Mavericks was a great surprise for us. Right next to the beach too! We went on Sunday around 1:30pm for lunch and we immediately loved it as soon as we stepped through the door. My family and I are big Top Gun fans so we really appreciated all the little Knick knacks they had. From the piano with the "Great Balls of Fire" sheet music book, flight jackets, pictures and art-work, etc, it was all so cool to see. They also have a pool table and some arcade games on the wall that you can also help yourself to enjoy. Really cool bar to come with friends. Tried Dragon Point IPA - 8 out of 10 stars. For appetizers, we tried: 1. Nachos with brisket up-charge (they don't mess around with their brisket.) 2. 1 pound of wings (came with 6-7 wings) - regular wings 3. Loaded tater tots (get it loaded, when it first came to the table it wasn't loaded and you taste the difference. Sorda like tots that came out of the freezer...) For my entree I ordered the Maverick Burger - a 1/3 pound burger topped with their smoked brisket and it comes with kettle chips on the side or you can choose to substitute with something from the "ground control sides" for an up-charge. The burger was truly cooked to perfection and it was tender and juicy. The staff were also very friendly. We only saw two waiters/bar attendants but it was fine since it wasn't busy for lunch time. May be different later in the evening. Great experience at Mavericks. Definitely coming back after a beach day. read more

First time here and... ngl, didn't quite live up to the hype. We all got the Mavericks burger--supposedly topped with brisket? Yeah... it was a thin slicer under the burger. Patty was undercooked (I like pink, but not raw) and totally unseasoned. Flop. Somehow the bun stole the show. Kettle chips were meh, tots were straight-up frozen vibes (should've gone loaded). Drinks were hit or miss--Old Fashioned was rather sweet, and the "Ice Man's Chill" had zero fizz. Definitely more bar than restaurant--no hostess, a little figure-it-out-yourself--but all good. We had our two teens and never felt out of place. Live music was loud loud... like can't-hear-your-own-table loud. Maybe I'm just old. Outside was packed--one-sided picnic bench life. Not ideal, but manageable. Clean spot and service was solid once we got going. We'll give it another shot--I want to give this place more stars next time. Pizza looked legit (thin, crispy) and smoked wings have potential. Maybe happy hour is the move. We're new to the area and love supporting local places. read more

This is my second visit to Mavericks. I'm traveling on my own this time and needed some people time. Mavericks patio was the perfect place to hang out for a bite to eat. Lots of friendly faces and laughter. The nachos were tasty, too. Definitely will be on the list for a return visit. read more

Rebranded and trying hard. Check them out on Facebook. Very active with promotions and content. They have rebranded into trying to capture the vibe of the movie they take their name from. It is redone and bright and clean. But it is a bar. The waitress was unremarkable and to be honest not full of many good suggestions. We ordered up crab cakes and were not disappointed. They use the "old" recipe and hopefully they won't change it. They were out of brisket and shrimp midday on a Saturday. That is inexcusable. The pulled pork sandwich was very good with coleslaw on it. Now the wings were big and meaty. But smoked imparts a flavor that does not pair well with Thai chili sauce. So GET THE SAUCE ON THE SIDE. It was inedible really and when I shared my opinion with the waitress her response was "it is personal choice you could have gotten the sauce on the side" I agree but I did not expect the wings to taste like a burnt tree. No offer to make it right. 50/50 if we go back. read more

Very clean and nicely decorated. Staff and customers make it a dive bar. Good place to come watch a Florida college football game, but wouldn't come here on football Sunday. Basic menu and food was ok. The outdoor bar allows smoking, so don't expect to dine outside. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. read more

No no no, stopped in here because we had heard it was pretty good it all I can say is no no no. The drinks were good. We ordered a blt, and brisket melt with an upgrade and side of tater tots instead of the kettle chips. My blt was just lettuce, bacon and tomato between two pieces of hard lightly toasted white bread with kettle chips on the side. The brisket was also placed on two hard lightly toasted bread with lettuce. The upgrade side of tater tots were six tater tots with a little bit of frozen shredded cheese on one or two of them. There was no flavor on anything and no extra toppings... nothing. I originally was going to get a cheeseburger but was told I had to order a gourmet burger or order a build your own burger because the cheeseburger was only made during the week ??From what I can see there was only one cook in a small area. The place looked really nice, clean and very pleasant to sit in. The bar staff were friendly but not too attentive. Very disappointing. read more

