towing vehicle arrived and left within 2 mins. The tow truck arrived Lowered the flatbed at a 45 degree uphill angle and pushed my bike with me on it onto the angled flatbed then told me to sit on the bike while it was on the flatbed with my brakes applied on an uphill angle with no straps or any support and hope that the bike didn't roll backwards or off the entire flatbed with me on the bike . When I mentioned that he should probably use some kind of strap or maybe that that they should have dispatched a proper vehicle to tow a motorcycle he immediately stopped asked to sign a release of liability and when I asked why? The driver Terry left even quicker then when he arrived. Great operating procedures. Don't call these people if you have a motorcycle . And I'm sure they don't care . Final note To the dispatcher Gary with whom I spoke to over the phone . You don't need to send a 35foot long flatbed to tow a motorcycle with two wheels. read more

I'm sending this out about One person working for Occidental Towning and not the whole Company. I find Occidental towning to be a Great Company that gets it done when needed most....Ive had them save my butt many time on the NorCal coast...so this is hard for me to do. I recently needed a tow to my mechanic's shop in Santa Rosa. I called AAA and Occidental came out Fast as heck as ususal...But the guy they sent out was rude, with cutting remarks and condescending statements. ...he made me push my own vehicle onto his trucks ramp, and got mud all over my floorpad where he did not have to.. While all the time I was kissing his ass with positive comments and encouragement, to no avail he was just a hard core Ass. ...the guy in my opinion, should be fired. I m sure Im not the first to complain about him, and hope this complaint does not discourage folks from calling Occidental for service, as again I feel Occdidental Towning it self, is nothing short of Amazing...but this guy that came to me about 10 days ago...was a shock, (as I never thought such a person would work for Occidental,) and deserved this complaint!! read more

My boyfriend accidentally locked our keys in the truck of our car. I used my car insurance emergency roadside assistance lockout service. Once assigned Occidental towing was able to come to my location within 30 mins. Jared took a look around the car and had a game plan. He was able to help unlock my car within a minute. Terry was direct and went the extra mile to climb under the Bus and use bailing wire to hold up the transmission, and Move The Bus. These guys are the bomb! Jered came when I called AAA because my tire was flat. He cheerfully extricated the spare from its under-the-car compartment and got it on in a jiffy. When he put the flat tire in my car, he made sure to rotate it so the offending nail was immediately visible. I went to Big O in Sebastopol to get a new tire. But when I picked up the car, the spare had not been put back in its compartment, which no one there seemed to know how to access. I let the spare sit there in the back of my SUV for a month. And then I got the bright idea of calling Occidental Towing and asked if someone there could put it back. "Sure! Bring it over." "Do I need an appointment?" "Nah, just show up." So the next day I drove over, and the minute I pulled in and explained the problem, a couple of guys swooped in, and figured out right where to put it. They thought it was ridiculous that no one at Big O knew. Then one of the guys pointed out how badly I needed a new right front tire. No one at Big O had even mentioned it to me. He took me back to their graveyard of crashed vehicles to see if he could find a good tire for me. I thought that was so kind of him! These fellows are wonderful. When another company failed miserably, AAA scrambled to find any contract company to come to my house to get my car. They were denied by companies within 10 miles of my home because technically I am in a different territory, though closer to them than the ridiculous company originally dispatched (ABC TOWING dba ALL CITY TOWING, Healdsburg). Occidental Towing is at least five times the distance than the others, yet they accepted the job. The driver must have left right after I hung up because he arrived in about half an hour. I called Progressive, they called Occidental Tow, received my text of 40 min ETA, I called Erin at Occ Tow, explained to her what I thought was wrong. She sent me Amanda in the service truck feeling confident that Amanda could fix my problem. Amanda arrived within 40 minutes to Sebatopol and did discover that my secondary emergency brake was stuck on, released it, and sent me on my way! I am so grateful she knew her stuff! Tow truck drives parks in a Private Property Station blocking my air compressor. Kindly told him to leave because he was loitering and blocking my parking spaces. He argued against me saying he isn't loitering. I could already tell this person could barely define loitering itself, so there was no sense in arguing with this guy. I asked him to leave again because at this point he is trespassing on private property and he tells me to f*** off and have a terrible day. Wow...what service I must say your company has. Guy looked like he hated his life and I don't blame him, but you gotta realize he represents your towing company in a good manner. Managed to run my car into a ditch a few hundred yards from my destination at a friend's home in Forestville early evening 9/2. Waited until the next morning at 11am to call AAA. Within about 10 minutes Occidental Towing texted me that they would arrive in about 26 minutes. They arrived exactly 26 minutes. Eden had to manu er tiny streets with his big truck to get to my location. Within a half hour - at most - he had the car out of the ditch and onto his truck. He examined the car, explaining certain conditions that would need watching, but the car was driveable. I, nevertheless, had him take my car home to Petaluma. He explained his findings to my husband. A particularly stressful time for me, but from first call to arrival home, just under 3 hours. Eden was great. Business-like, clear explanations and recommendations. Could not have had a better experience with a towing company. HIGHLY recommend!!!! read more

