Came here after seeing the Social Media advertisement and received a Bogo. We haven't been here in years. As you enter the restaurant was pleasantly clean and inviting and most of all didn't have the greasy smell in the air like a Famous Amos restaurant. Very crisp and clean air. Was greeted fairly quickly and sat. The server came over and got our drink order and after returning took our order. Came here for the breakfast on a Wednesday around 9:30am had only 2 tables left or bar seating was available. Around 10am it really started clearing out. Got the regular breakfast with a scrambled egg, hash browns, paid extra for the grits, pancake and country ham. Everything was cooked perfectly. That country Ham is the bomb! Grits are creamy and not overly gritty, could have used more salt when cooking. I forgot to get pictures of my food, I jumped right in and devoured it. I love supporting our local businesses when it's worth it. We overall enjoyed our meal and we will definitely return a lot sooner and more often. read more

The place was busy and had a nice murmur of conversation amongst the patrons and Scriptures on the wall, which I thought was pretty cool. The team members were politely social and regularly checked on their tables. I wasn't sure if I had to wait or could seat myself. So, I walked in and moved toward the breakfast bar but was seated by one of the owners, Celine (I hope that I spelled it right.) I ordered an egg, soft scrambled, turkey sausage with grits, a pancake and a cup of decaf coffee. The pancake was LARGE . I knew that I wasn't going to finish, and I was right! I reckon it's standard not to season eggs, but would that include the water for grits? A suggestion: try cooking the grits in broth to enhance the flavor! That's it. Celine shared that she and Mark have owned the restaurant for the past 3 of the 35-year history. She jokes that he looks like Guy Fieri and he quips that he's better looking. Had biscuit and gravy. Biscuits are not cooked long enough and tend to taste doughy. Bacon has no taste at all and has been sitting on a grill top or pan for some time. Best thing happening is service and sweet tea. Needs to take a deep dive into quality of food. read more

I forgot to take pictures of the food because it smelled and looked so appetizing. This was an amazing visit! It was our first time at Terry's and let me tell you, this is not low quality diner food. This establishment is located across from some newer places and next to a gas station in a tiny strip mall. When we arrived they could not accommodate right away, but we waited less than 5-7 minutes for a table. Everyone inside knew someone else who came in or was already dining. The atmosphere was more like a family spot than a dicey diner. The staff was awesome. Not sure if we met Terry today, but if it was, he's the nicest guy you'll meet. He's funny and likes to laugh. We are the type of family that likes to poke at each other every once in a while and after a few minutes he fit right in with us. Everyone who came through the door had a fun conversation with him. He really made the visit fun. The rest of the staff was friendly and made sure we never had to ask for refills or sauces. We ordered the avocado toast, kids pancakes with bacon, 2 French toast with bacon, two waffles with sausage patties and a side of hash browns, two pancakes with ham, eggs Benedict with home fries, 2eggs meal (hash browns, three sausage links) a biscuit, and lastly kids plate of French toast. We all ordered fruit juice or coffee and had water all around. Every last bit of the food we ordered was devoured. It was so good. Everything was cooked perfectly and the eggs on my Benedict were perfectly poached. The hollandaise sauce was flavorful and thick, topped with paprika and laid on top of some of the best ham I've had in a diner. The side of ham that came with my husband's breakfast was huge! All in all, very satisfied with our overall experience. I'd go back again and again. If diners are your thing, this is the perfect place to have a satisfying meal and a nice cup of coffee. 10/10 recommend. Very affordable and portion sizes are perfect. read more

UPDATE: Mark reached out to me within hours of writing this review. This never happens. He asked me for a few details about my visit and genuinely wanted to make it right. I had a 3 star experience but the attention by the owner or manager earned an upgrade to 4. This place used to be the best place in the area to have breakfast. It is still a decent spot but has gone down considerably. It was not very busy when I sat down but my server did not come to the table quickly. When she did she wanted to get my drink order and get away. When she came back with my drink she did not stick around to take my order, in fact she dropped my drink on the fly and went to another table. I ordered the chopped steak and eggs, medium with over medium eggs and home fries. The eggs were fine when they arrived but the steak was well done and hard. The server did not come back to check on me so I just ate it. The food was just OK and the service was bad. I have seen the servers face many times, maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she just doesn't like her job anymore. Either way, she created a bad experience. read more

