Had my wisdom teeth removed. Super smooth experience, they were kind to me , the surgery was quick and pretty much painless. I'd say this place was pretty solid. The only small issue I had is that it's a little tough to directly get a hold of the office. When you call the phone number, it directs you to a call center rather than the office itself. read more

The only thing good about this place is the sweet black dental assistant whom I actually love and adore ( I forget her name, I usually forget my own name) These people have aided in my teeth literally crumbling out of my head. I was recently diagnosed with lupus which has done a number on my teeth. I went in there ultimately in tears thinking I had periodontal disease or something. It turns out it's a lot of internal body stuff. Regardless cavities galore because I literally have no enamel. They've forced me into multipe root canals I did NOT want hten failed to schedule the crowns. They claimed it was insurance while insurance claimed they had already approved it. I have called over ten times to schedule these crowns, left voice mails, have tried to schedule in office... Nothing It's been 7 months with TEMPORARY root canal fillings on 5 teeth. I am allergic to epiphedrine... so I get the shot with the other stuff in it. One time I wasn't numbing fast enough so the dentist came back and gave me some more shots. I instantly felt my heart pounding. I called the assistant almost in tears, she already knows about my allergy and was instantly concerned and went to ask the dentist. He came back in and told me yes he did, he then told me that i was NOT allergic to this and it was in my head and it's only a problem if it goes into the vein. He didn't ask.. He didn't warn.. Despite my paperwork stating I'm allergic to this.. he injected me anyway I literally made a yelp account to review the3m because my mouth is destroyed. they have yet to return my calls for my follow up appts and theres always an issue like a broken computer or someone who cant verify insurance. it's nice and clean and all.. but I'd rather my teeth worked on in a war zone by good honest people than here read more

I really tried to not write a bad review because the front staff and everyone in general is very nice. However, this office has ruined my teeth. Most of the work was done by incompetent dental assistants. It's not that they're incompetent, they are not dentist and do not know what they're doing. A few days before Thanksgiving I went to get a cleaning and a filling. Originally, I was told they would do a crown later on. But without telling me they decided to do two temporary crowns. One came off the next day then the other one came out multiple times before the permanent crowns came in. When the current permanent crowns came in the front, one was completely different color than the rest of my teeth. So they had to re-order a new one. The other permanent crown did not fit, and it was nearly impossible to eat. I powered through it till January when the next permanent crown was coming in. Going there at least once a week to have the temporary crown replaced because it kept falling out. Meanwhile, the root of that tooth turned black. Since then the whole bottom row of my teeth moved , they did not put the front crown in properly. It is now grinding down on my top teeth. My whole jaw is completely moved. I wake up in the middle of the night biting down on my tongue because my teeth are totally misplaced. It's still completely uncomfortable to eat or just rest my mouth. My underbite is horrible now. I have since met with a new dentist who has to basically redo all of the work which means I have to pay out-of-pocket for it because insurance just recently paid for these crowns it's gonna cost me over $2000 to get this fixed. If I want insurance to pay for it, I would have to go back to this dentist that I do not trust. I guess I didn't speak up because the other times I made a complaint, one of the dental assistants scoffed at me. This place will really mess up your teeth. Do not go here. I have an appointment with a malpractice lawyer this week and plan on taking legal action. read more

Unfortunately, he couldn't get through the extraction, but the dentist and staff were so patient with him. I think other places would just give up and not want to deal with him. Vert Poor communication. Had a crown done here. In pain for 2 weeks. Went back to find out why I was in so much pain. They prep me ( thinking they were going to examine my tooth). The next thing I knew, they pulled the crown out. No explanation. The account walks in and tells me that it will be $3000. You need an implant now. read more

Do not come to this dentist! If you need partials or anything more difficult then a cleaning this dental office is not for you. They skipped several steps in making my partials and the result was teeth that are too short to meet my other teeth. I complained immediately but they said take them home and we will adjust them later. When I called to make an appointment for a new set they lied to me. Oh your insurance doesn't pay for that step of wax molds. I called my insurance and they do pay for that and they said those steps are a must in making partials. Today they put me on hold for Jennifer who never answered the call and my next 2 calls went to voicemail even thought 3 women are always sitting by their phones. I have filed a complaint with my insurance and they will refuse to pay them as the work was never completed. So at this dental office if you have any complaints about their work they will treat you like this. They will lie to you and ignore your calls. Find a better dental office you deserve it! read more

I tried to go here today for a general check up and cleaning. I would have been a new patient. At X-ray time I let them know ahead of time that I have a hard time with X-rays especially with the back due to a sensitive gag reflex. Let them know at previous places they end up having to use the big X-ray machine that does not go in my mouth. The lady walked away. The doctor comes in. He says: so you don't want X-rays. I said: no I simply let her know that I have a hard time. I would do my best. He walked away and said we will do both. The lady comes back and I stated I will do my best. She walked away again. Another lady with a big attitude comes in and again says you are refusing X-rays. I stated no I am not and I don't understand why the lady felt she needed to go get another person as I had already explained this to her and the dentist. I said I would do my best with the X-rays. She then told me if I was going to have an attitude I could leave. I asked if they treated all new patients this way when they are just trying to let them know their history. I found the staff completely rude, not welcoming, nor were they understanding or patient. The treatment was disgusting. I will never return. It was a waste of my time that I had to take off of work early just to make the appointment. I walked out. read more

