Accidentally booked our room for the night before the day we arrived (obviously 100% our fault and we own that). The lady at the front desk said she had no control over anything because it was booked through Expedia and they would have to modify or refund. So I called Expedia and they stated it was the motels discretion if they wanted to honor a one time courtesy adjustment. The Expedia rep was willing to call and ask them to move/modify or cancel the reservation and rebook for the next day and the manager Laura (or maybe Lauren? The Expedia rep was unsure) was unwilling to help at all. She also stated she couldn't call me yesterday to see where we were because she didn't have my phone number. But the Expedia rep confirmed my phone number was provided to the motel with the reservation info. Not that it's her responsibility to call and see where we are, but why lie? It's not like the hotel is so busy and was booked in full the night before. It's also not like it's a high dollar rate. We are talking roughly $100. There are much better places to stay in the area, we picked this location on this visit because it's a quick stop on our way up the coast. So we won't be back. Customer service goes a long way and $100 isn't worth it to them to help make it right for the customer, instead they pocketed an extra $120 because we still needed to stay somewhere before we continue on tomorrow. I typically don't like "motels", but this was a nice option. The room was spacious and clean/modern. It's no frills but was comfortable and across the street from some great restaurants (Rosa's and Ada's). Just a 2-3 block walk to the ocean and pier. Check in was easy and the desk clerk was friendly. Plenty of parking. It was a last min booking but I was pleasantly surprised. I typically prefer to be by the ocean and have a view, but this was a great find for the price. Definitely recommend it and would stay again. read more

This is a tow star motel! Decor (if one can call it that) is minimal. Floor not carpeted. King size bed uncomfortable and made crunchy noises whenever we moved. Refrigerator had massive ice wall in back and did not really cool anything that wasn't directly touching that ice wall. Bathroom sink had only warm or hot water (?) Plumbing all exposed. The driveway into the parking lot is very steep. The motel is an older two story building. It appears to have been renovated not long ago. The rooms were clean with a refrigerator and a microwave. The bathroom was clean and had soap and shampoo dispensers. The double shades were nice, they let light in during the day and made the room dark for sleeping. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. There are good restaurants within walking distance. Best of all the room rate is nice and reasonable for being so close to the beach. Starting off with the ONLY negative thing. The driveway to enter the property is very steep and bad for low cars like mine. I did scrape it. Everyone thing else was GOOD! The bed was very comfortable (soft good for side sleepers), the shower was great, bathroom was clean, room was clean (NO hair!!) mini fridge, coffee maker, room seemed newish (nice floors), double locks on the door, double curtains for darkness, price was fair, there was enough parking, front desk lady was nice, and you can text her for anything instead of having to call or walk up to the office. My dog also got free treats and poop bags. Dog fee is $25 a night. They have a nice outdoor area for your leashed dogs to go potty (real grass!). 9.9/10 would stay here again. read more

Stayed just for one night. Way too pricey for what we got but it was peak season so I get it. But I'd never stay here again or recommend it. Hair everywhere in the room. Clumps, loose strands, etc. Toenail on the floor. White socks were brown after a night walking around on the floor. (did not want to take socks off all stay). If you put your feet on/in the bed, that floor is wiping off on your sheets. Given the state of the room, we were also fearful of potential bedbugs. I didn't sleep much since couldn't relax and slept with my hood up to avoid contact with bedding. We washed the hoodies and the kids stuffies when we got home. With the mold and hair in the shower, you could not pay me to use the shower as it was. Leave the floaters at home peeps: the filled-in swimming pool is the smoking area. One star because we could not relax and felt robbed between what we got and what we paid. read more

I requested a refund since there were no rooms which seemed obvious to me, and management just turned her back to me without helping. What a great motel!!! From the start Laura was so sweet and helpful at check in! Once we got to our room we are pleasantly surprised with the size, it was HUGE! With high vaulted ceilings, king size bed and plenty of space for our luggage!! Not only does it come with a full size mini fridge but a microwave and keurig coffee maker!!! Wasn't sure about this place. It was cheap and what we could afford. No frills. We parked next to the (pool) that has been filled. Room has a mini fridge,keurig, and microwave. It had an ironing board but i dont remember seeing an iron. We had room 108. The chain on the door was missing, we pushed a chair up against it. It was clean. Not any of the gross stains other people have reported. The beds are comfortable. I tore mine apart to make sure there were no bugs. The one bug I found was a dead rolly polly under the bed. The shutters don't keep the light out. I use to clean houses so the one thing I did notice was the light above the bathroom sink was really dusty on top. They have liquid soap and lotion in despensers. No bar soap. Bring a fan and you will hear nothing. The freeway entrance and exit are right there but it really isn't noisy. read more

