exceptional stay, we had the ocean view and the service was second to none. nestled in the heart of the hotel zone and close to it all, make sure to make this place your base camp. being bilingual is a plus and helps navigating the area. we did the beach club several times as well as ate at the restaurant on site. great service comes with treating the staff there with respect, it's a 2 way street.. for those that complained in past reviews, i can only imagine how they were engaging the staff. special shoutouts to the below key staff members: tomas (beach club) -- super attentive and felt like our own dedicated staff member tending to all our needs. from the guacamole, to fish ceviche and all the numerous beers we had flow out .. tomas never missed a beat. karina (tours) -- exceptional service and made of mayan tours super easy to book. communication was consistent which resulted in a great experience. carlos and felipe (restaurant) -- exceptional service from Carlos, if the entire food service staff carried the same tone as Carlos, you will have more happy customers .. out morning chilaquiles made by chef felipe had us coming back daily.

    Maggots in the drink

IF I COULD RATE A 0 I would!!!! DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! Our experience at Ocean Dreams Hotel Cancun was nothing short of a nightmare. The drinks we got from the pool had maggots in them, which was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Maggots in the drink and refused to refund us for all the drinks only refunded us for 1 drink even though we had multiple of the same drink and we found maggots in multiple cups. The reception service was abysmal. Due to flight delays, we arrived a day late, but we had informed the hotel in advance and were assured our reservation would be held. Despite sending an email and a picture of our passports as instructed, the hotel canceled both our rooms and refused to refund us. We weren't even allowed into the lobby until we booked a new room, leaving us with no choice but to book the only available room: the penthouse, at a significantly higher cost. We lost all the money we had paid for the original rooms, which was incredibly frustrating, especially since our family was already staying at the hotel and the main reason for our trip was to spend time with them. The reception staff denied having any prior communication with us, despite my aunt, who checked in the day before, having explained our situation and being told it was fine. If we had known they would cancel our reservation and take our money, we would have added my aunt to the reservation to avoid this issue. Once we finally checked in, things only got worse. The pool was filthy, with visible chunks of hair, dirt, and sand, making it clear it hadn't been cleaned properly. Our penthouse room had a leaking toilet, which dripped from the top level into the kitchen floor below, rendering it unusable and disgusting. Had to have towels on the ground every day otherwise floor would be covered in nasty water. After we informed front desk they didn't care and didn't offer any compensation. Another awful experience after another. Overall, the service was mediocre at best. This was a terrible experience, and I would never recommend Ocean Dreams Hotel Cancun to anyone.

Ocean Dream was the spot we went for our honeymoon! We specifically picked this place due to the location and price per night. Here are the pros and cons of this place: Pros: 1. Location is great with many local restaurants and to the clubs/bars in the hotel zone especially if you're out partying until 3am and don't want to worry about walking too far to your hotel. 2. Great location on the beach and if you have an ocean view room like we did it's great to look at and see the sunrise in the morning 3. Staff was great about getting stuff cleaned up and when we accidentally used the wrong code and locked our stuff in the safe the staff was great to come fix it 4. The pool was nice and the staff was great at the swim up bar and restaurant if you want to get food and drinks on site! 5. They don't have all these resort fees since they only have the pool onsite and have an optional surfing/paddle boarding if you want to do that 6. Overall our room was a good size plus it came with a microwave, refrigerator, and a nice kitchen! We didn't know we got this added since it wasn't on the online reservation we made so it was a nice add on when we got there. Cons: 1. Shower pressure was weak and the bathroom could use a little TLC 2. The elevator was slow and they only had one "working" elevator. Sometimes it would get stuck on certain floors for some reason so you just suck it up and take the stairs 4. They just leave your luggage in the lobby where anyone can pretty much take it if you get there early for check in since they were strict on check being 3pm. They don't have a private room for it. 5. Overall the place could use a touch up.

Mold all over beech loungers...that must be the "all-inclusive " part.

A worse travel experience than a barraks by a burnpit, the tale of Ocean Dream by Guru Scamers that advertise all inclusive. We booked through Expeidia for a King Bed and hottub room with all inclusive package. We stayed for a week for my cosins wedding hosted at the hotel on the beach. When we arrived it was explained to us that there was no all inclusive feture and that we would be required to pay for food, drinks, and spa. Multiple websites, all with Ocean Dream by Guru as the url listed all inclussive stays. Plainly a scam. To call ocean Dream by Guru a "3 star" is laughable. The beach loungers are covered in mold. The elevators are always broken, forcing guests to use stairs that look like they came out of a Unicef add to end child poverty. The shower drain is so trash that the stall fills with water, completely negating shower shoes as a defense for whatever is growing in said drain. Hotel approved tours are blatant scams (look for my review of MayaB Chichen Itza bus tours) Every front desk worker has assured us of thier inability to do anything, the management is conveniently absent at all times. This was an unacceptable stay. Given the option of my dilapidated bombed-out hole of a Middle-Eastern barracks and Ocean Dream by Guru...I would recommend the warzone. My cousin was almost crushed by falling concrete on his balcony...the hotel literally tried to fall on him 0/10 for safety. If you want an experience in Cancun to regret your entier life, Ocean Dream is that regrettable experience. 1 star is 1 too many.