This dentist office is by far THE BEST experience I've had. The whole office is very nice and it's very clean. The doctor that did my deep cleaning was so good that I was actually falling asleep. Which I never fall asleep. He listened to me when I said I needed to be numb and he needed to use a lot because it wears off quickly on me. I didn't feel a thing! Also I really like how I do not have to keep coming back for all my work to get done. Which is easier for me because I have a very tough work schedule so it's hard for me to make and keep appts. Example: he cleaned half of my mouth today and will do the other half later along with a cavity being filled. So I only have to go back twice instead of going 4 or 5 times. HUGE plus. They were also great with my 8 yr old daughter who hates the dentist. They actually had her laughing and at ease. So I would recommend this dentist office if your looking for a great one! read more

The there is communication with them. I have been calling since September for an appointment and they haven't contacted me back. I understand Covid is going on but they need to do better. The voicemails are always full so I can't leave messages. As well they offered me a service for 390.00 then I came back after Covid and they said it was 650.00. Ocean dental has given me problems for over two years, BEFORE the whole Covid situation. I went in for dentures, and after about 3-4 months finally got an impression made, then 5-6 weeks later the first set of uppers and lowers finally arrived. I tried them on, and noticed at once that I was biting the left, right, and front of my tongue when I closed my mouth. Doctor "D" told me that this was normal, and I need to take them home and get used to them, as dentures are totally different that regular teeth! I told him that they were not right, and I rejected this set of dentures on that basis. I went back in a couple of weeks, and found out that these were FEMALE teeth, obviously a very PETITE female! The doctor insisted on taking new impressions, and after about 3 more months, I got the second set, which left me biting down on the left side only, these were male ADULT teeth, and again, the doctor told me to take them home, get used to eating and talking with them, that dentures are not regular teeth, and some getting used to was needed. After several weeks, I took them back to Ocean and rejected them on that basis. I found out that the insurance had already paid Doctor "D" for the second set, and he reported to Healthnet that I had signed a note stating that they were acceptable!!! I had NOT signed any note of that nature!!! Healthnet has closed the book on this situation stating I cannot have new dentures for 5 (FIVE) years from the date of the second set!! So, I have to go without any teeth, eating only soft food for the new four years!!! This is the worse doctor/dentist I have ever seen!! read more

My goodness! This review is long overdue. Initially, I was about to look for another dentist because of some of the reviews. That would have been the worst mistake ever. EVERYONE at Ocean Dental Group is absolutely phenomenal! I started to ask for names individually so that I can mention them on here but the more dentists, receptionists, x-ray techs, assistants, etc..I met, the more I came to find out that the entire team here is amazing! They seriously make going to the dentist not so bad after all. I applaud the office managers/dentists because it all stems from how management treats employees. You, without a doubt understand the importance of employee happiness. I've seen your receptionist/dental assistants handle some pretty tough customer situations and they handled it with utmost professionalism. They obviously learn from the best. If i could give no stars I would because this dental group is abysmal. I switch dental groups because of the great reviews, however, after my experience I am sure the reviews were paid for by the company. I made three appointments for my children a month in advance along with two consults for braces. Our first appointment was schedule at 3:00 for my youngest son who has ASD. I spent weeks prepping my son for the appointment because they do not have staff trained to handle children with ASD. My other two children had appointments at 3:30 and 4:00 followed by a braces consult at 4:30 and 5:00. We arrive at 2:55 to fill out paper work and i was expecting for kids to be seen around 3:15. During this time at least five other clients came in and were seen before us. At 3:45 I asked the receptionist when we were being seen and she said she would go check. She never came back!! So at 4:00 pm after another client was seen who came in 45 mins after us I decided to ask for a referral for braces elsewhere. The lady up front was not even apologetic and simply said, "okay". Then she proceeds to tell me that the person who does referrals won't be in until Monday. This place is a joke and I would not recommend them ever... I will do everything in my power to make sure this company behavior is well known in Lakewood! read more

This is place is so bad it made me create a Yelp account to write this review. First time I came in with a toothache where they provided an x-ray and told me I needed a root canal. However, before they can perform the root canal they have to send the request to my insurance and wait for it to be approved ( a process that takes 3-4 weeks). I came back a few days later because I was in excruciating pain as my tooth had become infected, and all they did was prescribe me antibiotics and hydrocodone to wait until I can get approved for the root canal. The pain was so bad I went to a different dentist the next day where they understood the severity of my infected tooth and performed an emergency root canal, rather than waiting 3-4 weeks for my insurance to approve it. read more

