Brand new hotel with some seriously confused decor. I can appreciate a retro vibe, and they did well in the lobby, but the rooms are just weird. Prices are probably higher than they should be, but everything is really clean, comfy, and brand new. We had a patio, jacuzzi, and ocean view and they were so worth it. The staff here was incredibly nice and the continental breakfast was quite plentiful. They have HBO and wifi, too. Stay here if you want a new, clean room with friendly staff! read more

So I rented the suite w/a jacuzzi inside the room for a 50-th so first the front desk was so inviting pleasant beautiful decor inside...I had called the day before to see if I could come in early (before check in) to set up the room she said:of course I can call u in the morning and as soon as it's cleaned (from the last guests) u can come in and set up & they stored the cake in there fridge (untouched I might add the whole night) so when I came in the next morning she asked me if I needed housekeepers to help me awe so sweet..first they leave the doors open which I think is smart there was no weird suspicious smells or spots or stains perfect...when I walked into the room it was very clean and spacious me & friends sat up everything after I think 2-hrs then came back down and the woman at the desk said: oh can I see she loved it and said:they will never forget it :) and they didn't there was a fire place that turns on by remote you can set the temp to your liking and if u want a wonderful view on the 3-rd floor is where it's at..I will never forget this nor my parents ..ty so much for making my parents 50-th amazing--Mel read more

Great for a family on the road. We had three beds with a king in its own room. We enjoyed the size, since each of us had our own bed. We also enjoyed two large flat screen TVs. Ended up in Crescent City over Labor Day weekend when my brother's bike broke down on the way to meet up with us in Eureka. I was worried we wouldn't find a room - it was Saturday evening and I called five places before trying the Ocean View. I was feeling iffy about it because there were no reviews on Yelp at the time. The woman I spoke to on the phone said they were really busy so she couldn't take a card over the phone, but I explained the situation and she agreed to hold the room with just my name - score! Turns out there were no reviews because the place is new. It ended up being fine - comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff and a decent breakfast. Price was fair, too. Everything is clean and the rooms are very spacious. The hotel is a great base for exploring the redwoods. The breakfast is pretty good. A lot of Costco items. No complaints there. The decor is very weird. We have a 1 bedroom suite and there are 4 different bedside tables. It looks like they appointed the rooms though yard sales. All in all I like this hotel and I wanted to give it more stars, but there are a couple things preventing me from doing so. First off, I need the AC to work. When I need it, I need it. Simple as that. For the price I paid I expect the AC to work. Second, the breakfast is nothing more than I would expect from an $80 room at any passable, one-night-stay, budget chain. At $125, I presume the quality would be higher, such as freshly cooked eggs. On a positive note, my room was very clean, the shower worked great (always important), and the staff were very friendly. I'm sure the Ocean View could rectify these minor issues, and if I were to stay in Crescent City again (highly likely) I would give them another try. Also, Ocean View managed to give me a nice room after the detestable liars and thieves at Oceanfront Lodge (Yes, similar name and formally the excellent Hampton Inn & Suites) lost my business for good. read more

The fireplaces advertised are actually fake plug in "fireplace" heaters with no real fire at all. That is super dishonest and tainted the whole place for me. The ocean "view" is a utility road, bushes, trees, then some ocean in the distance. Frozen waffles at breakfast with some toast, yogurt, fruit, juice. Unless you're getting a good deal I wouldn't pay full price for this place. read more

Very nice for the price. I stayed in the 3 queen bed suite. Room had some moisture and also heard a bee ping sound from another room.

Our family stayed here. We stayed in two rooms on the 2nd floor. Both room were very spacious and clean. They had a nice view of the harbor and you could her the foghorn from the lighthouse sound (which I liked). The staff very very friendly and helpful. The only things that could have been improved were the continental breakfast which mainly consisted of pastries. Some pancakes or eggs and sausage would have been nice. The price was good though. At around 120.00 in June we will stay there again if we are in the area. read more

Great night stay on our way to Oregon. This place was fantastic. It's very easy to call and get a quote and make a reservation. We requested an ocean view room with a spa tub. The view was really nice and the fog horn, seals and waves in the distance were very peaceful. Stayed for two nights to attend my daughter's large cheerleading competition in March 2019. Pros: Room was large and clean. Spa tub was very clean and worked well. Nice balcony for morning coffee. Check in process was smooth especially considering that there were about 20 people in line to check in all at once. Employees were nice and helpful Cons: There was a sign in the office about bikes getting stolen and how you should bring your bike inside if you have one. No Cameras or Security in the parking lot, and Overnight office staff seemed inattentive as my car window was broken out and car robbed and the alarm went off long enough that it deactivated itself. Nothing of value in the car so the thieves made a mess of the inside. It wasn't a smash and grab, they had time to go through every single piece of mail and the console and glove boxes in my car. Overall it wasn't a bad stay and if my car hadn't had several hundred dollars worth of damage done to it on our first night there I'd probably stay there again. Install Cameras and better parking lot lighting. Train staff or hire security to deal with the rising crime problem that your sign in the office references. read more