Went for prime rib was told no medium rare it was over cooked. Asked for a picture saw a grey slab of meat that looked like it was in a walk in for days. Got the wings very chewy and burned flavor. I went on a Thursday, which was a karaoke night. The bar tender was super sweet and she instantly turned her attention to me. She was helpful with the menu and I ended up ordering Jerk wings. The wings were delicious and the vibe was cool. I would eat here again! read more

We were driving down A1A decided to stop by and have lunch at Mavericks. The band was taking a break and we had no idea how they sounded. A server immediately took our drink order which was great. The band started playing and we were trapped since we already ordered drinks and they didn't arrive yet. We were Leery but decided to have a pulled pork sandwich. I was unsure what this meat was? One of the locals saw my face and made a comment that the locals don't eat the food since they have new owners. The last owners made excellent food. He told us they bought the bar to get a green card. It took me 2 weeks to eat out again. read more

This place is wonderful! The daily specials are great deals and the service is friendly! We were welcomed upon arrival and chose to sit at the bar. Happy hour is a deal and the food was delicious. I cannot say enough about the fabulous crab cake BLT wrap! It's grilled and very fresh with little or no filler with no shell! A real home run! Friendly service and the food was served quickly. The Sunday prime rib was recommended, and was the reason I gave the place a try. 10 oz medium rare and tender. The Maverick theme is a bit overblown. The food is good. We had the French dip and the brisket cheesesteak pizza - both were great. The service is where the place struggles. Service was very slow, unenthusiastic and they forgot our order for the child in our group. We were told the food just trickles out, which is why different people at our table received their food at different times. We eventually just gave up on the hot dog. If they can tighten up service, the quality of the food gives the place potential. Just manage your Maverick expectations. read more

I love the new atmosphere and redesign of the menu. However I ordered the "pulled pork" sandwich and I'm speechless on how it came out. The pork didn't look or taste normal and it was completely grey. Didn't have much flavor and was chewy. My wife ordered a Cesar salad and French fries. It is a bar and it is loud. Everyone is drinking so they talk even louder. The beef Wellington bites were really good, made with prime rib, not tenderloin, but very good with the Demi glaze. The Cuban, eh, we cannot find one that can stand up to one we would have in Tampa. read more

I really like the food here. They have an appetizer - I believe it is called beef tenderloin pockets .... I might have the name wrong and when I asked about the beef tenderloin "sliders" the bartender coldly said we don't have those ... I picked up the menu again and she mentioned this- I like going to the outside bar because they usually have music on the patio. I know a couple of things to expect when going here - the food is good .... but do not expect a napkin... they only have the thin , small bar napkins and do not expect good service. Last week this guy got so mad next to me, he was mumbling under his breath got up and had to go over to the register to pay his tab. I told him bad service and grumpy servers are typical here. Let me start off by saying the food is delicious. I love the stuffed mushrooms and the slider appetizers. That being said this is a bar and the food is overpriced. I have one drink, my husband a beer ,we split two appetizers and the bill was 70. If the pricing was more in line with others in the area I would have given them 4 stars. Insanely Delicious!!! Wow! Just wow! Hubby had the meatloaf with mashed potaties. I had the "queens" cut prime rib. Asked for the prime rib to be cooked per chef's choice. This was the best meal. My prime rib came with mushrooms and I ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Both meals were exceptional. Service is 5 star. They also have happy hour till 6pm every day. Live music too. Gross!!! I used to love this place but mgmt let's dogs sit on eating areas and the table service is terrible. You're lucky if anyone visits your patio table once, but they'll never visit twice. They must lose a lot of money in walked tabs. Plus, I love dogs, but letting a dog sit on an eating surface is disgusting. Mgmt didn't GAF. Won't be eating here ever again. read more

Our favorites are the prime rib dipper panini and seafood roll, but the nachos and prime rib lunch/dinner are great too. Still have to try the meatloaf sliders that look amazing. Wow, this place is no joke for food. We will be back because it tastes like my mom is back there cooking (she's not!). This prime rib is the best prime rib that I have had in years and that includes cruises (RCL, NCL). We came to listen to the band (surprisingly good) and got great food at the same time, I was not a fan of the cucumber salad but that is my taste and I likely won't get it again.