    Bathroom door broken

This hotel should be called OCEAN NIGHTMARE. Do not go here!! I paid more for a bathtub in the room, and there is not enough hot water to fill it up. Each room has its own 5 gallon water hearer so you run out of hot water if you try to fill out the hot tub. So then no even hot water to shower. The bathroom sink drain was not working, water got stuck. The outlets next to bed were not working either. The towel was old and with stains. This place will ruin your vacation!!!!!

Note on 1/7/16 - The review below was based on my experience staying here in December 2014. The owner died suddenly and unexpectedly in December 2015 and it is very likely that changes here, for better or worse, will occur or have already occurred. Ocean Dream Hotel is undergoing extensive remodeling that should be complete in 2015. We were fortunate to be assigned to a room where renovations had only been completed the day prior, so everything in our room was fresh and new. We had an outstanding visit, and would stay here again. We loved the abundant space, as well as the thoroughly modern kitchen and bathroom. The windows facing the ocean were nice. Hotel staff were friendly and responsive to our requests, and housekeeping did a very nice job maintaining our room. Towel and sheet quality were excellent. The room air conditioner (located in the ceiling) was powerful, but very quiet. The big flat screen TV was great, and there were several Engiish channels. We were so comfortable at the hotel that one morning we just esconced ourselves in the room and watched episode after episode of "Big Bang Theory". Of course that day, the red flags were flying everywhere on the Cancun beaches, meaning that a relentless heavy southeast wind was making water activities unsafe. This is a small hotel, with less than 100 rooms. While currently there is not a restaurant nor other shops in the hotel, Ocean Dream is less than five minutes away by foot from Cancun's nightclub hotspot, where Hard Rock Cafe, Senor Frog and other uber-popular clubs are situated. Also, the excellent Le Natura restaurant (which is good for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks) is located just a few footsteps away from Ocean Dream. Security is solid at the hotel, both at the entrance on Kukulkan Blvd and on the backside, next to the beach. Visitors cannot enter the property without facing scrutiny. You and your possessions will be safe.

As a disclaimer, I would like to start by saying that I did book the Viento Suite. I don't know if…read morethat is the reason we received the level of hospitality and service that we did, but I'm hoping that guests staying in standard rooms received the same spectacular experience! Due to having a suite, we had butlers Romero and Isaías, and they were both AMAZING. They were extremely attentive, and whatever we needed was never an issue. If we asked for something, it was done quickly and without hesitation. You honestly couldn't ask for better service. We also had access to the Aqua Club, which was open from 7 AM-10 PM and offered premium liquor along with light snacks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The waiters there--Daniel, Guillermo, and Eduardo--were great! They were even willing to make us our favorite shots that they had never heard of (blowjobs... Google it ), but they made them anyway! The lounge itself is super relaxing, with spectacular ocean views from the 5th floor. Now, onto the part we ALL care about the most: THE FOOD! There are several restaurants on the property to choose from, but our absolute favorite was Hidden Garden, which is Asian-inspired and run by Chef Mario. Everything we ordered was spectacular! Chef Mario even came out to our table, greeted us personally, and provided us with a menu curated by him--which I'm assuming was because it was my birthday... lol. They also have one paid restaurant called Carnivore, which is a steakhouse. Now, I am a self-proclaimed steakhouse snob, so I have to keep it real: for the price, it was mid. But for a resort steakhouse, it was good. The rest of the food throughout the resort was WAAYYYY better than expected--even the poolside grill and the food you can order directly to your cabana. Everything was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ribs they made at the poolside grill every day were FANTASTIC! The head of culinary at the resort, Mr. Germain, is definitely doing what needs to be done because the food was consistently impressive throughout the property. Now, the second-most important thing for most people: NIGHTLIFE. Personally, I came to relax, and the overall vibe of the resort definitely gives relaxation. However, they do have a nightclub called Egos, which stays open until 1 AM. I went once, but it wasn't really my music or my vibe. If you're looking for more of a nightlife scene, I would suggest heading into the city. BUTTTT... if you love a good pool party, make sure you hit the Moët Pool Party because BABYYYYYY... it was LIT! Overall, the resort exceeded my expectations. The service, food, atmosphere, and attention to detail made for an amazing experience, and I would absolutely consider coming back!

