Called Katie and asked for a fill for ONE nail. Seems like she was in some kind of bad mood. Asked me if I could come back tomorrow - I cannot cuz this takes 5 mins or less. Told me she had a 5:00 pm appt. but it's 4:00 pm NOW. Asked me if someone else could do my Mani + Pedi. I didn't request that service. I show up at 4:30 pm. No one in the shop but one chick finishing a fill. I say HELLO to Katie and she says nothing. Huh??? I'm paying for attitude today? Really? Why????? I waited patiently while she finished the customer and said nothing. When she got to me at 5:05 pm, I got further attitude from her mean azz and I began to pray that I contain MY attitude cuz I'm well known to clown (without embarrassment) in the public. When she finished, she said, $5.00 - WTF???!!! How is that possible when it was $3.00 and then $4.00 for the last YEAR?? I would guess that the additional $1.00 was for ME making her display such a poor attitude. There are way too many nail shops in the Bay for me to tolerate nasty attitudes + pay for it. I'm cool and will not return. Today was my first time going to Ocean nails and I love the vibe in here it's a small place but not too small they have plastic plexiglass in front of the chairs while you get your pedicure to protect from Covid everyone is wearing a mask it's very clean in there. I made an appointment and they were super accommodating they had the available time that we wanted my sister got a fill and they did exactly what she wanted they were so sweet I got a pedicure and a gel manicure and they even helped me pick out a color to match my pedicure because I wasn't getting gel on my feet they have amazing selection of colors and products the price points are great not too expensive when they're doing the gel manicure I've never had anyone else do this but they put gloves on you to prevent your hands from burning in the UV light and I thought that was a really nice touch The pedicure was great sometimes my feet hurt because I run a lot and I get ingrown toenails and she took all of them out without even me having to ask she's scrub my feet and massage my legs and it was amazing I felt super pampered I almost fell asleep.five stars I would definitely come back again read more

I had acrylics that I had been getting filled after a trip for about a month and was so relieved to finally get them off! Katie got them off and began to work with my uneven nails! I used to go here for my gel manicure and they were fine but recently I went for a fill just before Christmas and they cut my acrylics to the same length as my actual nails and then proceeded to paint the gel so badly that it didn't set properly. Less than two days later the polish had smudged so I went to a place in the town I was visiting to get at least the polish fixed and as they were sanding it off they realized the polish was still wet! I was really disappointed because I used to like coming here but now my acrylics are a mess and there was just no attention to detail with the polish. read more

I don't know her name because she never spoke directly to me. Another person did my nails, the workmanship is not good and it is too expensive for what you are getting. Color selection is lacking. Outdated services, very minimal color selection, no trendy design options, cheap products, full set begin lifting 2 days later, 3 days later 2 nails were completely off. They reuse pumice stones which we all know can't be thoroughly cleaned between clients. During the full set the tech used a used drill bit on my nail bed after being asked to change it. It was entirely too abrasive for my thin nail bed so the two nails that are off have burn marks. I left really sad and underwhelmed but still left a decent tip of course. read more

I started coming here because my usual place up the street tends to have a long wait. I've only gotten pedicures and they do a great job at them but unfortunately today will be my last day going here. My experience today was completely ruined when a cockroach crawled from under the side table on the pedi chair and up right next to me. It was the most disgusting experience I've ever had. And the people working there were not at all surprised and didn't even kill the roach after I told them! They just moved me to another chair and went on. I spoke with the manager who blamed it on the restaurant next door. But you can tell the cleanliness of this place is subpar. They don't wash the pedi basin in between costumers, they just change the plastic liners. The area to place your feet is usually covered in residue, which they just cover with a towel. Although the staff is nice and the pedicures last long and are well done, cleanliness in a nail shop should be priority! I will not be returning and I will be telling everyone who I referred to here to not go either. read more

With such a busy schedule, it's hard for me to set aside time for myself. Ocean nails and spa took me in as a walk in. After getting turned away from another nail salon down the street, when I walked into oceans I was nervous to say what I really wanted (removal of a full set, a full gel set, removal of gel on toes, and gel pedicure) out of fear I would get turned away again for not having an appointment. So I simply requested a fill. After taking me in, the recommended a full set. I was so happy!!! I asked if they also had time for a pedicure. They said yes! Then they proceeded to give me a perfect new full set, and the best pedicure ever! They really take pride in their work here and go the extra mile to protect their customers. P.s. they use the tub liners for their pedicures and gloves to prevent damage to your skin from the UV light. I am so happy that other salon turned me away! read more

Ok, although I was nervous about this place at first, I'm almost done with my pedicure and so far it looks amazing and it's not even done yet! so here goes.. I walk in and a woman greets me with a huge welcoming smile, already feel better sorta. Then I chose a color as asked and didn't even wait 20 min before I was up. The pedicure was nice, cut, file and cuticle trim was good, and the massage was incredible lol. Longer than my usual place, and she hit all the spots haha. Mid way Thru my massage I change my mind on the color of my nails and decide to go French and the woman was totally cool about it, I didn't get a sigh or a follow of foreign rants with the other nail techs as one usually gets at nail salons, which was a first. Lol gotta say I will be back! Oh and they definitely use individual files and rock scrubs per person! Something most salons don't(and they must), so it was a relief that I didn't have to get up mid pedi and find a new nail salon on a Sunday! So yes! I def recommend. The surroundings aren't luxurious by any means, but they do have working massage chairs (there's another, pricier place in Alameda that will give you a broken chair without letting you know. Very uncool.) It's a little less busy than other salons on Park Street because it's slightly past the main drag. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and was seated almost immediately. My nail tech, Anna, did a flawless job on my toes and was very attentive. I think I've found my new go-to nail place close to home. read more