I stayed here with two of my foster sons. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite that had two queen size beds and one king. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back. The Good: The room was very spacious, the Wi-Fi was more than adequate for all of our streaming needs, the queen beds were very comfortable. The room we stayed in (106) had a tub transfer bench in the bathroom, a handheld shower head, and six grab bars in the shower. As someone who went through a serious spinal cord injury earlier this year it was very nice to see those features in this room. The staff were busy decorating for Christmas while we were there, and I can tell you that they definitely go all out for this! It was great to see the cheerful decorations around the lobby. Most importantly, this is a family run hotel so when you are staying here you are supporting real people, not big corporations! The Bad: The king size bed was hard, really hard; I think the ground was softer than the bed... Also, the guest soaps were pathetically small. We ended up going to Walgreens to buy soap because even if you put several of the guest soaps together it ended up being smaller than a regular hotel's guest soap. The Ordinary: The furnishing and decor were nothing to write home about. The breakfast was fair, but could have been taken to another level simply with the inclusion of some scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon. When staying in a suite I am used to seeing premium linens. The sheets on the King Size Bed we worn out and had pulled threads. The bath towels were also on the small side; like something you would get at a motel. read more

Ocean View hotel is identical to Lighthouse hotel except for its newer, smells clean and staff at front desk (sandy) was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Room comes with fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Hot drinks available in lobby 24/7. View of bay was descent also. I will return to this hotel again in a couple months. read more

I stayed for 4 nights (5/22 to 5/26). The staff is friendly and helpful. The price per night is reasonable, I asked for a room on the first floor and got it. Very quiet - no loud people, so I slept like a baby. The curtains don't close all the way, but I was able to kind of overlay them and it was dark enough. We were driving from Oregon down the coast to SF. Stopped at Crescent city and stayed at Ocean View. Charming hotel, simple but clean.

I have never done a Yelp review which is odd because I always rely on Yelp for everything and anything when I travel. I work in the highway striping industry so I travel the state and basically live out of hotels and motels. This place has been nothing but accommodating and good to me and also my crew. Especially Angela who works at the front desk. She is amazing and I highly recommend this place for any travelers. The rooms are spacious and clean. read more

I stayed at this hotel from 08/06/17 to 08/09/17. I found this hotel to be clean, quiet and found the employees friendly and polite. In my opinion, there were two things that could be improved at this hotel. The first thing would be to put peep holes in the doors so you don't have to wonder who is at your door before opening it. To me this is a HUGE safety issue.. Secondly, there are at least three junkie cars in the parking lot. A green van, a white Cadi and a green Saturn. Based on the debris on and around these vehicles, it is apparent that these vehicles have not moved in long, long time. The van's registration showed that it is expired since 2014. Since these vehicles are on private property and are being allowed to stay on the property, I wonder if they belong to the owners of the hotel. I don't understand why the owners would want these crappy cars taking up parking spots in their parking lot. Surely it can't be so it looks like people are staying at the hotel cause that would be ludicrous (foolish, unreasonable, out of place, amusing). I mean who would purposely put blight in the parking lot of a brand new hotel. Again, these two things are just my opinion and I enjoyed my stay. read more

You get what you pay for at this hotel. We got a family suite. That's three beds, one in the open space with couches, kitchen and a dining table. Two beds in a separate room. There is one door to the bathroom through the living area. None of the side table lamps worked, and there is no air ventilation in the main bedroom unless you open the window. The over all room had been worn down over the years and needs a face lift. The kitchen has a stove which has a framed sign above it that states "OUT OF ORDER DO NOT USE", considering the warning was framed it gave me the sense that it had been broken for a while and was not going to be fixed or anytime soon. But over all the beds were sleep-able and the fridge and coffee machine worked. They had rooms last minute as we were coming into town and offered a VERY reasonable price price. read more