I love Terrys Grill!!! It kills me that I don't have any photos for this one ‍. The breakfast/brunch is great and consistent every time! It looks like a mom and pop and the owner comes and checkin on tables and say hi which I love. The team is so kind and service is fast and attentive. They are closed on Sundays which I had to learn the hard way. For breakfast I get the hash bowl with all the meats and an over medium egg. Food was horrible, the two pork chop special, no flavor, they were 1/8" thk, no salt no pepper, lima beans tasted like they were left in the stove over night, I had a cheese burger, "all the way" it came with nothing, waitress took it back l, it came back, burger was then cold, we got the bill, the shifty waitress snuck on $10 work of sweet tea when all we had was Ice water, I am sure that would have made its way into her pocket at the end of her shift. Been going to this location for about two years now. The staff is great, and the food is good, but 9 out of 10 times our order is wrong. We order the same dish each time, the only thing that may change are fries vs hash browns. On our last visit we placed an order it was wrong. I immediately called back and the young lady who took the order apologized for entering it wrong, talked to another server and then said they would have the owner call back the following day. He didn't call back, so I talked to Sierra the next day. Same thing, owner took some days off and he would call back the next day. The third day I finally got in touch with the owner. Explained the situation that both my omelettes were incorrect and we told him it happens almost every time we order. Previously, he gave us 10% off a meal because the order was wrong. He proceeds to ask me questions, I told him that my fiancé always orders, he orders the same way all the time and the young lady who placed the order said she entered it incorrectly. He tells me that he cant keto giving away free food. I explained to him that we never got free food from the restaurant and we only complained twice because both orders were wrong. He tells me ye doesn't know what he can do for us, he can't keto giving out free food, they have turnover and the servers need to learn how to properly enter the order and abruptly hung up before I could say anything else. I moved to the Northside in 2017. Since the new owners took over Terrys has gone down consistently. I ordered hamburger steak last weekend and the hamburger was so overcooked I doubt my dogs would eat it. My husband's sausage was over cooked and looked like shriveled rocks. I ordered a to go sandwich this weekend and I learned they will be closed Sundays going forward. This is the only day it's busy. Mark my words they will be done in less than a year. This is the beginning of the end. I see the reviews just get a little worse every month. If I was the owner I would be looking at what changed and fix it.... But why be smart when I can run a stable Oceanway Breakfast Haunt into the ground. Such a waste, Terrys used to be a staple in town. They have done nothing but change it little by little. Talking about Mom and Pops place, well this is it. I love eating classic, no fusion recipes, that's how I like my foods cooked. Family was happy they coming from the airport and Terry's was highly recommended when I searched for breakfast restaurants. Staff was very courteous even with high turnover over of customers. Highly recommended and excellent ratings were factors in heading to this popular local spot. Went here with my cousin and his wife. A bustling little place! I think we arrived at the right time to snag one of the few unoccupied tables. Menus came quickly and drink orders. There were some delays in ordering and food arrival but not unexpected with the busyness of the hour. I went with eggs over easy, bacon and grits. Choice of toast or biscuit, a neighbor highly suggested biscuits, so chose that, and a side of sausage gravy. My wife opted for hot oatmeal and raisin toast. Since we already had coffee at our hotel, we chose water. My eggs were perfectly done, grits were smooth and creamy, and biscuit was huge, fluffy and delicious. The small bowl of gravy was great on a little of my biscuit. My wife really enjoyed the hot oatmeal, it brought back memories of my past, and said the raisin bread toast was fresh and great. Lovely diner setting/ we sat st the counter (the restaurant is already full!!) we ordered breakfast... I must say the bacon was cooked exactly the way I asked!! yummy and crispy!!! my eggs were done also perfect and I had to try their waffles because they are known for their waffles (reading reviews) and the entire breakfast did not disappoint!! So my BFF and myself started a new thing where every week we go out to lunch to a place neither of us has ever been. This week it was her choice and what a winner did she pick. This place is yummy on steroids. While we were visiting the special of the day was the Taco Salad and let me tell you customers were ordering that special like no tomorrow. It keep coming by the table and it looked delicious. Everything that was being delivered to tables looked liked you just wanted to go over and ask for a bite, now wouldn't that be nice. If we could just get a bite of everything----but I digress This place serves breakfast food, specials of the day and regular sandwiches (the hamburger plate with onion rings looked awesome). I decided on the philly cheese steak omelet and what a home run, totally out of this world. The omelet is a monster size and the steak is not skimpy. So much steak I couldn't believe it. Oh so good. I ordered it with the hash browns but you can get grits and of course you get a fluffy biscuit. They give you a huge drink that of course you can get refills of without a problem. Usually I can finish a breakfast anywhere I go but sadly I was not a member of the clean plate club here. I needed to leave half of my biscuit behind. Oh good gosh don't make this place more popular I thought because then I will never get a table, but how can I not share this amazing - opps...you would have missed that spot if you weren't looking.