However, what truly struck us both this time was the incredibly warm treatment we received. A hotel is only as great as its staff, and the team here is what makes it special. We booked a club-level oceanfront room, which included butler service. Our butler, Arturo, absolutely came through for us. He handled our restaurant and cabana reservations ahead of time and was instrumental in securing a late check-out on our final day. The dining at this all-inclusive is superb. For breakfast, Siete offers a decent buffet, and our waiter, Helvert, was incredibly kind and always took the time to chat with us. For dinner, DB was our top choice for elegant continental dining, complete with a live pianist. The manager, Susana, provided excellent service, the food was delicious, and the chef even came out to greet us. We also loved Hidden Gardens, a relaxed Asian-fusion spot with tasty food, impeccable service, and another welcome visit from the chef. During the sweltering day, the pool is the main draw. Lalo was always helpful in securing our requested cabana. They cost an extra $115 each time, but they are completely worth it to escape the intense sun. Our pool waitress, Marysol, befriended us and knew exactly what non-alcoholic drinks to bring us. My wife is a big coffee drinker, so we frequently stopped by the included Starbucks, where David the barista gave excellent service and loved chatting with me about World Cup soccer. Also, a big shoutout goes out to Lady and Daisy at the spa. They gave my wife and I heavenly massages. However, the absolute heart of the entire hotel is Marco, the extraordinary juicer at Siete! His positivity, jokes, and contagious smile drew a long line of people waiting for his blended drinks every morning. Thank you to everyone for making our trip so memorable!

Truly Felt Like Family -- An Unforgettable Stay at Hyatt Ziva Cancun…read more Where do I even begin? we traveled here for my birthday and from the very first moment we arrived at Hyatt Ziva Cancun, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth and kindness. The staff immediately made us feel at home, and that feeling continued throughout our entire stay. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful--spotless, incredibly clean, and very well maintained. The service was exceptional. A huge compliment to the management team for combining the high standards you expect from a Hyatt resort with the warmth, friendliness, and genuine hospitality of Mexico. That combination made our experience truly special. And the food! We tried every restaurant during our stay, and honestly, the food was fantastic everywhere. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the French restaurant, but we enjoyed every place we tried. The rooms were beautiful, extremely clean, and had amazing views. I was especially impressed that our room was serviced twice a day. There were also plenty of activities throughout the resort, and we had so much fun participating in them. But what really made this trip unforgettable were the people. A very special thank you to Leila Guirin, Diana, Virgilio Castillo, Odalys, Angelica, Alejandro, Roman, Diego, Jazer, Natasha, and especially the amazing Edgar, who seems to wear many hats! Edgar was not only a fantastic entertainer but became someone we truly considered a friend. These are just some of the names I remember. Unfortunately, I lost the list I had written because there were so many other wonderful people I wanted to recognize. But I can sincerely say that every single person we encountered was friendly, respectful, helpful, and genuinely kind. Now I understand why Hyatt Ziva Cancun refers to its guests as "family." It isn't just something they say in their messages or emails--they actually make you feel that way. We weren't treated simply as hotel guests; we were treated like welcomed friends and loved ones. That genuine Mexican hospitality, friendship, and warmth is something I will remember long after the vacation itself. Thank you to the entire Hyatt Ziva Cancun family for giving us one of the best resort experiences we have ever had. You made our stay phenomenal and truly unforgettable. We arrived as guests, but we left feeling like family. I cannot recommend Hyatt Ziva Cancun enough, and I sincerely hope we have the opportunity to return!

