I had an excellent experience at Ocean Nails. I believe my manicurist's name was Jane Lee. She was meticulous with the details of my manicure. She took her time and she took it seriously! I got a gel mani with half moon on the cuticle and it came out beautifully. Just perfect. To top it off, prices are very reasonable and fair. The other ladies who worked there were warm and lovely. I'm super bummed out, I came here for a gel manicure last week and my manicure turned out great! They have the biggest selection of gel polish I've EVER seen and have OPI and Perfect Match which are my two favorite brands. I'm very particular about my nails and was so excited that they were filed straight, they didn't give me any issues with cutting them down (but your nails are so nice, is the usual reply), the polish was applied evenly and looks amazing. However, she nicked the skin too short on the side of my nail and I bled a little bit. The nail technician didn't put anything on it or even seem to realize until later in the process. It happens, that's the nature of cutting skin with sharp tools. Normally I wouldn't think twice about it. But, 4 days later my finger is infected. It's blazing red and oozing puss from the cut. Definitely not what I wanted with my manicure. read more

The near by Nail Bar didn't take walk ins, so I tried this salon for the first time. I'm really glad that I did! The ladies there work really hard! Very attentive to every client! Really not happy with the service here. They said they could take me as a walk in but I ended up sitting for half an hour with my get in the water. Nobody talked to me to tell me how much longer it would be or apologize for the wait. I get it if you're busy, but tell your customers if it's going to be awhile instead of getting them in the water and making them wait. read more

Katie is the bomb.com! She spends time on my cuticles and pulls back the side of your fingers and makes sure that the polish is close to the edge. She doesn't apply the polish super thick, which I like. I've been coming regularly since Janurary. read more

I've been here a few times for regular mani/pedis as well as for facials, either by myself, with my mom and sister, and I see other people sometimes come in with their whole family, too for self-care. The ladies who work here are all super sweet,and skilled. It may be the time of day, but every time I've been there I've felt like time slows down, in a good way. It's not the fanciest spot on Park Street, but it's my favorite, it's a small town atmosphere in a city, the space is cozy and the chairs are close together, and people you just met will talk to one another a little and smile. read more

ZERO STARS. Sorry I hate to be so blunt but i was even clear I will not be back, ever. Three women working, two of us wanting nails and toes. I was there for an hour in a half...one woman removed my gel polish off my toes and attempted a first day of beauty school pedicure for sure! I can just nicely the staff is just slow, the work is bad, my pedicure was $30 and I hated handing her my card to pay for it. It's horrible honestly. I hope management or some sort of leadership there sees this and addresses them because there was no one there for us to be in the salon for an hour in a half and polish not even be on my toes its ridiculous. The staff apologized that they were "short staff", and asked if we'd stay another 45 mins to finish, MY TOES AREN'T EVEN PAINTED! She said everyone was on vacation and I had to just nod my head because only one customer came in the whole time we were there and there's three employees...how are you short staffed? Your lazy or slow or unwilling not sure but you wasted my time and ruined my day and took my money!!!! I'm annoyed this was just horrible. read more

Katie did a wonderful job with my mani pedi. It's been a few days in and my nails and cuticles look trim and neat. Surprising how that is not always the case. I only wanted regular polish since I don't get a frequent manicure and their regular polish selection wasn't the best (old bottles and not as many colors) but I found a few that worked and Katie was very sweet, professional (no comments on my ragged cuticles) and a great technician. I am not one to complain about how my nails are done, but don't even waste your time going to this place. I should have known something wasn't right when I asked if they did Dip powder nails and they handed me a grocery bag filled with about 12, very bright powders. After the "manicure" was done my nails looked grainy and had a slight shine. I had to ask 3 times for it to be corrected so that the nail bed looked smooth, which they seemed to not understand. It is now day 3 and the gel clear coat they put on top to correct their mistake is now peeling. Very disappointed. Waste of time and my money! read more

Got a mani/pedi here which was probably the worst Ive everhad. .if I could do 1 star 0 stars I would. At one point the person clipped my finger which was an annoyance. Additionally the person doing my service barely spoke English and did a deluxe service on me without my knowledge. Nicole and her crew are great! they take phone appointments and walk-ins so we can plan ahead or just go if we find we want to pop in. Very clean and super nice. Lots of colors and have both normal and gel as well as acrylics and fiberglass. Nicole has the experience to recommend one type of nail color or treatment that fits with what you want and how tough you need them to be. Decent prices and super nice people. Nicole did a really good job on my nails. I got acrylic full set with matte purple polish and she made sure I liked it. All of my nails are evenly shaped and even in length and I'm really picky about eveness but she did a great job! And she was gentle with my hands I didn't feel like how I usually do at other places where they're jerking my hands and fingers around. When I bumped them and smudged them a little she fixed it fast and didn't make a fuss about it and even stayed late to finish and didn't mind or get annoyed. My daughter and I were loyal customers, going to this shop faithfully every two weeks for several years, both of us getting gel (and sometimes, she, acrylics) manis and pedicures. After calling for an appointment (which we always do) and being asked to come right over, we rush back to Alameda, finally find parking and walk into the store....on the heels of two teenage girls whom they took in as walk-ins. She did apologize, but she also took in several walk-ins in front of her scheduled regulars. We have not been back. I tried Bay Farm Nails (see TERRIBLE review), and this weekend, I found our "forever nail salon" in Lee's Nails on Santa Clara Avenue near Park Street. Tuoy and Helen ROCK!!! I was really impressed with the quality and thoroughness Jenny (Jennie?) put into my gel manicure. She spent a long time on every detail and did not rush at all, even when other people came in and we're waiting. It turned out beautiful. If you can avoid this place DO IT!!! Horrible service. I go in there on a Sunday afternoon, of course salons are busy sundays, I knew that. So here I am yelping the best spas in alameda and boom ! I found this one. First of all I get there and I am asked what I would like to get done with out a time frame of it actually getting done. I choose my color and I wait for aprox 20 minutes. I am yelping other places to try and see if I should go elsewhere I SHOULD OF! I asked for a pedicure. By pedicure I am thinking feet scrubs, massage along with hot towels and color of my nail.. well here I was WRONG.. the employee taking off my gel polish with alcohol and foil OK.. next she began cutting my nails/cuticle . Mind you at other shops usually they do this after the massage and feet scrub so right now I am still OK with what's she's doing not until she starts doing my new color and pretty much thinking she was done . By now all I've gotten is my feet soaked, my previous gel polish removed , my nails filed and cuticle cut... so I sit there and wonder is this a JOKE??? I ask her sooooo does the pedicure not include massage and feet scrub??? And she says NOO... oooohkkk . So I tell the lady well if does not include that I'll take that as a color change go ahead and charge me for a color change she said no n can charge you $30 and not $35 for the pedicure.. WTF!!!! I could o done this shi*** at home trying to charge me $30 but charging the damn color on my nails PLEASE!!!! So she saw that I got upset and switched up the story she said they first paint the NAEOL and after they massage and feet scrub LIES!!!! I saw another customer next to me and the routine was completely different. I was ready to just walk out of how pissed off I was. Like I literally only get pedicures for the massage and scrub not so much the color I just had the most tiring work week all I wanted was a feet scrub and massage!!!! How hard was that!!! Well I ended up paying the $30 cause she did give me a massage and feet scrub although it was the most shitties*t massage ever full of attitude but now I know not to ever come back here! read more
