We recently spent several nights on the mansion-side of the resort (our first time there). Overall, I was very pleased with our stay, and would stay there again. Pros: - Very clean, spacious, bright room - Well-kept grounds and buildings - Nearly every staff member we encountered was incredibly friendly and helpful - The private beach is super convenient and lovely, and we loved that they had plenty of beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas for guest use free of charge. - We were pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate a last-minute room change request (and did so very graciously). - The food was decent, but not excellent as we had expected (see cons below) - Decent pool and hot tub area that was never overcrowded Cons: - For the costs of the room and the "resort fee" we were disappointed that the resort charges an additional fee of $15 per exercise class or for tennis courts. Other resorts we have stayed at with similar quality included these amenities or had a more-acceptable $5 fee. - Over our stay we ate at the Ocean Terrace for dinner, had the breakfast buffet at the Mansion, and had lunch at Linx (on the Villages side). Overall, service at all three options was "meh." Not terrible, but not as good as we expected. Dinner at the Terrace was good overall, but the seafood in one of our dinners was not cleaned properly. We informed the manager and he promptly removed the price of the entree from our bill, but was also unnecessarily defensive which was a turnoff. The breakfast buffet was fine (I was most excited about the real maple syrup!) but it was pretty pricey for the quality/variety. We ventured out to other (less convenient) breakfast options our other mornings. - We would have taken advantage of the spa if they offered massages... fairly limited variety of spa services for a resort. read more

This place is the most over rated resort. It is billed a an ocean resort but you cant stay in the mansion with the ocean view. The "villas" are not villas. They are a cluster of named villages/condos. Nothing special at all. You stay a mile away from check in at these "villas" with no indoor amenities as stated by staff. Restaurants are seasonal also not stated by staff. We stayed in Arbor which was a cluster of five buildings with three condos with one entrance. It was so noisy and smelly. It is so outdated. The walls were all dinged up and the carpet smelled. The dryer didnt dry our towels. Cars coming and going at all hours of the night and day just like apartment living. YUCK You have to drive to the pool and hot tub. It was freezing out. The bath sink is sooo small you spit to rinse and you spit on the faucet. Paying for Wi-Fi is pathetic really who does that. If I wanted a condo timeshare resort I would live and apartment complex. This place didnt even make my top 5. read more

I have never stayed at the hotel but do stay at the condos in Billington Village when I visit. The golf course is amazing and in IMMACULATE shape. The Arbor pool has really improved over the last couple years with the new tiki bar being my favorite addition. This resort has made so many improvements over the last few years. We stayed in a "Mansion" room in the West Wing. The room was large, clean, the bathroom clean and well appointed. We had to call down after checking in because a crucial lamp didn't work and there were no cups or glasses in the bathroom. There was an immediate resolution to those problems. The gym and pool are well appointed and well-tended. The only restaurant open over Thanksgiving was the pub where the food was okay, and the service pleasant but way way way too slow. Waiting an hour after ordering for breakfast or dinner is not acceptable. I realize it was a holiday period, but this is a big resort that obviously was ill-prepared to deal with the number of guests it had. I can imagine that could be a wonderful place to stay if management were prepared for the holiday crowd. read more

One of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had with a hotel. From the moment we decided to stay at the hotel, we experienced problems booking the room, checking in for our stay, experienced poor service over the course of the weekend, and finally were forced to confirm our checkout three times after we left with three different people. Was here for a recent weekend getaway with my wife. We had a wonderful time, the accommodations were impeccable and the beach was ready for some summer enjoyment. The real jewel of this resort is the property itself and some of the exemplary staff. The buildings are all beautiful and immaculate and the same goes for our villa - we should know, we have vacationed here for many years. The real reason for this review was our interaction with one of the managers at the resort, Sean Sullivan. Sean really went out of his way to make some great recommendations for us as we were just passing by. He took some time out of (I'm sure) his busy day to steer us to a really great afternoon. We really appreciate his help and expertise and looking forward to a return trip soon. read more

We love this place. Always fun especially if the weather is good. They have great pools and beautiful grounds. The staff is very helpful. We stayed at the villas for 2 nights and enjoyed it. The villas are large with free parking. There is a $25 resort fee. Lots of options for pools. We didn't golf or play tennis but both looked great. We had drinks at the terrace which was pricy but what a great view. Andrew was super helpful checking us in and giving a beach map. We will be back In the fall when the prices drop a bit. read more

We have many fond memories of the beach at Ocean Edge. The kids love all of the pools and the golf course is great.