We spent a week at Hyatt Ziva Cancun celebrating my MIL's retirement with a group of 16.5…read morepeople--the .5 being our 8-month-old . We had an AMAZING vacation, but separating how much fun we had as a group from the resort itself, the resort was just okay for us. CHECK-IN/ROOM: Check-in was mostly smooth, although as UVC members they "upgraded" us from the ocean-view room I specifically chose to ocean front without asking. I care literally not at all about scenic views , so I would've preferred what I booked. The $12 bracelet room keys were convenient WHEN they worked. More than half our group had issues with bracelets/cards needing resets. Our Pyramid room was quiet and comfortable but dated. Our biggest issue was the crib. Despite requesting it before arrival and multiple times after check-in, it took hours. Eventually our concierge discovered it kept being sent to our originally booked room instead of our "upgraded" room. PROPERTY: Convenient layout, nice pools and beautiful water. Generally stroller-friendly, although elevators occasionally wouldn't go to our floor, leaving us carrying a baby AND stroller down stairs. FOOD: Our biggest disappointment--maybe 4/10. My family is full of foodies, and most things weren't bad quality, just bland and under-seasoned. La Bastille and Chevy's were our favorites, with Tradewinds' chimichurri getting an honorable mention. Dinner service was DREADFULLY slow. Two-hour dinners were common even with only 2-3 people. On the positive side, we rarely waited long to be seated, and Carla from Lorenzo's was wonderful helping accommodate our large group. Room service was fine, but dirty trays and half-eaten food constantly sitting in hallways and attracting animals wasn't my favorite. DRINKS: We had some professional drinkers , and overall drinks were good. Ariel and Guillermo at the swim-up bar were fantastic--funny, attentive and personable. They remembered us AND Cooper's little non-alcoholic drink order. Ariel even made us a shot that took literally 10 minutes and it was SO good. CABANA 5: Possibly the BEST decision of the trip. We rented it for six days. It's across from the swim-up bar but far enough away to avoid the crowd. The tanning pad was perfect for Cooper to "walk" through the water and for our floating card table/drinking games. With 16.5 people, the cabana became our home base and genuinely made the trip easier. Immanuel and Angel were our butlers. Immanuel was sweet but sometimes disappeared for long periods. Angel was AMAZING--fast, attentive and so sweet. They brought food/drinks and even grabbed food from the nearby Asian food truck. We had an issue with the included cabana facials and an employee repeatedly trying to determine who could use ours and when. Carlos, a manager, handled it wonderfully once we brought it to his attention, and Hugo was great about working around Cooper's naps. BABY: Traveling with our 8-month-old was easier than expected! Every restaurant had high chairs and usually something soft enough for him. Walkways were mostly stroller-accessible and many were shaded. Staff were SO sweet with him. We brought a sleep pod over his crib for naps, which I highly recommend if your baby needs darkness. SPA: Most of our group used it and everyone enjoyed it. My husband and I did 50-minute massages and the fish pedicure and loved both, plus the spa facilities. CLUB LEVEL: Included through UVC, so of course worth it for us . If paying substantially extra? Probably not. We enjoyed playing pool there at night, upgraded liquor and extra food options, but I personally wouldn't pay a large premium. ENTERTAINMENT: We planned most of our own activities, but played 11 a.m. volleyball religiously and OSCAR IS THE BEST! Hilarious, personable and SO much fun. Anything he was involved with around the pool seemed like a good time. SALES PRESENTATIONS: A few non-members were offered Leisure Cash for what they were told was approximately a 50-minute presentation. FOUR HOURS LATER, they were still there. If you attend one, do NOT make plans based on the quoted time. That huge difference left a bad taste in our mouths. WOULD WE RETURN? Honestly, probably not. That doesn't mean we had a bad vacation--we had an AMAZING time. But that had more to do with our group, the memories and some wonderful staff than the resort itself. There wasn't one catastrophic problem; it was an accumulation of dated areas, key/elevator issues, mediocre food, slow dinners, the crib mix-up and sales experience. For roughly the same price--or sometimes a little more--I think other resorts offer more, are newer/better maintained and have better food. Hyatt Ziva Cancun isn't a bad resort, and I can see why some families love it. It just wasn't the right resort for us to want to return to.