Location location location! This place has it and all the you would want in a quick stay hotel. I was skeptical because I wasn't able to deep dive into the reviews like I would normally do when booking a motel, but I can say I was delightfully surprised. I booked two hours before our arrival the price was excellent, and we got in the room within 5 minutes of arrival. We only stayed one night but slept like a baby. 1- Close to the beach, and the pier, walking distance to everything that counts. 2- Huge room (we stayed in the wheelchair accessible, no reason other than that's all that was available) but the other rooms looked awesome too. Huge bathroom and good full length mirror. 3- A lot of the reviews had said that the owner who also works at the front desk was delightful and pleasant. I didn't find that... he was very short and didn't smile much or seem welcoming..but nonetheless I'm a New Yorker so I'm used to that anyway LOL. He did let us stay a little past check out, which was nice.. we were exhausted and needed that extra hour. 4- Location is right across the street from the welcome to Pismo Beach sign & monument really great for picture taking. 5- Parking was convenient and awesome, right in front of our room door 6- Love the detachable showerhead, but definitely could've use more pillows in the room and fluffier pillows. we picked this motel because it allowed dogs. The interior of the room was made more for young people with metal chairs and a metal bed that was klunking everytime you got up. The shower was for midgets and there is no way anyone over 5" 6" can wash their hair. However the room was clean, the beds comfortable and the potty area for the dog was great too. though we paid 25 dollars for our dog, we got a treat bag and some clean up bags, that was a nice touch. read more

Booked a room for 1 night through Hotels.com and their site clearly states that you will not be charged a dime until you go to check in. (Which is 3pm, btw) WELL. ocean palms motel doesn't give a shit about anyone else policies and will try charging your card on file (around 9am the day of check in whether you're there or not). My card was declined when he tried to run it so he called me ( I had my card locked for this very reason) and I refused to give him a different card to run over the phone and let him know that I wasn't supposed to be charged till I arrived, so he got angry and started shouting that he was going to just cancel my reservation for me, and hung up on me. Had to call hotels.com and get it straightened out so I wasn't charged unfairly. Bad business practice//super shady. Don't bother with this place, based on majority of reviews, it's seems likely you'll end up scammed out of your $$ or overall disappointed. read more

So where do I begin.... This place is disgusting. Dirty dirty dirty. Walked into a room the motel staff was cleaning and there was some young adult kicked back in a chair with his feet up. I grabbed a towel and cleaner and tried to salvage room 114. Too much filth to continue cleaning. We had to leave and find food. Which was the only highlight of our trip. The pool is permanently closed, their is no spa, There is no wine being served. The only new item in the room was a Kerig. Refrigerator was not cold and did not get cold. Coffee stains on the wall, hand prints on the wall, something on the shower wall that look like poo. The staff may seem nice but if your not helping then you are part of the problem. read more

We were caught in an emergency situation since our toy hauler wheel came off on our way out of town (after our 4 night stay at the Oceano Campground). We needed to find lodging for our 3 person family and our dog and stumbled upon this place online. It was located less than a mile from where our trailer broke down, allows dogs and reasonably priced. The place was perfect for our needs. It came with 2 beds, a nice size refrigerator, a microwave, the bed is comfy and the room was clean. We had to extend our stay by another night given the trailer debacle....the manager couldn't accommodate our same double room, so we had to move into a King room. We really liked the King room given there was a desk in the room as we had to get some work done while trying to get our trailer towed/fixed. The dog grass area was perfect and there was plenty of parking....I was super pleased with our stay and appreciate the manager working with us and letting us check in early to the new room on the second night. And one more thing to note...there are crazy bright lights around the entire building - I really appreciated that since it made me feel much safer. Also, the property is located near the pier - about a 10 minute walk. The only thing that would have made this place even better was maybe a hot tub :), but all in all, a really solid property! Decent hotel for a very affordable price ($69 after taxes/fees). We only needed a place to stay for our mini getaway this weekend. I'm not picky when it comes to hotels - I just need a clean place to sleep and shower, especially if we're never gonna be in there for the majority of the time. They had all the amenities: shower/toilet, towels (face, hand, and body), bed, tv, wifi, iron/ironing, board, fridge, body soap, and microwave. They did not have any shampoo/conditioner nor did they have any form of air conditioning besides a plug in fan. Luckily we brought our own toiletries. We had a queen sized bed with five pillows that were extra soft! My skin is very sensitive when it comes to bedsheets. I thought the ones they provided were tolerable, except for the fact that I got two bug bites - one on my face and one on my arm.. yikes. Another reason why I gave this place a 3 stars (well I guess it deserves a 3 1/2) was because we couldn't sleep peacefully when we took a midday nap. I have no idea why they decided to do construction for several hours. It was literally right outside our door. All we could hear was constant banging/hammering on the walls. It was rather annoying.. So i wasn't expecting much, and the pictures on the website looked dated... But both my husband and I were surprised at how nice the rooms were, and clean. We came here last year for our anniversary and brought our small dogs. They were very accommodating and price was reasonable for the pets fee. Very clean room and great location! We came back again this year because we were very happy with our last visit. It was a clean comfortable room in this motel by the highway. You could hear the highway but it didn't wake me up. It's pet friendly with a dog walking area. It's a quick walk to the beach, dining, and downtown. I was happy with the value for the money. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's at least 1.5 to 2 seasons. Just stayed one night here for $250. It was not a good experience. Room 104, our room, smelled like sewage. They staff convinced us that it was a smell from their covid disinfectants and brought in an ozone machine (whatever that is) to help. We decided to stay put out of laziness and full hotels. We continued to smell the sewage every time we used the bathroom sink which clearly is not a disinfectant problem. When checking out we complained but just got an apology.