We were thrilled with our stay. After some initial confusion with our condo reservation, we were given a wonderful unit in a better location than we had originally booked. We were staying with friends who changed rooms during the stay, and the resort staff delivered the few items of theirs that were retrieved by housekeeping when they cleaned the original room. They also mailed us my husband's wallet, which our 1 year old had hidden in the unit's fireplace! Can't say enough about the friendly, professional, accommodating staff, and the excellent condition of everything we used at the resort. We will definitely go back! read more

to give an idea how i feel, i literally joined yelp just to write this 1 review. i called the hotel yesterday to ask them for a slight discount bc of my experience and didnt even get a call back from the manager. its been 24 hours so im guessing thats not happening so we check in and for the price, the size of the room was amazing. no disappointment there. however the website advertises "free wifi". sidebar - i have at&t mobile phone service and literally no matter where i went on the property i had either no service or 1 bar. in my room i literally had zero service. thus i definitely NEEDED wifi as my plan was to take a trip to cape cod w my girlfriend and work remotely from mon thru weds and take off thurs and fri going into labor day. there was literally ZERO wifi in most of my room aside from some minimal wifi in the corner of room. minimal meaning 1990's style (1 MB photo took 10-15 minutes to download). i tried my verizon mobile hotspot mifi hub and that worked slightly better. no if you are looking to totally disconnect from modern society, this place is perfect. however i was not. I needed to work remotely and ended up having strep so working at a local coffee shop or whatever was not a possibility. besides i wanted to work from my room at my leisure or at the pool. Nope - not possible also every time we used the washer dryer combo unit, it shorted out the hot water heater (my gf likes to do laundry for some reason every other day despite my eco friendly pleas). literally we never had hot water until a tech came to the apt. last when we did chose to eat at the mansion (which was only once) we were literally fighting off fruit flies (we were there late august). there were literally dozens of them flying about as we ate our breakfast which we rushed thru to avoid the little bastards. not pleasant at all. fairly gross and that stuff typically doesnt bother me.... read more

I stayed at the ocean edge resort this past summer for 4 nights with my girlfriend for a friends wedding and was not impressed especially with the price of the hotel room i expected much more ($350+ per night) the room was very far from the beach and we would have to wait about 25 min each time for a shuttle to get there which was another 15min drive, eventually we just had to drive our own car to and from the beach. The pools were small and crowded as well. We had billing and service issues and tried to speak to the staff but they didn't seem to care, also followed up with management and was even directed to the general manager at one point who refused to take responsibility for anything. The summery: many other great hotels to stay at, this one is not worth it, you can tell its an independent hotel who is only concerned with making money and not a hospitable experience for its guests. read more

Having stayed several times before, this was a most disappointing experience. Particularly the pool bar manager and his service was atrocious on several occasions. The maintenance of the grounds and buildings is terrible and in instances UNSAFE. When we checked in the AC was leaking and the filters where so dirty, they must have not been changed/cleaned in months. After we complained this was rectified efficiently but when we saw the deteriorating conditions all around the grounds and building, there was no reason to further make anyone aware - this is not a 'one off' situation but the way the business is managed. We filled out a comment card with comments here listed and never heard back from management. Too bad - I used to like the resort but will likely not return or recommend it. read more

So disappointing. No cape charm, renovated rooms are fine - bad taste - but you have to make it through the Howard Johnson hallways to get to the room. The "resort" resembles nothing of cape cod - architecturally, atmosphere nor landscape. It's a Prime location but needs to be completely reset vs renovated. Including the service. When we arrived and tried to cancel they told us they would only take a death certificate to cancel because we missed the window!!! There are so many other amazing options at this price in this amazing part of cape. Oceans edge is a pass! read more

My Fiance and I go here every year with his parents for about 5 days in the summer. We always have great service and enjoy golfing, the pool, beach, and great food. I don't often write reviews but our waiter/Bartender in the downstairs pub in the mansion was just too good not to rave about. Roman served us with a smile, was highly attentive, knew when we needed something, but also let us enjoy our meal. He was friendly and personable and made our date night even that much more special and enjoyable. Thanks Roman! read more