I had to ask after 30 minutes if they would see me , lady at the front said they only have one " dental assistant today". I had my x-rays done , and the doctor still with another patient. My experience with this dentist office is borderline discriminatory. I switch to this office before reading all the negative reviews and now know why. This office DOES NOT ACCEPT MEDICAL (DENTAL) recipients!! My visit was pleasant enough, x-rays easy enough, waiting time was short, dentist was polite and eager. Then his big question came - "Oh, I see you have Medical" Immediately his demeanor changed, suggested outrageous procedures needed to be done (Medical declined them all for insufficient proof) of such procedures, explained that I had to wait 2-3 months for updated dentures (suggesting I had to go without teeth that long) It only takes 2-3 days. Packed me up and sent me out the door without an appointment on when to return and only said they will contact me - it has been 4 months. Filed a claim with the State of California Dental Board and now waiting for this office to be closed down. AND found out there is a pending class action lawsuit against this dentist for discrimination. AVOID THIS DENTIST. You'll thank me later. read more

First, let me just say how I found these wonderful people I was looking for a new dentist because our last one we didn't get a good feeling, doctor never explained what was needed office manager handed me treatment plan that was outrageous, x-rays were not done also. So I call my insurance and asked if I can get a 2nd opinion and so glad I did. Ocean Dental is who we stumble upon and if course I couldn't help but Yelp them. I'm sure am glad I did. My daughter went in yesterday for her appointment and the girls at the desk were friendly and explained what was needed. Javier was great as well I believe he was the tech The Doctor was very thorough and even showed me where the cavities unlike my old dentist who said she had about 9 of them which come to find out she only had 4 and half of what they were getting to charge me. I'm leaving a review because this dentist is horrible everybody in the office is dishonest and unprofessional I want to start off by saying I went it to the dentist for a deep cleaning and crowns the dental assistant tried to sell me everything that my insurance didn't cover the dentist came and started a deep cleaning with out numbing me and I asked why he said because the dental assistant said I didn't want to pay for it i immediately cut him off and said I didn't want to pay for the numbing medicine he wanted to sell me my insurance cover Lidocaine for sure and then he said ok I'll give you lidocaine that was the first red flag the he said I needed four crowns I had already knew that said I told him I wanted gold crowns he said ok I can do that I asked him what percentage of gold are the crowns he rudely said 18k so I went to the front after the exam and wanted the price for the crowns this heavy set Caucasian lady said very loud at the front desk that my insurance didn't cover and that I had medi-cal but little did she kno that I had another insurance and I planned to pay out of pocket for my crowns when they found that out they quickly came up with an price as soon as I paid them that's when they started acting really strange and suspicious all they cared about was the money leasle the manager I'm assuming refuse to give me any information on how to contact upper management or the owners because shortly after I paid I found out that the crowns where not 18k they where actually 12k leasle refuse to help me out about how to get the correct treatment that I paid for so I reached out to the Santa Ana office and explained to them what happen and they guided me on how to contact the owners be careful at this dental office leasle is very unprofessional and rude I don't kno where they found her at but they need to hire a whole new crew because it's making them look very bad I will never return to this office when I questioned leasle about what was going on she compared my treatment with another patient that got gold crowns read more

I don't usually write reviews. But, I really had such a great experience at Ocean Dental that I'm happy to share my story. I called the office because I had a really bad tooth that was giving me lots of pain. I have always been self conscious about my teeth and I have not been good about going to the dentist because basically I'm scared. The office manager (Jennifer) is awesome! She made me feel so welcome and comfortable. I was able to fix my tooth and it wasn't a big issue. Also, I was offered a free check up with the orthodontist and he was super nice. I figure that maybe it's time to do something about my smile, so I got braces! Lol! I'm really happy with everyone! Today 2/19/19..I had a root canal done by Dr. Pruss (endo) she was so nice and didn't hurt on bit. She made me feel real comfortable her and her assistants they had great music going and kept asking me if I was ok. Thank-you Dr. Pruss. After that Dr. Dehghan and assistant did my crown, everyone is so nice and professional. The staff at the front desk are very nice and professional. I do believe I found my Dentist moving forward. My tech Cesar was fantastic. Cesar was very patient with me and his knowledge to every question I asked and I did ask quite a few question. They "lost" my kids 6 month follow up appointment, so that's how the visit started, and inevitably we had to wait a long time. My 11 year old child has never had a cavity and no complaints, yet they insisted on wanting xrays every 6 months which does not follow ALARA. I called my child's former dentist (cash only, super expensive, kids only dentist) and they said they never do xrays at 6 months unless there is a problem. I also called my older child's dentist and they said the same thing, that it is only done to make money, but is not ethical. The dentist and staff were not friendly and the dental hygienist before even saying hello said "let's see how much build up you have". The exam rooms are run down and they had nowhere for the parent to sit. We will never be coming back. I rarely write a review because I would not like one experience with one bad employee to tarnish a reputation, but there is not one positive thing I can write about with the entire staff and the first visit I also had a bad experience with the front desk, but dismissed it. read more