Overall it was a decent place to stay. Average continental breakfast although the news channel that was on wouldn't be my choice to watch. The room was nice and the shower is one of the better hotel showers. However, I wouldn't stay here again for the following reason: the person in the room next to us was playing music so loudly that after the hotel staff couldn't get them to be quieter they actually had to call the sheriff to get them to quiet down. They did finally quiet down the music but then decided to leave around 1:30am with lots of door and drawers slamming. Needless to say we got very little sleep. When we checked out and we're asked about our stay we mentioned the noise and the subsequent lack of sleep. We were offered apologies and sent on our way. I was going to give this hotel a five stars for making accommodations for my child when we had to unexpectedly go to the ER while camping nearby. They don't allow pets but made an exception. JoAnn was very sweet on the phone and very sympathetic. The gentleman that checked me in was also polite and accommodating. My issue was this morning when I walked out of my room to walk my dog an older woman (manager) mentioned she smelled marijuana. I told her I smelled it to last night as well. As I was walking my dogs I was hoping she wasn't thinking I was the offender. After walking my dogs I went down the hall to speak to the front desk and she saw me from a side room and was talking to another woman. She said she had a couple issues. One was about my dogs but we cleared it when she confirmed I was the one who came in last night with my daughter from the ER. She then mentioned something about me having a pipe and it smelling like marijuana in the room. I immediately wanted to clear my name because it had become obvious that I was being accused of smoking. She mentioned her and the maids smelled it outside my door. I told her to please come to my room and she could see that there was no smell in my room. I told her I have three children in my room and I wanted to clear my name. When we were about to go in my room she hesitated and said it was ok but I insisted. I opened my door and my children were sitting on the bed watching TV including the injured one laying in bed. Nothing. She smelled nothing in the room. We couldn't understand where the smell was coming from but there is an employee door next to our room? Even though She apologized many times and shook my hand after I tried to help her track down the smell upstairs...I still after the fact feel quite offended. My heart was racing thinking that someone would even consider this of a mother with three kids. I felt it was an attack on my character. She even called me on the room phone to apologize. When I mentioned that she accused me and asked me about a pipe she backtracked and denied saying anything about a pipe. So up until this morning I was completely happy with my experience. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was awesome. Next time if you think you have people smoking marijuana...call the police and let them track down the culprits...don't play the police and accuse/imply that your hotel guest are guilty. I hope to one day laugh about this but at the moment all I feel is sick to my stomach and the it was the last stress I needed when spending 6hrs at the ER and not going to sleep til almost 2am trying to care for my injured daughter. Tried to contact the owner, called the front desk and asked to speak to the owner and never heard back. read more

Stayed one night here after a day hike in Jedediah State Park. Upgraded to a room with a balcony. The views are great, recommend getting a balcony but know the balconies are all very close to each other and you can see and hear your neighbors. The room was ok, could use some updating. The WiFi was free but horrible. Could not get it to stay connected. Free continental breakfast was good. The restaurant and bar had a nice view of the water. Did not eat there but this is where breakfast was also served. Easy surface area parking. The area surrounding the hotel is not really walking distance to much. But there is a grocery store, gas stations near by. There was a brewery that looked to be brand new right next to hotel but was closed day of our stay. There is also a lighthouse next to hotel that looked like you could tour. Only giving 4 stars because of the lack of room updates, poor wifi, and not the greatest surrounding area. Totally worth it though for a night stay if you are just passing through. read more

Nobody Mentioned Bedbugs! When we arrived, we were greeted by a pleasant staff - then the nightmare unfolded! A shower that didn't just leak but drained onto the tiled bathroom floor. Bed Bugs Doors that have gone with out maintenance so they either won't shut or won't open! Staff that was great at greeting, turned to be slightly spiteful. After complaints were made to the front staff, we were ensured that the room would be discounted! I asked to speak to the manager and was literally told the manager was asleep!!! WTF - right?! Upon checkout they refused to discount my over priced room since they let us shower in another room and now that room had to be turned down by housecleaning! That's it... That's all! They let us use another rooms shower! In my opinion, keep looking for another hotel! read more

We recently had to return to Crescent City for the services of a dear friend. We had short notice to make arrangements. The owners of Ocean View offered complementary rooms to those traveling in for theses services. The staff was so kind and caring knowing how everyone was hurting. They were friendly and sincere. The continental breakfast was fresh and delicious. Our room was big, beautiful, clean and had a great view of the ocean. I have so much gratitude for how we were treated, the generosity of total strangers and knowing that this business donated over 20 rooms to help out this devastating loss to the community. When we return to visit family and friends again we will most certainly stay at ocean view. They are more than a business they truly care about you and your experience. read more

Dirty sheets, dirty and dusty furniture. Beds really uncomfortable and pillows very lacking. They want you to be conscious of water consumption which I am, but cannot abide by styrofoam cups and resent having Fox News shoved down my throat at breakfast. Saw many people bring breakfast up to their room because they too did not want to listen to Fox News. Time and place for everything--keep politics out of breakfast for your customers--please!!