This is my very first time on yelp, and only after a horrible experience did I think about writing this. I researched where our summer family vacation would be for months (husband, two daughter and myself) and chose this resort as there are not many 4-star luxury ones in the mid-Cape area. The pictures on-line were beautiful and it boasted many amenities as well as complete renovations. Well...they don't tell you that it is only on the mansion side and the Villa's are about 15 min. away from the amenities of "this resort", nor is the beachfront they boast about even part of your stay on the other side. After arriving in the Villa's and wanting to pay for an up-grade to the other side, they d told us they were completed booked. We immediately called them as new customers to book our stay on the Mansion side ad suddenly there was a room available. So, they immediately lied to us, right off the bat. After packing up our things and paying the difference between the rooms for the nights remaining, we moved into our new room. Boy, what a difference...smaller, but gorgeous! It didn't take long to realize there was a mold problem in our room. I did not complain, because they had moved us out of the "very old & far away villas" like we had asked. I was up all night and my head and chest was killing me, as well as the others in my family. Still not a word, as we were to be out and about all day and only had to tolerate it while in our room. We arrived on a Friday and spent that in the secluded villa area. Saturday, now on the Mansion side, there was a wedding going on (actually several) so pool area was closed for a while. We did however get to the beach and enjoyed that. That night it was over-run by early twenty year olds for the wedding and what played out the next two days was like being invited to "one big frat party" without a ride home! The two restaurants were wall to wall drunken twenty year olds with not an inch to spare or chair to sit on. This was in the public eating areas. The upstairs was dancing on this beautiful veranda, but we were not a wedding guest, so off limits to us.The tavern downstairs was so LOUD and beers were spilling on beautiful girls dresses while having changed into their flip-flops. We went out to eat elsewhere. That night there was a continued party in the room next to us; continued frat party....just wild, while my two daughters were trying to sleep. I called the front desk at 12:30 am, as I did not want to spoil all their fun, as I knew what is like to have a wedding and want to celebrate. I called again at 1:30 am, and instead of just calling, they sent someone up to talk to them. They were very polite on the phone and I let them know I wanted to remain anonymous. They knew exactly what room we were talking about, as there had been numerous complaints. Mind you, our room was their connecting room with a door in between, and at our headboard we could hear every vulgar word they said, as if we were a part of the conversation and IN THEIR room; that is how thin the walls were. Once they received this complaint they said that if they were us they would want "to kill themselves" and proceeded, several of the men, to pound on the wall hard and loud were our headboard was. We were seriously scared, and kept quiet, although did not get a wink of sleep all night. The party broke up and the couple that remained proceeded to have very loud sex, as if to deliberately, so put a pillow over my younger daughter's side of head to cover her ears. The next day we went down to the veranda for brunch but there was a business convention, and it was roped off somewhat for their party and closed to us. Brunch elsewhere. Next stop pool in the afternoon; closed again. Another day of weddings! The next day and night played out similarly to the previous one...we went off property. My advice to other guests: DO NOT GO THERE ON THE WEEKENDS unless you are a guest at a wedding! As we checked out Monday morning I went over a few of these details about our stay with the check-out desk attendant. There was a long line to check out. He assured me that a manager would get back to me by the end of the day to make things right. It has been over a month now....not a word! We had been to Ocean Edge in 2016 we had such a wonderful experience we knew we'd be back. We had stayed in the mansion, the staff didn't miss a beat. The food was delicious and service was impeccable. We made somewhat last minute plans via a Groupon (which is only the second time we've ever used Groupon). Seemed like a great deal in the villages. Villa was clean and spacious. We dined a few times within the resort and this time they missed the mark, and not sure why. Was not busy, but we had to wait to order, for our food, then the check, not a big deal in the scheme of things. Saturday evening of our stay at 12:30 am we were woken to loud noises above us. Which we quickly realized was a fight, there was loud screaming, furniture or people be thrown the noise was beyond scary and disturbing. Police finally did show up appeared to be a few arrests and things settled down. Now we know your resort is not responsible for guests behavior. But the response I received from the manager was less then ideal. He apologized for the "disturbance from other guests" and spent much more time explaining how he spoke to the food a beverage team. We are beyond disappointed with the managements dealing with this situation. Will think long and hard before returning. read more

Its nice. Its just not what I would want to stay in to experience traditional Cape Cod especially for that price. It's in Cape standards a 'mega resort' with 'villas' pretty distant from the main area and some lodging. You have to take shuttles to get to where you need to go. Its not intimate enough for me but the main area is a pretty mansion that they have done a great job on renovating. We stayed there after attending a wedding on the front lawn and with the tent in the back of the main building. They offer other more intimate areas for a ceremony but this couple picked the front lawn. Its not my cup of tea for a ceremony--the lawn is divided by the main driveway for the resort, cars, arriving guests and trolleys were buzzing by while the ceremony was being held. A car with arriving hotel guests actually cut off one of the bridesmaids as she was walking from the hotel door down to the ceremony mat. odd. The tent for the reception though was beautiful, huge and mighty impressive. Staff was nice and the food was fair. read more