I had a 20 foot steel storage container that was in the flood of the Russian River in 2019. It floated over a 7 foot deer fence and landed in the woods on adjacent property. It was leaning heavily sitting on some downed trees on a rising hillside. I cleared a path through the woods but was apprehensive on what kind of costs and time it would take to pull this thing out. The son of the original owner of Occidental came out as I asked for someone with real experience doing this kind of thing. He was amazing how skilled and quick he was in pulling that 5000 lb container out of the woods and placing back where it belonged. I would recommend these guys for anything difficult and different. They aren't into making a big job of something to charge you more and they really, really know what they are doing! read more

One of their service men approached me and my vehicle without wearing a mask. When I asked him if he had one, he said "It's in the truck. Wow. You've really bought into that story." He then tried to tell me that we were breathing in carbon monoxide anyways. I would like to remind management that regardless of your opinion (and we're all entitled to have one,) there is a statewide mandate to wear a mask when interacting with customers. read more

Months later, I was informed that his bill was $2500 after the car had been sold. Now a collection agency from New York is claiming I owe $3000 read more

On July 18th, I had a tow truck driver from this business ride my ass down the willits grade. I pulled into slow lane only to have the driver pull along side of me and go the same speed making rude gestures at me...if I slowed down he slowed down...he then speed up and then got in the slow lane and slammed on his brakes...I have reported this to the different agencies..this behavior is what causes accidents..I would not want this guy picking me up or any woman. at least 3 folks at this place went out of their way for us when we were 40 minutes away from them on Labor Day weekend Saturday evening: when Geico left us hanging on the phone for 1 hour 20 minutes (or was it 1 hr 40?), the dispatcher here was trying to reach us independently; the driver Dan entertained us for the hour drive and gave good advice as to what we should do to have car fixed and where to stay; the owner's son made numerous phone calls to find us a hotel/B&B as the inns were full that weekend. All in all quite amazing. Another guy 40 minutes north was also willing to come get us but wouldn't have had parts over the weekend. If you're going to be stranded, do it on north of Ft Ross on the coast of California. read more

I had TWO meetings with the same driver within a three-week period. Big burly bald guy and he was fantastic .I purchased a car from manly and with that purchase I paid $3000 for a service contract that included towing. Apparently these guys are the ones who have a contract with this company. I'm not happy I bought the service contract but I'm happy that occidental towing is the provider. The driver had to come out once for a broken key and another Time for a flat tire. He was funny as hell courteous and I highly recommend this company to anybody. Occidental Towing company should be called "Accidental Towing Company". If you want you trailer to be damage. They damage my trailer by towing it home and they arrange for a mobile mechanic to fix it. Great but now when it's fixed 6 weeks later they will only pay not even half the damage. I don't know how they get rave review, specially when Jerry is extremely shady. It's time to contact a lawyer. read more

occidental towing ripped my door all the way backwards for no reason. the highway patrol had shut the door, it popped open when the driver started pulling my truck out, instead of closing it, he tore it off. no scratches on the entire side of the truck. when i talked to robert, he said they would buy me a new door, i was going to pay for it to be painted. when i called back to find out where my replacement door was, they never answered my calls or returned my messages. AND they made me pay $625 for the tow even though i had AAA. they think they are above being held accountable for damaging peoples vehicles, then basically lie to my face. occidental towing has a monopoly on the coast, terrible ditch extraction, despicable behavior by a AAA tow company!! bad business robert read more

I was able to leave the vehicle unattended so I could be at work on time.