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and were looking forward to a relaxing vacation. We arrived early, 7:30AM and our private transportation picked us up after about 15-20 minutes after arriving. After a quick drive to the resort, we checked in. No welcome towel service nor welcome drink, but we received a warm neck wrap. Unfortunately, our room wasn't ready until 11:30AM, so we walked around to explore the property and have breakfast. We received a text message from the lobby that our room was ready and to return to the front desk. We were told our room number and that our luggage would be delivered shortly. The room had a beautiful view of the ocean, clean, stocked with snacks and drinks ,and over all nice. We unpacked ourselves and headed to the pool. While we were on the way, we met our butler who's desk is located in the hallway of the elevators. At that time we were connected to a WhatsApp group text. Then we returned to our room with our butler, who reviewed the amenities and light switches in our room. We ate at all the restaurants. We went to Blanc and Terraza for breakfast and our 2 favorite restaurants for dinner were Bella and Yama. Unfortunately, on a few occasions, Terraza and Yama served us cold food, as if they were sitting out too long. We tried scheduling room service breakfast and they were behind in schedule 30-40 minutes. We were underwhelmed as the room service menu as it wasn't as grand as the other palace resorts; we were looking forward to the chocolate cake; which wasn't available. The K'akau, coffee shop was the best to relieve our chocolate cravings. The main pool lounge chairs were always taken, so get there early. We relaxed at all the pools and depending on the day had our favorite. The beach is beautiful and the lifeguard at the tower was always welcoming and helpful to get us lounge chairs. The spa services and hydrotherapy were wonderful, but we were disappointed that the men and women were separated in the pool and jacuzzi areas. We ran into difficulties with our dinner and spa bookings. We made prior arrangements with our pre-concierge, but when we wanted to change our schedule, the on site concierge didn't have access to canceling them. We were told to email our pre-concierge to ask her to delete them from the system. Our pre-concierge also didn't confirm our restaurant bookings for certain days and so we had to ask our Butler if they were booked. What was the most disappointing was the evening entertainment. We were looking forward to certain shows/performances and then a few hours before the scheduled time, seeing the entertainment was removed and replaced with something mundane. We've been to Sun Palace, another adult only resort, down the road and after our experience at Le Blanc, we actually prefer Sun Palace over Le Blanc. From our experience.. Le Blanc is a great place if you enjoy the spa, peace and quiet, and want to just chill and lounge. But if you want a little more excitement, fun, music, and meet people and have great conversations, Sun Palace is the place. Our Butler, Rene on the 3rd floor was awesome. He made our anniversary special. Safety: We felt safe. When we arrived at the resort after walking down the hotel zone, security always checked us in. When we arrived via taxi or uber, they did the same thing. If you walked out to the beach, you have to scan your bracelet to exit the gate and also scan it the when you enter back onto the resort property. Elevators: There are 3 elevators and during our stay, 1 was always out of order. One day, 2 elevators were out of order. Luckily, we were only on the 3rd floor, so we often took the stairs. The stairwell does need more lighting, it is dark, so watch your step.

The view of from the infinity edge looking out to the ocean can't be beat. I did have lunch at their pool side restaurant which the special of the day was poke and it was delicious. Service was also friendly and prompt. As I was there on a day pass they held my passport u til I returned the key card to access the gym/locker room and the two towel cards. I really enjoyed they have a lending library and I got to pickup a book while there. In usual fashion, pool chairs were reserved as soon as the day starts which made it harder to find a prime seat. They also had a competition at the pool area that was entertaining to watch. Restrooms could have been better marked for directions as I wondered we around for a hot minute to find the ones labeled on the maps. Maybe it was just me? Overall great day at the property and I'll stay here next time to get the full experience.

DO NOT STAY HERE! We stayed at The Westin Lagunamar Ocean…read moreResort Villas & Spa expecting a high-end experience and got the exact opposite. We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

Stayed at the resort for ten days. May 11th 2026 through the 21st. It is a bit of an older decor…read morebut it is very clean and there are workers always cleaning. The staff was very friendly and tried to help with our request. The room was a junior suite with an ocean view. It was comfortable and our room attendant did a great job. The king bed was two beds pushed together, but with some magic by the wife we made it more like one and were very comfortable. You can get a single king bed in some of the rooms. We were there with friends and didn't want be separated so we stayed with that configuration. I would try and get a room on the west wing. It actually looks to the east and you don't get the extreme heat in the late afternoon that the east wing does. We ate at all of the restaurants and our favs were the Black and White Steak house and Krystal. The Italian restaurant off of the lobby was good for a quick slice of pizza at lunch time. The buffet is like it is on a cruise ship and was good for most of our breakfast seatings. After a few days gets a little old. The staff was super friendly and hard workers. There is a 24 hour refreshment spot, but the food is only so so. Just for a quick sandwich or fruit. They do have a beer tap and a few selections of liquor available there for self service as well. The pool and beach area had plenty of chairs and umbrellas. If you don't see any available just ask and they will make it happen if possible. My complaint about the pool would be they close at 7:00. One small pool stay open until 8:00. Way too early for an adult only. I suggest if you want to do excursions to go straight across the street to one of the stands. If you know what you want to do they are a much better deal, but be certain you know where you want to go. make sure and get transportation included in your excursion. Also in that area there is the Bamboo Spa. You can get a massage for less than half at the resort spa. They did a very good job and were very professional. Not a "happy endings" type of place. Tell them you will do the massage if they throw in the fish foot treatment. Sounds weird but it was pretty nice. This is all inclusive for food and drink. The drinks are pretty light and when you ask for something other than the house liquor I'm pretty sure it didn't happen all the time. The best is to ask for the drink with a shot on the side, or better yet go to the bar yourself and watch them make the drink. It was definitely better and i was assured to get the name brand. Over all I would recommend this RIU.