The worst experience EVER!!!!! If I could give them a negative star, I would.Purchased a groupon and did not honor it once the dates were changed. When I initially purchased the groupon I had to pick dates, I called groupon and made sure that I could change the dates when I knew when our trip was confirmed. I called groupon gave them the dates and they changed it... I was packed, dog was in kennel and the family was ready to travel to our first time in cape cod. I called reservation manager Jolita Grigonyte who had to be the (WORST customer service manager) to make sure groupon had done their part to change the dates and she had told me that I did not have a reservation and that I need to call groupon and she didn't have to honor anything. When I asked if she had anything available she said yes but she could not honor any groupon. I called groupon and was able to get my money back and I disputed my charge on Amex as well. Needless to say we ended up somewhere else. read more

Stayed there recently to attend a friend's wedding. Can you say wedding factory? Accommodations were over-priced, far from the mansion side and really dreary. We knew we would be staying on the "villages side" on the golf course but would never have imagined how far it was. There was a shuttle service which was helpful. Mainly, the rooms were very dreary and dark and did not feel like we were on the cape at all. It was however spacious and near a large pool area, which is good for families and kids. The food at the wedding (and at various other places in the resort) was not great- a bunch of things came out cold and unseasoned and didnt taste good. The Mansion itself is beautiful, so the rooms there might be better. The view from the terrace is also gorgeous. I also thought it was unacceptable that they allowed guests to sit on the beach VERY close to the ceremony site, at guests' feet essentially. read more

My wife and I stayed in the Villages for 1 week attending a convention and regretted almost every day we stayed there. Not many vacations one goes on where they pray it ends and can leave the place you're staying at but this was one of them. The carpet in the rooms had black stains all throughout. The shower handle was coming off the wall. If you are looking for a good not sleep this in NOT the place to go because the mattresses were rock hard and of the cheapest quality on the market today. When we booked the room which was a terrible experience in itself we asked for a room with a king bed and and water view. They assured us that the room we booked had both. Guess what, it had neither!!! When we enter the room we looked at the bed and it was literally on a tilt so we called the front desk immediately and asked if we could change rooms with a different bed in it and that did not have stained, filthy carpets in it. They said that they did not. I asked if we could upgrade to the Mansions for the rate they established for the convention group and I was told that the Manger would have to call me to discuss this. About an hour later so cocky ass called and said he was the manager and heard I had a problem. When I asked about upgrading he told me that the Mansion rooms were all committed in his piss poor attitude kinda way. We ended call and called the 1-800 reservation number to confirm what the manager told me only to find that they had several rooms available in the mansions so as I thought the manager lied to me. I can go on and on about the poor service, lousy attitudes of most of the staff there especially people in management positions but I'll end with the re-cycled and poor quality food that was served the entire week were there. We travel a lot but this place is one of the worst experiences we've ever had. The word resort should be removed from this motels name. read more

We just returned from a weekend at this resort and all in all, it was a lovely experience. The rooms in the mansion were BEAUTIFUL and you can't beat the location right on the beach. The only reason I can't give it five stars is because of our experience with the restaurant. We went to dinner at the hotel restuarant shortly after arriving and after asking the waitress about different dairy free items on the menu, ordered a chicken dish that was marked as dairy free. When it arrived, it was covered in a cream and butter sauce, when we asked if it was dairy, the waitress told us no, when we asked for her to check with the kitchen, they confirmed that it was dairy, which was not the end of the world but my husband and I are both allergic to dairy so we weren't able to eat it. We assumed they would just apologize, say they had made a mistake on the menu and fix it. Unfortunately, both the waitress and restaurant manager - Stephen - handled it very poorly. They were both agressive and argumentative (saying WE should have made it more clear that we had a food allergy) - keep in mind we weren't upset, we just politely asked if the dish had dairy in it. It was an unpleasant start to the trip and that kind of experience should never happen anywhere, but especially at a resort like this. Fortunately, we were able to talk to the hotel manager (Sean) about it and he handled the situation with complete grace. He made it up to us and turned the whole weekend around. I would defiitely go back again. And serious kudos to whoever the designer is, the rooms were unique and beautiful with incredible lighting! read more

I recently purchased a deal on Groupon for 1 night to stay at the Villages at Ocean Edge. I stayed for one night with my girlfriend and I. The staff was very polite upon check in, and helpful. But when we got into our room in one of the villa's, it was not what was pictured on the deal. In addition to that, the king size bed was too hard to sleep on. We ended up by sleeping on the pull down couch in the living area which was barely much more comfortable. In addition to that, there was clearly water marks inside the main bedroom, approximately 4 or more on the ceiling that looked as though they hadn't been properly repaired. In addition to that, we noticed what appeared to be mold on the bathroom floor tiling and as well as on the bottom of the bathtub itself. And my girlfriend ended up by having an allergic reaction to the mold as a result, as she has a severe allergy, in the middle of the night. Forcing us to check out much earlier than we had intended. I would not stay here again, and was overall very disappointed. read more