Didn't use fan or uv light on my nails after applying the acrylic which I don't like. Applied 4 coats of gel polish (base coat, two coats of color and top coat which made my nails look too thick and feel soft on the top. Used uv light on my hands for 5 minutes after each coat of gel to set the gel which I believe should only take 2 minutes per coat CHARGED ME $38 for a fill, replace 2 nails and cut down. My nails look horrible. I know Alameda is a bit more expensive but $38 for something that looks as bad as this is just too much. There is no excuse. Maybe they are good at mani pedis but I will never return here for acrylics. read more

I walked into this salon out of convenience and was so pleasantly surprised! I showed a picture to my technician of vintage style half moon nail polish in the hopes that she could recreate it for me. She took so much care and time to paint my nails to exactly what I had envisioned. I made an appointment for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure on a Wednesday evening at 5:30 Pm. Got there exactly at 5:30 and there were 3 nail techs and 1 in the back doing a spa treatment. Anyhow, I walk in and tell them I have an appointment and they tell me to pick a color and sit down. They were all finishing up clients. I waited until 5:50 to be started on. They close at 7 and I actually wanted to be out of there by 6:30. Didn't happen as they obviously started on me 20 minutes later. I was very close to walking out as I was calling nearby salons to see if they'll take me. Sadly, everywhere was booked so I stuck around. A girl name LAN I believe started the water and worked on my gel manicure. Then an older lady came later to do my pedicure. I finished around 6:40ish. I did feel them rush as no one else came in after me and they want to leave on time at 7. That didn't bother me since I had plans anyways. Otherwise I would've liked a better massage, etc. LAN did an excellent job on my manicure. So neatly painted. The lady who worked on my feet was ok. She messed up on the big toe which was very obvious from the naked eye. So LAN fixed it. Very affordable $45 total for gel manicure and regular pedicure. Tipped them each $5. Would've tipped more if they didn't make me wait 20 mins passed my appointment! Will come back but will make sure they call me when they're ready for me since parking is meter only! UPDATE: So I got my nails done on Wednesday evening and and on Friday morning, I noticed they were kind of blue and fading up. Not as pink as usual. Came in on Saturday morning to fix it and she painted 2 extra coats on top. Thanks for fixing it. However, one of the nail techs tried to make it seem like I purposely ruined my nails. She said my hands looked blue, so I must've done something to it to turn my nails blue. I'm like really?? Those are my veins that make my hands look blue. Don't insinuate that I ruined my own nails. She said I probably used a detergent, soap, or lotion. I'm like no nothing different! It looks like new blue jeans were rubbed on my nails and I have not touched anything different. I was happy they fixed it but did not need a snotty remark from one of the nail techs. Just fix it and let me live my life. I've been coming to this location for years.. since back when they were Fusion Nails. I used to love their service - it was always such a pampering treat. All the technicians were great, so it almost didn't matter who you got. When they changed to Ocean there were new ladies, but they were still pretty good. I just went back today for a pedi after about a year not going and I don't know what the heck happened to this place but it was a complete disappointment. My massage chair was broken and the back was stuck in an extremely uncomfortably position. The nail technician couldn't understand a lick of English including simple things like "the towel is burning me". I paid for the deluxe pedi which should include salt scrub, mask, and massage and she simply applied the products and wiped them off. Lame. Not coming back. read more

Nail technician did not provide services that we requested, nails were glued on crooked, filed in the incorrect shape, super glue was left all over the skin of my younger sister's nails who is a minor. When I went to pay I brought up the complaints to the nail technician who began to yell and grabbed my sister's hand aggressively and aggressively cut all her acrylic nails off with regular nail cutter, which was painful. The technician did not say what she was going to do, after she cut half the nails off she said "you don't want to pay, I'm cutting them off" I never stated that I would not pay or that I was planning on leaving without paying. I requested they either remove them properly with acetone or fix the full set. She then began to raise her voice in front of all the customers and we left and called the Alameda Police Dept. When I went back to request the technicians name and license number she refused and ignored me and kept looking at her phone. There were no licenses for the technicians clearly displayed anywhere in the salon and when I requested to see them, they refused rudely and refused to speak to me. I went back again and took a video of the technician refusing to give me this information as well as the store indicating that there were no licenses posted in the salon. We had to then go to another salon and pay to have the remaining acrylic nails removed properly and redone. I have uploaded pictures and videos of this to this yelp page. The police also said that they have had other pending complaints against this salon. Save your time, money, and nails and do not support this business. read more

This is my first time coming to this place, and the work that was done on me was very disappointing. One of the ladies that did my nails did a bad job. My thumb nails are uneven in length. She seemed rushed for some reason, and went home mid job working on me. I had to wait for someone else to take over for her. Come four days later, my middle nail is lifting up. I can literally stick my other nail underneath it. I will give credit to the staff for being super friendly. They offered my sister in law and I snacks to munch on while we waited to be worked on. The first lady that did the nail filling and shaving procedure, did a very good job at making sure she wasn't too rough or careless of hurting me. I didn't like my pedi because it haa alot of nail polish in my skin but for $20 i can't complain.
